Sweet Dreams Part 2

(Washington DC. Hall of Justice Medical Wing. April 4th, 01:02)

at the Hall of Justice, the disabled Leaguers were groaning in their sleep, as Dubbilex looked them over. Lois and Iris were looking at the glass, both equally concerned as Carol stood by Amanda.

"So who is this 'John Dee' character? I want to show him why it's a terrible idea to mess with the Star Sapphires, especially those they love." Carol said, her eyes glowing dark violet as her ring glowed in her fist.

"Easy Carol, you know Hal wouldn't approve." Iris said as Amanda just frowned, looking at this scene and sighed. Lois just looked into the room to see who got infected: her husband, Barry, Kara, Hal, Diana, Billy, Arthur and Jason Blood.

"As much as I rather not sound heartless, Mrs. Allen, I think this is far beyond their comprehension." Amanda said with a frown as Batman walked up, still in uniform.

"And what do you mean by that, Waller?" Batman asked in a cold tone as Amanda looked at the much taller man compared to her.

"Simple; we let Cheshire look for this man and take him out." Amanda said as Batman scowled.

"And then what?" asked Batman with a scowl. "I called Warden Sharpe: John Dee went into a panic attack and he's lord knows where now…he disappeared once he left Arkham."

"Great…so there's a guy's who's essentially sleepwalking all over the country and doing god knows how much damaging to a sleeping populous." Amanda groaned as Dubbilex looked at this. "And with Samurai across the seas in Japan and Zatanna in Las Vegas doing one of her shows, we're in trouble."

"I believe he is targeting the Justice League first…I am sure we can track him from his psychic signature." Dubbilex explained as he adds, "But to do this mission right, I will have to aid Manhunter and this 'Dream' character. And Maxwell has no knowledge on tracking psychic signatures."

"Luckily, we got someone who can." Amanda said calmly. "Dubbilex, begin the operation and get them back on their feet." Dubbilex nods as he went off.

"Who is this person?" Batman asked as he followed Amanda as she smirked faintly.

"It's someone you know, and this someone is more than happy to help you and your 'nightshift' team. Especially your archer." Amanda said as Batman raised an eyebrow as Dubbilex walked into the medical bay, nodding to Manhunter and Dream.

"We may begin…" Dream said as his eyes turned bright purple, while Dubbilex's eyes shined yellow and J'onn's eyes shined red, entering the mind of Superman first as Dream let them go into his dream.

(inside Superman's head…)

The three arrived in what looked like Metropolis, but in ruin. The city was in shambles and everything around them was filled with dead people, making J'onn frown. "So…this is what Superman fears…the destruction of Metropolis…"

"This man has been here already…or is still here to feed this nightmare." Dream said, looking around as he heard screaming, making the group move quickly as they saw…something. They saw Superman screaming out in pain, his body covered with cracks as his eyes were bright red, blasting everything in sight.

"GAAAH!" Superman screamed out as his eyes fired more energy, as Dubbilex looked shocked.

"His fear…is to lose control. His powers are great, but he holds back to keep control. We must calm him down." Dubbilex said calmly as the others nod as J'onn flew forward but paused when a voice began to be heard.

"You cannot save everyone, Mr. Kent. You will fail sometime…and when you do, it will be all your fault." The voice said in a monotone that haunted the air. "

"Clark, calm down!" J'onn said, getting Superman's attention. He backed away fearfully as J'onn put his hands up. "It is alright, you are safe. None of this is real; it is only a nightmare. And it'll stay this way unless we stop the madman who is doing this."

"But…I do not know if I can control all of this…I don't even know the full abilities OF my powers…and what if I don't have any control of any new powers." Superman said as J'onn flew over and put a hand on his shoulder and a palm on his forehead.

"You adapt. Do not forget, when you first got your powers, you had to learn to adapt to them as they came. You can adapt to this. Remember, you have the League behind you an not to mention Lois still needs you. In fact…Kara is in deep trouble too, as is Billy." J'onn told him, as Superman looked at him with shock.

"What?" asked Superman as Dream came forward, making Superman look at him oddly.

"A man is using my Dreamstone to create havok with your teammates that were asleep…we were gonna head to Supergirl's next…but we'll need your help. Do you think you can calm down enough to save her and the others? After all…you are one of the greatest heroes on Earth." Dream said as he concentrated, creating a ripple effect on the surroundings as the city started to fix itself.

"What are you doing?" asked Superman as Dream's eyes shined brightly as he continued.

