OK, time to start this thing with Green Arrow's arc. Enjoy.

Royal Dangers Part 1

(Gotham City, New Jersey. Grant's Gym February 29th, 14:05)

At Ted's gym, grunting is heard as Wildcat, in full uniform, was fighting against a man dressed in a gray trench coat and a black mask and holding a couple of knives. Ted jumped back as he was swinging the blade.

"Shink! Shink! Shink! Shink!" said the man, imitating the sound of the swinging blades. "Twirl." He then spun the blade and spun around, but Ted grabbed his arm and bent it.

"Snap." Ted said in a joking tone as he kicked him down as he says "OK freak, who are ya?"

"…" the man just looked at him calmly before getting a gun out as he whispered "Click…" as he aimed the gun at him.

"Oh no you don't." said Ted as he ran around the corner as the gun was fired.

"BANG! BANG! BANG!" The man in the black mask yelled as it hit the wall as he got up, looking around…before…he got hit with a metal chair, making him groan a bit as Wildcat panted a bit, looking at the now out cold assassin. He then got out a pair of handcuffs he got from Batman and put them on him, as he walked ahead.

"Dad?" asked a voice as Dinah walked in at this. "You OK?"

"Yeah…yeah…" said Ted as he sat down as he walked to his kitchen as he got out what looked like some powder and put it into a blender with some milk and other fruits and blended it together before putting it a glass and sipping it.

"Nutrient shakes? Dad…" Dinah said, giving her adopted father a raised eyebrow.

"Trust me kid, if it wasn't for the idea of over-exertion, I wouldn't even need this." Said Wildcat. "But I need it cause, even WITH my Nine lives, I'm still 75 so my docs said that I need to use this nutrient shakes to keep my body regular, even with all the exercise I go through."

Dinah looked at him with a worried expression, but nods as a chuckle is heard. "Ah Father-Daughter relationships, is nothing less beautiful?" asked a voice as they saw someone walk into the room.

"Who the hell are you?" asked Dinah, as she got a good look at the man. He had brown hair that reached the back of his neck, a slight goatee on his chin, dark blue eyes and waring a suit.

"The name's Carr, Agent Lucas Carr. You can call me Snapper. May you two come with me, hmm?" he asked with a friendly smile.

"…Why the sam hill should we go with you?" asked Wildcat as Snapper put his right hand up and snapped his fingers, as the three were suddenly gone in a flash of light.

(Washington DC, Hall of Justice. February 29th, 14:12)

The three were now in the Hall of Justice, with Batman, Spoiler and Robin already there. "…What the hell?" asked Ted, surprised as he asks "What's going on here?"

"You see, the nations of the world want to make sure you Leaguers are safe, so I'm gonna be helping Max with making sure you guys are OK." Snapper explained. "And don't worry, I'm on your side."

"OK…" said Robin, raising an eyebrow at this. "So, what is it, Maxwell?"

"You can just call me 'Max'." Maxwell said with a chuckle. "anyway, this mission is made more for you five. I think having Superman or Wonder Woman on this mission would be a tad bit of over-kill."

"And that is?" asked Batman as Maxwell got out a folder and threw over a folder full of papers, with pictures of a royal family.

"This is the Vertigo family from Vlativa. They're the royal family of their current monarchy. King Leopald Vertigo ruled the country, and he lives on with his two sons: Jasper and Werner Vertigo. Jasper is the older son and thus the current king, and has a daughter named Pertida."

"…Thanks for the history lesson, what does this have to do with the mission?" asked Spoiler, curious.

"Jasper's wife, Queen Alexia, was murdered the other night while he was away." Maxwell explained. "So we wish to keep the rest of the family safe while we look for who is after them. They are going to Star City to meet with some CADMUS agents. We wish for you to protect them until then."

"So you want us to go to Star city to protect a King, his brother and a princess?" Robin asked, shocked. "Wow…THAT is big."

"What about that one hero in Star City? That Robin hood wannabe?" asked Wildcat, curious.

"Green arrow. He is a good friend of mine and one of my rivals." Batman said calmly. "Hes a good man, if a bit reckless."

