Chapter 19: Devastation Part 2
Nana could tell something was off. First off, no one was around, and that NEVER happened with this section. Secondly, the SCA was unstable, and that means that the spirit energy in it was nearly unmeasurable. The final warning was her own fight or flight instinct, and right now, she really wanted to flee.
Nana checked her weapons one last time, two Purges, one Purgator, (Imagine a shotgun, it helps.) multiple viles of holy water, mini flash bombs, and a rather long, skinny knife.
She turned to the girls and reminded them, "Listen, you three are here for support, not to glorify yourselves. I want you three to protect other spirits or redeemers that can't fight, nothing else. Understand."
The three nodded, and were already prepared for what laid ahead of them. Nana smiled at this, and thought proudly, 'They already come this far, with a little more training and I might have to worry about my job.'
When the four were ready, they enter the SCA, and were met with an unfortunate sight. Bodies of fellow redeemers were scattered across the ground, bloody and most likely dead. Equipment, that was probably meant to capture the akuma, was broken beyond repair.
The remaining redeemers had formed a circle, ready to use all of their strength to protect the middle. When they saw Nana, the group sent two of the remaining redeemers dragging a familiar tall, broad man towards them. When Nana recognized the man, her mouth dropped and her face went white.
"Misses S!" One of the redeemers cheerfully yelled, "We're so glad you arrived. We planned to beat down the akuma then capture it, but it's too strong! It broke free of everything that we threw at it and came after us." The redeemer started to cry, "The only reason that we are still around is because Master D fought off the akuma but,-"
"What!" Nana asked in horror in what might have happened, "What happened that caused him to look like this!?"
"The akuma used an attack that was aimed at us!" The redeemer shouted with his guilt flowing out. "When he realized, he jumped in-front of the attack. After it landed, he was no match for the akuma. The damn thing even, it even ate his spirit!"
Nana eyes widen, her worst fear was realized. She knew that after a spirit user lose all of their spirits, they'll die. And since she knew Master D from when they were both newbies, this was painful to hear. His face was the same as always, cold and stern, it's a pity it covered his warm and welcoming personality.
Leaving that aside for now, she knew that she had two options. 1) Try the same the plan Master D did, and hope it works. Or, 2) switch to plan B. Who was she kidding, she already decided.
"Everyone!" Her voice boomed ordering attention, "Evacuate the, 'Spirit Combat Area' at once!"
Reborn was impressed with Yamamoto sacrificing his arm to save Sora, and he expected Bianchi to save them from that clarinet girl. The old man came following, as predicted. The bastard had sent one twin after Tsuna, and the other was in a hospital room with the unconscious patients all around him.
Reborn heard under the man's breath on how he lost track of his, 'other' target. Reborn couldn't help but chuckle at the news that he wasn't the only one who couldn't keep track of Nana and her associates.
Just when it looked like his baka student was about to stab himself with the obviously poisoned blade, one of the twins yelled. When everybody looked up, and saw Doctor Shamal with a depressed look on his face and a very deformed twin.
"Reborn," He muttered, "I thought you said that I would be protecting a pretty young LADY! I don't want to show off in front of men..."
When the old man got cornered, he pointed out, "I still have hostages! You can't touch me as long as I have them. So, pick up that blade and stab yourself with it!"
Que other twin yell, "GYAHHHHH!" Reborn smirked. He figured that he was almost too good. He liked it that way. Every looked at the monitor to see the other twin's neck twisted in a weird way, ten years later later Ipin running with a bag in her hands, and ten years Lambo smiling as he said, "We're all done here boss, go at him."
As he watched the scene unfold, Reborn was curious on one point. He told Ipin to take a day off of work on this specific day in-case something happened, so what was in the bag? He knew that she wouldn't forget, so what was it?
Ipin was in a hurry, that was easy enough to see. But working against the 5 minute time frame wasn't easy. She knew that this time was when that thing showed up. However, she can't remember where the hell it was!
When she got out of the hospital she saw where she was, the Kokuyo distract, perfect! She was frantically searching for that crowd, the one she remembered when she was a kid who all looked bloody and broken. She finally saw them and ran towards them, then past them, and when close enough, with glowing blue eyes, chanted, "Entering Spirit Combat Barrier."
Tsuna wasn't sure where the man came from, but he knew one thing, he didn't like how he felt. When he saw him, he instantly could feel the darkness that he was in previously surround him. But what really shook him up, was his red eye with kanji in it.
The man tilted his head and asked, "Who are you? You have to be very familiar with death to come here." His eyes widen slightly as he stepped forward, "Oh right," his voice cooed, "Your the tenth's brother! This is excellent."
Tsuna stared at him with confusion, "Tenth? Who are you talking about? Who are you? And what is this place?" It was like the SCA, except for the colors.
The man blinked, and continued, "Oh right~ kufufufufu. You know him by Sora or something right?" Tsuna tensed as the man said Sora's name, and ready himself to fight for him if needed.
