Rewards and Recognition Part 2

Tsunade smiled at the two symbols that still burned brightly in the sky one of fire and of lightning. She then turned towards the young Genin and spoke "what is your decision young Genin will you remain at your current rank until the next Chunin Exams take place or will you take the challenge and become Chunin and better you skills?"
The Genin looked at the Hokage and after bending down on one knee and bowing their heads they said in one voice "we accept the position of Chunin, and promise to help our village in its time of need, even if it means laying down our lives in its service Hokage-sama, we will abide by the conditions set by yourself and The Daimyo."
Tsunade had a smile on her face as she beckoned the remaining 8 genin to the podium when all the 9 genin had gathered at the podium and stood at attention in front of her. With Shizune at her side, Tsunade handed the recently graduated a Chunin vest and Tanto which they accepted and wore with pride. Tsunade smiled and said "well done Chunin of Konohagakure it is now time to meet your new partners and senior officers that you will be assigned to."
"Kenshin, your skills in Fuuinjutsu and Bukijutsu are excellent however after speaking with your Sensei it seems your Taijutsu still needs some work. Therefore to further your skills not only in Taijutsu but Bukijutsu and Fuuinjutsu as well you have been assigned to Might Gai."
Kenshin simply nodded his head and walked up to Might Gai and executed a military salute before standing next to him. Gai returned the Salute and said "worry not my youthful student I shall make you a Taijutsu master yet and your skills will thrive under my tutelage." Kenshin simply bowed in response and said "Hai sensei."
She then turned towards Moegi and said "Moegi-chan your skills in Medical jutsu are extremely good, however your Genjutsu and Taijutsu abilities still need work as a result to help you with your Genjutsu abilities I have selected Kurenai Yūhi as your commanding Jonin. Her skills in Genjutsu and Taijutsu will help develop your own."
Tsunade was about to say something to Shizune when Moegi raised her hand and said "Permission to speak Hokage-sama?" Tsunade looked at her with a curious look before nodding her head. "Hokage-sama while I am confident that Kurenai sensei will help me better skills in the shinobi arts, what of my medical training? Both Kenshin and I are still field medics in training and have not yet completed our medical education to become fully fledged medical Nins."
Tsunade smiled and said "I am glad that you pointed that out Moegi-chan. After speaking with both Sakura and Ino sensei and reviewing your files it seems that you both have learnt almost all that they can teach you, however you still have approximately 1 year of training more to do before becoming fully fledged Medical Nins. However neither Sakura nor Ino sensei will have the required time to complete your education properly."
"After discussing the matter it has been decided that Shizune sensei will help you complete your education. However remember while Shizune sensei is a patient teacher for willing students. She also has very little patience for students who are not 100% serious about their studies. Till date she has only taken on three students; two of them are your sensei and the third is standing next to you." Tsunade said pointing at Sakura, Ino and Tatsuki.
Kenshin had also come forward interested in the topic and said "I cannot speak for Moegi-chan. However I can speak for myself and I assure you that I can and will complete my studies at any cost both with Shizune and Gai sensei. Because it's the only way to achieve my dream of looking both left and right at the same time." Tsunade smiled at Kenshin's use of words as she realized what he meant and looked at Moegi and said "what about you Moegi-chan are you also serious about your studies, are you willing to do whatever it takes to complete your education?" Moegi nodded her head and said "Hai Hokage sama!"
Tsunade looked into their eyes and saw their determination was real "very well young Chunin, if you are dedicated towards learning the medical arts then Shizune will teach you. However ensuring your other skills do not suffer as a result is also important. Therefore you will learn everything simultaneously. Shizune sensei will discuss with your sensei the best way to manage your medical training."
Once she had answered their questions she turned towards Hanabi and said "Hanabi–chan your skills in the Gentle Fist and Taijutsu are excellent, however your skills in tracking and stealth, still leave something to be desired, therefore I have decided to assign you to a Jonin who will be best able to further develop your skills not only in stealth and tracking but also teach you how to wield your elemental natured chakra to its full strength."
Hanabi nodded her head and bowing low to the Hokage said "as you see fit Hokage-sama." She walked over to Yamamoto and gave him a challenging grin. Yamamoto surveyed Hanabi for a minute before giving Hanabi a sadistic smile that promised her lots of pain and exhaustion in the near future. Hanabi involuntarily shivered seeing his smile and realized that it might not be good for her health to tempt Yamato Taichou; she had heard scary stories about him from Naruto sensei.
