"I don't know but I have a bad feeling about him," I muttered glaring at the man as he discussed with the village head.

"Nevertheless, we shouldn't meddle in their affairs," Miroku whispered putting his hand on Inuyasha's shoulder, as if to calm him down. Heh, fat chance of that happening.

"I can't help it, that stench is stringer now than it was back on the trail," Inuyasha said bearing his teeth a little in anger. "It's sickening." I nodded before realizing that the old man probably could hear every word. I glanced at him for a second to see that he was staring at the village head as well, but whether he was pleased or not, I couldn't tell.

"Shunswei I have returned, the guards tell me you wanted my say in something," he old man said, attracting the attention of the village head and his companion. Shunswei looked up and his eyes widen at the sight of Inuyasha carrying the old man, his eyes narrowed as he took in each one of us until they finally landed on me. He stared at me the longest, which was baffling, what did he see that made him suspicious? The second man with the mask also turned and his eyes widened with surprise. He didn't say a word but I could tell that he wasn't very happy to see any of us.

"Young man you may put me down, my nephew can help me from here," the old man said patting at Inuyasha's shoulder. Inuyasha nodded bending over to let the old man get to his feet. I went over to hand over the old man's staff to him, feeling Shunswei's eyes on me the whole time. What the hell is he staring at, I thought, making sure not to keep eye contact with him. His staring gave me an uneasy feeling in my stomach.

"Uncle," Shunswei said walking over to us in haste, "Where have you been, I've been needing your advise on a certain matter." He went over to the old man, a look of genuine concern crossing his features as he bent over to bow to him. The old man laughed waving patting Shunswei on the head, as if he were nothing but a little boy.

"No matter no matter, I was assisted by these kind people, if you could dear nephew show them the greatest hospitality as they have shown me the same kindness today." Shunswei looked around at us all, his eyes narrowing again particularly on me. I glared back at him, annoyed that he kept such a hostile glare towards me. What the hell did I do?

"Of course, anyone who has helped my uncle has helped me, please do stay the night, I'm sure travelers, such as yourselves are of need of shelter," he said getting up and smiling broadly at us. I stepped back letting Miroku do the talking as I didn't want to be anywhere near this man.

"Well of course, we would be delighted to stay, as we are of need of it, thank you very much, you do us a great honor," Miroku said bowing his head slightly.

"Ah a priest, my, my I didn't expect this. It would be my honor since you saved my uncle in his time of need, my servants will take you to your quarters," he said chuckling a bit.

"Hey, Kaname are you alright," Kagome whispered as she noticed that I was slowly backing away. Startled at this comment, I laughed shaking my head slightly as we were all lead by a maid down the hall. As we walked by, we passed the man in the mask, irritating Inuyasha even more. Suddenly, Inuyasha sprung and grabbed the man by the front, pushing him against the wall.

"What the hell are you," Inuyasha growled at the man's face, his eyes radiating with anger. The man didn't respond as he narrowed his eyes at Inuyasha.

"Didn't I warn you not to get in my way, half-demon," the man said in a threatening tone. Inuyasha spat on the floor before pushing the man more to the wall as if to intimidate him.

"Inuyasha stop, this isn't the time or place for this, the village head might get angry," Kagome said reaching out to tug on Inuyasha's arm.

"Enough Inuyasha, leave him be," Miroku said in a strained voice.

"Shut up, I don't give a damn what they'll do. What the hell are you doing in a human village carrying bodies around with you, bastard" Inuyasha continued to shake the man more and more as if that were going to get something out of him. Then quick as a cat, the man grabbed Inuyasha by the front of his robes and flipped him over, making Inuyasha land painfully on his back. "AGH!"

"Inuyasha!" Kagome ran at Inuyasha, bending over to check if he was all right. Miroku also went over, his jaw tightened between anger and worry. The man brushed at his robes, as if cleaning away some dirt left behind. I glared at him, readying myself to punch that masked face with all my might.

"I wouldn't if I were you," the man said stepping up to me, making me lift my face in order to see him. He was taller than me, but didn't look that well built up close.

"Make sure neither you nor your mongrel friend get in my way, I'm trained to kill demons like you, so if I get the opportunity I'll crush you both," he whispered, glowering at me, the light from the lanterns barely illuminating his already cover face. Something churned in my stomach as I took in the threat glowing in his eyes. Was this fear, I couldn't tell, but I knew this much: this man was pissing me off.

"Don't kid yourself, I merely find you a disgusting excuse for a human. We don't have time to waste on the likes of you, now get out of my face before I make you." I waited for him to move aside, but as he lingered, the uneasiness inside of me kept heightening. The man nodded, and without saying another word, he spun his heel and strode out of the hall.

