Trouble in the Deep Part 2

(Unknown area in the Atlantic Ocean. March 13th, 15:27)

Arthur groaned as he was waking up, and saw he was in a on a rock face of some kind and saw that he, Tempest and Garth were in a suspended via chains with weights on the feet, which made them heavier.

"Ugh…well, this is bad…" Tempest said, looking down with a frown as he saw the rocks were about to give way.

"I better get some help…" Aquaman said as he concentrated as he frowns. "Lets hope someone catches that…"

"Better hope it's a big something, because this cliff will fall." Kaldur said, not liking this, not knowing a large shadow was coming over as the cliff began to break.

"…o lutum." Garth said flatly as the cliff broke, causing the three to be dragged down via the weights…until two large tentacles grabbed them.

"What the?" asked Kaldur, surprised as he turned and yelled out in shock as he saw the giant beast before them.

"Topo!?" Garth asked in shock at the size of the creature. Before them was a giant, dark blue and light purple octopus-like beast with dark blue eyes and a large, metallic guard around it's large head with a familiar 'A' on it's head.

"Hey boy, thanks for your help." Aquaman said as the large octopus ripped the chains off of their legs, it giving a small whine as it looked at Aquaman's arm. "Do not worry, it's only a flesh wound at worst. Listen, get us to where Storm and Imp are."

The large creature nods as it swam ahead, leading them ahead as Aquaman and Tempest followed, as Kaldur whispers to himself, "the king has a giant octopus for a pet…of course he does." He swam after them at this.

(King Orin's Castle. 15:43)

Mera was swimming around the castle, looking concerned. "Arthur? Are you here? Arthur?" she looked around as she frowns as she lands on the ground and stomps a bit. "Arthur Orin Curry, where are you!?"

"Queen Mera!" A voice yelled as Mera turned to see La'gaan. "The king has been captured!"

"What!? What are you talking about!?" asked Mera, angry at this as La'gaan panted. "What do you mean?"

"I saw this man, Ocean Master, attacked him with Nanaue and Black Manta." La'gaan explained as a hiss is heard as he turned and went wide eyed when he saw some Trench come in. "We gotta get you out of here."

"No. Get my son to safety. Make sure Tula goes with you. I can take care of these creatures." Mera said, her tone showing no argument was needed. La'gaan was about to argue, but sighed as he does a bow.

"Yes my Queen." He said as he swam off, with Mera glaring darkly towards the Trench. "So…you creatures think you can come…to my home?" Her eyes glowed bright blue as she says, "I think not…"

The Trench turns to her and hissed as they all swam at her, but she just smirked. "Aquae recessus." The fish beasts stopped when they suddenly screeched out in pain as water was literally ripped from their bodies, shriveling them into husks as they just floated in the water.

Mera heard something and frowns as she uses the water she took and sent it forward, sending the water whips forward and slashed several trench at once, glaring darkly as she saw Nanaue swim into the area, making a water whip go around her neck as the young man looked at her nervously.

"Uh…hello, my queen." Nanaue said nervously as Mera's narrowed eyes just showed she was angry. Nanaue saw this and snickered. "Please, you think you can hurt me. Gurgite venti!"

Suddenly the force of a whirlpool came in, as Mera frowns. "Cursum reflectunt!" The flow suddenly changed at this, making Nanaue's eyes go wide as he was whipped away by the force of a whirlpool, yelling out as he was dragged away, taking many of the Trench with him.

"I'll be back, you no good harpy!" the shark man yelled as Mera just rolled her eyes.

"Teenagers, am I right?" asked a calm tone as Mera turned to see Ocean Master, as her eyes narrowed.

"Where is my husband, you no good trespasser?!" Mera asked in anger as she sent a blast of water to knock his helmet off, leaving her eyes to widen in shock. "You-" But yelled out as she was hit in the back from a blast from his trident, sending her into a wall.

