When Callie next opened her eyes she was in her favourite place in the world. She was in bed with Arizona. The other woman's back was flush against her front.

"How are we this morning?" She spoke into blonde hair before placing a kiss behind her ear.

"A little soar." Arizona replied as she stretched her arms out. "But it was totally worth it."

"Yeah?"

"Yeah." Arizona insisted, turning over to kiss her girlfriend. "Morning."

"Hey."

"I'm gonna go make you breakfast."

"You aren't gonna eat anything?"

The surgeon just shrugged.

"Not eating anything won't help your nerves darling." Callie knew how her girlfriend felt about flying. "I could always fly with you so you can hold my hand and get a return flight." She joked.

"I'd actually take you up on that if I didn't know how tired flying makes you. Besides, you've got that meeting." Arizona told her as she got out of bed.

"Oh yeah."

About ten minutes later the brunette pulled herself out of bed and followed her into the living area. She found her breakfast at the table and her partner stood next to it staring at a photo.

With Amber moving to Seattle, boxes of her things were constantly arriving at their place. Of course Callie had offered up the apartment as a giant storage unit until her friend got settled. The latest box had been one filled with old photos of them during high school and college.

Callie left her to her thoughts and ate her food. When she was done she finally tried to engage Arizona.

"Thanks for breakfast."

"It's okay." She mumbled back.

"You didn't have to."

"I wanted to." She mumbled again as she dropped the picture and picked up another.

"I wasn't eating much back then." Callie said as she stood and wrapped her arms around the other woman, resting her chin on the shoulder in front of her.

"You look..." But the blonde's sentence disappeared. She honestly didn't recognise the person she loved so much.

"Hey, some people were into it."

"Why weren't you eating?"

"I dunno, forgot."

"How'd you forget to eat?"

"Between studying, partying, drinking, popping pills and screwing it kind of got lost."

"This was before you hit your head?"

"Yeah. I got my act together after that. So if we'd met back then you wouldn't have been interested?" The brunette asked.

"Well you're definitely sexier with curves but I doubt I'd be able to resist your smile and charm." Arizona put the photo down and turned to face Callie.

"I don't know, I was more dark and broody... or off my face. And you'd have tried to save me which I'd of hated so..."

"We met at the right time." She leaned in to kiss Callie who moaned in response.

At that moment the phone started to ring.

"Let the machine get it." Callie insisted as she closed the distance again and moved her hands down to Arizona's ass.

"Hey Callie. It's Doctor Jacobs . I'm just checking you were still able to make your appointment tomorrow." The brunette suddenly let go of her girlfriend and moved into the living room to pick up the phone.

"Hey, yeah I'm still able to make it." There was silence for a while and Arizona tried to think who Doctor Jacobs was. The name didn't sound familiar. "Okay, bye."

"Who's Doctor Jacobs?"

"My shrink." She answered, putting the phone down and sitting on the arm of the sofa.

"Since when do you..."

"On and off since I hit my head in college. The last time was about a month before we met."

"Okay." Arizona walked over to her girlfriend as Callie spoke again.

"I have a lot of crap to deal with on a regular basis... and from when I was a kid."

"I know." The blonde took her hands and pulled her to her feet.

"And I've been so happy and just so all consumed by you but being in a relationship is different for me and we're moving forwards with the house and everything. And I fell down the stairs and..."

"Calliope." The surgeon interrupted. "I get it. You've been dealing with this for years, I just... Why didn't you tell me about this appointment?"

"Because I didn't want to give you any more reason to stress- with you going away and everything."

"You wanted to deal with your own crap on your own."

"I should have just told you."

"Yeah but it's okay. Now are you gonna come and shower with me?"

"Seeing as it's my last chance for two weeks..." Callie grinned as she pulled the other woman towards the bathroom.

Callie was sat at her desk thinking of the last time she'd seen Arizona. It was when the blonde had disappeared through the check in gate three days ago. It had been the longest seventy two hours of her life and she didn't want to think about how long it would be till she saw her again.

Just then her office door opened.

"Look who I've found." Jonathon said as he entered the room, followed by Amber.

