Identity Shift - Sequel to Identity Crisis. Both Shegos are adjusting to their new lives. One hopes to make her relationship with Kim public, but Global Justice will do its best to prevent that.

Identity Crisis was a story I wimped out on. I created an interesting setup, and didn't follow it. In an early Drakken lair Global Justice found the original Shego, in suspended animation since a failed solo mission against the blue man. Original Shego is missing seven years of her life. The older, clone Shego has a nervous breakdown as she realizes everything she believes she knows about herself is a lie programmed by Drakken. Eventually the Shegos make peace with each other, recognizing they were both victims. I should have focused on the Shegos: the younger one's dependence on Ron as she tries to understand seven missing years in her life in terms of what has gone on in the world and the older one coming to grips with her revealed identity. Instead I shifted to Kim, and her own identity issues as her life changed in college. Older Shego, given the name Vegas Greene, was in protective custody with Global Justice while undergoing therapy. She eventually became an agent for the organization. Younger Shego was given the name Candace 'Candy' Young. If the Shegos ever find the person who gave them their names they'll probably beat the tar out of him.

Kim joined GJ after graduating from college with two bachelor degrees in three years... (The girl is driven.) Since agents and recruits are not allowed to fraternize Kim and Shego have kept their relationship quiet and are looking forward to the end of Kim's training.

Chapter 1

"You want to give Agent Greene a promotion?" Will Du asked in disbelief.

"Correct," Betty Director affirmed.

"But… But… the woman is insubordinate, undisciplined, and disrespectful."

"You left out arrogant and sarcastic."

"I do not believe those characteristics should be allowed to stand in the way of a deserved promotion, present company included."

Dr. Director allowed herself to smile, "Are you mentioning the characteristics in relation to yourself or to me?"

"I…"

She laughed and gestured to a chair in her office opposite her desk. "Sit down, Will. I am slightly ashamed of my evil idea and want to bounce it off of someone relatively devoid of imagination, but who knows Shego and probably harbors something of a grudge towards her."

"I have an imagination," he protested as he sat down.

"You either imagine you do, or you leave it at home when you clock in at Global Justice. Seriously, I respect your devotion to regulations and the letter of the law. I don't know if this is a good idea, a bad idea, a deserved reward, an incentive, or a punishment." He seemed puzzled at the thought that a promotion could be a punishment. "Shego has been very effective on all the missions to which she has been assigned, correct?" He nodded yes. "Even if we assume she had help of that red-haired woman who 'just happened' to be at WEE headquarters and whose name was left off the report the two of them were amazingly effective in shutting it down."

"Agent Greene has done a poor job with her recruit training assignment."

"Shego has done a poor job with the physical training, or simply hasn't followed procedures by the book?"

"It's the same thing."

She sighed, "No, it isn't."

"I think her psychologist made a mistake in suggesting she needed to take on more responsibilities."

"Her therapist didn't write that letter."

"What?"

"I had a talk with Shego's psychologist about some of the memos I had received, supposedly from her. She showed me copies of all the emails and memos she had actually written to me. It seems our Agent Greene has added some forging skills to her resume along with stealing."

"She should be discharged from Global Justice, not given a promotion."

"Where would she go? What would she do? The boys in legal still aren't sure about the status of a clone in the laws of any country where she was wanted, and I would prefer both keeping her where I can see her and being able to call on her skills when they are necessary. Her psychologist thinks the forged letter requesting more responsibility could be a plea for respect. And Doctor Turner said it might do her some good."

"So... When Shego thought she was tricking into you into giving her more responsibility - you knew the request was forged."

"But I also agreed with the Doctor it might be what she needed. So while Shego thought she was fooling me, I was still in control."

Will shook his head, "It's getting too deep in here for me. But a promotion? You mentioned giving her a promotion?"

"She might not deserve one for attitude, but if you look at her effectiveness she does. Besides, for her it would be a punishment."

"A promotion is a punishment? Punish me! Punish me!"

"Don't think I haven't thought about it," she warned him. "For you it would be a reward. For her it is a punishment."

There was a brief pause as he tried without success to digest the idea. "As Job confessed when God spoke out of the whirlwind your thoughts are above my thoughts and your understanding above my understanding."

"First, Shego doesn't really want a great deal of responsibility. She sent that memo to annoy me – and possibly to be placed in charge of physical training for that recruit class. Drakken didn't want to make her truly ambitious when he programmed the clone – he wanted a subordinate, not a rival. She wanted a little responsibility as a demonstration we respect her. She would rather sit under a heat lamp and file her nails or read magazines than be given real responsibility."

