He knocked quietly upon her chamber doors and pushed the door open. It was dark inside and he slid in easily.
"Why such darkness for so early in the evening pet?" His strong voice asked quietly and violet eyes glanced at him with a small smile.
"It is an odd feeling. Being so incandescently happy yet… utterly devastated at the same time," Lunar breathed out and Artemis stilled, the feeling settling in his stomach as well.
"It is as we have always planned for," he smiled, using his strength to keep it there.
"That does not take away the pain of it," she breathed, her voice cracking a bit.
"No. It does not," he responded keeping his distance. "I am so very proud of you pet," he whispered a bit brokenly and she turned to her heart.
"You will take care of them for me will you not?" Lunar breathed and a small tear trickled down Artemis face.
"Only if you take care of our girls," he responded and she nodded strongly.
"They are having their dreams come true. Everything I have ever wanted for them… They will have it all," she cooed and he nodded slowly making his way towards them.
"I am glad you are going with her. She needs you Lunar. They all need you," he whispered, one of his hands gently taking one of hers. "She has much to recover from. I know her Prince will help her but she will need you to hold her as she recovers from her demons."
"I hate him so much," Lunar snapped and he nodded quickly. "I feel I will forever be trying to make up for the last few months I sat by and watched her suffer," she said, her voice beginning to choke as silent sobs tore through her.
"Another reason you must take care of our girls… they are feeling the same yet the past is the past. We must move forward and bring in this new era. They are our future," he said strongly and she nodded, wiping the tears from her cheeks.
"I am forever faithful to them," she breathed bowing her head and he felt his control snap. Quickly he pulled her into his embrace. "Artemis," she wept, her arms latching around him.
"I adore you with everything in me Luna. Everything," he breathed into her neck and she closed her eyes painfully. "This is not our end," he said heatedly and she nodded painfully, not letting up on him.
"She wants to take you as well. She has always told me," Lunar breathed painfully and he felt a few tears slide down his cheeks.
"Than who would be with our Queen?" He wept and she nodded.
"You are far better than I my love. It gives me comfort you will be here for them," she breathed painfully and he buried his face in her neck. "It has been my sublime pleasure these last twenty years my darling," she whispered and he sucked in a deep breath.
"As mine my love."
"Perhaps in the next life we will be free to love," she said whimsically and he chuckled.
"I will live towards that dream," he smiled and gently pulled back, their eyes meeting and he pressed his lips lovingly against hers. She responded eagerly, their arms wrapping around each other as the sad knowledge settled on them that this was one of the last times they would live in the same place. But what they did they did faithfully. Their purpose would never waver. It was too important.
She let their warmth envelop her. She had missed them. Missed them so desperately and she only had herself to blame. One never realizes how much pride they possess until they let it tare about their existence. If there was anything she learned from being with Diamonde the last few months is how much her guardians dearly loved her. Their pained expressions they tried to hide whenever she was with her then intended. How utterly devastated they looked each time she snuffed them in hopes that it would be easier when she left. It never was easier… Sure… they knew about some age old prophecy that foretold of a future husband. They didn't tell her because they wanted her to have her own life. Even poor Minet who took the brunt of her anger truly never pushed her upon Endymion. She had been so wrong… but they had been nothing but forgiving. Gently her fingers ran through her cousin's hair and she sucked in a deep breath. She wanted to sleep… but every time she closed her eyes she would jerk awake afraid this reality would end. That it was just a dream and she would wake up once more promised to Diamonde.
She heard a sudden whoosh in her quarters and blinked until suddenly his image appeared across the room.
"I can hear you thinking across the palace," he whispered, his feet slowly padding towards her bed. She held her breath as her eyes greedily took in his form. He was more relaxed, his hair ruffed as if he had been trying to sleep. He'd obviously just thrown on a pair of trousers and a shirt, his feet bare. He smirked a bit at the warriors strewn across Serenity's bed deep in slumber. "I was afraid they would never go to sleep," he breathed taking a seat at the foot of her bed and Serenity smirked.
"Minet is still awake. She cannot sleep if I do not," she whispered and the blonde groaned.
"It's bloody annoying," Minet groaned and Serenity smiled softly.