"Sorry, can't have you know too soon, my queen." Ocean Master said with a dark chuckle.

(With Aquaman and friends. 16:23)

Aquaman, Tempest and Kaldur followed Topo to a large seaweed field with strange-looking animals. "What are those?" Kaldur asked, curious. The creatures in front of them had a serpent-like fish tail on it's lower body, similar to a regular seahorse, and a seahorse-like head with long finned legs with clawed front legs and spines on their backs to replicate a horse's mane.

"Hippocampi, a species of Greek mystical Seahorses. They are about the size and weight of a true horse." Tempest explained as he got a small conch and whistled a bit. A violet colored one and a white one turned and swam over and rubbed against Aquaman and Tempest.

"Hello Storm, it's been awhile old friend." Aquaman said, petting the white horse as Kaldur swam around and saw several other wild ones as Aquaman saw him watching them. "what is it?"

"Just curious…where are we?" Kaldur asked, confused.

"This is a sanctuary of the Hippocampi, where we have specifically chosen people to chose one as their partner. Mostly those affiliated with the royal family." Arthur explained as Kaldur noticed one looking at him carefully.

Kaldur swam over and saw that, to his surprise, it was a silver colored one with dark eyes with a black spine scale as he swam over, the horse-like creature coming over and rubbing his arm, as Arthur chuckles a bit. "What does this mean?" Kaldur asked, curious.

"It means that he's your partner. What do you wish to name him or her?" Aquaman concentrated as he says, "OK, it is female."

"Hmm…how about…Nocte?" Kaldur asked as the horse nods at this. He chuckled at this as he concentrated as a saddle made of water formed on her as he climbed on. Arthur chuckled at this as he got on Storm as Garth got on Imp.

"Lets ride, my friends." Aquaman said as he nods to the others and, with his good hand, pats his old friend on the side as the three Hippocampi went towards the city, Topo swimming after them.

When they came to the city, they saw that the Atlantean soldiers were fighting against the Trench as Topo swam down at them as Aquaman nods to Storm, who rode ahead as he headed right for the castle, Topo using his tentacles to smack aside and smash Trench monsters left and right.

Garth looked with Kaldur on their steeds as they saw, to their shock, Black Manta was swimming around with Arthur's trident in hand. Kaldur frowns at this as he notices a pair of broken hilts on the ground and picked them up, concentrating as water came around them.

Kaldur ran at Black Manta with a yell, smacking him in the back of the head with hard-water maces. Manta grunted at this, twirling the trident and slashed at him, but Kaldur blocked it with his mace.

"You are well trained, child." Manta said calmly as he slashed at him with the trident, but Kaldur's mace suddenly went around his hands.

"And you are predictable, old man." Kaldur said as he looks at him calmly. "While you are skilled, I am skilled to be one step ahead…so watch this." His eyes glowed bright blue as an electrical current went through Black Manta, making him yell out as Kaldur kicked him awy, using his enhanced strength to send him flying.

Garth watched this as Kaldur just glared at Manta, who groaned from the shocks as Manta glared upward. "Why are you doing this, Manta? By Hades, I know you hate Aquaman, but why attack his family?"

"Simple…he attacked mine. My son and his mother were killed by the Atlanteans." Manta said, glaring darkly as his visor glowed dark red.

"What are you talking about?" Garth asked, now confused. "That never happened. Who are you talking about?"

"The one known as 'Siren', also known as Hila…the sister of your queen." Manta said with a glare, as Kaldur looked curious at this. "

"…Wait, Hila was killed!?" Garth asked in shock. "I thought she just vanished, at least from what I heard."

"Nine years ago…I found out that an Atlantean killed her and several other Xebelian warriors during the period where the two sides were about to go into a war." Manta said, as Kaldur's eyes widen at this.

"But Arthur would never do that to Mera's sister." Garth said with an angered look, as Manta just scoffs as he points the trident at them.

