"Hey, if it isn't the little feisty one."
I rolled my eyes as Kurama walked into the kitchen.
I was at Kushina's house, finally able to get permission from Fugaku to visit her every now and again. Well, it was mostly Kushina and how she stated that as she was my godmother, it was her every right to see me. Since she was banned from the Uchiha Mansion, that only meant that I could come to her place. It suited me just fine. I felt more at home in this average home full of people, than that massive house full of empty hallways.
Right now, I was helping Kushina prepare dinner. Peeling and chopping the vegetables, and doing whatever I could. I felt good, helping to do some chores. I never knew how boring life could be without doing some kind of chore.
"Hey Kurama." I turned my attention back to the peeling.
"You know, it's funny how she can just ignore a gift."
"She's always been like that."
My eyes widened at the second voice, recognising it instantly.
My head snapped back towards the doorway so fast, I feared for whiplash.
But nothing could ever distract me from seeing the tall, dark-skinned male standing next to Kurama. As tall as ever, as toned as ever, his smile as cocky and confident as ever.
Tama Malosi was standing in front of me, flesh and bone.
"Tama..." I whispered, my hands clenching.
"Hey munchkin, how's it go- what the fuck?!" He dodged the flying knife by a hair's breadth. "The hell was that for?!"
"For making Mum and everyone else worry about you! For making me worry about you, you stupid idiot!" I snapped, throwing more utensils at him. "You idiot! Didn't you think to tell anyone that you were going?! Didn't you tell Jordyn that you were going away? We thought you were taken! You fucking numbskull! I should rip you limb from limb, and force feed you your intestines! Tama Mataio Mareko Luka Ioane Malosi don't you dare run away from me!"
When Sasuke and Naruto walked into the room, they were greeted with the scene of a grown-ass, muscular man, cowering from a disable teenager, waving a knife, screaming death threats and profanities. The other tall male in the room held the handlebars of her wheelchair to prevent her from moving forward, avoiding the waving knife as best as he could.
Kushina smirked at Sasuke and Naruto, highly amused by the scene.
"Uh… Miwa-chan?" Naruto cautiously approached me.
"What?" I whipped my head around to glare at him.
Naruto gulped nervously, "You think you can put down the knife? You might accidentally stab someone."
"Oh no, Naruto-san." I laughed darkly, eyes gleaming with malice. "If I stab someone, it will be on purpose. Because the person I'm stabbing is that bastard over there!"
Tama let out a 'manly' shriek as I hurled yet another blade at him.
"What if you hit him?" Naruto cried out in alarm as I grabbed another knife.
"Then he's-" I grunted as I threw another one. "-a pathetic excuse of a Corps leader! Tama Malosi stay still!"
Naruto backed away wisely, making his way to the doorway. "Sasuke, I think your sister went mental."
Sasuke raised an amused eyebrow. This was one of the rare times when I would lose control, no doubt he was endlessly amused.
"Uchiha! How the hell do you control your sister?!" Kurama demanded.
"Take her out of the room when the knife leaves her hand." Sasuke shrugged.
My eyes widened as the last blade left my knife, before I knew it, I was being carted out of the room by a disgruntled Kurama Uzumaki-Namikaze.
"YOU BASTARD, LET ME AT HIM!"
"So what? You can kill my friend with your blades of fury?" Kurama snorted, "Not likely, gaki."
I glared at him, and at Sasuke who followed us into the living room.
"You ruined my fun..." I grumbled, folding my arms. "I wasn't aiming to kill."
Kurama raised an eyebrow at me.
"...I was aiming to maim."
He sighed as he directed me to a place, where nothing was within easy reaching distance of me. I pouted, he ruined even more of my fun.
"Mind if I use a phone?" I looked up at the redhead.
"Here." Sasuke handed me his.
"Thanks, Aniki." I mumbled absent-mindedly dialling the familiar number.
'Hello?'
"Guess who found your idiotic Corps leader." I remarked snidely, shooting a glare at my cousin. Who stood at the doorway, with a horrified expression on his face. "Do you know where he is? He's all the way here in fucking Japan."
'...How did you get this number?'
I blinked slightly, finally registering the unfamiliar, yet familiar voice. "Where's Jordyn?"
'…I will ask again. How did you get this number?'
I was unaware of the other people who finally joined us in the room. "I'm calling in regards to Leader Malosi. Is Member Jordyn there?"
'Please hand him the phone.'
Confused, I handed the phone to Tama, accidentally hitting the speaker button.
Tama held the phone to his ear nervously. "Uh… hey?"
'YOU DAMNED FOOL! DIDN'T YOU EVEN THINK TO NOTIFY US?! WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU SO I CAN RIP YOUR-' Tama hit the speaker button off, and ran out of the room. Mumbling into the phone.
"Huh, it's been a while since I heard Blair." Kurama grinned to himself.
"That was Blair?" I paled. "Ohhhhhh, shit… what have I done?"
"Yeah, that was Blair." Kurama chuckled to himself.
"You don't think that he recognised me, do you? That would be horrifying." I dragged a hand down my reddening face. "Shit."
"Who's Blair?" Sasuke spoke up suddenly, looking between Kurama, me and the doorway where Tama disappeared out of.
"He's the leader of the Youth group Tama and I are in." I said automatically, giving the excuse that I had been using for about a million different times. "He's also my best friends' older brother."
"And Miwa's boyfriend."
I shot up out of my slumped position, glaring at my brother-like cousin. "You, Tama Malosi, are not off the hook yet, so don't you dare try to crack jokes, you fucktard!"
"'Boyfriend'?" Kurama repeated, looking at me with a wolfish grin on his face.
I rolled my eyes, my cheeks burning. "He's such a liar. Don't believe anything that numbskull says."
