We're made from broken parts.
Sometimes we make decisions that we regret immensely, Whisper knew this all to well.
He turned to watch the other assassins training but his mind was drifting to Target, was Conner okay? He prayed to god he was, if there was such thing as a god, but he prayed all the same.
He never wanted to do it, he never wanted to cut Conner's arm off… but this was the only thing he could do to save him.
"Are you well brother?"
Whisper turned and frowned at the older woman to him. "Talia. If you must know my mind is on other things."
"Your friend. He is well, they have fixed his arm."
"How do you-."
"Whisper," she turned to him and smiled. "I know you well enough to know you honoured that boy, even if you didn't act like it you did. You would not of killed him."
"You can not tell Father," Whisper cried. "If he knew he'd come to finish the job."
Talia nodded. "You do not have to worry, brother. I shall not speak a word to him."
"Thank you," Whisper muttered as he turned back and observed the area that the assassins were fighting in.
"My son and daughter," they both turned at the sound of their father's voice as he stepped forward. "We have business to attend to at Wonder Tower."
"Wonder Tower?" Whisper asked with a frown of confusion.
"Yes my son. We must leave now. Come."
Whisper frowned before he followed after his father.
"Take those bandages off your face. There is no need to hide now. Also… you need your armour."
Whisper frowned once again before he sighed and nodded. "Very well. I will be a moment, but I shall be ready."
Target sat staring out at the city, it was his home he'd grown up here and lived here all his life. He would never leave, but right now, he wished he was somewhere else right now.
Target sighed and looked over at the sound of footsteps. "Floyd. I didn't expect you to be here."
Floyd stopped and frowned at him. "Why wouldn't you? You're my protégé of course I would come here."
Conner smiled. "I'm glad you were worried about me." he sighed before he held his arm up with the metal robotics and shielding. "I… umm… I might need to do training again."
Deadshot shook his head. "No, Conner," he smirked at the boy's frown. "You don't need any training, you can come over it I know you can."
Conner smiled. "At least you believe in me. The others aren't sure…"
"You'll be fine," Floyd nodded and looked over at the metal arm again before he looked back at Target's wreaked jacket. "You're gonna need a new costume."
"I know," Conner sighed before he turned towards Floyd and glared. "And then I need to put a bullet between Whisper's eyes."
"Just…. be careful Target."
"I will be, Floyd, don't worry, don't worry at all."
Jester walked back to Edward's hideout with Enigma, she imagined Edward would already be home, that's what usually happened.
"Do you think he'll be okay?" asked Enigma.
"Target?" Jester grimaced. "Guys got a mind for revenge, I hope he don't get stuck on it."
Enigma nodded and they opened the door to the hideout before they came to a halt at the sound of things breaking and crashing.
Both girls looked at each other before they ran into the main room to see Edward hiding behind the sofa and with Mist standing in the room with a glass in her hand glaring at Edward.
"Enigma control your mother!"
"Enigma stay out of this!"
They both watched as Mist picked up a puzzle box. "Don't throw that!" yelled Edward as he stood up from behind the sofa.
Mist threw it as hard as she could and it smacked him square in the face.
"Ow! Mist, why are you doing this, what did I do?!"
"What did you do?! I had to go into the sewers and then I hear you're sitting pretty in the Iceberg freakin lounge!"
"It's not what you think!"
"What I think?" Mist laughed as she chased after him around the sofa. "Tell me Edward what exactly am I thinking?"
"I didn't see anyone!"
"That's not what I'm going on about!"
"Well… I didn't please, stop throwing stuff at me!"
Mist leapt over the sofa and tackled him to the floor grabbing his lepels and pulling him up to meet her angered face. "If you are seeing someone behind my back," Mist snarled but it wavered to being slightly Sphinx too.
"I am not seeing anyone! I haven't for years!"
Mist glared. "No one!"
Edward gulped. "Well… a man has needs Mist."
"I thought you were above such things."
"She was very attractive and… she well we had an interesting… night. But… yeah we.. well.."
"You have got to be…kidding me.. I… I can't believe you would do that when."
"Are we interrupting anything?" Jester questioned with a frown as she watched the scene in front of her.
Mist slowly got to her feet. "No, we're done here."
"No we're not!" Edward shouted as he got up and grabbed Mist's arm pulling her into a kiss.
Enigma squirmed. "Oh, eww!"
Jester smirked and clasped her hands together. "Ah… young love!"
"Don't encourage them."
