Son of the Demon.

Wonder City appeared to be abandoned, there was no one in sight and Whisper didn't like that, not when he knew who was meant to be there.

He turned around to see Conner carefully treading on certain stones and not others.

He sighed and frowned at his friend. "What are you doing?"

"Have you not seen.. well I know you haven't but in Indiana Jones there are always traps. If you stand on a certain stone, there is always a trap!"

"There are no traps- ah!"

Whisper was suddenly falling when a hand grabbed his arm and he stared down at the sharp and pointed spikes at the bottom of the hole he was falling into before he looked up at Target.

"See!" he cried "Traps!"

"Just…. pull me up," Whisper gritted out as Target began to pull and he helped too by placing his arm of the ground and pushing.

Whisper got to his feet and dusted himself down before he turned to see a very smug Target.

"What?" he snarled.

"Oh nothing," Target grinned. "I'm just happy it wasn't me for once. How's that mister super ninja!"

Whisper rolled his eyes before he continued towards the doors.

"Why are we here?"

"I have buisnes to attend to."

"Like what?"

Whisper sighed and looked at the floor. "Family business."

Target blinked. Family? He didn't even think Whisper had a family. Obviously he did but still… he couldn't really see Whisper sitting down for family dinner.

"Your family live down here?"

Whisper was about to answer when the doors opened and assassins came out all with blades pointed at them.

"Whisper. You have finally returned."

Whisper glanced at the one who had spoken before he removed the blades from their sheaves.

"Why do insist on destroying you father's empire?"

Whisper glared at her before he struck out, he heard shots behind him and he turned to see Conner firing at assassins.

He wouldn't last long.

Whisper flipped backwards to land next to Target, both of his swords were drawn and ready as they fought of the assassins.

"No offence, but your family like blades too much," Target shouted over the fire.

Whisper glared before he got kicked in the face and crashed into Target and the two fell to the floor, before they were grabbed by the assassins and hoisted up to face the master as he came down the steps.

Whisper grimaced at the sight of Ras Al Ghul as he descended from the steps to stop in front of them.

"Whisper."

Whisper lowered his head and looked at Target before he looked back at Ras. "Father."

Edward and Jester had arrived at the Iceberg in a quick time, sitting back now and relaxing Jester was drinking coke after coke.

"I'm sure that's not good for you."

"I'm pretty certain all those computers aren't good for ya either Eddie, but too late now right?" Jester chuckled as she drank her latest glass.

Edward smirked before he took a light drink of whisky, it was the only alcohol he would drink when he wasn't in a bad mood.

Suddenly Jester chocked on her drink and Edward laughed. "I told you not to drink so fast."

"That's not the problem," Jester chocked before she nodded towards the steps. "She is."

Edward turned and saw a girl standing at the steps, wearing all black with her black hair let down, but she had a bird like nose. Not as pronounced as Oswald's but it was there.

"Black Dove," Edward asked with a raised eyebrow, to which Jester nodded. "Why is she a problem?"

Jester sighed and quickly drank the rest of her drink. "She ain't very found of me is love dove. Believes herself to be higher then myself since I'm off the streets so… ya know… she's one of those pompous types."

"Ah."

"Yeah…" Jester shook her head. "She better not come over here with the mood I am in at the mo. Hate to think what would happen."

"As would I."

Both rogues froze before slowly turning to see Luna Fright standing there a smile on her face.

"Hello again. How's the head Edward?" she teased.

Edward frowned. "Just fine. How's your pride? Enigma told me about her little… encounter with you."

Jester smirked at the memory before it left at Luna's glare.

"Just fine," she spat. "I actually came here to socialise… well we did."

"We? Jonathan coming out of hiding already?"

She chuckled and shook her head. "Oh no. Not at all," she stepped to the side to show a boy with grey skin and eyes like hers as well as pointed teeth. "We as in myself and my brother."

"Brother?" Jester spluttered.

"Why yes. This is my little brother, Lucifer Fright aka Nightmare."

He grinned at them before nodding. "Jessica Turner… my oh my… the Jester… or would you like to be called Jessica Sionis?"

Jester faltered. "Jester is fine."

"Oh I know," he chuckled.

"Does he have any abilities?" Edward questioned, eyeing the boy before him.

"I'm a telepath. I like to play with people's minds and slowly drive them insane. It is rather enjoyable."

Edward grimaced in response before he downed his drink and turned to the bar man. "I will need another for this."

Jester had currently shut herself off from the world as she fiddled with her phone before she frowned and rolled her eyes. "Well of course you would," she grumbled before she put her phone away.

"What's the matter?" asked Luna.

"Nothing, just having issues with Enigma at the moment. Nothing to worry that spooky little head of yours about."