"Might as well get rid of you like I should have done before…after all, it was only fair…he left me without a child, so I planned to do the same." Manta said as the trident glowed red. "Just think of it as…retribution."

"I think not." Kaldur said with narrowed eyes as he put his hands up, his tattoos glowed brightly at this. "Joannes nectit!" Suddenly the water in the area began to glow bright lbue before solid water in the form of moray eels formed, grabbing him and putting him into a wall, as Kaldur took the trident as his tattoos glowed.

"Let go, you foolish boy!" Manta said as the trident glowed as yellow lightning came out at the same time as Kaldur's blue lightning, making the two both yell out in pain as Kaldur grabbed it, trying to pry it out of his hands.

"I…will…not…allow you…to use the King's weapon!" Kaldur said as he gave a yell as he grabbed the helmet of Black Manta as Manta's visor glowed red as red and blue colloided, making an explosion come out from the pulse of energy.

"KALDUR!" Garth said in shock as Kaldur was thrown back, groaning a bit as he his tattoos were glowing, which seemed to have absorbed the energy as he held the trident, Manta just floating as he was tied to the wall with the moray eel binds.

"Take this…to the king…" Kaldur panted as Garth nods, taking the trident with him as he went towards the castle with the trident in hand, Kaldur only looking at Manta, a frown on his face. "I apologize…father." He said, as Manta was unconscious when he said this, Manta looking up faintly at this as he heard that last part.

"…So my son is alive…hmm…" Manta clenched his fists as he looked up calmly at this. "That could only mean one thing…someone else killed Hila…and her soldiers. But who?" Manta looked at the morays as he, after some movement, pressed a button on his belt and sent a shockwave that disbanded the water. "That Ocean Master owes me some answers…"

(King Orin's Castle. 18:03)

Arthur got off of Storm as he ran into the castle with Garth quickly swimming after him. "Arthur, catch!" Garth said as he threw the trident, Arthur catching it with ease with his left hand.

"Thanks." He said as he swam inside as Garth turned to see more Trench beasts coming down at him.

"I'll hold them off!" Garth said as marks glowed on his skin. "Tempestatem virtus, eu!" His body glowed brightly as an outward burst of lightning and water came off of him, sending the Trench away with large bursts of water as Topo slammed a few away.

"HIYA!" Tula came down and kicked a few away, smacking more aside with a staff made of hard water, as La'gaan roared and slammed a few of them aside with a roar, cringing as one bit him but he just rips it off of his arm.

Kaldur came down and smacked more aside as Arthur went towards the throne room. "Mera! Vulkos! Orm! Where is everyone?!"

"Hello…Arthur." Said a voice as Ocean Master walked up at this, his own trident in his hands. "I see you're alive, how unfortunate.

"Ocean Master. Where is my family?" Arthur asked in anger, his eyes narrowing darkly at this as Ocean Master just sighed.

"Always so violent, aren't you?" Ocean Master asked casually as Arthur's eyes narrowed more at this.

"If you have harmed any of them, you will be the feed for the Great Whites." Arthur warned, pointing the trident at him as Ocean Master chuckled.

"Please…you cannot fight with a trident with only one hand. That's impossible." Ocean Master said as Aquaman just gave a faint smirk.

"Plenty of things are said to be impossible…but have been proven otherwise." Aquaman said, showing surprising skill with his remaining hand by twirling the spear-like weapon. "And also…my right isn't dominant..."

"What?" Ocean Master asked in shock, as Aquaman smirked.

"I am ambidextrous, meaning I can use both hands with great skill. But when I was a child…my left hand was my dominant hand." Arthur said as Ocean Master scowled darkly at this.

"You're just full of surprises, aren't you half-breed?" Ocean Master asked as his trident glowed faint red as he fired a violet pulse of energy at him, but Arthur quickly fired a blue blast to counter it.