She then turned towards Udon and said "Udon-kun, your skills in ninjutsu and fuuinjutsu are excellent and you have lots of potential. However you're Taijutsu skills are still lacking, I am aware you have learnt Capoeira from Ino sensei, however it seems you still lack the skills needed to use it in actual combat. Therefore for a Genin of your special specific skill set requires a Jonin who can help your skills as a shinobi reach their full potential. Therefore I have decided that you will be assigned to Hatake Kakashi. I believe him to be the only Jonin who would be able to mould your skills to their full potential."
Udon analytical mind absorbed the Hokage's words; it would still take time before he would fully understand her statement, however dutiful as ever he executed a Military salute towards Tsunade and walked over to Kakashi and said "I look forward to our training Kakashi sensei." Kakashi just gave Udon his famous eye smile as he resolved to be a better friend and teacher to Udon than he had to Obito and Sasuke.
Tsunade turned towards Chiruku and said "Chiruku your skills in Taijutsu and Genjutsu are excellent and your understanding of the human psyche is very impressive for a young man of your age, however it seems your own true enemy is your own self, your own anger."
"You fear that you will lose control, after much consideration I have come to conclusion that the only way for you to move forward as a shinobi is if you were to master your Dou style ki for that is what is holding you back. It is my opinion that you needs to learn from a master the principle of Shaolin: when someone attacks, choose not to receive the violence, but rather to give it back to the sender."
"Therefore after speaking with Yao Fein the Head Monk of The Fire Temple he has decided to teach you the way of the Shaolin and help you truly master your Dou style without losing your kind heart. He is the perfect person to not only help you better your skills as a shinobi but also help you truly value your kind heart."
Chiruku nodded his head in acceptance of his leader's words and walked over to the monk and bowed respectfully to him.
Yao Fein was a bald man with dark eyes, and very thick eyebrows. He wore the standard attire of the ninja monk along with the sash worn by members of the Twelve Guardia Ninja group and went barefoot. He was a seemingly calm and composed person described as being unaffected, hardly letting anything phase him. He smiled warmly at Chiruku and bowed to him respectfully and after looking in his eyes with a kind smile said "it seems that The Outer Body Training Method has calmed your heart and mind to an extent. I am happy to know That Lee proved to be an Excellent teacher who knew exactly what would best suit his student's abilities."
Chiruku was shocked that the man had been able to realize that he had been using the technique only recently but swallowed his surprise and smiled "I am eager to learn what you have to teach me sensei, your wisdom and is advice is greatly renowned sensei; I would consider myself privileged to train under such a wise master." Yao Fein chuckled and said "It is not I who is wise my young traveler, life has taught me many valuable lessons and I try my best to help those who seek my advice not to make the same mistakes I once did."
Tsunade smiled as she heard the Head Monk's words and turning towards Hirako said "Hirako, your skills with your clan based jutsu and your ability to make unorthodox strategies is well known, however your skills in Taijutsu and Bukijutsu leave something to be desired."
"However it seems that much like your unorthodox strategies used in battle you are also in need of a Master who can help you in harvesting that creativity. Konoha has recently received a new ally. I speak obviously of the Nagoya Monastery Monks who have recently forged an alliance with the Aburame clan. After discussing this subject with your sensei and Clan I have decided that the monks shall train you to become a better martial artist and a better shinobi as a result."
Hirako bowed to the Hokage and said "as you command Hokage-sama." He then walked over to The Head monk of the Nagoya Monastery named Sentoki Fujiyoshi.
He was a tall man with bald head and a scar running across the left side of his head and dark eyes but intelligent eyes. He wore the standard attire of a Shaolin monk. Hirako bowed to the man respectfully and said "I am honored to be trained by a man of your calibre Sentoki-saama. I promise I shall try my best to learn all that you can teach me." Sentoki smiled and said "that is all that any master can ask his student young one; worry not we shall both strive hard together to reach the limits of our abilities, for in martial arts as a master teaches his disciple so does the disciple teach his master."
Tsunade turned towards Tatsuki and asked "Tatsuki-chan have you made a decision yet?" Kenpachi looked at her with a puzzled and questioning look but Tatsuki ignored her boyfriend and quickly looked over to her sensei. Chouji caught her eye and with a kind smile nodded his head in encouragement, his eyes giving her a silent message. Tatsuki nodded her head in understanding and turning towards the Hokage and bowed before her saying "yes, Hokage-sama I am ready to accept the Summoning contract for the Cobra Clan."
