Alec POV
Alec felt his back stiffen at those words. "Zoe," Alec said softly. "You don't really mean that, do you? The only reason I'm going with them is because I feel that I need to see what this world is really like. Please Zoe, you have to understand." Zoe shot him an angry look. And then she got up and turned to leave. Before she left she paused and said, "Lady Artemis will not allow thee to leave." Then she stalked off. Alec winced. There was nothing like getting the cold shoulder from your favorite sister. Yeah well you could have avoided it by not telling her that you were thinking about leaving, Alex whispered. Shut up, Alec told him coldly.
Luke was grinning from ear to ear at him as Thalia and Annabeth stared at Luke. "Are you crazy, Luke?" Thalia ground out. "Do you really think that we can trust him?" Luke turned to her. "Yes, Thalia of course we can trust him. And besides it'd be nice to not be the only boy. Plus he's also older than all of us, which makes him the perfect adult chaperone. I also like him." Annabeth immediately said, "So do I."
Thalia gave a small groan. Alec smiled. These kids needed him. Taking a deep breath, Alec stood and started moving toward his mother's tent. He slipped in and turned to address his mother. Lady Artemis turned and smiled at him and said, "I hear that you wish to leave with the three demigods tomorrow." Alec took a deep breath and said, "Yes, I do."
Jace POV
Jace turned his head away from Magnus. His pain at the loss of his blood brother hurt him more than Clary or Isabelle would ever see. Jace carefully blinked away his tears and turned his gaze back to Magnus just as Isabelle asked, "What'll happen to him?" Magnus cleared his throat and said, "Most likely he'll remain with the Hunters of Artemis forever. If not he'll head to the City of Blood." Jace frowned and was about to ask what that was when Clary beat him to it. "What is the City of Blood?" she asked.
"It is the city were the Immortals reside. In other words it is a city full of former Shadowhunters who have become the children of the virgin goddesses. The city is their safe haven away from the world." Jace frowned and asked, "And what if he chooses to go to neither of those places?" Magnus frowned for a moment before responding. "Then I guess that he'll go to Camp Half-Blood." Clary frowned and asked, "What is Camp Half-Blood?"
Magnus smiled and said, "It is where the other children of the gods live during the summer." He paused and then continued. "If Alec goes there then he most likely will be in trouble with the gods." "Why?" asked Jace. "Because Jace, the only Immortals sent there are the ones who have conspired or threatened to conspire against the gods." Magnus responded.
Zoe POV
"That stupid, arrogant, foolish boy," Zoe muttered as she paced through the woods a good distance away from where she had yelled at Alec. Zoe spun around and continued to make a line through the grass. Then Zoe kicked at the tree on her left. She winced as her foot slammed against the thick bark. "Hey," a soft voice called. "Don't take your anger out on the tree." Zoe spun around as Phoebe walked up. "Phoebe," Zoe said calmly. Phoebe smiled warmly and asked, "Tell me why you're angry." Zoe took a deep breath and began telling Phoebe the whole story about how Alec wanted to leave them. Phoebe stared at her after she was done and said softly.
"It's his time Zoe. We need to let him go. He's no longer a young Immortal, he needs this." Zoe turned her head away and said quietly, "I know. It's just…..he has always been the Immortal I like best. I just don't want to see him get hurt." Phoebe smiled. "He is strong enough to kick the butt of any monster he meets. At least with him there the daughter of Zeus will be safe."
Zoe nodded and turned her head away. She didn't want to let her brother of five years go.