"They made me tell them everything," she confessed and Endymion's eyebrows rose. "They wanted to know when I had fallen for you… and when I actually realized I had," she continued and he tilted his head to the side curiously studying her. "They had waited a year to ask me," she breathed and wiped at a few tears on her cheek.
"When did you?" He asked softly and she giggled quietly.
"It is apparently a matter for debate," she mumbled than she looked thoughtful.
"I believe it was when you saved my people…" She whispered, pressing her lips together in a smile. "Up until then I worried about you. Worried how I'd ever make you into a man worthy of a crown," he smirked a bit at her. "But than you surprised me. You were constantly surprising me…" She whispered, a loving expression crossing her face over the memory. "You selflessly took them… than protected me. I don't think I realized I fell in love with you then but who you were and who I thought you were finally collided. I respected you before I loved you," she smiled adoringly at him and he felt his heart thud in his ears. He wanted nothing more than to yank her into his arms and never let her go except the four sleeping bodies were preventing him from reaching her.
"I didn't realize I was far gone until you stopped me from training," she mused with a small smile. "Up until then I had just convinced myself it was a game and what an excellent player I was," she smirked and than she shook her head. "I wanted you to protect me. To love me," she smiled, her eyes twinkling at him. "After that I didn't want to pretend anymore… pretend you meant nothing when it was so obvious I thought the world of you," she breathed, a shy smile overtaking her features.
"I ached for your approval. You are the first person I have ever wanted to be proud of me," he whispered, "I wanted to be a King you would follow."
"Oh darling…" She cooed, her cheeks pinkened from her blush. "I'd have followed you anywhere," she giggled and he smirked at her. "Tell me this isn't a dream. That you are really here," Serenity whispered softly, a tear trickling down her cheek and the King of Earth nodded, gently holding out his hand to her.
"I am here. I will never leave you," he breathed and she gripped onto his fingers, pulling herself from the headboard to curl into his arms. Her weight was re-assuring and he curled her around him tightly. He couldn't sleep without her. Refused to even try knowing she was his and needed him. "If you asked my men they would each tell you a different time where they believed I had lost my battle with you," he began and she glanced up at him, her heart soothed by his proximity. "Nephrite believes I fell for you at the Negotiation Tower because I would seek you out when I was in distress," he smirked remembering and she clutched to him. "Zoycite believes it was when I saw you training. He said he had never felt a pang of distress from me so strong as when I tried to protect you. I knew I'd never win against your warriors… but I would die trying," he breathed and she kissed his chin lovingly, moving up his cheek. "Jedite thinks it was Jupiter's bachelor party… by then I had already started claiming you in my mind and letting it come out in the pet names I would call you. I was happily resigning to my fate that if I waited you would soon be mine completely," he let out a deep breath, his face rubbing gently against her own as his fingers sprawled across her back.
"And Kunzite?" She asked softly, her breath hitching as she caught the smolder in his eyes for her. Her whole body tingled as his fingers roamed over her frame.
"I imagine it was the day he handed me my first proposal I had drawn up for you. I did not know the procedure but apparently it was wrong…" He chuckled lightly and Serenity smiled adoringly at him. "He corrected it for me and said nothing of it, only asked when he would be able to send it," he breathed, kissing at the exposed skin of her neck.
"When did you fall in love with me?"
"When your 16th Birthday portrait was released," he mumbled and she looked at him alarmed. "I would stare at it for hours… fighting with you. Convincing myself I would never succumb to you… I covered it with hatred but I would stare at it and imagine what you were like. How someone so beautiful could be mine," he breathed and gently she stroked his cheek, her eyes never leaving his own. "I bided my time and knew you would come… and sure enough," he smirked at her and Serenity stared at him in awe. "I was expecting prim and proper… perfection… instead I got a thief who danced upon the line of good and evil," he whispered huskily across her cheek and she felt his hands tighten around her sensually.
"Before you even met me…" She whispered and he smirked at her.
"The minute you opened your mouth," he reiterated and she let out a breath.
"That is so pathetic," she mumbled and he chuckled lightly.
"I know," he whined and she lifted her chin and pressed her lips against his hungrily. He responded eagerly as her body wrapped around him. His hands were needy and she was clingy as they tried to cram themselves as close to one another as possible.
