Don't tell anyone! I scribbled furiously.

My lips are sealed. What weapons do you use? I searched his face before answering.

Tessens. They're deceptive weapons so they're easier to hide. He nodded.

Much like you yourself. You may look delicate but I'll bet you're a fierce warrior. I glanced at him with a small smile.

I have a katana here myself. We should spar sometime. I full out grinned then. I might finally have a challenge!

I didn't bother going to the dorms right after our last class ended. I wanted to read some more in peace and stay in the moonlight for a while, curfew be damned. I liked night time. I felt freer at night. I could let out my tail and ears with less chance of being seen. I wandered back into the library to my corner and pulled out the book from earlier. The myths from it were so farfetched and strange, it was hilarious!

"Back again?" A baritone voice said in amusement. I turned; surprised I didn't hear or smell him.

"Ah, Kain-senpai." I said. "Gomenasai, I wanted to read some more of the book." I held it up so he could see the cover. He raised his eyebrow.

"You believe in vampires?" I smiled. Of course he would act as if he weren't one.

"I believe that there are things on this earth whose existence cannot be explained." I spoke carefully, choosing my words wisely. "If vampires are one of those things then so be it." He nodded thoughtfully.

"I hope at the very least you don't believe what you read in that then." He said in mild annoyance.

"Of course not." I replied. "So many myths are ridiculous. Why would they burn going out into the sun? If they're nocturnal then they'd avoid it because their eyes are sensitive to the light." He nodded and scoffed at the theory.

"If you find it ridiculous then why are you reading it?" He asked. I smirked.

"Because it's all so ridiculous that it's funny to read." I told him. He smirked back at me.

"That's all fine and well, but you should get to your dorm before the little beasties come out to eat you." He taunted. I laughed.

"Who would want to eat me?" I asked. "I'm sure I taste terrible." His eyes darkened slightly in color.

"Maybe, but then, to someone normal, humans probably do taste gross." He said as he approached me. I stiffened unnoticeably and calmly closed my book, letting my hand twitch towards my tessen. He leaned into my neck and inhaled my scent before whispering in my ear. "But to creatures of the night I'm sure your smell and taste are intoxicating." I forced down a dark blush at his words. They were so simple, holding no true meaning outside that I apparently smell like I taste good. And he was a vampire! He's on blood tablets! Human (or in this case, Neko human) blood smells enticing to him anyway!

"I have to go," I said, standing and pulling away from him. I put the book back on its shelf and hurried out of the room.

What the hell was that? I mentally chided myself. You don't get involved. Ever. You're on your own; you can't let others get to you. I knew the purpose behind it, the necessity. So why did I react that way? Why did he make me so… out of character? I hadn't smiled like that since I met Kiryuu-san. I hadn't laughed a real laugh since… I couldn't remember when.

I sighed deeply as I entered my room, shutting the door silently and locking it. I needed to be free. I changed quickly into a pair of plain black skinny jeans and a ¾ sleeve fishnet shirt with a dark red tank top over it. I pulled on some black fingerless leather gloves and black, lightweight flat boots before slipping my tessens into each one and opening my window. I jumped onto the tree and flung myself from branch to branch, allowing myself the pleasure of getting to the earth below the fun way. I giggled when I hit the ground and began to run, the lightness of my apparel letting me move faster, freer. I laughed as I raced through the woods, not caring if there were vampires everywhere.

Fuck them all! I thought as I stopped in front of a tree. I slid out my belly ring and replaced it with the one I bought the day before. My tail popped out and my ears sprang up. I blinked as I the darkness became easier to see in. I grinned, my slightly sharper canines glinting slightly. I raked my harder nails against the tree beside me, testing them. They held sturdily against the tree. I grinned again, happy to not be hiding myself and began to run once again. I felt like I could go anywhere! I was free! At last I was free… Until the second level E in two days attacked.

I hissed at the thing, jumping away and clawing at it violently. She grinned at me grotesquely; she was worse off than man from yesterday. She was so covered in blood I couldn't even tell what color her hair was. I backed up and crouched low with a growl building in my chest. I pulled my tessens from my boots and flipped them out. I attacked without hesitation. The thing was faster than the first one… And she was also mentally more stable.

"Are you the one that killed Kota?" She asked me as she dodged. I backed up again, not used to questions like that. "Are you the girl who killed my Kota? I found his dust yesterday. Are you the one who killed my mate?" Her eyes glowed bright red and she snarled the last sentence. I smirked at her.

"That dumb shit was your mate? I'd say you could better but…" I trailed off, letting her come to her own conclusion. She snarled again and attacked. I dodged neatly and attacked her myself, she was too blinded by rage to dodge this time, and too bloodthirsty to block. I swiped my left tessen across her face while closing my right and squeezing. She growled at me when blood dripped down her face.

"BITCH!" She shrieked as she swiped out at me, her nails raked up my neck and across my cheek right as I stabbed her heart, carving it away as I had done with "Kota's". I hissed as I folded my other tessen and put them both away. I was close enough to the academy that the vampires would smell the blood. I had to act fast. I began running, switching out my belly rings and letting the rest of my body turn to that of a normal human's. I pulled off my tank top and held it up to the wound on my neck, holding it in place. I heard one shout and feet following me.

"Fuck!" I stated, running harder, pumping my legs faster. I kept running, and idea came to me. I pulled the shirt away from my neck and tore it in two. And then into fourths, then sixths. I ran in the opposite direction of the Sun Dorms, headed probably in the direction of the Moon. I dropped the chunks of my clothes at random intervals before jumping onto a tree branch. I went on like that, jumping from tree to tree until I got almost completely to the Sun Dorms. I flung myself to the earth and sprinted, scaling up the tree as fast as my clawless hands could and into my room, slamming my window shut. I sighed and pressed a hand over my neck.

"So where did you run off to Akemi-oshii?" I teasing voice asked in a serious tone. I gasped and turned to find Aido, Kain, and Ruka all either sitting or standing at random places in my room. Aido sitting in a chair facing me on the other side of the room with one leg crossed over the other, Ruka leaning against the dresser and Kain sitting on my bed, leaning back on his hands with his legs stretched out in front of him. Needless to say, I was pissed. I pressed my hand harder against my neck and snarled at them.

"Get the fuck out."

Redbell9- thanks so much! I've never really worked with a "rough draft" per say. I'll get several ideas and then go with it. Whatever happens; happens. Sometimes I don't even use any of the ideas (-.-") I personally think that stories are always their best when you come up with the on the fly. And I'm glad you like the way I described his scent, I figured it should have to do with his element and from there it just ended up described that way. I hope you enjoy the rest of the chapters!