"Kufufufufu, don't worry," The man chuckled out, "I don't plan to kill your brother, he's too useful at the moment. No, instead, why don't we discuss something?" He gave a smile that looked, brotherly? Tsuna wasn't entirely sure himself.
Deciding that it was best to go along with the man for now, Tsuna asked, "Discuss what?" To his surprise, the man's face showed insanity and his inner psychoticness for a moment.
The man then voice rose as he yelled, "DEATH AND REINCARNATION!"
Nana wasn't in the best condition at the moment. At first, when she started against the akuma, they were evenly matched. She threw a flash bomb, blinding the akuma, and charged her Purges while it couldn't see. To her surprise, it launched itself at her, probably smelling her out.
She ducked under it, and fired her two Purges at it's face. Knowing that that wasn't going to kill it, she pulled out her Purgator and started charging it up. The akuma was growling at the pain before scraping off all of the weird substance. It sniffed the air, and charged towards Nana's location again.
Nana rolled under the akuma and started to run right after, knowing that the Purgator wouldn't destroy the akuma yet. When she saw the akuma was hot on her tail, she threw flash bombs towards it's face in hopes to slow it down.
When the bombs hit, the akuma screamed in pain. The wounds from before the bombs were done healing and it's eyes were back, but this time with a dark dome covering it's eyes. When it found Nana, it rushed at her and slammed it's fist into her stomach launching her into the side of a building.
Nana was quickly able to see the akuma chasing her down, but with blurry vision. She raised her Purgator and fired. Firing a light blue blast with enough force to send Nana back into the wall, and the scream of the akuma, Nana thought she had finally beat the dreadful enemy, but sadly she was mistaken.
She was sitting on the ground, trying to recover from the pain in her stomach, back, head, and shoulder, when claw like hands grabbed her collar, cutting her chin, and raised her. She opened her eyes to see the akuma in a fit of rage. That was when she saw that it was missing it arm and most of it wing on it's left side.
Now here she was, being held up by the akuma with it tail ready to strike. That was when a blur smashed into the face of the akuma. The claws cut her blouse, making her fall to the ground. When she looked up, she saw an unfamiliar girl's face.
The girl looked down, "Hello Misses, S. I'm sorry for not really introducing myself, but all I can say is that this," handing her a bag, "will stun the akuma long enough for you to finish it off. Next time we meet, I would love to show you how strong I've become."
After saying that, the girl ran away. Nana looked inside to see a ball of some type. When she picked it up, she was surprise by how light it actually was. She snapped her attention back to the akuma, and was surprised to see how it was just now picking itself off the ground. Her mind went back to the girl and became curious to how strong she actually was.
Seeing no button or switch, she threw the baseball size ball towards the akuma. The akuma instinctively striked the ball. The ball simply exploded from the impact, and Nana thought she screwed up. That was until the material of the ball started to expand over the akuma's arm, then body, until it fully covered the akuma's body.
Nana, not wanting to miss the chance given to her, pulled out her knife and poured her holy water on the knife, making it glow a light yellowish color. After covering the knife, Nana charged the akuma and jammed it into it's skull, hilt deep.
After stabbing the akuma's skull, Nana swore that she saw red, spirit like mist flowing out of the wound. At first it was sluggish, before the force was strong enough to spit the knife completely out of the skull. After picking up the knife, Nana saw that he akuma was glowing red before fading away into nothing.
Nana was speechless from the sight that happened before her. Later, when she finally got over what actually happened, she knew exactly what the developing team was going to work on, with no breaks, or raises, or sleep, until it was finished.
Tsuna couldn't believe this, this, 'Man' has apparently lived six lives, gone to six different Hells, and even hinted that he himself was an akuma once! Tsuna swore at himself for not being any physically stronger on his own, or he would of tried to stop him.
The man was smiled mockingly every time he tried to say anything, as if he was a child talking about Santa. It looked like he was about to continue their little talk when he suddenly jumped. He started to fade, "So he's here." he whispered, "Sorry child, it looks like we're out of time, for now. Bye, Kufufufufu."
"W-WAIT!" Tsuna screamed, but it was too late, the man had already disappeared. What ever was happening, Tsuna wasn't liking it one bit.
Leviathan stopped in her tracks, as a tear fell down her face, her pet died. She balled her fist before snapping her fingers, teleporting her in-front of Lucifer. In her rage, she grabbed his suit and yelled, "YOU BASTARD! Because of you, one of my pets were destroyed."
Lucifer's eyes were cold as he looked down at the man. "You're only jealous that it's free while you're still trapped like this, aren't you.
Leviathan jumped slightly, confirming Lucifer's claims. He smacked her hands away as he walked away. Before he left the room, he added over his shoulder, "You should calm down, we're about to make our move, and I'd hate to see what our lustful leader would do if you mess up on this."
After that he left Leviathan, who broke down crying.