"Don't make me throw water on you two," a grumbled voice cut through the air and Serenity stilled, Endymion's arms still wrapped around her. "You can wait twelve more hours," Minet snapped, not bothering to lift her head and Serenity detached her lips from her love and let out a small chuckle. Gently his hands cupped her cheeks, his thumbs caressing her skin and he sucked in a steadying breath, his heart and body still screaming for her.
"She is right," he whispered and Serenity grinned. "I hate that she is right…" He mumbled and he heard Minet let out a lone giggle. "Though I would not mind scarring your senshi…" He mumbled when a chorus of four no's filled the room. A blush rose to Serenity's cheeks and she closed her eyes in embarrassment. "Just so you know… this will not be happening on Earth," he snapped at her and she nodded quickly. "I adore you," he whispered, nipping at her lips and she let out a content sigh.
"Stay with me. Don't leave," she begged quietly and he nodded. "Don't ever leave," she repeated strongly and his eyes caught hers.
"Never," he breathed and she nodded, content with his answer. It took a few moments but finally with a push Endymion sent Minet to the floor with a thud. The warrior groaned, her eyes blinking open to stare at the ceiling.
"Low blow your highness," she grumbled and he smirked pulling Serenity into his arms as he settled down beside her.
"Sleep Seren… tomorrow we have a very big day," he soothed and she smirked closing her eyes as she cuddled into his embrace.
"I just say I do right?" She teased and he smirked kissing her forehead.
"It's a three hour ceremony that includes you being crowned Queen of Earth and than you are to take the Oath of the New Alliance. Not to mention you will have to do it all again next week on Earth," he breathed and her eyes flickered open sharply.
"Three hours?" She protested and he smirked at her.
"Will you lead this New Alliance with me that I seemed to have stumbled into? They foolishly choose me thinking I was the one you would choose if you had the option."
"How well they know me," she breathed lovingly and Endymion felt his heart swell at her approval. "I always imagined you'd help me lead my Alliance… how nice to have the tables turned," Serenity giggled and he snuggled closer to her, his heart warming at her confidence in him. That she had wanted him to work with her on something so precious to her.
"I am afraid I have no experience," he breathed and she held her breath.
"On the contrary… you were groomed for it by the very best," she whispered and his lips captured hers. He pulled away and tucked her head into the crook of his neck and finally felt her breathing start to steady.
An unladylike yawn escaped her lips as her half-lidded eyes watched her sister approach.
"Yes?" Mars questioned with a slight smirk at her sister's sleep deprived frame. She was leaning half-hazardly on a bookshelf, still in her night shift and a heavy crimson robe wrapped around her frame.
"Why are you up so early?" Marlina whined gruffly and Reilie sucked in a deep breath gently pushing her sister's sleeve back on her shoulder.
"My princess is getting married today. There is much to be done. The question is why are you up so early and requesting my presence?" Reilie inquired gently and Marlina's lips quirked up a bit at her.
"I am not sure how it was so easy to hate you when you are so darn nice all of the time," Marlina mused and Reilie grinned a bit.
"It is because I am perfect and you are not," Reilie quirked and Marlina smirked fully.
"I think I have finally rubbed off on you sister," she teased and Reilie shrugged with a small smile.
"Let's hope not. Now what did you want?" Reilie asked again and Marlina yawned.
"Brother has been moping around pathetically… give him five minutes of your time will you?" Marlina whined standing straight and Reilie looked at her with confusion.
"Brother?" Reilie questioned and Marlina moved to her left and half-hazardly kissed the cheek that was waiting for her there. Jedite smirked at the young woman and kissed her other cheek in return.
"Now, if you will excuse me I am going to return to my delicious husband and wake him up," Marlina winked at them.
"Thank you sister," Jedite breathed and Reilie let out a breath taking him in. The door to the library closed and she placed her hands on her hips.
"You should not be so informal with my sister. She is not your sister," Reilie scolded and Jedite grinned a bit at her, his green eyes sparkling.
"Not yet," he teased and her hands dropped from her hips.
"You look taller," Reilie observed flatly and Jedite smiled taking a step towards her.
"I am not."
"Have you gained weight?" She inquired and he pressed his lips together with annoyance. "New hair?" She tried again and he shook his head taking another step towards her.