"So, we going to head out or what?" asked Wildcat as he downed the rest of his shake.

"Of course. You'll be at the Star City Airport and meeting them there." Snapper explained. "King Jasper wishes for us to protect his daughter, who is the only heir to the throne outside of his brother, Werner."

"Understood." Batman said with a nod. "I take it we're taking a Boomtube to Star City?"

"Yes." Said Maxwell with a nod. "Good luck, you five." The five heroes nod as they got up.

(Later…)

(Star City, California. Star City Airport, February 29th, 18:03)

The five heroes were watching the air port from afar, keeping to the shadows as they watched the people looking anxiously as a plane landed. "they're here, Bruce." Dinah said, watching from across the hall as she pressed an ear-piece.

One of the men was a middle-aged man with mid-length graying blonde hair and a nice suit, as he waved to the people, his dark green eyes noticeable. Next to him was a younger man, at least Early to mid 30s, with blue eyes and more whitish hair, a more aristocratic outfit with a black shirt under a dark green waistcoat, a dark blue ascot and also a pair of slacks and boots.

"Wow, that guy sure knows how to make himself noticeable." Robin joked from an arch he was sharing with Spoiler, as Batman was elsewhere. "Wait, I see someone else." He said as he saw a shy-looking little girl with them.

She appeared to be around 10 years old with short brown hair with her hair kept up with her pink headband, a dark gray shirt under a dark green uniform over it, a green skirt and black shoes.

"and there's the princess. Man, she sure don't look like those movie Princesses, that's for sure." Spoiler said with a chuckle "She looks more like a little school girl than anything else."

"Ted, do you see any shady figures on the ground?" Batman asked, watching from a shadowy area from above, as Ted was wearing more street-based clothes over his costume as he looked around.

"I see a few with weird-lookin' cameras…I'll keep them out of commission if they're any threat." Ted said, looking as a man put his camera up, as a clicking sound is heard. Ted, his cowl's hearing enhancements hearing this, frowns as he ran forward. "PEOPLE GET DOWN! HE'S GOTTA GUN!" as he pushed him down, as the camera backfired a bit, revealing it was actually a hidden pistol, causing people to scream as they began to scramble.

The older man put himself over his daughter as she screamed, as the younger man says "Jasper, Perdita, we must move." As the three quickly began to move as some security guards got up as a few men aimed a gun at Wildcat.

"Hey pally, who the hell do you think you are?" growled the man, as Wildcat smirked as he got up, taking off the hood.

"Your worst nightmare, punk!" He said as he punched the man square in the jaw, sending him down a bit.

A man aimed his gun at the royal family, as a poking on the shoulder is felt. "Hey handsome, want to hear a secret?" asked a femine voice behind him.

"Uh…what?" asked the man before he got an ear-full of a Canary cry, making him go down with a yell, covering his ears in pain as Dinah smirked at this, clapping her hands together as she ran off to help the royal family. Unknown to her, two figures were watching.

Perdita was following after her father and uncle before tripped, causing her to groan as a man says "Move and you're dead, princess." The little girl looked at the man, fear clear in her eyes.

"Step away from the girl." Said a voice behind the man, as he snorted at this.

"Who are you to tell me what to-" He then looked in horror as he saw Batman was right behind him, his eyes narrowed dangerously as he grabbed the man by the neck.

"Someone you do NOT want to threaten a child around." Said Batman as he knees the man in the stomach before sending a powerful punch into his face, as causing him to grunt as he growled before throwing a fist his way, but Batman blocked it and snapped the man's arm, making him scream out in pain as Batman slammed him down.

"Tha-thank you." Perdita said in shock as Batman nods as he saw Jasper and Werner waiting.

"Pertida, come on, we have to go before-Ugh!" Jasper's eyes were wide in shock as Robin and Spoiler looked shocked.

"PAPA!/JASPER!" Perdita screamed in horror while Werner looked in shock as Jasper fell forward, a pitch-black arrow on his back as Wildcat and Black Canary came in, looking in horror at this sight.

Robin and Spoiler came down at this, as they glared as they saw a group of thugs coming over. "Werner, take your niece to safety. WE got them." Batman said as he looked up and glared.