The two blasts hit each other before sending a shockwave out as Aquaman glared as he jumped at Ocean Master, shoving him through a wall as the two landed in the throne room and looked in wide eyed as Mera and other Atleanteans were entrapped by various Trench, all of them trapped in what looked like cocoons attached to the outer walls of the throne room, which was trashed by the claw marks.

"Mera!" Aquaman said in shock as he glared at the trench beasts, who growled as they swam right at him before Aquaman blasted a few of them before stabbing into one of them and slammed it into the ground and grabs one by the neck and snapped it with his hand.

Ocean Master groaned as he got up and glares at Aquaman, as the blonde haired man glared at him. "Why are you allowing them to do this!?" Aquaman demanded, glaring darkly at the man.

"They are the fools that are loyal to you. I have warriors that are loyal to me…and soon, my plan shall come into fruition…but first, you must be removed." Ocean Master said as Garth, Tula, La'gaan and Kaldur swam in at this.

"My king!" Kaldur said as Arthur turned, but yells out as a giant burst of water hits him, sending him into a wall.

"Get away from him!" Garth said as the four swam at Ocean Master, but they were sent back as a red beam of light nearly hits Ocean Master.

"Ocean Master…" Black Manta said as he came in, his visor glowing dark red. "I really do not like being lied to…nor do I appreciate trickery…"

"What do you mean?" Asked Ocean Master, getting up at this.

"You seem to know quite a bit about this place…about the security, the way he fights, the way the students would act, which one would be loyal to you…and since you know so much…what happened at Xebel?" Manta asked, glaring at him.

"And how would I know about that?" Asked Ocean Master, which resulted in him getting grabbed by the neck.

"Apparently my son is alive…and I was told by an anonymous source that scouts from Xebel led by Hila, Mera's twin sister, was wiped out by the Atlanteans. Now…only someone who knows how this city works can know about it…so talk." Manta said with a glare as Aquaman got up.

"I never ordered an attack on any Xebelian warriors…though it would explain why the people of Xebel have been more hostile. But with any military background, it would have to have been forces under the royal family's control, but I never sent Cal to Xebel." Arthur said, a frown forming.

"So it'd have to be someone else's forces…but who would order that?" Garth asked as Ocean Master kicked Black Manta away as the man clad in black was hit by a blast of purple energy, making him yell out as he hit a wall, groaning as he passed out from the force of the blow to both the front and back.

Arthur growled at this as he fired a blast, making Ocean Master yell out as he was hit, causing his helmet to fall off of his head. "Talk, Ocean Master…what do you know?" Arthur asked, glaring darkly at this as a chuckle is heard as Ocean Master slowly got up, making Arthur's eyes widen in shock, as did the others.

"Wait, Ocean Master is…" La'gaan asked in shock as Tula gasped in horror.

"It can't be…" Kaldur whispered in shock as Garth's eyes narrowed.

"You no good little sea snake…" Garth growled as Ocean Master looked at them.

"Guess the catfish is out of the bag, as they would say…though I guess it was for the best, isn't it…dear brother?" Ocean Master asked as the face before them was…

"Orm…why?" asked Arthur in shock as Orm snapped his fingers as a black haired older man came in with men clad in armor similar to Ocean Master's own.

"Brak…" Garth said with a glare as the men pointed their spears at them.

"Hello, child." Brak said with a smirk as Kaldur, Tula, La'gaan and Garth all glared at the traitors, as Orm gave Arthur a faint smirk.

"And the answer to your question is simple, brother…I am taking the throne that is rightfully mine. And I'd do anything to get there…even if it meant misdirection." Orm said with a smirk, taking his trident as Arthur looked in horror…at the fact that his own brother was secretly creating a coup behind his back.

Well, I guess some people expected the twists if they read the original Aquaman comics, but I hope I did a good job on this. Be ready for the final battle between brothers and their forces and see if Aquaman stays as king of the sea or if it's the reign of the Ocean Master. Please Read, Review and Suggest away!