"Repairing this dream…I'll do it to the others when we get to them. This dream got tainted by the mind of a madman…who wished to cause the destruction to others." Dream explained as the energy went over Superman, fixing him up as his eyes returned to normal.

"Thanks…so lets go." Superman said as Dream nods, opening an odd-looking vortex as he pressed his hand on his head.

"I shall protect your mind from anymore intrusions…now let us be off." Dream said as he led the way for the three men through the portal. A creature watched them go with a slight snarl, not liking this at all.

(Outside the dreamscape…back with the League in CADMUS HQ)

"So who's this guide then?" Green Arrow asked as the group was heading into a main lobby area as Amanda smirked.

"She's right there." Amanda said as she points to a chair where Perdita sat, humming a bit. She was currently wearing a simple pink t-shirt under a blue jacket and a pair of jeans, adjusting her glasses that were part of her cover.

"The Princess…? SHE'S the one who's gonna track down a nutcase with a dangerous talisman?" Robin asked in shock as Wildcat gave Amanda a look, clearly not liking this idea.

"Why would you intentionally endanger Perdita?" Batman asked with a glare as Amanda gave him a frown.

"Don't get high and mighty with me, Dark Knight. Do not forget, YOU put the first Robin in that garish outfit when he was only 10 years old. Or do you need to remember that?" Amanda asked with a scowl.

Arrow scowled back as he looked at Perdita as she closed her book and ran over. "Hello everyone." Said Perdita with a smile as she adjusted her glasses a bit.

"Are you sure you want to do this, small one?" Katana asked as Perdita gave a slight frown and crossed her arms.

"I am nothing like those princesses in fairy tales, ma'am. I can handle these sort of things." Perdita said, crossing her arms. "Besides, they are right; I do have powers. They began sometime after the fiasco involving Merlyn."

"They did?" asked Green Arrow as Perdita nods at this.

"You see, a few months ago, about 3 days after I started to get situated with my foster family. I started having these…odd headaches. I could feel like there were hundreds of people around me, making me a little…claustrophobic. But then I realized my uncle went through something similar so I asked my adopted father, Steve Trevor, to get me a cat scan."

"…Wait, Wonder Woman's ex is your foster dad?!" asked Robin in shock as Perdita nods.

"Yes. He and his wife, Etta, took me in when I moved to America until I am ready to assume my throne." Perdita explained as Green Arrow gave Amanda a suspicious look.

"How convenient…" Arrow said flatly as he asks, "What happened then?"

"Well, a man from this Meta-human training program started coming by and helping me gain control my powers. That way I could go back home one day and not worry about getting bombarded by stray mental energy."

"And how are you going to track him?" Asked Batman as Amanda walked up with a mask in her hands.

"This is ol' Morpheus's mask. He said that this has the same psychic link he has to it. Perdita is trained to track people via objects related to something of their's." Amanda said as Green Arrow took the mask.

"Are you sure about this?" asked Katana as she looked at Alchimia, who was looking through a list.

"Hmm…we're gonna need something to fly in…luckily I got just the thing. Come on, Cy. Lets show them the new jet." Said Alchmia with a smirk as he looks at Snapper. "Snapper, think you can port us back to the Hall?"

"Uh…sure." Said Snapper as he walked over to the group and snapped his fingers, making the League members and Perdita vanish from sight.

(Inside Kara's Mindscape…)

The four heroes arrived in a different location, this time in what looks like a large city on Krypton as several robots were on the rampage. Sueprman smacked one aside, glaring as he asks, "What is this place?"

"I believe it is Krypton…many years ago…" Manhunter said as he saw they were in a long hallway, where a man was fiddling away with a device with someone screaming.

"LET ME OUT! PLEASE!" Kara said, banging on the metal as the man just pressed some buttons.

"You left Krypton to burn, Kara…this time you're gonna stay here with your family…instead of running away like a coward." The man said with a sinister chuckle, making Superman fly forward.

"Leave her alone!" Superman said as he punched the man, who's head suddenly spun in a 360 before glaring at him with piercing red eyes, making him jump back a bit. The figure in question wore a tattered robe that looked like a Kryptonian garb with a skull-esque head with rotted gray skin and a small headband with a demonic-looking house of 'El' insignia on his chest but with a bright red crystal on the middle.

"So the Man of Steel leaves Metropolis in ruin, hmm? How selfish…" The man hissed as Dream glared at this.

"So you are the one who took my Dreamstone?" Dream asked in a calm tone as the man gave an od. "You are John Dee?" Suddenly John's outfit changed into a more robe-esque attire, similar to the Grim Reaper, with gray fog-like designs on the front of his cloak with tattered sleeves and a tattered black cape.