"What was that all about," Sango asked as she came from behind me, her face masked with concern. I didn't reply as the threat that the man uttered lingered in my thoughts. I'm trained to kill demons like you. What did he mean by that?

"I'm getting real tired of this shit," Inuyasha scoffed rising to his feet, brushing off his clothes.

"Kaname, what did that man whisper to you before," Miroku asked a grave expression on his face. Normally I would have spilled everything he said right there and in the open, but I hesitated. What he said frightened me; it was the same as everyone had been saying for a while. Demon. Half-demon. What did it all mean? Am I not human, I mean I look it and I act it, so what is it about me that make all these people think I'm not human?

"Kaname. Kaname. Are you alright, what did he say that makes your quiet all of a sudden?" Miroku bent over to touch my shoulder, but I didn't look up, as I was frozen in thought.

"I don't think this is the right place to talk about this, let's head inside didn't you all decide you wanted to rest." Inuyasha nodded as a maid passed by, staring at us all just standing in the middle of the hall.

"Let's go," I said lowering my eyes and walking on ahead, feeling everyone's stares as I took each step.

"Kaname what the hell is the matter with you, you haven't uttered a word since we talked to that guy," Inuyasha yelled slamming his fist on the floor. I glared back at him; I didn't like being commanded to do anything. We had all just finished eating a well-cooked dinner and were now all alone in a room to be ready to sleep.

"Inuyasha sit!" Inuyasha landed on the ground with a huge thud, his face squished on the wooden floor. Inuyasha groaned loudly before he started shouting at her.

"What the hell was that for!" Kagome looked away, ignoring Inuyasha's tantrum.

"Enough you two, that man just threatened me that's all," I said waving off at them all. Of course, this didn't sooth them, in fact it probably worried Miroku, Sango, and Kagome more, as my looks on their faces.

"What do you mean threatened," Miroku asked his eyebrows furrowed even deeper. I sighed, trying to keep down my fear from before.

"He said that he hunted demons and that he would kill both Inuyasha and me if he got the chance," I said gritting my teeth to control my anger. "Apparently a lot of people seem to think that I am a demon of some kind."

'It's strange, you smell human enough though," Inuyasha murmured sniffing the air in my direction.

"What do you mean human enough?" I watched as Inuyasha continued to sniff the air some more.

"You smell human, but there is a small unfamiliar smell that I get from you, but I just though it was because of your powers."

"But think Inuyasha, if her powers were indeed that of a priestess of such, should would have the same abilities as Kagome, she would be able to detect the presence of the jewel shards and such. But instead she acts more like you; she can detect a demonic presence and smell at the same time. It truly is baffling." Miroku continued to stare at me, his hand stroking his chin, as if lost in thought. "But I don't understand what Naraku wants of you, he did indeed come to get you himself using Kanna and Kagura as a diversion of sorts."

"I don't like this," I muttered slamming the ground again in frustration. "What the hell is going on with me? Am I human? Am I not? Every minute I let out some weird power that burns my hands every time. It just doesn't make sense."

"Also, Sesshomaru, seemed to know what you were though," Sango added as she kept petting Kirara.

"Oh yes, he said something about a tribe, remember," Kagome yelled, rising to her feet in excitement.

"Yeah," Inuyasha replied, looking at Kagome in surprise at her sudden outburst. "But fat chance he's gonna say anything, remember he tried to kill the both of us with that sword of his."

"Oh how could I forget, that jackass," I said glaring back at Inuyasha. "That demon nearly ripped my arm out."

"Nevertheless, I think we should just sleep and head out in the morning, I don't think the head will like us staying here for very long," Miroku said raising his hands as if to calm us all. I scoffed at this.

"Heh no kidding, I didn't like the way he was staring at us."

"You mean the way he was staring at you. You looked like you were about to be sick or something, did he spook you Kaname?" Shiipou jumped on my lap staring up at my face.

A trickle of sweat slid down my chest. I reached down to pat his head lightly, since for some odd reason it calmed me down. "I don't know, I just get spooked easily I guess, it was mostly the spell of that other man that got to me." I was grateful that my voice came out calm and unnerved. My heart pounded hard and my stomach churned as I smiled down at Shippou, refusing to look at everyone else's stares. I sighed then, turning away. 'It's late we should turn in if you want to leave early tomorrow."

"Agreed, let us sleep," Sango said going over to her side, I put Shippou with Kagome and followed Sango, hoping that sleep would somehow get rid of this uneasiness that kept pestering me.