"A year is a long time my love," he mused and she nodded solemnly.
"Well, I didn't wait for you. I married and had twins," Reilie snapped and he grinned, his perfect teeth showing and she couldn't stop the small smile on her lips at him.
"Are you ok?" His voice was soft and gentle and it immediately broke through her thick skin. He watched as her shoulders sagged a bit and her frame leaned against the bookcase.
"I could not save her. She would not let me," Reilie confessed and he nodded, closing the gap slowly between them, his eyes focused upon her violet.
"I know how you feel," he whispered and she reached up, her arms curling around his shoulders as her fingers wrapped around his head. He pulled her into his arms, wrapping securely around her to give her the anchor he wished he had been for her these last twelve months. "Really loved how you set Diamonde on fire," he mumbled amused and Reilie let out a small giggle, rubbing her nose gently against his.
"Somehow I knew you would approve," she smiled and just reveled at being in his arms once more.
"I won't keep you long, I know today is a very important day…" he began and her arms tightened around him. "I just had to touch you," his breath was warm and gentle against her neck and she closed her eyes in happiness.
"My heart is yours Jedite," she whispered sweetly into his ear and his eyes closed in contentment, his face burying in her neck as their arms clutched to one another.
"Oh my love," his voice was low and affected by her words and it sent a shiver down her spine of pleasure. "I have missed you more than the flower misses the rain," he moaned and she let out a small laugh.
"How pathetic my love has made you," she cooed and he tightened his fingers on her causing her to giggle once more.
"I could return you to your husband and twins if you'd like," he offered and she let out a breath.
"One kiss first love?" She requested and he sucked in a deep breath, his jade eyes narrowing in on the lips that have taunted his dreams these many months. She leaned forward tauntingly and he met her in the middle, his lips pressing against hers sweetly. Quickly his tongue ran along hers asking for entrance and she allowed it, the kiss deepening as their arms clutched to one another.
Lunarian time differed greatly from Earth. The Earth had a standard 24 hour day yet Lunarians operated on a 29 hour day. Not that it mattered since do to their phases during the Lunar Cycle the Kingdom was often in darkness no matter the time displayed on a clock. Yet, their Lunar Cycle was starting over and light had returned to the whole of the Moon's inhabitable surface so for once the sunlight shimmered welcoming a morning that matched the time displayed.
"I've always been amazed how you could sustain life on this world," his voice was low and dull and Mercury watched him silently. He no doubt had been here all night, just staring at the blue and green glowing orb before them.
"I could explain to you our gravitational system full of life support devices but… it is not what you wish to talk about is it?" She inquired gently and Zoycite pressed his lips together sadly as his face gazed away from the open window.
"Do you blame me?" His voice was quiet, full of anger at himself and Mercury let out a soft breath as she took a step towards him.
"Blame you for what?" Mercury asked and he stood roughly from his chair, the object almost clattering to the ground behind him.
"For the agony that has been placed upon your Princess. For the year they wasted apart… suffering without the other," his voice had risen, marked with loathing for himself as he seemed to pace before her. She had never heard him raise his voice before. She was not even aware he knew how… "That vile man touched her… touched what belonged to my Prince, what I had robbed him of," Zoycite clutched his hands into fists as tears of anger misted in his eyes. He seemed to visibly shake with guilt and he took a shaky breath, trying to get himself back under control even though it was probably futile.
"Before I had been moved to the Moon I had been given the best tutors Mercury had to offer…" Mercury slowly began as she stepped towards the vast windows, her world floating on the other side of the Earth and she smiled at it warmly. "Philosophers, mathematicians… I devoured their wisdom," she breathed with fond remembrance and Zoycite turned to take in her image. It almost made him buckle. How he had missed her face… "Once I had been overwhelmed with a new scientific method so much so that I neglected a literature assignment. Oh how it ate at me…" she bemoaned herself, still a bit angry over the instance. He almost caught himself laughing at her animated form as she retold the tale. "I had never done anything but perfection and it killed me that I had not submitted something," she breathed and finally her bright blue eyes met his. She could see the brokenness in his eyes. He had her attention fully. "My teacher was a famous Mercurian scholar. I wept to him my disgrace and my failure… I was ready for him to reprimand me for my lack of concentration and make me live with the consequences," her voice had grown passionate and he unknowingly took a step towards her, ready to comfort her over her memoires. "Instead he told me…" she paused and looked straight into his eyes. "Get over it."