"I prefer the name…'Dr. Destiny' now, if that is alright." Dr. Destiny said with a dark chuckle as Dubbliex glared at this. "But as of now…I am needed elsewhere. Enjoy Krypton's destruction anew." He chuckled darkly as he vanished as Manhunter tried to grab him, making him grunt.

"Kara! Don't worry, we're gonna get you out of there." Superman said as he tried to lift it out.

"Kal, please! Get me out of here! I-I don't want to live through this again! I don't want to see this place get taken again!" Kara said as Superman looked confused.

"'Taken'?" Clark asked in confusion as Manhunter went wide eyed as he saw a large ship coming in.

"I have an idea…we can taket he rocket to Billy's dream." Manhunter said as he concentrated, lifting the Rocket and themselves into the air as the group flew off, including Dream.

"What is that thing?" Dubbliex asked, seeing it as Kara looked at the ship with horror.

"GET ME OUT OF HERE NOW!" Kara said in clear panic, going through a scared setting as Dubbilex opened the rocket with his bare hands and helped Kara out.

"Lets move, now!" Superman said as Dream opened a portal as the five went through as they came through a black nothingness between dreams, Kara turning back to her usual attire.

"What's going on?" Kara asked in confusion as Manhunter looked at her with sympathy.

"A man named John Dee, now known as 'Dr. Destiny' is trying to plague your minds so you cannot save yourselves from being comatose…at least from what I can tell. You and Clark were the first to be saved…we are heading to Billy next." J'onn explained as Kara nods, as Clark put an arm around her.

"I can understand you were afraid, Kara…it's nothing to be ashamed off." Superman reassured her, making her smile faintly at her cousin. Dream got some sand and sprinkled it, causing it to go back behind them.

"I shall repair your dream world, Kara…so you can have your plesant dreams for the rest of the night once we are done with this Destiny character." Dream said calmly as Kara smiled.

(Hall of Justice. 1:47)

Alchimia lead the heroes down the hall to a large garage as he says, "Ta-da! Say hello to the Javelin!" Batman looked up with a curious gaze.

Infront of them was a dark gray jet-like machine that had a narrow, arrowhead-shaped dock and two long wings on the side with dark marks on the sides. "Impressive…it looks similar to the Batwing."

"Kinda the basis of the design, but for a LOT more. The Javelin is made to go through the air, the sea AND in outer space. This is just a proto-type, so this could be the best mission for wanting to find him fast."

"I helped with the finishing touches with the work I did on the T-Ship." Cyborg explained futher as the group went into the ship as Snapper gave a thumbs up, while they went inside.

"Wow…" Said Perdita in awe as she looked inside of the ship. "This is amazing work!"

"Heh, I aim to please. And it uses some new-age stuff that I helped make. For example; a powercore that's a relatively clean fuel so a lot cleaner and of course…" He pressed a button as the ship vanished. "Invisible mode."

"Hmm…take it this tech was salvaged from Wonder woman's old jet?" Batman asked in amusement as Alchimia nods.

"Yeah…still don't know where she got that thing from, but it's still handy." Alchimia said as everyone got into their positions as they buckled up. "Lets…GO!" Suddenly the ship flew out quickly, heading out the new-found hanger in the Hall, as he says, "Sorry! Put it on boosters by accident." HE turned them off, slowing it down as the others groaned a bit.

"Heh…she's got some kick…" said Cyborg, rubbing his neck at this. Green arrow and Canary groaned as they noticed that Canary had landed in Arrow's lap, having forgotten to put her seatbelt on as she quickly got up.

"Sorry." Canary said sheepishly as Arrow just gave a 'it's cool' motion, making Perdita giggle a bit as Wildcat groaned.

"Ugh…yeah, it kicked alright…like an angry donkey." Wildcat said as Batman nods in agreement as Katana gave a faint curse in Japanese.

"Hey, this is her first flight. OK Perdita, do your thing." Alchimia said as Green Arrow handed her the mask, as she nods.

Perdita took a deep breath as she closed her eyes as her hair floated faintly as her eyes began to give off a faint shine as she opened her eyes. "I sense him…he's about 50 miles east, then you go 40 miles North."

"Alright, if you're sure. Lets ride." Said Alchimia with a smirk as he drove the jet east to get there.