Tsunade smiled widely and taking out the last summoning contract she handed it over to Tatsuki and said "Very well then Tatsuki-chan, please sign the contract and help us greet our newest ally."
Tatsuki nodded her head and after cutting her finger with a kunai, she wrote her name upon the summoning contract. Once done she slowly made the hand signs for the Boar → Dog → Bird → Monkey → Ram and slamming her hands on the ground she said "Kuchiyose no Jutsu" ("Summoning Technique!")
A Large poof of smoke appeared in front of Tatsuki, before the smoke could dissipate a large hissing sound could be heard and suddenly a gust of wind blew the smoke away and before the Shinobi of the leaf stood a Giant Snake its size was massive and larger than any summon ever seen.
However its size was the least impressive aspect of its appearance; its body was jet black and it had not one head but a thousand. On each head sat a golden crown with a large jewel set in the middle of the crown. Its mouths were open with its forked tongues flicking in the open air and as it breathed fire and poison gas through its mouth. The Shinobi of the leaf were surprised by the appearance of the beast and many of them were brandishing weapons. Even the Konoha 12 had their weapons out. All except for Shikamaru, Ino, Chouji who were looking at the giant serpent and then at each other before smiling.
Even the Anbu had gathered around their leaders in a tight circle as the Giant Serpent spoke. "Who dares to summon me, come before me so that I may know who has dared to disturb my slumber? Come before me with your weapon raised I shall give thee a fighting chance let the Great Buddha also see that I gave those who dared disturb my slumber to challenge me a chance of an honorable death!"
Tatsuki stood tall and without a trace of fear in her voice called out to the massive snake and said "It was I who summoned you here Serpent King, It is I who have call Heir of the Arigawa clan." The serpent king looked at the small girl in front of him and laughed and said "you dare give me orders, little worm! Be gone from here Daughter of the Arigawa clan I shall not smear my valor by killing a child!
Tatsuki was about to reply when her hand suddenly covered her mouth, preventing her from saying what she wanted to say. Tatsuki immediately realized that Shikamaru sensei had activated his shadow jutsu. Her suspicions were confirmed a few seconds later when he walked up behind her and squeezed her shoulder to gesture to keep her silence. When Tatsuki nodded her head Shikamaru walked towards the snake and started speaking in a foreign language that Tatsuki could not understand.
Meanwhile Ino had walked over to the Hokage who was standing beside Anko and Iruka who were puzzled at the snake's behaviour and had their weapons out. Chouji and Naruto were trying to calm the steadily growing armed shinobi whose looks of puzzlement were being changed into looks of challenge as they came to the conclusion that this snake was threatening to hurt their Comrade. Kenpachi had to be physically restrained by Hinata who aimed a jyuuken strike at his body to keep him from attacking the giant snake.
Tsunade who had finished listening to what Ino said nodded her head and with a voice that commanded authority said "At ease Shinobi of Konoha, this serpent means us no harm." The shinobi immediately stopped their threatening gestures and stood at ease with their weapons once again hidden. Tsunade nodded her head and said "permission granted Ino-chan. Ino smiled and using her clan's signature jutsu entered the consciousness of her master. Just as her body was about to fall, Chouji appeared out of thin air and picking her up in his arms and quickly told the Anbu to protect her body.
Tsunade walked forward towards the snake and again spoke in the same foreign language that Shikamaru was speaking in. The thousand headed Serpent king was surprised and quickly replied to her in the same tongue.
"I am surprised that you speak the ancient language of Sanskrit Queen Mother of Konohagakure." Tsunade/Ino smiled before resuming her conversation with the Serpent in the ancient language of Sanskrit which was spoken by Hindu and Buddhist monks. "I thank you for your words King of Serpents; while it is befitting that you use your Nag Maya (Snake Style Genjustu) to test the willingness of your newest student as is your right, However was it not yourself who asked King Habu to give her your summoning contract?"
The serpent King laughed and again replied in Sanskrit "you are well informed Queen Mother. However I am the King of Cobras and I will not accept a weak summoner!" As is my right I shall test her skills to see if she is worthy!
Meanwhile Tatsuki had managed to analyze the toxic venom that the Snake was emitting from its mouth and quickly devised an antidote to counter its effects. It was a complex and extremely rare poison that she had heard of only twice in her lifetime and both times by her grandmother who had taught her how to create toxins and venoms.
Recently she had spent her free time with her grandmother trying to better her skills in creating deadly toxins. Her grandmother had started teaching her to create more complex toxins and this was one of them. She had just recently learnt the formula to create the anti-venin.
