A/N: Another chapter! I felt that I should update twice, just in case time starts eating away at me and I never upload again. Part 2!
Milz's first day of school was going by awfully. He sat alone at lunch and could hear everyone talk about him, especially Jacob. The zombie nibbled at his cheese and crackers alone. He slurped down his apple juice, silently wishing that this disgusting fruity flavor was replaced by the warm, coppery taste of fresh blood. The apples on the box were red so that was better than nothing.
Two big, blue doors opened to the outside world and the kids hopped up from their spots. They ran like a stampede out to the playground as Milz got up and threw his trash away in a sad manner. He walked outside and passed all of the playing, laughing kids. He found himself a lonely spot in the shade and sat in the grass, feeling left out and lonely. The undead wanted so badly to go home and cry in the arms of his fathers. He hated school and school hated him.
Meanwhile at home, the Veterans found themselves in the living room, trying to make the time pass and counting down the dreaded hours until they could go pick up their son. Dempsey tapped his foot impatiently while he stared at the TV. He wasn't really watching it, just staring at it. Family Feud was the last thing on his mind. The Marine was actually infuriated at the thought of his son being bullied and picked on at school. He swore that if Milz came home with even the slightest frown on his face, one of those kids would become firewood.
Richtofen occupied himself by folding laundry and towels. His pills had mellowed him out a bit and he had to find something to do other than making blood lollipops and experimenting on people. He reached into the clothes basket and pulled out Milz's favorite blue shirt with Captain America's face on it. The Doctor swore to himself that he wouldn't think too hard about his favorite little zombie, but the tension was eating away him. He needed him back.
Nikolai, for the first time in his life, was drinking his feelings away. He chugged down one bottle of vodka after another, getting more and more drunk by the second. He drank as much as he could in order to ward away the desire to have his brain-eating son back at his side, talking about silly things and enlightening him with his brilliance.
Takeo had it the worst. He felt awful for leaving Milz behind and the drive home was so quiet, not even music could cleanse the silence. All he could hope for was that Milz was having a better time than he was.
Out of the blue, Dempsey got up from his spot on the couch and rushed for the door.
"I'm gonna go get him!"
His three roommates sprung up from their positions on the carpet and grabbed a limb, pulling on him. Tank held onto the door handle for dear life as Nikolai, Edward and Takeo tugged on his lower body, attempting to stop him from leaving.
"No!"
Into the first 5 minutes of recess, Milz found enjoyment in picking grass out of the ground and rolling wet leaves around it, claiming that they were grass rolls. The sudden shuffling of leaves next to him caused him to freeze up. He hoped and hoped that it wasn't Jacob.
"Hi!" A cute, squeaky voice reached his ears.
The zombie turned his attention to the child next to him who, thankfully, wasn't Jacob. In fact, it was a small little girl with skin as gray as his. Her eyes were also yellow and shiny, just as his were. Her hair was pitch black and up in a tiny bun upon her head. She had an adorable flower pin in her hair that held her bangs out of her face. The girl wore a pair of ripped black jeans and a yellow hoodie that had a picture of Wolverine on the front. On her feet were yellow rain boots.
Milz thought that what he was seeing was an illusion until the girl smiled at him again. Yep, she was a zombie as well.
"My name's Alice!" the girl introduced and held out her hand.
"My name is Milz." the zombie whispered, shaking the girl's hand, surprised that someone was actually talking to him.
"Nice to meet you!" Alice exclaimed. "Are you a zombie, too?"
"Um... yeah!" Milz said, scratching his head awkwardly.
"I thought I was the only one! Lucky me!" the girl sighed, wiping imaginary sweat from her forehead.
"Do you like brains as well?" Milly questioned.
"Yep! Human food is icky!" Alice laughed, showing her bright white teeth. One of her front teeth were missing. "Do you like school so far?"
"No." Milz whimpered, shaking his head miserably. "I get picked on..."
"By who?!" Alice gasped, suddenly seeming very angry. "Who bully you?!"
"Jacob." Milz answered, a little afraid of Alice's anger.
"Where Jacob?! I'll show him!" the black-haired undead forced out, getting up from her seat.
Before Milz could calm the girl down, she sniffed the air briefly and spotted Jacob nearly a mile away. Milz spoke up to her, but she refused to listen and took off into Jacob's direction. She ran over to him and the coffee-haired zombie got up and followed her, trying to avoid conflict. Alice stomped over to the freckle-faced human and stole his football from him.
"Hey! Give that back, Alice! My dad bought me that!" the boy yelled. "You're a stupid girl! You can't play football anyway!"
"You stupid, Jacob! You always bully!" Alice growled, pointing at Milz who stood behind her.
"Yeah, so?! He's a mutant! Both of you! You guys deserve it!"
"If I deserve bullying, you don't deserve football!" And with that, the brave female zombie launched herself back and threw Jacob's football over the fence and into the busy street on the other side.
Jacob turned red with anger and pushed the undead girl onto the ground. Before things could go any further, Mrs. Sophia rushed over to the scene and picked up Jacob, throwing him over her shoulder and heading back to the school. The snobby child threw a fit, kicking, screeching and crying.
Milz didn't understand why, but a joyous, vengeful smile slithered onto his face. Maybe school wasn't so bad. At least, with Alice around.