(Inside of Billy's mind)

The heroes then opened the portal into Billy's mind, seeing that it was mostly a large room. "Rather simple so far." Dubbilex said, looking around as Superman looked around in concern as he noticed that there were photographs on the walls.

"Hmm…this must be his mother and father." Superman said, picking up one of the pictures and see a small boy with black hair sitting inbetween two people who were smiling in the camera; one was a fairly athletic man with short black hair and dark blue eyes, very similar to Captain Marvel's chosen form, and next to him was a woman with neck-length brown hair and bright green eyes.

The pictures showed many more of them, showing many happy moments before the pictures began to grow more and more somber as the hall continued. In one it showed Billy being put into an orphange, then under the raising of a mean-looking man who was smirking over a check he was given by the bank, and then it showed Billy meeting LaGreen.

J'onn frowned before he heard crying in the corner as he saw Billy curled up, sobbing. J'onn looked at him and says, "Billy, are you alright?"

"Odd thing to ask…to the boy who's all alone." Destiny's voice said, making Superman's eyes narrow. "After all…his parents were killed by that madman Black Adam at the tender age of 4, his uncle used him for wealth, he was reduced to living on the streets…he has no one."

"OK, will you shut up? He's not alone, he has us." Kara said, glaring into the darkness as Destiny just laughed.

"very sweet of you, Supergirl, but all but pointless. And this is what being 'good' has brought him. Nothing but heartache. With No family to speak of." Destiny said as Superman glared at this.

"That's where you are wrong." Superman said as he walked over to Billy, putting a hand on his shoulders. "Billy…you have to listen to me. We cannot replace your parents…but I know this better than anyone. You are never truly alone. Family isn't just about blood it's about connection. And you got a family right here."

Dream sprinkled sand on the ground, as Destiny growled in annoyance at this whole thing as the room started to fill with more people; images of Freddy, Darla, Eugene, Pedro and even other people in Fawcett that looked after Billy started to form.

"What do you have to say about this, kid?" the dream maker asked as Billy got up, as Dr. Destiny formed over this as he glared at this.

"Just one for you…" said Billy as he suddenly turned into Captain Marvel in his dream. "I'm NOT gonna let you push me around again!" He then flew forward to punch him but Destiny vanished before he could get him.

"This guy is more slippery than an eel…" Dream said with a scowl as he opened another portal. "We should be able to catch up with him in Jason blood's dream…he should be able to get us somewhere."

(In a diner in Pennsylvania. April 4th, 2:03.)

At a Gas station in a small town, people were groaning as they were being messed with as John, wearing ragged robes over his frame to mimic his nightmarish counterpart, was murmuring a bit. He chuckled as he made them attack each other or harass one another, chuckling in glee before a groan escaped his lips from what Dream was doing in the dreamscape.

"That Dream character…he's getting in my way in the dream world…but in the waking world, I am only gaining more power…" His eyes turned red. "After all…the Dreaming has allowed me to tap into power not known by most men…but I shall protect myself, just to be safe."

Ripples formed over him as the café slowly began to gain an odd effect, turning the large room into a large maze-like building on the inside, as Destiny just laughed as the Javelin was flying in.

"There it is. That is where this John Dee is." Perdita said as Canary pats her head, smiling at the girl.

"Thank you, Perdita." Canary said as Wildcat blinked a bit as he adjusted his headset a bit.

"OK, is my eyes messing with me or is that a giant flying cow?" Wildcat asked as the group saw that, indeed, a large ox with wings was flying at them, making Alchimia fly down to dodge it.

"What the hell was that!?" Asked Batman in anger as Robin was taping away on his armband that connected to the bat computer.

"Whatever that Dream thing is…it's making an entire realm of dreams around America…and it's slowly growing…it started in Gotham, but it's growing till it started forming over half of the United States and some of the islands off the coast."

"And anyone caught in it are gonna be affected by him." Batman said with a scowl. "So he can go from place to place no matter what…how long until he has almost everyone under his thrall?"

"Approximately…" Tim's eyes widen as Speedy looked over his shoulder and gained a horrified look.

"45 minutes…" Speedy said as the group looked at each other and nod as Alchimia went down, as they all ignored the sick laughter of John Dee that rang in their minds as his power continued to spread.

(At CADMUS HQ. 2:09)

Amanda looked at the scene before her, watching as she saw Superman, Billy and Kara had calmed own but saw that the situation got worse as she gave a faint groan herself. "Dear god…his influence is spreading…" she muttered, not liking this at all. She glared ahead as she says, "Dubbilex, you better do what is needed…before this man puts the entire world into a nightmare."