Jester smirked before she turned. "Well… I gotta get going see ya E', you look after yourself and if I were you I would lock your bedroom door and not come out because…" she looked over at Mist and Edward as she began to push him towards the bedroom. "Well… it appears things are going to get a little heated around here."
Enigma turned to her. "Where are you going?"
"Oh me and Nightmare are gonna hang out."
"You and Nightmare? Luna's little brother?" Enigma frowned. "What in gods name are you going to be doing."
"Oh E'…" Jester chuckled. "You're way too young ta know."
Enigma frowned as Jester skipped out of the door.
Luna watched Nightmare fiddled with his hair, making it scruffy, then making it neat before making it scruffy again.
"What are you doing?" Luna asked with a confused expression.
Nightmare span around before grinning. "Me and Jester are hanging out."
"Oh?" Midfright frowned. "Please don't tell me you're seeing this as a date."
"Don't be absurd!" cried Nightmare. "Like I would lower myself to such a thing, I'm merely going to get to know the city, being new and everything, I thought why not ask the one who knows the city the best."
"If you want to talk to the person who knows the city best you better go and talk to Batman."
"Don't make me laugh. I'm talking with Jester," Lucifer grinned at his sister showing all his pointed teeth.
"Good luck… you're going to need it with her."
He… needed a new look… his metal arm it wasn't going to look good with any of his normal stuff.
Target stared out across the city and narrowed his eyes.
There was only one person who could help him out right now… but where would she be and was he really that desperate?
Conner sighed and pulled on his t-shirt before he climbed out of the window, taking longer then he expected with his metal arm but he managed to reach the top eventually.
Why had Freeze even make him a metal arm… what was the purpose, he doubted Freeze would do out of kindness, he was energetic not stupid well most of the time.
He looked for his phone but frowned, it wasn't on him… where did he last have it?
Target couldn't remember.
Great looks like he was going to have to find her the old fashioned way. Was he really that desperate?
Conner looked over the edge and grimaced. It was a long way.
Usually he would be okay with jumping it, but the added weight of his arm… was he really going to risk it?
"You thinking of jumping or what?"
Conner jumped and span around to see Gecko leaning against the wall, there was something in his hand too.
"What are you doing here?"
"Checking up on you ya dofus. What's it look like?"
"Um… that you're stalking me?"
"You've had ya arm chopped off, Conner," Gecko got of from the wall and walked over to the small boy before he handed him the thing he was holding. "Seems someone's looking out for ya. I found it outside my home addressed to ya."
Target looked down at it before he opened the large box and peered inside his eyes widening slightly in shock.
"What is it?" asked Gecko his arms crossed and tail swinging behind him.
"It's a… a outfit… ya know… work clothes."
"Oh. A costume."
Conner frowned. "I think I preferred work clothes."
"Well put it on," Gecko snarled as he took the box from him and pulled out the costume.
Target pulled off his t-shirt and took the suit off Gecko before he slipped it on. It was black but there was only one sleeve leaving his metal arm free and then he pulled on the targeting device over his eye.
"Say Target, check it out," Gecko muttered as he pulled out a leather waistcoat… red leather. Like his jacket.
Conner went wide eyed before he took it off Gecko and pulled it on, then he took out the black fingerless glove and slipped it on.
There were some new boots at the bottom designed so no one could hear you walking.
Once Conner slipped them on he got to his feet and stood in front of Gecko. "What do you think?"
"Ya forgot these," Gecko grunted as he tossed him a wrist gun, which Target slipped on before he fastened his belt with ammo on it, then he turned for his next gun.
"There ain't another."
"What?"
"Maybe there's one built into the arm?"
Target frowned before he looked down at the arm and frowned at it. "Yeah…. how?"
"I don't know. Do I look like I know anything about this stuff?"
Target frowned before he began to fiddle with the arm and then there was a trigger and two wrist guns popped out, they looked loaded as well.
"That's pretty awesome," Gecko growled. "Ya look like you could kill someone finally."
Target smirked. "Thanks Gecko. Now I just have to find the person I want to kill."
Little did either of them know, Whisper watched from a distance a smile on his face.
At least Conner was okay now… and he would agree with Gecko he did finally look like he could kill someone.
"Come on," cried Gecko as he began to lumber off. "Lets get back in side and put your aim up to the test."
"Yeah alright big guy," laughed Conner as he followed but he paused and turned to look in Whisper's direction, who stared back at him.
Then he was gone.
Conner blinked. Maybe he'd just imagined it. Yeah that had to be it.
"Yo Conner, ya coming?"
"Yeah, sorry."