Wildcat, Black Canary, Batman, Spoiler and Robin glared at a group of thugs, who glared at the two as Wildcat says "So 30 of them versus the four of us...seems they outnumbered themselves."

"Agreed." said Batman as he got into a stance as Robin got out his bo staff, glaring at the group as two arrows hit the ground near them.

"What the?" Asked Black Canary as she saw the two arrows suddenly create a giant smoke screen as two arrows with lines of them hit a near-by wall as two hooded figures, one male in a green hood and the other female with a yellow one, came in before landing.

"So now it's six on 30...still outnumbered themselves." said the one in green smirked, a hint of a golden goatee noticeable as he got out two arrows and fired, which created bola lines beteween them and tied up two of them and knocking them down.

"Green Arrow..." frowned Batman as he ran ahead, kicking away a man before he could stab him and grabbed another and snapped his arm, mkaing him yell out in pain before he smacked him away.

"Heh, too easy now." said Wildcat as he dodged a man's knife before hittingh is arm and sending out two punches at his chest before giving him a left hook, knocking him down before one sap tried to run at him...as he just sends a punch behind him, making him yell out as he fell back. "Like I said, too easy."

"I'll say." said the girl with a smirk as she ran ahead, smirking as she slammed her bow into one of them before firing one of the arrows, which became a boxing glove on the end of it and fired it at a man, hitting him inbetween the legs.

"GAH!" Yelled out the man as he fell forward, giving Robin something to jump off of as he smacked another away from behind the girl.

"Hey Speedy, I take it you're doing good?" asked Tim as the girl just smirked as the two stood back to back, as Speedy used her arrows and Robin using his bo staff. Spoiler jumped oer them and threw down a few capsules, creating explosions at the men, causing some of them to go flying back from the small explosions.

Batman saw her and asks Green Arrow "Didn't you say you were done with partners? Being the 'Loner' hero and all." said Batman, smacking aside a man as he came over, while Arrow fired a sparking arrow, making a man yell out as he was hit by an electric shock.

"Says you, the guy who's always gung-ho about going alone and yet adopting every other Orphan kid and dressing them up like bulls eye ninjas?" asked Green Arrow as he smacked aside a man with the butt of his bow.

"Says the man who lets his new sidekick wear a yellow cape?" asked Batman, as Black Canary sent a roundhouse kick too a man and knocked him out.

"Her idea, not mine." said Arrow as he didn't notice someone behind him, getting out a gun.

"Watch out!" said Black Canary as she sent out a canary cry at the man, knocking him flying as Green Arrow nods.

"Thanks, beautiful." said Green Arrow as he fired an arrow too am an who was behind her. "There, now we're even." He then noticed Perdita and Werner, making him frown slightly at this sight. "Who are they?"

"The reason the thugs are here..." said Wildcat with a small frown, punching a man hard as the man groaned, falling back as he held his nose in pain, since that punch broke it.

"One of them killed that girl's father, the King of Vlativa." said Black Canary as she sent a left hook at a man before kicking another away.

"So an assassination, eh?" Asked Speedy as she ducked away from a man's bat before slamming her bow into the man's face, making him yell out as he got jabbed in the stomach.

The smoke was mostly gone at this point as the remaining thugs saw who had joined the Justice League there: Green Arrow, now fully seen, was a man around Batman's age with a short golden yellow goatee, a hood that hid the top of his head with a dark emerald mask that covered his eyes, a dark green shirt that was connected too the hood, a pair of black pants, dark brown boots with black archer gloves on his arms, and a dagger sheathed in his right boot.

Next too Robin, now fully revealed, was a girl around his age with red hair tied in a ponytail under her own yellow hood, a red and black shirt with a dark amber arrow pointing upward that exposed her mid-drift, a pair of black pants and red and black boots with a quiver on her back, and also a few smaller arrows connected too a miniature crossbow on her wrist.

The 10 men that was left looked in horror at the two with them before one of them says "It's the Arrows!"

"Ah crap, I'm not gonna be a bullseye for those freaks!" Another said as the group ran away quickly, leaving the airport.