"That still doesn't—"

"Second, a promotion will justify a higher level of monitoring – at least for her probationary period. Third, it will give her a greater sense of being welcomed and accepted here at Global Justice and less chance of her becoming a free-range villain—"

"That hardly seems likely since Kim Possible is passing all her recruit training with record marks and will be an accredited agent soon."

"Ah," Betty chuckled, "that is where my idea becomes genuinely evil."

"Job… whirlwind… remember?"

"Were you as surprised as I was when we found out Shego and Kim were lovers?"

"I don't know how to ascertain your level of surprise, but I was astounded."

"She should have known that the holes in the reports about an anonymous woman at WEE headquarters would raise red flags with data and intelligence."

"Those are not departments in which she received training."

"The point is, that since agents and recruits are not allowed to fraternize we've enjoyed at certain level of pleasure from their efforts to keep their relationship hidden."

"It was your idea to set off a fire alarm when they were in the janitorial closet."

"That was when I discovered you didn't have an ounce of imagination. You should have thought of it yourself. My favorite was stopping by the recruit dorm to talk with Kim when I felt certain Shego was there. I don't know where she was hiding – under the bed or in the closet – but I discussed Kim's plans and future with Global Justice long enough to make sure Agent Greene was too cramped for any fun that night."

A light bulb began to glow dimly over Will Du's head. "And when Kim and Shego are both agents that impediment to the relationship will be removed… New regulations in regard to command personnel and agents?"

"Exactly. We must do everything possible to avoid sexual harassment in the work place. There is simply too much danger of someone with a higher rank abusing his or her position. You would feel quite uncomfortable if I were to place a hand on your thigh and stroked your leg in a suggestive manner."

He said nothing, but appeared to be thinking.

"Please, tell me you would be uncomfortable with that," she ordered.

He blushed, "Very uncomfortable," he assured her. "Does it really differ from the existing policy against harassment in the handbook and posted in every break room?"

She looked thoughtful. "Not really. There are two distinct issues. First you have what the rules, laws, or policies and procedures say are correct. And then you have how the rules and policies are interpreted, implemented, and enforced. I think a good rumor about a gross violation of policy in the French office will prepare the ground for a Draconian reminder of the policy and how violations will not be tolerated here."

"How do you plan to start the rumor?"

"That will be your job."

"I have no idea how to start a rumor."

"It's quite simple, really. You tell people not to talk about it."

"Excuse me?"

"You speak with a few key agents and command personnel on the QT, ask if they've heard the rumor about a violation of the harassment code at the French Office. When they say 'no' you warn them that, when they hear about it, they are not to discuss it with anyone – especially the press, and assure them that a full investigation will clarify the charges and counter-charges. Within a few hours the rumors should have been repeated and expanded to a point where everyone is familiar with them."

"Would that be fair to Agent Possible?"

"I have no interest in breaking up their relationship. I hope to eventually assign them to work together – I think they will make an amazingly effective team. But given Shego's attitude I wouldn't mind making her squirm a little longer. I feel faintly ashamed of myself for that, but also justified. You had her twice in her initial training – failed her both times. You are probably her most frequent target for ridicule – what do you say, Will?"

He smiled, "The idea of putting one over on Agent Greene? I don't think I can muster even feeling faintly ashamed of myself for wanting a little revenge. But I still wish to be fair to Miss Possible."

"First, the two of them have become very adept at hiding their affair. I suspect they can continue their efforts for another couple months. We won't prolong this too much – You are correct, it wouldn't be fair to either Kim or Shego. And finally, I have a group in need to a commandeer, and Shego might have the necessary skill set."

"What group are you considering putting her in?"

"I-7."

"But she doesn't–"

"She survived years with Drakken. She can survive I-7. And they need a firm hand. Do you want to be put in charge of them?"

"I was, once."

"Oh, that's right. You lasted, what? One morning?"

"I don't believe I lasted until noon. The same group?"

"We can't keep them – can't afford to pay what they'd earn in the public sector. We need to find some way to hold on to them... It's thin, but they're still damn effective."

"I-7 might be sufficient punishment for agent Greene without... But she needs the promotion to be placed in charge of the unit, doesn't she?"

"Exactly. Still not sure how we'll work out the Kim thing. Maybe the rules are different for pre-existing relationships. After you start the rumor go through the rule book and figure out how to make happily ever after for them."