She quickly made her antidote and ingested the medicine, and without waiting for it to fully take effect she quickly climbed the trees nearest to the snake and using her chakra and her Pencak Silat skills she quickly climbed onto the serpents body and taking out her kunai and wrapping a paper bomb to it she threw it at the giant snake aiming for the head in the middle. With a look of pure rage she said "Die you stupid snake; I'll show you how weak I am by killing you where you stand!"
However she was shocked when the large snake who was still speaking with the Hokage easily dodged it. She was even more shocked when she felt his large tail wrap around her small lithe body and hang her upside down in front of his face. Instead of being scared Tatsuki went through a series of hand signs and exhaling a large cloud of toxic gas straight in the Snake's face said "Ninpou: Dokugiri (Ninja Art: Poison Fog!)
The serpent king while speaking with Tsunade saw Tatsuki prepare her attack and he was impressed when she had created a temporary antidote to his poison gas that dispelled the illusion he was projecting. He was even more impress when climbed upon his back and threw her kunai at him with amazing accuracy, if he hadn't had noticed the slight vibrations in the air he might have missed the senbon needles that were aimed for his eyes.
He was only barely able to dodge in time, and when he captured and trapped the girl in his tail stillmanaged to get her hands free and managed to hit him with a final attack of poison gas. Although he was not affected by the poison he was so impressed with her skills that using his tail put her down gently on the ground. He then dispelled his Genjutsu to show his true form of a 10 meter long jet black King Cobra with a pale yellow belly and a single head and forming the distinctive cobra hood. His true form although ferocious was also majestic.
The serpent king then spoke in Japanese and said "you have sufficiently impressed me young one, it seems that although young you do not lack in skill or courage. Congratulations on passing my test! My name is King Vasuki of the Cobra clan; I am the 8th head of the Cobra clan. Your skills have impressed me and I accept you as my clan's summoner."
Tatsuki quickly realized that this had all been a ruse by the Cobra to test her abilities; she realized that the Serpent king was offering her a chance to further her knowledge and skills. She quickly bowed in front of the Great Serpent and said "I accept your offer sensei; I shall strive to learn all that you have to teach me." Vasuki smiled kindly and said "we shall meet again soon my dear." He then turned towards Tsunade and said "I agree to your conditions Queen mother Tsunade and find it reasonable." He then smiled and said loudly "I hereby proclaim Konohagakure an ally of the Cobra clan from today onwards. Let us work together to gain more knowledge and power!" The King Cobra then vanished in a poof of smoke.
Tsunade smiled and made a quick hand sign to release Ino's jutsu on her and then looking at Tatsuki said "Tatsuki-chan although you have signed the contract for the Cobra clan and your skill in poison based ninjutsu is good. Your skills in Taijutsu and Genjutsu are still not where they should be. You are also in need of a sensei who will teach you how to better these skills as well as teach you how to use your new summoning contract to its full potential. Therefore your new Sensei shall be Anko Mitarashi."
Tatsuki was absolutely delighted to have Anko as her new sensei but managed to keep her excitement in check as she walked over to her new sensei and bowed to her saying "teach me all that you can Anko sensei, I am a blank page waiting to be filled." Anko had a feral smile on her face and said "be ready to learn everything I have to teach you Gaki or die trying." Looking up at Anko's face Tatsuki realized that Anko was serious and meant that statement literally and not figuratively. She gulped visibly as she nodded her head in agreement.
Tsunade then turned towards King Enma and said "King Enma sensei you have the floor. She turned towards Konohamaru and said "Konohamaru-kun King Enma has something to offer you, but remember you have the right to refuse his offer if you are not comfortable with it or sure about it. Konohamaru nodded his head and walked over to king Enma and bowed down to him. King Enma smiled widely at the respect he was being given by his student and said "Konohamaru-kun I am amazed at your growth, it seems you are determined to exceed your predecessors in prowess, however you are still a babe in the woods when it comes to leadership and tracking skills.
"Therefore I have decided to train you myself and teach you all that I know. I will teach you all the arts of Monkey Kung Fu and Is hall make you a Saiyan. By becoming a Monkey Saiyan you will finally be able to meet your master The Toad sage in battle and battle him on even ground.
However this requires sacrifice Konohamaru-kun; if you decide to accept you will train with me and my clansmen in the Monkey arts for the next 5 years continuously and you will not be able to return to the village or take on any missions for the next 5 years you will only be training, eating and sleeping. Be warned my young student to train in the Monkey arts is extremely difficult and the cost of failure is death, the choice is yours to decide. If you agree to train with me then you will grow far stronger than you are now but at the cost of not seeing your friends and village for the next 5 years and if you refuse you will never know your true potential."