Nightmare chuckled at that before he pulled his hood down and walked over to Jester. "So… daughter of Black Mask? That's tough on you considering."

"Tell me about it," she grumbled before he ordered another coke. "But hey, it's a pretty good joke on me!"

Nightmare grinned. "I would love to play in your head."

"Buddy, I doubt you'd even top the PG rating."

"Oh really?"

Jester nodded. "Have you seen my boss J man's work? Gruesome! Once you've seen that, you've seen it all. Plus I have already lost my mind."

"I can vouch for that," Edward interjected.

Nightmare drew his attention to Edward and smirked. "So that's what the Sphinx looks like," Edward's hand stilled in mid air and he stared at the kids smirk. "I doubt that outfit is very practical…. green lace with purple-."

"Get out of my head!" Edward growled glaring at the boy who simply smirked at him and turned back to Jester.

"He's a grumpy one isn't he?"

Jester smirked. "You have no idea."

Mist stalked into Edward's hideout and flopped down on the couch socking wet before she sat up and began to pry her boots off.

Enigma had just come through the door and raised an eyebrow at her mother's bedraggled state as she pulled a boot off letting water pour out of it.

"Umm… what happened?" Enigma asked cautiously.

"Some goons chased me down to the sewers system. Apparently Killer Croc is not to found of visitors," Mist grumbled as she pulled a piece of flesh from her air and frowned.

Enigma shivered. "Eww. Really, that's gross."

"It's even worse to be there," Mist assured as she stood up and un-zipped her leather. "Just saying."

"I could image. Did you get to talk to Two Face?"

"Yes," Mist sighed. "He said he won't make a move until someone makes a move against him. So… I delayed it at least."

"I guess."

"Where is your father?"

"Dad's at the Iceberg at the moment."

Mist paused in taking off her wet things and turned to Enigma.

If looks could kill.

"What?" Mist snarled.

"Umm… Dad's at the Iceberg… like right now."

"So while I was getting covered in sewage water and god knows what else, your father was sitting at the Iceberg having a drink?!"

"Umm… I guess."

"That.. that…" Mist glared at the floor before she chucked her boot across the room. "When I get my hands on him, I'm going to rip him open!"

"Mum… maybe you should talk to Maxie Zeus, he always makes you feel better."

Mist glanced up at Enigma before sighing. "I'm not angry at you. It's your father I'm angry at."

"I'm glad about that."

Mist smirked before she shook her head and glared at nothing. "Your father better have a good explanation or else, things are going to get messy."

Whisper and Target stared up at Ras Al Ghul as he walked towards them, a frown set deeply on his face.

"So you have returned my son."

"Yes."

Target stared between the two. He could see the resemblance sort of. Whisper had the strong jaw like his father did and the same set of steely eyes that could bring you down.

Ras looked over at Target and the boy shrank back under the cold stare.

"And you are?"

"C- Conner Slater… Target."

Ras nodded before he turned to one of the assassins. "Kill him."

Target struggled against the two people holding him his eyes wide as the assassin came towards him, blade drawn and shining in the light.

"Wait!" Whisper cried as he stalked over to his father. "Do not kill him," he turned to look at Target before he turned back to his father. "Let me kill him, to prove my loyalty. But it has to be in a fight."

Target stared wide eyed and Ras raised an eyebrow curiously before he turned to look at Target and he smirked. "Very well."

The assassins let Target go and he looked up at Whisper who drew his blades and span them around before he charged at a petrified Target who quickly dodged and ducked the blades.

"Whisper!" he cried out as he dodged. "Why… why are we doing this, I thought we were friends!"

He was suddenly regretting ever coming here with Whisper, why didn't he just listen?

"Who would like you?" Whisper snarled as he swung his blade but Conner dodged it and flipped backwards, using his acrobatics to dodge the swinging blades.

Whisper frowned he needed Target to fight for this to work.

"Tell me Conner, who would like you? Your own mother abandoned you, she obviously didn't want you or like you."

Target went wide eyed before he lashed out, firing his guns at Whisper who dodged the bullets easily.

He knew that would set Target off.

"You don't know anything about her!" screamed Target as he fired out at him. "She loved me, she was forced to abandon me!"

"What an adoring mother she was."

"Shut up!" screamed Target as he launched himself at Whisper who dodged and punched him before he spin kicked him and Target landed on the floor glaring up at Whisper.

He couldn't believe he was about to do this, but it was the only way to save Conner's life.

Whisper jumped into the air blade raised as he came down and he saw the look of very real fear and realisation on Conner's face as he realised he wasn't going to be able to move his arm quick enough.

It was coming down he could see it about to reach his arm, wouldn't be able to move it… he wouldn't be able to-

The screams were so loud they echoed off the walls.