"As if anyone could be happy with agent Greene."

"That's for Kim to decide," Betty Directly reminded him.

"I assume she'll receive the promotion in two weeks when the recruits graduate?"

"Exactly."

"I was looking at apartments today," Shego nervously whispered to Kim in the green woman's Spartan quarters.

"Sounds great," Kim purred.

"And you really want us to move in together?"

"Did anyone ever tell you that you're really insecure?"

"Hey this is a big step."

"I want a place with a decent sized bed. These last couple months have... What have you looked at? Can I see them? I want something better than my apartment in Providence."

"I actually put a deposit down on one. It looks so great I didn't want to risk losing it. Real close. Just redid the bathroom. Nice kitchen... Okay, the living room and second bedroom are dinky and–"

"Two bedrooms?"

"Guest bedroom or office space. Anyway, view isn't great, but a beautiful old neighborhood. Want to check it out on Saturday?"

"The only things my place in Providence had were the dinky living room and lousy view. Will you carry me over the threshold?"

"And then throw you down on the bed and ravish you?"

"Does it have a bed?"

"No... Have to move your stuff out of storage."

"Well, pencil me in for the ravish part once there's a bed. I am so looking forward to becoming an agent so we don't have to sneak around like this."

"You and me both," Shego agreed and hugged Kim tighter.

The next day someone asked Shego if she knew what was happening in the French office. The woman who asked the question wasn't sure what had happened, but was certain it must have been dreadful.

Elizabeth Director congratulated the new agents at the ceremony on the completion of their training. Kim was given a special award for tying the highest marks ever made during recruit training. Commendations were made to three agents. A retirement was announced. Shego frowned slightly as she was called to the platform. Perhaps a commendation for the WEE job?

The green woman stared in amazement as Betty Director announced the promotion. There was a brief moment of elation and she felt certain she heard Kim cheering for her. It was followed with a terrible swiftness by a feeling of dread. For almost two weeks warnings against relationships between command personnel and agents had been the biggest topic of conversation.

"Me?" Shego whispered in disbelief. "I don't deserve this."

"Don't be so modest," Dr. Director whispered back, smiling broadly.

"Trust me, you deserve this," Will Du, who had been standing on the platform behind Betty, agreed. "You really deserve this."

Will was also smiling broadly. They both seemed so delighted Shego wondered for a minute if they realized just how much her plans with Kim were being screwed, but she rejected the idea. She was far too good at avoiding detection for anyone to realize she and Kim were lovers.

Chapter 2

At the reception following the ceremony many Global Justice personnel wanted to congratulation Kim, or Shego, or both. It was almost an hour before they had a couple minutes without well-wishers around them. "I think the promotion is wonderful!" Kim told Shego enthusiastically.

"I need to turn it down," Shego grumbled.

"Why?"

"'Cause it messes things up. Someone in the French office screwed up and now they're watching for 'inappropriate relationships' between leaders and agents."

"We're not inappropriate."

"You know that and I know..." Shego's voice trailed off as Dr. Director and Will Du approached the pair.

Will shook Kim's hand, "Congratulations on achieving marks equal to my own during training."

"Thanks." Kim looked at the head of GJ. "Does Shego's promotion cause any kind of problem for the two of us getting an apartment together?"

"What?"

Shego hissed at Kim for bringing it up. But Kim continued. "We've known each other for years. And I was hoping we'd be able to find a–"

"Two bedroom apartment. There was one I was looking at," Shego interrupted.

"I saw it last week," Kim added.

"While you were still a recruit and she was your trainer?" Will asked.

"It was my idea," Kim assured him. "I mean, it's like my mom's a second mother to Shego."

"Oh, so the two of you are like sisters?" Betty managed to ask innocently. She had to bite her tongue to keep from laughing as Kim suddenly blushed a brilliant crimson.

"Uh, yeah, I... kinda," Shego managed to stammer.

Betty looked skeptical. "I'm not sure how that would look – new agent and command personnel. I would advise holding off the apartment for a little while. I'll have someone in HR give it a smell test."

"We put a deposit down," Kim complained.

"Why doesn't Ms. Greene move in while Ms. Possible moves into the agent quarters?" Will suggested.

"The rent's kind of steep for one," Shego argued.

"Fortunately you'll receive a small raise," Betty reassured her. "If it was really Kim's proposal–"

"It was," Kim insisted.