Konohamaru was silent for a few minutes as he weighed the Pros and Cons. He looked over at Naruto who smiled at him encouragingly. He then looked at his two best friends Udon and Moegi. He knew that Udon would want him to increase his strength after all they had made each a promise as well that they would also fight each other one day when they were both masters of their art.
He looked at Moegi whose face was unreadable but in her eyes he found the answer to the silent question he had asked himself many times over the past few days. Finally he looked at the Hokage who had a stern but smiling face; her expression told him she was happy with whatever decision he took. It was then that Konohamaru made his decision and walking over to the man he called master he bowed down and said "I'm going to spend the next 5 years in fierce training boss man, promise me that when I return you will fulfil your promise that you made me all those years ago." Naruto smiled and said "I always keep my promises Konohamaru." Konohamaru nodded and walking over to the Hokage bowed to her as well and asked "permission to leave the village for 5 years while I train to better my skills Hokage –Sama." Tsunade smiled at the boy and said "Permission granted Chunin Sarutobi."
Konohamaru smiled widely before looking at the Monkey King and said "I am not scared of a challenge King Enma sensei. I won't back out of the training. No matter what happens."
King Enma laughed heartily before saying "it seems I have my answer Konohamaru-kun. It will take me 1 week to make the required preparations for your training Konohamaru-kun, until then I want you to once again make sure you are medically fit and make sure your body is repaired as good as new and your chakra levels return back to normal. Because I guarantee by the time you're finished I'm going to break every bone and muscle in your body and reshape as I see fit. This will also give you a chance to say goodbye to your friends before leaving because once you leave you won't see them again for another 5 years I will reverse summon you to the Mountains of the Sarutobi Clan 7 days from now."
Once King Enma had his say Kumasari walked over to Kenpachi and said "Much like the monkey King I also have a similar offer for you my young cub. I too believe that your skills will be better forged in the caves of the Kuma clan learning the Kuma style Kenpo and Kuma Karate. However before you decide to accept remember that training with the Kuma clan is not a training regimen it's a lifestyle choice. Mastering the Kuma style training carries an 85% mortality rate.
"That means there is an 85% chance that you will die in training. But if you manage to forge ahead and pass the Kuma training style which consists of 10 levels, however after the training you will face me in battle and only after defeating me in battle will you be proclaimed a master of the Kuma style, you must pass all 10 levels and defeat me in battle within a time span of 5 years, there is no room for error Kenpachi because if you are unable to do so in 5 years, the stress that it takes on your body will kill you."
Kenpachi smiled and said "I am up for the challenge, if I intend to become the best I can be then this is the only way then so be it and if I die in the process. All the better because at least I died pursuing my dream." He looked at Lee and said "Isn't that what you taught me Lee sensei?"
Lee smiled and said "Indeed it is my youthful student; there is no better way to live or to die then to do pursuing your dreams."
Kiba interrupted Lee and looked at Kenpachi and said "Hey Kenpachi now you're a lone wolf an Omega wolf. But you cannot stay an Omega all your life. I want you to become an Alpha and lead your own pack. Think you can do it after your training?"
Kenpachi smiled and said "there is only way to figure out Kiba sensei." He then turned back to Kumasari and said "So how long will the journey take and when are we leaving?"
Kumasari smiled and said "It seems what the Toad Master says about you is true my young cub, you are a glutton for punishment. We leave in one week until then rest your body and mind. Say goodbye to your friends and family because you might never see them again. I will reverse summon you to the Kuma caves 96 hours from now."
Before Kenpachi and Konohamaru could do anything more than nod their respective summons disappeared in a poof of smoke. Tsunade then smiled and said "There is one more surprise for you young Genin. You have now met your new masters, however tradition states that your old masters shall gift each of you something that they feel will help you in your journey ahead.. This ceremony is the last ceremony to be performed before you can truly call yourselves Chunin of Konoha.

A/N: Sorry for the late Update unfortunately I am now doing Night shifts at work and wont egt much time to write. But I will try to write one more chapter before the month is up. I will attempt to finish this story by end of July. Let's see how far I get. Oh and if any of you were wondering the language spoken by Vasuki was Sanskrit.
Vasuki is known as the thousand headed King of Serpents in Indian Mythology. And seeing as Buddhism evolved from Hinduism and the fact that many Japanese are Buddhists. I thought it fitting.