Silence passed between them and Zoycite gulped, gingerly holding out his hand to her. He knew he did not deserve her forgiveness, her love… but he offered it anyway in hope.
"What?" He breathed in confusion and she closed the gap between them, her eyes never wavering from his own.
"Get over it. You cannot be perfect. Do not let this destroy you," she whispered heatedly, her hands grabbing at his arms making him feel her words. "My love you happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time," she informed him and he felt his shoulders slump. "King Fergal was on his way to tell her himself. I had set up the meeting personally informing Serenity that she was to meet with my brother… she was going to be ambushed with the truth. You… just beat us to it," she finished with a half smile and Zoycite felt as if a weight had lifted of his chest and his knees buckled a bit.
Immediately she pulled him into her arms and he clung to her, his fingers gripping onto her uniform as his face buried in her neck. Oh how she smelled so sweet… like fresh rain.
"Please have me," he begged into her soft skin and Mercury smirked a bit, her arms wrapping around him securely.
"Only if you stop being such a girl and get over it," she whispered sweetly into his ear and he couldn't stop the small rumble of laughter from his lips.
"I shall try," he smiled pulling away as his hands greedily cupped her face, pulling her close to him. "How I have been so punished to not see your face, to hear your voice…" he ground out and she smiled adoringly at him.
"I wish I had more time to devote to your therapy Jedite, but I have a Princess to marry off today," she smiled with joy and Zoycite grinned. His lips lovingly touched her forehead, kissing her affectionately as he held her firmly in his arms.
"I will let you go as long as you promise to continue my session at a later date," he propositioned and Mercury smirked, wrapping her arms greedily around him.
"I have a feeling that you will be in need of many sessions General," she teased and he smirked, joy slowly starting to eat away at the guilt that has so long festered in his heart.
"Indeed I shall," he breathed and pulled her chin up and captured her lips. It was long and heated and full of promise… promise to make up for lost time.
She stared at the door for a long moment. Long ago she had memorized every detail of it. Every facet as she had waited for her Princess to emerge and forgive her. When Serenity had emerged over a year ago she had never been the same… yet as she stared at the door now she was aware of the healing that was happening within.
"I had assumed you would be here much sooner," she said quietly, her gaze not wavering from the door that held her beloved Princess and Prince inside, both deeply asleep.
"I had faith you would protect him in my absence," Kunzite replied moving to stand beside her and she nodded resolutely.
"Your faith is well-placed," she responded and a smile curved at his lips.
"I have always thought so."
"Shall we awake them for their grand day?" Minet breathed beside him and Kunzite gently took her hand in his own, her gaze traveling from the door to his crystal blue eyes. Slowly he cupped her hand between his larger and kissed her palm reverently. She felt the heat from his lips and something in her melted at it.
"Let's," he whispered slowly releasing her hand and a smile rose on her lips and she approached the door with the eagerness of a child on their birthday morning. He smiled ruefully behind her, his love for her unmatched. Yet, as the doors opened and he saw the two lovers lying in the bed before him his head tilted thoughtfully.
Well… maybe matched but how could he and his love compete with one foretold by prophets?
Gently he rubbed the side of her cheek.
"My love, I have to go get ready," he whispered against her cheek and she blinked than sucked in a deep breath as wakefulness hit her. She sprang up and he grinned at her as she tried to take in her surroundings. She sucked in a deep breath and grabbed onto him. "Why is your room covered in sheets?" He questioned with a small smile and she let out a breath and suddenly a smile grew on her lips.
"I closed my quarters when I returned betrothed…" She breathed, noticing her warriors had already left. "I didn't want him to enter them," she mumbled and he smirked at her. "I've been living on the other side of the palace. No view of Earth from there," she finished with a small grin and he tipped her chin towards him.
"You are the only woman I have ever let sleep in my bed Seren," he grinned and she smiled.
"I know," she leaned forward to press her lips against his when a sudden clap filled the room.
"Sorry. Wedding day. Save that pucker for later," Minet smirked before them and the two turned to stare at the Princess of Venus, out of her warrior costume and draped in orange silk.