"Well, if it's your idea, and you've known each other before you were ever in Global Justice I imagine HR will take a few weeks and agree everything is fine."

"Weeks?" Kim sighed. "Can you ask them to expedite their ruling?"

"Oh, I would strongly advise against taking that step," Will advised.

"Why?"

Betty explained, "One of the unfortunate facts about that department is that if you ask them to expedite something they want to investigate to see why the request was made and they are sure to imagine some problem which will delay the decision or cause them to give a negative answer."

"But, of course," Will warned, "if you don't tell them you need an answer by a deadline they procrastinate terribly."

"So we're basically screwed either way?" Shego clarified.

"Oh, don't say that," Betty chided. "Will and I will do our best to see the two of you don't get screwed."

Betty's smile made Shego wonder again if the director of GJ might suspect something, but once again ruled it out. She and Kim were far too careful to be caught. The green woman changed the subject, "What can you tell me about the unit you're putting me in charge... You're really putting me in charge of a unit? That just sounds crazy."

"Your therapist wrote a note saying you could handle greater responsibility. This is a very small, but very special unit–"

"Elite field unit?"

"No, they mostly work here... That's not it, the full-time members are... More than ninety percent of the unit... It gets rather complicated. But members of the team do occasionally go out for investigations. They're a bit different, but we believe you have the experience necessary for this particular group."

Kim and Shego both looked puzzled. Kim wanted to know, "What experiences? She worked with Drakken and for Global Justice as a field agent and trainer."

"And went through a lot of therapy," Shego added, "but I don't see any of that preparing me for a command position."

"You might be surprised," Betty assured her. "Come in a little early on Monday. Oh, and leave the address of that apartment with HR. We need to be able to reach command personnel twenty-four seven in case of emergency." The director of Global Justice turned to Kim, "You might come with her on Monday. Now that you're an agent you'll be assigned a unit, but–"

"Could I be assigned to Shego's unit?" Kim asked. "I'd love to work under..." Kim stopped and blushed. "I mean, I..."

"There are some very specific criteria for assignment to this unit," Will told her, "and you lack the qualifications."

Betty laughed, "In some ways you might be eminently qualified for the work, based on experience," she told Kim. "But Will is right. You'll be assigned to a more conventional unit."

For the new agents it was a weekend to relax before they were assigned their new duties or sent for advanced training on Monday.

Kim and Shego attended the party for the new agents on Saturday, but left early and separately for the new apartment. And it was noon on Sunday before they got out of bed and went shopping for groceries. After dinner on Sunday Kim headed to the agent dormitory by GJ command. She wanted to look over her temporary quarters and find ways to slip in or out while remaining unobserved.

"I've asked Will to stay and give you orientation for your new position after the introductions," Dr. Director told Shego Monday morning as they walked down a corridor. "There is relatively little paperwork–"

"Do I get a secretary?"

"You shouldn't have that many reports – unless something big comes up. You can get someone from the secretarial pool in that situation. I prefer you write your own reports."

"But to answer the phone?"

"I doubt if five people have the number for I-7. And if I call I want to talk with you."

"This unit sounds terribly mysterious," Kim commented.

"It's the idiot savant squad," Will muttered.

"It is not," Betty warned him sharply. "At least, most of them aren't." She turned to Shego, "They are all brilliant in their particular fields. We lose a lot of them to the private sector and other agencies, but they... Ah, here we are."

Betty stood back and let Will open the door. The door opened into a huge room, which appeared to be filled with largely empty cubicles. A man sat on a desk which would probably have been taken by a receptionist – if the unit had a receptionist, and two other people stood chatting with him.

"Betty," a tall, thin black woman smiled and nodded. She was middle-aged, with cheekbones so high and sharp you could cut paper with them.

"Iris," Dr. Director replied with a nod. "Glad you three could be here." She turned to Shego, "These three work in the area, university and hospitals. We call them in when we need miracles."

"We aren't that good," Iris laughed.

"Speak for yourself," the man sitting on the desk told her.

Elizabeth Director pointed to Shego, "This is Vegas Greene. She'll be heading I-7 and will call you if something comes up. Once she's on top of things she'll visit you in your day jobs." The head of GJ pointed to the African-American woman, "Doctor Iris Brown, greatest expert on mutagens in the world. Teaches at the university and works for the CDC."

Shego and the black woman shook hands.

The man sitting on the desk was staring hard at Shego. Betty introduced him as, "Doctor Philip Williams, recombinant DNA, worked with Amy Hall."

