Jace POV
"So", Magnus asked. "Did you miss me, Jace?" Jace rolled his eyes and smiled. "About as much as I miss Vampire Boy," he said with a large grin. Magnus smiled and nodded at Isabelle and Clary who both smiled at him. "Now," Magnus said seriously. "I'm here to help with the small problem you have Jace." Jace perked up at that. "You mean about Alec?" he asked softly. Magnus nodded and then sat down next to Jace and Clary and Isabelle. "Alec," he said dreamily, "I miss him a lot more than you know Jace." Jace nodded and made the go ahead motion with his arm.
Magnus frowned, "Delicate things are at work Jace. If I mess up how I tell you this a lot of people could die." Isabelle spoke gently, "Then take as much time as you need." "Very well," Magnus said. He cleared his throat and continued, "Do you know about the legends of the Greek and Roman gods, Jace?" Jace frowned and said quietly, "Valentine used to read me stories about them when I was a child." Magnus nodded and then said softly, "The legends are all true Jace. The Greek and Roman gods are as real as you or me. They move with the peak of mortal civilization every few centuries. These days they're here in America."
"So," Jace snapped. "That's interesting and all Magnus, but what does it have to do with Alec?" Magnus continued, "The virgin goddesses have ability. It allows them to have children although they have sworn not to. Alec was transformed by this ability." "So," Clary said slowly. "What you're saying is that Alec is what? A demigod of sorts? Magnus nodded and remained quiet for a long time, then he raised his head and spoke softly, "Alec is a son of Artemis and he can't go near any of you know because you Shadowhunters and the demigods have a contract in place that states that Shadowhunters turned into Immortals can't contact the Nephilium. I'm sorry Jace. You'll never see Alec again."
And then everything became quiet and Jace felt his sorrow reach a peak.
He was never going to see his blood brother again.
Alec POV
Luke looked a bit nervous as he moved around Alec's tent. Alec sighed and ran his hand through his black hair before turning back to Luke as Luke pulled up the silvery jeans that Alec had loaned him to replace his old raggedy jeans that he had been wearing. Luke looked at him and asked, "What is with you and silver? The only clothes you have are silver." Alec shrugged and said quietly, "Don't know. I just like the color, I guess." Luke frowned for a minute and then pulled on the silver t-shirt. Alec noted that it was a little small for Luke and that it clung to his chest and showed of his muscles.
"How old are you?" Luke asked. Alec looked up a bit surprised to be asked such a small delicate question like that. He thought that Luke would most likely ask a question about how Artemis had a son or something like that. Alec responded, "I don't really know how old I am only that Artemis created about four to five years ago and that I was eighteen then, but I feel as if I have never really aged in all that time." Luke nodded and Alec immediately noticed the look on Luke's face. Luke felt sorry for him.
Alec shook away all thoughts of Luke actually feeling sorry for a boy who had it all and led the way towards the tent flap. He felt Luke follow him and then felt Luke touch his shoulder. He turned around in surprise. Luke spoke, "There is just something about you Alec that I like. I feel I can trust you." he paused and then continued, "When we leave tomorrow Alec would you consider coming with us?" Alec froze and began to shake his head when Luke continued, "Look Alec you can't spend the rest of your life following around your mother like a lost puppy. You need to see the world, Annabeth, Thalia, and I, we can show you how to be free." And then Luke left the tent.
Alec frowned. He was freeā¦.
wasn't he?
Thalia POV
Thalia looked up as Luke approached followed by a confused Alec. She watched as Alec sat down next to the girl called Zoe. Zoe gave him a concerned look. She had obviously known Alec long enough to notice that he wasn't acting like himself. Hades, Thalia had just met the guy and she knew that Alec was way overconfident and prideful. He didn't look that way know. Zoe asked the question that Thalia wanted to ask, but wouldn't. "Alec is thou alright." she asked concern in her voice. Alec frowned and said, "I don't really know." Zoe stiffened and turned to Luke.
"Alright what did thee do to him?" she growled at Luke, her fury evident in her eyes. Luke sighed and said, "I just asked him if he would consider joining Annabeth, Thalia, and I." "WHAT" snarled Zoe. She practically spit at Luke when she snarled, "Alec wouldn't join thou even if the Lady Artemis agreed to let him go with thee." Alec sighed and spoke.
"Zoe I'm actually considering going with them."
They all froze and then Zoe shrieked at Alec.
"I hate you, Alec Lightwood!"