"She is angry I kicked her out of our bed," Endymion grumbled and Serenity let out a soft giggle.
"I have a bruise. Kunzite is angry with you," she spat at him than marched towards the other side of the bed, her hands wrapping around Serenity's frame. The young Princess let out a giggle as her cousin yanked her from her white sheets. "But to finish your conversation for you…" Minet smirked looking up at Endymion as Serenity giggled in her arms. "You were the last man she took willingly to her bed Sire… the only she has ever let in these quarters… and the only man whom she has ever loved. All of her other conquests, which were only five, only had the pleasure one night. You sire got father than all of them just at the negotiation tower alone," she smirked and Serenity scrunched her face in laughter.
"You make me sound quite the harlot," Serenity snapped than narrowed her eyes. "Must you spill my secrets Minet!?" She cried and the Venetian smirked yanking her dear friend to her feet.
"What? I did not tell him about the dreams you use to have about him," Minet smirked and Serenity's face paled as embarrassment spread across her features.
"What?" Endymion laughed and Serenity gasped.
"Dead," she spat rushing after her cousin and Endymion smirked.
"Sire. Busy day," Kunzite breathed from the door as the two women rushed past him.
"Great day," he smirked. "I got them all Kunzite," Endymion smirked, finally winning Venus to his side.
"Indeed you did Sire and I have a feeling they will serve you as faithfully as they serve her," he mused with a bow of his head and Endymion felt the honor of that statement.
"Her always first," he smirked and Kunzite grinned escorting him from the room.
After a sufficient amount of primping Minet led her beloved cousin into the parlor quarters of her suite wrapped in a simple white linen robe. Lunar waited patiently and Serenity smiled adoringly at her advisor.
"Here to help a peasant?" She asked quietly and Lunar's lips curled upwards.
"Twenty years ago a spark traveled across the galaxy. It was a power no one had ever felt, a power that aligned stars… That power drew me three million par-secs from my home. Crown or not… I am yours faithfully forever Serenity," she breathed and Serenity rushed quickly into the Mau's arms. Lunar held her tightly, gripping to her as Serenity buried her face in her dark onyx locks.
"What a better person I am for your wisdom," she whispered and Lunar smiled gently disentangling them.
"I am excited for our new adventure," Lunar breathed and Serenity let out a laugh, her palm gently wiping a few stray tears. "I have always favored the young Prince for you," Lunar winked. "But here I am wasting time on such an important day…" Lunar breathed and nodded quickly to Minet.
"Cousin… may I introduce you to the famous Sun designer, Char," Minet grinned beside her cousin and Serenity's face lit up with excitement.
"My dear!" She whispered in awe and the man before her was trying to hold tightly to his emotions as he spied the woman before him.
"My Queen," he breathed brokenly and Serenity stilled in her tacks before him, awed at his reverence. "I am so excited for you," he said, a small tear trickling down his cheek. "I have finally finished it… it is stunning… perfect for the future Queen of Earth," he breathed and Serenity was speechless.
"But… how did you know?" She whispered and the designer bowed deeply to her.
"Your betrothed called on me personally a year ago to design something for you. Truly my greatest honor!" He started to weep a bit with emotion and than quickly regained himself. "I have sent it across the galaxy and it has been blessed by our people… your people," he smiled grabbing onto her hands reverently and bringing her across the room to a dress form that was covered in a silk cloth. Serenity's eyes filled with tears at his story.
"He did?" She choked out and he smiled adoringly at her.
"He is a great King. Thank you for choosing him for us," he cooed and Serenity felt like she couldn't breathe. Minet grabbed onto her reassuringly and she gripped at her cousin as she stood before the dress form.
"I checked it first… no metal I promise," Amille said suddenly beside her and Serenity let out a breath, a small laugh leaving her lips.
"It's stunning," Minet breathed in her ear and Serenity smiled broadly at the tanned man before her that was gushing about fabric choices and seams. She was going to be his Queen… the Queen of all the Sun People. With a whoosh he yanked the cloth off the form and Serenity felt all the air leave her lungs.