"You're Shego," Dr. Williams stated.

"Yes."

"A tissue sample. I need a tissue sample!"

"No."

"I want to see–"

"NO!" Green plasma flames glowed around Shego's hands. Kim put a hand on the older woman's shoulder, although Shego made no threatening gesture.

"You might discuss each other's opinions over coffee in a few weeks," Betty suggested. She gestured to the second man, whose little remaining hair was white. "You know the forensics on television programs is science fiction–"

"It's crap," the balding man said, "call it like it is."

"Well," Betty continued, "Doctor Isaac Swartz here can do more in reality than they can in fiction."

"I love a good corpse," he told Shego. He gave her a wink, "Don't mind looking at live bodies either."

"Please remember where you are," Betty sighed.

"Give me a break, I don't meet a lot of live ones."

There were a few minutes of casual conversation, interrupted at one point by a "Will you kindly be quiet," from a cube to one side and a call of, "Shut up, Trev," from the other side.

After the doctors left Shego was introduced to 'Trev', Trevor Whittier.

"You should be wearing your uniform," Will told him.

"Will Du, my favorite anal retentive twit," Trev replied. "You should take the stick out of your ass."

"This is Dr. Director and your new supervisor," Will reminded him.

"Fire me," the sloppily dressed man suggested.

"Agent Whittier specializes in data recovery from computers and cryptography," Betty Director told Shego. "A lot of law enforcement agencies would love to have him."

"So they cut me slack around here," Trevor warned. "Hey, are you Kim Possible?" Kim nodded yes. "I know your buddy Wade through the internet. Great guy."

"We assume your experience tolerating Drakken will enable you to supervise Agent Whittier," Betty explained.

"I threatened Drakken a lot," Shego told the head of GJ.

"If you think it will work, you're free to try."

"Sometimes I even hurt him."

"You will need to find your own style as supervisor."

Shego cracked her knuckles, "He looks like a smart guy. Probably won't have to do it more than once to show I'm serious."

"Hey, remember other places would hire me," Trevor reminded her nervously.

"How much crap will they put up with from you?" Shego asked. "I don't give a damn how you dress if you get your work done. We'll work on," Shego made 'air-quotes', "our 'personal space' later."

"That was inappropriate," Will whispered as they left Trevor's work area.

"It was appropriate… At least if it works," Dr. Director whispered in return.

They stopped at an empty desk, "Where is Agent Runyon?" Betty called.

"Siggy's been on vacation for a week," the feminine voice answered.

Kim pointed to an envelope on the desk addressed to Dr. Director. The one-eyed woman spoke as she picked it up and opened it. "Agent Runyon claims to be psychic—"

"Fake, obviously," Will interrupted.

"We can't verify that claim, but at the very least he can be amazingly intuitive. He will be out of the office often with preliminary investigations." She opened the folded paper inside the envelope. "And he gives his regards to the new I-7 supervisor, and wishes you luck with Trevor."

"That hardly requires a psychic," Will snorted.

"Would he have known a week ago I was appointing a new head?"

"No, but he could have left the message in case you did, it's the only reason you'd come in here – or he could have snuck in yesterday to leave it."

"I never affirmed he was psychic, only that he made the claim. And, at the very least, he is amazingly intuitive."

"He also has a nasty sense of humor," Will added.

Betty looked at Shego, "Agent Du didn't last long in this position."

The last person in the large area was a middle-aged Asian woman with a huge work space. She looked up from something on her desk, her eyes huge behind thick glasses, as Dr. Director made introductions. "Mary Ling, this is Vegas Greene, the new supervisor here. Shego, Agent Ling is a genius in miniaturized surveillance equipment."

Mary took off the thick glasses and put them down on the desk. She rubbed her eyes and looked at Shego before offering her hand. Apparently the thick lenses were only needed for the delicate task at hand. "Please remember, part of your job is to protect me from this crazy woman. When you want things this small there are limits to what you can pack in."

"Got your back," Shego promised.

Agent Ling glanced at the final member of the group. "Kim Possible?"

"Yes."

"I helped design a couple parts of your old Kimmunicator." She gestured at the many small devices around her, "And your friend, Mr. Load, helped design many of these. A most brilliant man."

"Let me show you your office," Betty told Shego.

"It's a bit of a mess," Dr. Director apologized. "Last heads of I-7 didn't stay long enough to get things organized. There is practical joke warfare going on between Agents Whittier and Runyon. Two of them got caught in the crossfire."