"Gnaaaw.~" Kurama pinched my cheeks, "Does wittle Miwa-chwan have a cwush?"
I bared my teeth and snapped at him, aiming to bite the fingers pinching me. "I do not! He's like a million years older than me! There's no way I'd ever like someone that old. Plus, he's extremely paranoid, way too serious and he's emotionally constipated! Even if I did like him, which I don't, he's literally incapable of liking anyone back."
Silence.
"MIWA'S GOT A CRUSH!" Kushina squealed as she appeared in the doorway, a bright, devious smile on her face.
"I told you that I don't!" I ran a hand through my hair exasperated. "Aunt Kushina, you're meant to be on my team!"
"I'm on the team of love!" Kushina declared dramatically. "Oh, what does he look like? How old is he? Is he good-looking? Is he sweet? Is he-"
I threw a pleading look towards Naruto and Kurama, hoping they'll manage to distract their mother. But neither of them made a move to aid me, I glared at them. Half-listening to Kushina prattle on and on about how I was growing up too quickly, having a boyfriend-
"How many times do I have to say it? I don't have a boyfriend!" I exclaimed, throwing my hands up in the air. "Glob of all, take me now!"
"She got that from Adventure Time." Tama explained to the confused males.
"But it's only a matter of time, Miwa-chan." Kushina insisted, completely ignoring Tama's interuption.
"Aunt Kushina, I'm only, like, fifteen years old." I rolled my eyes. "I'm too young to get a boyfriend."
"Damn right you are." Two voices seemed to grumble.
I looked around, one of them was definitely Tama, but who was the other one?
"Just because you can't order, doesn't mean you can't look at the menu." Kushina winked.
I looked at her, eyes wide and mouth open. "D-does that mean you look at the menu as well?"
"Well…."
"Aw, Kaa-chan! Don't answer that!" Naruto groaned, covering his ears with his hands.
Even Kurama looked slightly disturbed at that question.
Kushina could only chuckle at her sons' reactions, and went back to the kitchen.
"Hey,"
I glared up at the older male, before stubbornly turning back to my book.
"Look, I'm sorry that I didn't tell you." Tama sat on the floor beside me. "But I really needed to do this."
Still, I kept silent. Trying, and failing, to focus on the words on the page in front of me.
"It's just… I missed you, Alofa." Tama mumbled, leaning on my wheelchair. "You don't know what it feels like. When you're not there, seeing your friends together and knowing that I won't be able to see you in the middle of them, going to those meetings and knowing you won't be next to me, trying to distract me from what Blair was saying. And it was all-"
"If you fucking say it was all your fault." I close the book sharply, turning my dark eyes to him. "I'll fucking kill you."
Tama smiled weakly. "Dude, if I had sent you home-"
"You did." I cut him off again. "But I didn't listen."
Tama opened his mouth to speak again.
"Tama, shut up and listen to me." I flicked him in the forehead. "Whatever happened to me is not your fault. It is not Taylor or Jordyn's fault. It isn't even Blair's for giving us that area. Those dimwits who did it are the ones at fault. It's also my fault for jumping in front of Jordyn. But I'd do it again in a heartbeat."
"Yeah, but if I took you home myself-"
"I would've snuck off and met up with Tay and Jor."
"If I hadn't sent them to that place-"
"Someone else would've been hurt." I rolled my eyes. "It's not your fault! How many times do we have to tell you? It's not your fault Jordyn's got a broken arm. It's not your fault I'm in a wheelchair. And it's definitely not your fault Taylor's in a coma! And!" I grabbed his ear, and pulled on it harshly. "Don't you dare run away from your problems at home! If you don't want to be in the Brotherhood then fine! But don't you dare leave because you think that it is your fault why the three of us got hurt! If it was anyone else, they would've died."
"You don't know that!"
"Oh? You think the training that Blair puts Tay and Jor is easy?" I raised an eyebrow at him. "You think the training you put me through is easy? You and Blair put us through extra hell because you didn't want us to get hurt! If we were anyone else's little sisters, would you have given us that much training? We would've gotten a whole lot worse if it wasn't for you and Blair! We owe it to you."
Tama smiled sadly at me, he reached up and brushed my bangs out of my eyes. "Say what you want, sis. But it doesn't change the fact that you're hurt."
I rubbed my temples, feeling the start of a headache. "It also doesn't change the fact that Taylor's in hospital! I jumped in front of Jordyn, but I left Taylor defenceless! She was counting on me to have her back and yet… I let her take the blow..."
"She would've hated it if Jordyn got killed instead." Tama murmured, his hand still in my hair. "You can't be everywhere all at once."
"Why don't you tell yourself that, idiot?"
"Because I'm your brother." He twirled a strand of my hair in his fingers. "I'm supposed to be looking out for you. I'm meant to protect you. I can't let you get hurt. Especially, when I can prevent it."
"You're such an idiot." I flicked him in the forehead once more, not noticing Sasuke walking into the room as I did that. "You may be my big brother, but that doesn't mean you have to do everything on your own. You've got me."
Tama chuckled, leaning his head on my armrest. "You're the best little sister, you know that?"
"I know."
"Humble too." Tama's eyes flickered to Sasuke, who stood at the doorway watching the two of us. I didn't see him, taking in the comfort of the presence of my brother-like cousin. "I hope your brothers will know it too."
A/N: I know it's been such a long time since I've updated. Last time I updated was around the beginning of exams, then was orientation and getting ready for the new year. Even though it was summer holidays, there was no time to update or even write! Too much babysitting, summer homework and all that jazz -_-
I will try to update a bit more, but honestly? Year 12 is so demanding... There won't be any set date, sorry. But I do promise to try and update a bit more often!
Until next time!
