« You, you, you… and you… », John Cena was showing one by one the New Nexus members rindside. He marked a pause much for the suspense, then made a big arm movement and pointed towards the ramp. « Out of here ! ».

« What ? », David Otunga shouted, bewildered but already raging. CM Punk was staring at Cena with wide eyes, quickly evaluating how bad his situation was becoming. « We've done nothing wrong ! », Mc Guilicutty added. But Cena didn't want to hear any of this, and reminded them that as guest referree, he had the right to ban anyone from ringside if he judged it necessary.

CM Punk was feeling doomed. He knew he had pushed Cena's button a little bit, but it had just been for a few weeks. Barrett had tormented him for months ! And still, Cena was giving the Brit the advantage in this match. After a bit of rebellion, Otunga, McGuilicutty, Harris and Ryan left, staring at their leader with sorry eyes, and glancing at their Corre counterpart with growls.

The Corre members, Ezekiel Jackson and Drew McIntyre were showing big genuine broad smiles, as happy as kids on Christmas day. Barrett glanced at the retreating New Nexus and at his own team. Something was odd. Slater and Gabriel were nowhere to be seen. He wanted to meet one of his teammates gaze to have confirmation that their plan had worked, but they were keeping their focus on the New Nexus. Himself didn't want to look away from CM Punk for too long. Who knew what a man who was trapped against a wall was capable of. Wade stared back at CM Punk, unable to suppress a little smile. The evening was actually really good. The impostor was going to meet some bad ending, Slater and Gabriel had apparently deserted the New Nexus and would thus soon join The Corre, and John Cena had apparently decided to bury the hatchet. Finally.

Then, Cena turned and considered the two members of The Corre for awhile. He smiled, then pointed his finger towards them.

« You…. And you…. »

Wade Barrett closed his eyes, knowing what would happened next. The Corre was banned from ringside too.

Drew McIntyre and Ezekiel Jackson saw Cena slapping CM Punk in the face as they were walking up the ramp, and it gave them some hope. But as they were about to pass through the black curtains, they also saw Wade suffering of the same fate. Obviously Cena didn't want to give any of the opponents the slightest advantage, and as a guest referee, he seemed as mad as a hatter.

Drew and Zeke passed with caution the black curtains just as CM Punk and Wade Barrett were jumping at each other's throats in the middle of the ring. The Corre members had expected an ambush from the New Nexus guys – five on two would make be a classic from the likes of Otunga, and maybe the New Nexus would make sure that if they couldn't go in the Royal Rumble, The Corre wouldn't go either. But to their surprise, they saw the group gathered some thirty feet away from them, watching the screen where their fate was at play. Something was a bit odd in their behavior. Maybe it was the change in leadership that had led that new attitude, but Drew actually didn't mind.

At all.

Except that something was missing in the scenery in front of him. And it took him some long seconds to figure out.

"Where is Slater?"

Zeke looked at the black and yellow group, and saw that they were indeed just four. "Gabriel never showed up tonight. Do you think Slater has just deserted too?"

"Do you remember him leaving the arena?", Drew asked after looking through a slight opening between the black curtains, but from where he was, he could only see Punk, Wade and Cena in the ring, as well as the various techs ringside.

Zeke thought for a moment, then shrugged. "I remember he was there before the match, but honestly, I was mostly focused on Ryan and Otunga when the New Nexus departed".

"I don't like this", Drew continued, still watching between the curtains. "Slater looked awful when we saw him earlier. The kid was even praying!"

Zeke raised a quiet eyebrow towards the Brit. Himself was a Christian and it seemed natural to pray before a match. But he now remembered how Heath's body language showed despair, and also how CM Punk had reached him and brought him back to the locker room. Heath had walked with him like a somnambulist. Or like someone drugged.

"Maybe you are right, Drew. Something is wrong", Zeke concluded. "Maybe we should have talked to him when we had the occasion earlier, just like Wade had asked us to do. I think…". He paused, before eyeing towards the reduced New Nexus group.

"… I think he was calling for help".

Thank you Failed to De-anon , 628Flora and Shaniquacynthia for your reviews :) Still no Justin appearing in this chapter (with the exception of some mention), but since you probably noticed that the story was written in reverse mode chronologically speaking, expect to discover more about him soon. ;-)