"Hello." The brunette greeted her whilst also standing to meet her in a hug.

"Afternoon. Look at you, even smarter than usual."

"How was your flight?"

"Fine. How are you?"

Before she had a chance to respond, Jonathon jumped in.

"Don't ask her that she just sent her hot Doc off on a plane to Africa."

"Wow, and I thought me and Ryan could fight."

"We didn't fight." Callie explained. "Arizona set up a clinic over there and was supposed to be out there for three years."

"Lucky for Cal though, she missed her bitch of a girlfriend and came back." The dark haired man finished.

"The ex- girlfriend she punched in the face? You know I'd have liked her a lot more if you'd have told me about that. So why has she gone back?"

"Cal told her to."

"I suggested that she go and see if she still enjoys it or if she can try to get closure. I don't want her regret walking away from it further down the line."

"Very mature. So what's with the get up?" The red head asked, pointing to her friend's outfit. She was wearing a black pencil skirt and red blouse. If Arizona had been in the country she probably wouldn't have made it out the apartment door that morning with both items still on her body. The surgeon had a particular weakness for 'Business Calliope'. Unfortunately that wasn't the case.

"I had a meeting with the bank this morning. I'm actually waiting for a call from the surveyor right now."

"Why what are you two building this time?"

"Oh no. Not us two." Jonathon answered. "Her and Arizona are building a house."

"Wow. Look at you. I mean, I know you resolved the kids issue but this is big."

"She's the love of my life." The brunette answered simply.

"Okay, what happened to our Callie Torres? 'further down the line', building a house and 'love of my life'. I never saw myself having this conversation with you." Amber pointed out.

"It looks good on you though Cal, domestic bliss." Jonathon added sincerely.

"Thanks."

"The Doc must be really good in bed." Amber stated, immediately changing the tone in the room.

"We're not having this conversation. You're as bad as him." Callie responded, nodding her head in Jonathon's direction.

"I don't want details. I'm just saying that forever is a long time. For you to commit you gotta be happy in every part of your relationship. Including sex."

"I'm happy." She grinned as she responded. "She's amazing and it's amazing because it's with her."

"Good. I'm glad you're happy Cal, you deserve it."

"Is this you saying nice things to me to make up for throwing up in my spare room the last time you were her?"

"It was an accident."

"Don't get so drunk."

"Oh well that's rich coming from you." Amber scoffed. "You're memory might be shit but I remember you in college."

"So do I." Jonathon agreed.

"Speaking of which, did you get the photos?"

"Yeah. Arizona was freaked out by them."

"Why?"

"I've never gone into detail about what happened and what I did back then. Those pictures were unavoidable proof of the mess I was." Callie pointed out.

"So? You're not anymore." Her friend responded. "Besides that woman loves you."

"Exactly. She worried and there's no need."

A week had passed since Arizona left for Africa and they had only managed a couple of phone calls. Callie was asleep in bed when her phone rang this time. After about a minute of following the noise coming from somewhere in her bed, she found the device and answered.

"Calliope?" Hearing that voice say her name in that way made the brunette smile.

"Hey darling." The pet name produced a similar response on the other end of the line.

"You sound groggy. Did I wake you?"

"Yeah." Callie replied, stifling an appropriately time yawn.

"Sorry. I'm all over the place with the time difference, still."

"Well you never know when I'll be asleep anyway. This is better than going another day without hearing your voice."

"Even when you've just woken up you manage to be a charmer." The smile in Arizona's voice was evident.

"It's true."

"I know. I miss you too Calliope. I actually have some news which is gonna make it worse."

"What?"

"I'm gonna have to be out here longer than I thought."

"How much longer?" She couldn't hide her disappointment.

"Up to a week." The surgeon responded regretfully. "I'm gonna try for less but it'll definitely be a few more days than I planned. Sorry baby."

"I wish you could be here right now."

"Hey, you wanted me to come to Africa."

"No, if I got what I wanted you'd never leave our bed. But it's been good right? Being out there?"

"Yeah it's been awesome. Insane but awesome."