"Come to me now, or I will come after those you hold dear, Kaname." What? Who are you? Leave me alone? An array of colors swirled around me, trapping me in a sort of vortex. I tried running, ignoring the blasts of pain shooting down my chest and abdomen. "Stop running Kaname, you have no need to fear me, I will make your death painless I promise." WHAT! NO!

Suddenly, a sharp pain radiated out of my skull. I screamed out in terror, making it feel as if my skull were fracturing. Stop it! Leave me alone, go to hell you! LEAVE ME BE!

"Never, not as long as you have that power." I continued to scream, the colors disappearing down until everything turned black.

"AAAAHH," I screamed opening my eyes. I could feel wetness rolling down my cheeks in the darkness. I got up, gasping for air in the hot night. I looked around and saw that no one had noticed my sudden yell. Everyone was still deep on sleep, unaware of the demons that seemed to be keeping me awake. What the hell was that voice? Why does it keep calling me? "Heh," I scoffed resting my hands on my face, "I must be going crazy." I laughed humorlessly, burying my hands in my let down hair. I was exhausted, my bones ran soar from the day's traveling as I tried to get up and stretch my legs. I was wearing pajamas that Kagome had lent me, seeing as I didn't feel as comfortable sleeping in my gym pants and t-shirt. I tip toed out of the room, thinking that sitting outside a bit might calm me down a bit. I quickly grabbed a small knife from my bag and tucked it under my sleeve. Just in case, I thought, trying to close the door as quietly as possible.

I turned and slowly made my way down the corridor, into what I believed by be the back courtyard of sorts. Seeing the moon shine brightly, I got down and sat down on the bench leading outside. I stopped shaking, letting myself breath in the smell of flowers and water, as there was a garden not far from here. I closed my eyes, smiling a bit as I heard the crickets chirping in the darkness.

I stared at the moon some more, my breathing becoming easier as every minute passed. Suddenly, I could feel the presence of someone approaching, though nothing demon from my previous experience. Must be some maid coming down the hall, I though to myself as I felt the presence get closer and closer. I then heard footsteps get louder and louder making me uneasy until I heard the voice.

"Ah so you are here, I was wondering who was standing out here in the middle of the night." I glanced up to see that it was Shunswei standing next to me. I flinched when I saw him, weary that he would choose a time such as this to appear. I didn't reply, instead I tried to maintain my composure so as not to show how disturbed I was. This man made me feel uneasy, as I moonlight illuminated his features some more I could see more of his complexion. He has a hooked nose and long black hair, which was accompanied by the bushiest eyebrows I had ever seen. He frowned at my lack of response. "Are you mute girl? Why is it that you don't speak?"

"I have nothing to say, is there something that you would like to say at such a late hour?" Shunswei's frown deepened as his eyes narrowed down at me. I shrugged and turned away and continued to stare out, avoiding eye contact.

"Ryuu tells me that you are not human and that I should dispose of you while I have the chance," Shunswei suddenly said out of nowhere. I flinched at the threat, particularly because I had no idea who he was talking about.

"Ryuu? Is that someone I'm supposed to know?" I nodded without giving him a glance, though I could tell that Shunswei was getting frustrated with my lack of response as I could hear his fist clenching and unclenching.

"Ryuu is the man I hired earlier today, I believe you saw him. Now tell me why he would want me to kill you and your other friend so badly?" I sighed, feigning disinterest.

"I haven't the slightest clue, but I am curious why you would inquire such a thing from me, when I am in fact leaving in the morning." I got up to my feet, annoyed at talking to him for another second. I turned to walk away before I felt something arm my arm and pull me back hard.

"No you're not, not until I take you to Naraku first," he snarled grabbing my other shoulder roughly and turning me to face him. What? I struggled against his grip, and then tried to stomp on his feet, but he was fast. He pushed me against the wall and stared down at my eyes, a horrifying smile crossing his features.

"GET OFF ME," I snarled, wincing slightly at the pressure he was exerting on my shoulders. How come I didn't smell that this guy was a demon? "What the hell are you?" His smile broadened as his eyes glowed a blood red. Damn, I can't get him off me, what the hell has he done to my body.

"Hehehe, it's no use, your body is paralyzed by my trance you cannot move unless I command it," he cackled, his human face soon turning green. "Now sleep, girl, sleep," he commanded staring down at my eyes menacingly. Soon my eyes became heavy and my limbs went numb. No, not now, this can't be happening.

The last thing I heard was the demon's laughter as my eyes closed and everything went black.
