Sorry Guys I know this is late but I found that I wrote this in the summer but I just needed to edit it. Here it is Ill try and get next chapter up again later.
"I don't want this!" I shouted. My foot swung at the tree in front of me hitting it again and again. I was a long away from the hut now so that no one was able to hear me. Thank god to. Again and again I kicked and my foot pain soaring across my right foot. Stupid ninja wannabe! What the hell did he know? I could take care of myself. One little incident and he thinks I'm some damsel in distress.
Breathing hard I lowered my half raised foot as it was pulsing worse than my bitten arm. My entire body felt worn out and I leaned my back against the bark.
Why did this have to happen? Why did I have to get stuck here in this horrid place? Demons, monsters, murder, and anger. That's all that I've seen here since I fell through the floorboards so long ago. How has it been now? A couple months? A couple weeks? I don't remember.
A sob escaped my lips as I knelt to the ground. Hot tears pouring down my scratched cheeks. Annoyed I brushed them away. God, I was a child. Why was I crying? At least I'm alive.
A sharp pain strung in my arm making my wince. That's right. That demon bit me yesterday. God, how many more injuries could I take?
Halve scared, I slowly unwrapped the bandage that Kagome had provided. How the hell can Inuyasha get used to getting injured so much? My shoulders still ached sometimes from the stabs Kagura gave me when I first got here.
"Naraku," I groaned his image suddenly filling my mind. His red eyes, long black hair that trailed like a slithering snake. . . Even his voice gave me the creeps.
I contemplated Naraku for a moment. The other night with Kanna and Kagura had been the first time Naraku show'd himself. If he'd been able to create beings like Kanna and Kagura how come he didn't seem all that powerful. Even in my weak state I was able to hold him off.
My mind went into an alert and my thoughts buzzed uncontrollably. He was testing me. He'd wanted me to use my. . . powers. Is that what they were? A power? I glanced down at my scratched up hands searching the lines and swirls of my fingers and palms, as if there were a hidden clue I missed.
Flashes of the night before spun around my brain. The intense heat. . . . The voice that had called out to me. . .
"No," I gasped loudly. "It was her. . . but those were dreams. . .
"You shouldn't run off like that." I screamed clutching my chest. Wow I really needed to get more original.
Ryu stood about ten feet away his hands raised up in surrender. "Peace," Ryu repeated. I blinked. Not what I was expecting. My eyes peeked over his shoulder expecting to find the others accompanying him. But my eyes found nothing.
"What more do you want?" I seethed in annoyance. I rose to my feet brushing the dust from my jeans.
"Were you expecting someone else?" Ryu asked looking where I was peaking.
"Of course not. Wasn't that obvious?"
"You really need to learn to be more polite."
"Oh that's rich coming from you," I snapped. I crossed my arm, glaring at the man as he stepped closer.
"I don't know what you mean," he said frowning. I gawked at him. He can't be serious right?
"Last time I checked attacking someone from no where is called assault!"
Ryu scoffed shaking his head. "If something that small hurt so much maye you shouldn't be fighting battles."
Temper rising I grabbed the front of his shirt. "You fiend!"
"Very clever response."
Gahhhh, I want to hurl this man! "Shut up!"
"Instead of shouting at me you might want to listen," said Ryu calmly.
Damn him. Holding back the urge to punch him I turned away heading towards the direction of th hut. "Be quiet I dint wanna hear any more from you. Just GO BACK WHERE YOU CAME FROM!"
"How odd, your monk seems to believe otherwise," he replied.
I stopped truning to gawk at Ryu, who's expression remained blank. "What do you mean?"
"He's invited me to join you in your quest," he said crossing his arms over his chest.
"Whaaatt! No no no no! Uh uh no! No way!" I shouted. Ryu covered his right ear at my skrieching. Good thankfully he'll leave.
"Enough, stop that racket," he said.
"No no no! I'm going to strangle that monk," I growled.
"I don't see why you are so hesitant at the venture. You will need more assistance if you are searching for the sacred jewle shards." At this I flinched, the mention of the jewel causing a ripple of terror throughout me. No matter what promises the jewels had, they only seemed to give more trouble than they were ever worth. Why in the hell would Miroku ask someone else in pursuit of the jewels to join us?
"Don't tell me you're also looking for those accursed things," I said in disgust. Ryu laughed at my expression.
"Are you concerned after my well being?"
I grimaced. What in the world would make him think that? "Hardly," I said stiffly.
"In any case the jewel has no interest for me." Ryu turned away scratching the back of his head as he spoke.
"Then why say you're joining us?" I asked.
"Wouldn't you like to know."
Temper rising I grabbed his shirt and brought Ryu's face inches from mine. "Listen! Don't you start giving me that cryptic crap! You be straight with us or else!"
Blinking Ryu didn't reply to me immediately. He only stared down at me with that stupid calm expression. God I hate it when people do that. It always makes me feel like I'm the crazy one.
"The person I seek is searching for the jewel shards." Okay not what I was expecting.
"Naraku?" This time Ryu's expression faltered, confused. "The demon from before?"