Speedy just scoffed as she lowered her hood, revealing her face at this, which had a dark red mask over her eyes. "What a bunch of wimps."

"Alright Green Arrow, why are you here?" asked Batman, frowning at him at this.

"I heard Merlyn was in the area, so I came to check this place out. Speedy there followed me, and well...here we are." said Green arrow as looked at them calmly, keeping his face mostly hidden from view. "You?"

"We were asked too take care of the royal family and keep them safe." said Wildcat as Speedy looked at the now dead king as she looked confused.

"...I don't think you're doing that good a job." said Speedy, as she got elbowed by Robin, making her say "Ow..." as she rubbed her arm.

"Listen, if Merlyn IS here, then these two aren't safe here. Come on, you can come to our place." said Green Arrow as he walked over too the small girl and got down to her level.

"Back off, ruffian." warned the man with her, glaring at Arrow as the blonde haired man just ignored him.

"Hey there, sweetheart. What's your name?" asked green Arrow, trying to sound soothing.

"...Princess Perdita Vertigo..." said the girl, nervously. Green Arrow nods as he took out the black arrow from her father, Speedy covering her eyes as he did so, looking at it with narrowed eyes as he kept it out of sight as Speedy uncovered her eyes.

"Well Miss Perdita, I know these leaguers here are here too take care of some royal group, and while I'm not the biggest fan of royals-no offense-I'm not gonna stand around while an 10 year old gets fired at. So how about you and your butler here come with us." said Green arrow, getting up at this as the girl giggled at how he called the man a 'butler'.

"I'll have you know, sir, that I am Count Werner Vertigo. I am her uncle and the brother of our now dead king." said the man, glaring at Green Arrow as said archer raised an eyebrow at him.

"...and we should care why, Dracula?" asked Speedy in a joking tone, as the man glared at her while the little girl just giggled more at their teasing.

"Do not encourage them, Perdita." warned Werner, as the girl suddenly got more poised.

"Yes, Uncle Werner." said the young Princess as Batman frowned at the tone he used, but stayed quiet.

"Come on, lets head to the Quiver." said Speedy, walking ahead as Pertida looked confused at this.

"...The Quiver?" asked Perdita as the two followed as paramedics arrived and began to prep the king's body.

"It's a lot better than it's old name. What was it again?" Asked Robin, as the other Leaguers followed.

"I think he called it...the Arrowcave back in the day." Said Batman calmly as Black Canary chuckled.

"Trying a bit too hard to copy Batman, eh?" asked Wildcat, as Green Arrow only gained a flat look.

"Shut it." said Arrow flatly, not noticing a man watching from a far, a frown forming on his face.

"Seems we have been...compromised..." said the man, as he walked into the light, revealing himself too be a man clad in a all-black outfit consistent of a coat with a large hood covering his face, a black facemask covering his mouth, black pants, black boots and a black quiver on his back.

"Merlyn, sir...we're sorry we couldn't get the girl too..." said one of his goons, as he only glared.

"You know what happens too those who fail me, yes?" asked Merlyn as he got an arrow out, which had a dark glow around it.

"No, please sir...don't!" yelled the goon as a arrowhead suddenly popped out of the red object.

"Sorry...but all loose ends must be gotten rid of..." Said Merlyn as he fired the arrow into the man's chest, making him yell out in pain but it didn't go too far in...When suddenly the arrow began to beep before...

KA-BOOM!

The body fell backwards at this, a hole in his chest as the rest of the still conscious goons looked in horror at this as Merlyn glared at them. "I hope that inspires you too do better." The men nod at this as Merlyn looked too the distance, frowning a bit. "I never miss my targets...ever...you'll regret getting involved, Green Arrow...you and the little bitch you have allied yourself with..."

(The Quiver. February 29th, 19:04)

"OK, you can take off the blindfolds." Green Arrow said calmly to Perdita and Werner, who took off the green rags that were over their eyes.

"Why did we need these on again?" asked Perdita, curious.

"IT's so our HQ isn't compromised." Speedy said with a laugh as she says "Now why don't you two go off and rest while the Grown ups talk, OK?"