"If you can stop it," Will told Shego, "I'll call you a genius."

"Three full-time agents, two of them dysfunctional, and three part-time medical researchers... That's I-7?" Shego complained. "I could do more as a field agent. Pair me with Kim and–"

"I-7 is more than that," Betty assured her. "First, the six you mentioned have special skills. You will be asked by various governmental agencies to allow them to work on cases outside of Global Justice. You will attempt to cooperate whenever possible. Global Justice encourages cooperation. Second, Global Justice is terribly underfunded and sometimes has trouble holding on to agents with special skills. You will be assigned agents... If you can help us hold on to them you're worth your weight in gold. At the very least you need to review skill sets of former agents and... Point A, you will never contact them directly but will go through their superiors in whatever agency they now work with if Global Justice needs to consult them. And, point B, you'll need to to go to IT this afternoon and get clearance for access to the files."

"Or I can ask Trev to crack in for me."

"That is wrong!" Will sputtered, "He–"

"You could do that," Betty agreed, "But you should have your own access codes for when he's not around or if he's in a pissy mood. I-7 is also the contact point for many experts in a variety of fields who are not agents. When Global Justice has need to consult these individuals it will be your job. On occasion, if one of them finds something he or she thinks will be of interest to Global Justice, they will email the information to us. Their dossiers are on the computer also. Send emails introducing yourself. Take them out for coffee or lunch if they live close or are traveling through. A few may be a little eccentric, but I don't think any are as much trouble as Whittier and Runyon. Your experience with Drakken should give you the patience necessary."

Kim giggled and impulsively gave Shego a hug, "You're an important person at Global Justice."

"Kim!" Shego hissed, "agent-command relationships."

"That is only to insure command personnel don't abuse their authority over agents," Will reminded them as Kim let go of Shego. "Kim initiated it."

Kim looked innocent, "So, if I gave Shego a little pat on the rear," Kim punctuated her question by patting Shego's bottom – and adding a pinch the others couldn't see, but made Shego open her eyes a little wider in surprise – "that would be okay?"

"That is entirely inappropriate," Dr. Director told Kim. "Command personnel should be treated with due respect." She looked at Shego, "Commander Greene?"

"Yes?"

"You should reprimand Agent Possible for the fanny-slapping. It is inappropriate behavior."

Shego straightened up, "Agent Possible," she barked.

"Yes?" Kim answered.

"You will keep your hands where they belong!"

Kim smirked, "I always try and and put my hands where they belong."

Shego blushed at the innuendo, and Betty Director could barely restrain her smile.

"Kim!" Shego ordered. "Not now!" "Dear God, I said that wrong. I hope she doesn't answer, 'Okay, when?'."

Kim assumed her puppy-dog pout look, "Sowwy. I'll be good. Don't punish me, pweeze."

"I am so going to punish you if you screw up our moving in together," Shego thought as she tried to find words.

Betty diffused the tension, "Kim, I know you've known Shego for years and are friends now, but an organization like Global Justice requires discipline and respect from agents towards those in leadership positions. Please remember that. She could write you up for what you just did, which would look bad on your record."

"I don't want to punish her," Shego assured Betty. "Oh yes I do."

"Would it be permissible for an agent to ask a commander to lunch to apologize?" Kim asked.

Dr. Director glanced at her watch, "I suppose, if she accepts. Agent Possible – new agents receive their assignments in room B-17 at one. Commander Greene, that would be a good time for you to go to IT and get your security codes. Will can give you further orientation on your position after IT. Oh, congratulations and good luck with I-7."

Well, the shift here was obvious. Initial premise was to force Kim and Shego to keep their relationship hidden for comedic purposes. But I needed an impediment to force Kim and Shego to keep their relationship secret, and a promotion for Shego seemed like the most logical choice. And, of course, that required a position to go along with the promotion and suddenly a Mission Impossible scenario (original television series) of various experts who could be called in for specific tasks came into being and it shifted from comedy to action, with Kim being added to Shego's office as someone to work with Shego and get the fights and explosions done. And at that point I realized I'd morphed one idea too far into another and gave up on further writing. [Agent Runyon doesn't think he's psychic, but makes the claim to impress others. He thinks he is simply very intuitive in reconstructing a crime scene. In fact he is slightly psychic, a power called re-cognition - seeing the past. (Pre-cognition is seeing the future).]