"You say you have no affiliation with Naraku. . . "
"No that was the first time I met the beast," Ryu replied darkly, suddenly grasping my accusation.
Temper slipping from my control I tightened my grip on his robes. "Then who? Speak you weirdo!"
"I've told you enough information. Have no fear if you are scared for your life. I will not attempted to sweep you away,' he added slapping my hand away.
"Wha-" I gasped. "I wasn't even thinking that!"
"Well it's only understandable that you're afraid of that demon. He had you paralyzed last time and tried to devour you
He was also in search of the jewel last that I heard and I believe that searching for the jewel will lead to him."
"And somehow you think that staying with us is the best option," I asked skeptical. I stared at the man called Ryu. Something was off with his explanation. Clearly with the evasive vocabulary, he was hiding something. But why would Miroku invite a mercenary?
"I'm not here to talk about me," he replied. Deflecting the question, huh, I thought.
"Then what are you here to talk about then?" I crossed my arms over my chest.
"I want to know what happened the other night. "
"Nothing happened." Ryu scowled.
"I was there, I saw your face! Your voice even changed. You were a completely different being," he said roughly. My face became cool. Goose bumps trailed along the line of my arms and legs. What!? He was there!
My mind went back to the forest. The woman's voice. The cackle. Hadn't I noticed anyone around me? Or was I too oblivious to notice anything?
"No you didn't see anything!" I cried. My voice rang hysterically. I wanted to run. I wanted to hide and get away from this.
"I'm going back to the hut. You should leave."
Ryu drew himself closer. His steps followed mine.
"You left your guard down—"
"No!" I screamed covering my ears and shaking my head. I didn't want to hear this.
"You let that being take your soul—'
"Stay out of it," I said. "Do you think I'm just going to trust some guy out of no where. Especially someone who attacked me!"
Ryu let out a long exasperated breath and began massaging his temple profusely.
"Enough with the drama, woman. We both know you're just stalling. Admit it. You blacked out for that time. You felt some other presence in those moments," he said.
I blame that for what happened. Outraged at his 'drama' comment my hand came flying until it slapped his face. His face whipped around with a big red mark soreading on his cheek.
"Gahh," I gushed. My already injured hand throbbed intensely. Rubbing it hard against my shirt, I barked,"There's your answer! If I don't have anything to share, that's my right. And I will not be bullied or shamed into doing anything I don't want to. Especially to the likes you!" I rasped pushing at him hard. Sick of his ugly face, I strode my way back to the hut, my head swirling with dozens of swear words I so wished to throw at him. . . . . Not the most mature thing to think of.
The next day opened with clear skies, perfect weather for traveling. We all made our goodbyes to Kaede, whose expression remained sully whenever passing over me; Ignoring the look I hugged her good-bye promising to take better care of myself. And then we strode onwards. And much to my annoyance, the ninja-weirdo tagged along, his mask draped over his face as before. Nothing of last night's events had been brought up. Probably everyone's way of avoiding my rage and discomfort. Even Inuyasha was giving me space and strode ahead wih Kagome. Shippou stuck with me, clinging to my shoulder.
"The scent of Naraku seems to have gotten stronger around northeast. It's in traces though," Inuyasha said.
"Do you think it might be another one of Naraku's incarnations?" Miroku asked from behind me.
Oh God please no. Have't we had enough of those things already.
"I can't tell," Inuyasha mused. "It's just faint
"How can you be sure?" Kagome asked. Inuyasha glared into space, body suddenly going rigid.
"Could it be his castle?" Sango added. Kirara meowed silently from her shoulder.
"I don't sense any jewel shards nearby," Kagome said. I sniffed the air. The earthy scent of grass was the only thing I noticed. Well I guess now I know that I'm not a half-demon, I thought in relief.
Sprinting ahead Inuyasha shouted,"Let's go!" Miroku, Kagome, and Shippou all shouted at him to slow down, all of us, sprinting or riding ahead to keep up with him. I followed.
"Waahh," Shippou voice rang adorably. "Kaname aren't you tired. You shouldn't push yourself," he squeaked. I neither replied nor gave any acknowledgement.
"I can feel it as well. " a voice whiserped at my ear. I stepped back, my instincts jumping to throw a punch. When I looked to see who it was, I found myself groaning. Ryu was keeping pace with me, his eyes pinpointed straight ahead, though he wasn't fooling anyone.
"Can you feel the presence too Ryu," Shippou asked curiously. Ryu, still keeping pace with me, seemed surprised by Shippou's question and glanced at him for a moment. Did I mention he didn't even break a sweat from running.
"I don't know this creature Naraku as well as you might," Ryu answered. He sounded weary. Like he wasn;t entirely sure who Naraku was. I could relate.
I sought him from the corner of my eye. Wis tone unsure. "But this smell is very nasty. Not many demons have scents like these, at least not in such a concentration."
"So you can smell like Inuyasha and me," Shippous asked, suddenly surprised. I kept silent, now focusing my gaze ahead on Inuyasha, not wanting to let Ryu know that I was listening.
"Not in the same extent, but yes."
"INUYASHA!"