"I tried to design it after you… half moon… half sun. Do you like it?" He asked quietly, his eyes glued to his creation and Serenity was speechless. Before her was a stunning fitted dress, pure white with an intricate and bold gold lace overlay throughout. It flared at her ankles and hung elegantly on her shoulders exposing her neckline, while the fitted sleeves traveled down her arms covered in gold lace. "The King had some input on it…" He mused and Serenity let out a soft giggle.
"I bet," she breathed than looked at him with awe. "It is the most stunning thing I have ever seen…" She awed, tears filling her eyes and the designer let out a relieved breath than pulled her into his arms.
"Only the best for our Queen," he said into her hair and she closed her eyes happily.
"So, you do not mind me marrying your King Endymion?" She cooed pulling back to look at him and he grinned.
"That man has it bad for you… it is only my pleasure to send you to him in something that will knock his tunic off," he grinned with a waggle of his eyebrows and Minet giggled as she and Reilie went to start removing the dress from the form.
"As it so happens… that is my new life goal," Serenity smirked and Char grinned jovially as he watched the warriors remove his gown.
"I am glad you think so. Mosk, King Endymion's royal advisor has commissioned a new wardrobe for you. Only the best for the Queen of Earth," he cooed and moved, ripping off another cloth revealing seven new gowns for her eyes to delight in. "These are just the first batch, I have been hired as your personal stylist," he beamed and Serenity let out a small giggle, Lunar grinning at her. "It is hard to dress a Queen… but I think I was successful," he grinned and Serenity giggled again eyeing the gold and silver fabrics.
"Indeed you were," she cooed and felt Litelle pull her to the dressing curtain.
"We have much to do today Serenity… time to get started," The daughter of Jupiter smirked and Serenity grinned with a wink to Char before she vanished to put on the most stunning gown she had ever seen in her existence. It was perfect.
"What do you think?" Reilie asked with a grin as she spun before her Princess in a pale red gown. It was elegant, form fitting and flared at her knees. "One of my favorites by far," The Martian Princess said with a wink and Serenity sucked in a deep breath, a smirk coming to her features as suddenly Litelle, Amille and Minet appeared in identical dresses of differing colors.
"Have to love a dress that doesn't have a corset," Minet breathed easily with a wink and Serenity gulped as they all took in her appearance.
"Oh Serenity…" Amille breathed, a tear trickling down her cheek.
"It has been my greatest delight having friends like you…" Serenity breathed and Minet smiled lovingly at her. "What will you do now that you have no Princess to follow?" She asked quietly, tears swimming in her eyes and the four women looked at her as they tried to digest that thought.
"I am afraid I know nothing else but you Sere… I wish to know nothing else. I will have to petition your husband that you require sufficient guards on that dangerous Earth," Reilie breathed moving forward and Serenity grabbed onto her hands quickly.
"I have never been more happy in my life yet sad… How my lapse has cost us our futures together," Serenity breathed, trying to hold onto herself but finding it more difficult as each word passed through her lips.
"Stop it. I will not present my King with a splotchy bride," Minet breathed quickly, her voice having a bit of a waiver to it and she gently wiped at her cousin's face. "If I have to sneak onto that planet to see you… I will," she breathed and Serenity nodded quickly, letting go of one of Reilie's hands to grab onto Minet's.
"You are going to render him speechless," Litelle whispered and Serenity turned to look once more in the looking glass making sure her appearance was flawless. She paused only a second realizing her hair was no longer in the two traditional buns of the moon. Instead it was in one elegant bun at the base of her neck. It was heavy… but as a peasant it was hopefully beautiful enough for her betrothed.
"Your father and mother wish an audience with you before the ceremony," Amille smiled holding out her hand to her and Serenity grinned clasping it firmly, the other hand lifting the hem of her gown as her warriors led her towards her future, Lunar following closely behind.
Serenity clutched to her friends as they walked the marble halls of her childhood home. Amille smiled charmingly at her. She was allowed to do many things now that she had been stripped of her title and this… being able to walk arm and arm with her beloved friend without shame of decorum or station was her new favorite thing.
Lunar stepped before them and the five women stilled. They quickly disentangled themselves from each other and stood poised and ready to enter the small hall. Beyond it led to the grand throne room. Serenity placed a hand on her stomach, hoping it would quell her nerves.