"And you staying out there is for something important, right?"

"Very important."

"Then I can hold on a few more days. I was just hoping to see you before I went to New York."

"I know. I'm sorry."

"It's okay." Callie said honestly. She suddenly heard a lot of noise on the other end of the line.

"Oh crap." Her partner reacted to whatever was going on.

"You gotta go?"

"Yeah. I'm sorry baby. I feel like I woke you up for no reason... Except to give you bad news."

"It's fine. Now go be awesome Arizona."

"I love you Calliope."

"I love you too."

"Where are you? It sounds busy." Callie asked in confusion.

"It's very busy but don't worry about it. How long before you go on stage?" Her girlfriend responded.

The two women hadn't been able to speak since their conversation ten days earlier. Everything seemed to have gotten in their way. Callie was now stood in the foyer of the hotel where she was attending the conference.

"I've got about five minutes. Did I ever tell you that I hate public speaking?"

"No."

"Well I do."

"You'll be fine Calliope. I don't know anybody who can talk about brain injury better than you."

"Thanks. Any word on when I can see you again?" Callie asked, desperate to distract herself and desperate to see her partner.

"Sorry I can't be exact yet. I should be able to tell you more this afternoon though. So just get through this talk."

"So I'll get another call from you today?"

"Definitely. Now go."

An hour and a half later, Callie left the conference room and was again in the foyer which was much busier than before. Sure enough her phone rang again.

"Hello." She smiled.

"You were amazing. "Arizona replied.

"How would you know?"

"Turn around."

Sceptically the brunette turned on her heels.

"What are you talking about?"

But then she saw. Standing across the lobby was her girlfriend. Although her smile widened Callie couldn't get herself to move. Arizona took the initiative and started to walk over, pleased with how her plan was going so far. Then just pleased to see the other woman.

When she was about ten feet away, Callie finally managed to make her legs work and took a few steps to meet her.

They wrapped their arms around each other and Arizona buried her face in Callie's neck.

"What are you doing here?" The brunette asked her in disbelief.

Arizona just did the thing that she had been dreaming of for almost three weeks. She kissed her. Forgetting everybody else in the foyer, their mouths met in that perfect way in which they always did. When they broke for air Callie tried again.

"What are you..."

But an eager mouth interrupted her again. After a brief second Arizona finally spoke.

"Do you really want to know or would you rather take me to your room?"

Callie could only think of one conceivable answer to that. She took her hand and pulled her to the elevator.

How either of them made it to the room without losing a single item of clothing was a miracle. As soon as the door slammed shut due to their weight against it though, nothing stopped them.

Callie had Arizona pinned against the door with her hands under the blonde's shirt. They lightly grazed bra clad breasts. Without breaking their kiss, the surgeon managed to get Callie out of her skirt and began unbuttoning her shirt. 'Business Calliope' was apparently adding to the fact that they had been apart and making Arizona even more turned on.

She then pushed the other woman back onto the wall perpendicular to the door. Her shirt was soon over her head and then Callie's hands moved to the zipper on her pants.

Arizona's mouth found its way to her lover's neck.

With one hand down the back of the blonde's pants, on her ass, Callie ran her other through her own hair, removing dark locks from her sweaty face.

Arizona looked up and gave her a smirk, prompting Callie to turn them so that she was once again pinning her girlfriend to the wall, seemingly in the dominant position. She leant in and kissed along Arizona's neck, taking her time now. She made her way to Arizona's ear and whispered:

"Do you know what you do to me?" before taking the woman's ear lobe between her teeth.

Arizona stifled a moan.

Callie spoke again.

"Do you have any idea Arizona?"

The brunette then began kissing down Arizona's chest and stomach, dropping to her knees in the process.

The surgeon tried to find anything to hold onto when she looked down. The sight of Callie kneeling before her made her even wetter. She watched as her lover pulled down her pants and underwear in one go. As soon as Callie's tongue made contact with her sex she almost lost herself but somehow managed to hold on a little while before letting her climax take over her whole body. Her girlfriend stood and put her arms around her before Arizona completely passed out.

"Fuck."