"I will not be ordered around by a mere child." Werner said, glaring darkly at the teenager.

"Alright, then I'll say it: go get some sleep, your royal highness." Said Green Arrow, as the two glared at each other before he walked off.

"…You sure…I can't stay here for a bit?" Perdita asked the heroes, as Batman looked at her and put a hand on her shoulder.

"Just get ready for bed, OK?" Batman asked in a surprisingly soft tone, as she nods and goes off.

"The Bathroom is the next room on the left." Speedy told the girl as someone came in.

"'Thought I heard something." Said a voice as a tall, African-American man with short black hair, dark brown eyes and a black suit over a white button up shirt came in. "'Sup? Name's…"

"John Diggle. Personal friend and body guard of Oliver Queen." Batman said calmly, making Dinah look up in shock as Wildcat frowned at this. "Right?" He asked, as he looked at Green Arrow, who chuckled.

"Always the detective, eh Bruce?" asked the man as Dinah looked at him, surprised.

"Wait…Ollie?" asked Dinah, as Green Arrow only nods and removes the hood, revealing his face fully: Short blonde hair, dark blue eyes hidden under a green domino mask, and a slightly pointed goatee on his chin.

"Hey Dinah." Said Oliver, as the two looked at each other softly before…

POW!

Speedy cringed as she removed her own hood, as Oliver got back up from Dinah's punch, rubbing his now sore jaw. "…I don't know why, but I think I deserved that."

"Ya sure did." Wildcat said with a nod.

"…Did we miss something here?" asked Spoiler, now clearly confused.

"Dinah and Oliver were a couple a few years ago before his disappearance over 15 years ago. I guess they never met up after all of that."

"I was kind of busy." Oliver said, getting up as he adjusted his jaw from the punch.

"Oh yeah, with what?" Asked Dinah, giving him a look. "Ollie, what happened back then? How long have you been back in the mainland?"

"…10 years." Sighed Ollie with a sigh. "I wanted to talk to you, but I thought you'd think it was some kind of cruel joke…but I guess you want to be alone right now?" He then went off at this. "I'm gonna go rest. You guys should as well." He walked up to Diggle and says "Digs, get this verified. I think it's one of Merlyn's." He then hands the arrow he got from Jasper's corpse

"got it, Queen." Said Digs with a nod as he walked off with the arrow as Batman went to a computer.

"I'm going to see if we were followed. We'll all take turns to keep watch, alright?" Batman said to the other Leaguers as they nod, while Dinah watched Oliver leave the room.

"You know, I know it may be hard to believe, but he never shuts up about you. Just letting ya know." Speedy said to Dinah with a wink.

"…and you are?" asked Dinah, curious.

"Mia Dearden. I'm the current Speedy. The other one and Ollie…KIND OF had an argument a few years back, so he left. I kind of took over for him about the same time Timmy there became Robin."

Tim gave a glare at this as he rolled his eyes as the heroes went to rest, sighing a bit as they rested against most of the rooms at this time.

(Oliver's Room. February 29th, 19:32)

Oliver sighed as he removed his hooded jacket, revealing his scarred body as he looked at a few photos: one of him as a child with a blonde couple, another with him as a collage student with a younger Dinah, who had black hair in the picture instead of blonde, and finally one of him with Diggle and a red-haired young man with a yellow cap on his head and a similar red uniform that Mia is wearing.

Oliver sighed at this as he sat down in a chair, rubbing his head at this as he looked at a scrap book on his table, picking it up before reading it over, before sighing a bit as he got on his jacket back on and headed out, to look at the others. He came across most of them resting, as he smiled at this sight as he saw Wildcat was looking over the video feeds as he watched him go before seeing him go to where Perdita was sleeping.

Green Arrow had his hood down, but his domino mask still on, as he looked to where Perdita slept, wearing her hair down and her white shirt on, her vest and headband on a chair as she rested. Oliver walked over and tucked her in a bit, as she smiled at that somewhat, as Oliver smiled before heading out. She looked at him with a corner of her eye, a smile forming as she watched him go before she continued to sleep.

Little did they know, however, a figure was waiting in the shadows, a frown on his face as he went into the darkness.