"Are you ready?" Lunar breathed, stepping forward to take her charge's face lovingly in her hands. "I know you have been through so much these past few months my dear… but today starts a new chapter. A man is waiting to make you his entire world. The past is gone. When you step through these doors you are new," Lunar breathed and Serenity nodded, trying desperately to believe those words. With a gentle kiss to her temple she moved back and opened the doors.
Serenity entered slowly, head held up and back straight as her four warriors and advisor followed. Only three frames occupied the middle of the room. Along it's edges were servants and a galactic recorder who was probably taking notes on the day's events for the history books.
"Oh Serenity…" The Queen of the Moon looked at her only child and she quickly walked towards her. "My darling… how stunning you are," she breathed pulling her into her embrace and Serenity clung to her mother. "All grown up," she whispered and pulled back, their identical eyes shinning into one another. "Come," she cooed, taking her daughter's hand and leading her lovingly towards her husband and Artemis.
"Serenity… you have rendered me speechless," Fergal whispered, a small tear trickling from his bright red eyes and Serenity looked at her father charmingly. Gently he took her hand, bringing it to his lips to kiss it lovingly.
"Daddy…" Serenity breathed and her father quickly pulled her into his arms, sensing her distress. "You will walk with me won't you?" She asked sadly to him and Fergal cupped her cheek lovingly.
"No crown will ever stop the fact that you are my daughter," he said strongly and she buried herself quickly into his arms. Selenity sighed contently when suddenly a noise to their left got their attention. Artemis cleared his throat and looked pointedly at the two Monarchs.
"My darling… Though you are no longer heir to the Moon's throne I must tell you that you will always have the Imperium crystal within you," Selenity began and Serenity glanced at her mother with a bit of confusion. "It is a part of you, a part of us. Without it we would not exist," she said, gently placing a hand over her heart and than her daughters. "You must forgive me for the lie I told Diamonde… but desperate times called for desperate measures," Selenity elegantly confessed and Serenity had to use every once of self control she possessed to not laugh at her mother. Even when she confessed to lying she still did it regally and with perfect poise… "It will protect you always and help you protect those you love," she breathed and Serenity gulped grabbing onto her mother's hand, the power of that crystal so strong within her she was kind of hoping it could be taken away. That thought only flickered for a second though… she was who she was and she was proud to carry that burden even though she could not be the Moon's Princess.
"I am quite the powerful peasant…" Serenity joked gently and Selenity smiled and glanced lovingly at her husband.
"Actually… though you may have lost your reign over the Moon you will never lose your reign over the Sun," Fergal said gently and Artemis opened a small dark mahogany box. Inside shimmered a string of jewels set in gold and Serenity's eyes widened. "You have always been our beloved Princess and now you will become their beloved Queen. Our people are scattered throughout this galaxy in need of a leader… you are now that leader," Fergal smiled and Serenity could only stare in shock as her father gently placed the crown upon her head. "I am afraid though you will have to lose these silver locks…" He smirked and Serenity blinked as he gently touched her hairline and slowly her shimmering strands began to darken to a golden blonde.
"Looks good on you," Minet giggled behind her and Serenity blinked rapidly as Lunar held a small mirror to her. She barely recognized the girl in the mirror. Gently her mother stepped forward and undid her bun, Amille and Reilie coming to her side to quickly help put her hair back in the Moon's traditional buns.
"You will always be my daughter and no crown will stop that," Selenity whispered lovingly to her child and Serenity smiled happily at her.
"All hail Serenity, the Princess of the Sun," Litelle called softly and a chorus of here, heres echoed around her.
"I do not know what to say…" Serenity whispered in shock.
"I think your next line will be 'I do'," Fergal breathed taking her hand and tucking it securely into the crook of his arm. She felt Lunar gently drape a heavy train to her shoulders that trailed at least ten feet behind her.
"Off to my grand adventure father?" Serenity beamed lovingly at him and he nodded, affection for her swimming in his eyes as the rest of their party assembled before them. The doors to the grand throne room opened and hundreds stood to their feet.
"There is no greater thing," he whispered and she sucked in a deep breath, turning forward to face her future, her beloved a hundred or so feet away waiting for her.
"Serenity, The Princess of the Sun," Artemis announced loudly and applause echoed throughout the chamber.
