A month later and Mac was doing much better. At three months Mac had a small bump that Callen was totally in love with. He spent hours talking to her belly.
"How's my boy doing today?" asked Callen as he kissed his way down her bump.
"He's doing just fine." Said Mac.
"Momma why does daddy keep talking to the baby?" asked Anna.
"Because daddy is crazy."
"I do it because I want your brother to know my voice."
"Did you talk to Clara like that too?"
"Yes I did."
Anna giggled. "Your funny daddy."
Clara walked over holding her favorite stuffed bunny. "Bunny momma."
"That's right that's your bunny."
"Me want bunny."
"Momma she wants a real bunny."
"Anna where did your sister get this idea?" asked Callen.
"Bunica took us to a petting zoo. Clara loved the bunnies the most."
"Bunny." Said Clara again.
Mac looked at Callen. "Ok so we get her a bunny."
"No my mom can get her a bunny. We aren't home enough to take care of one.
"Bunny." Said Clara holding out her stuffed one to Mac.
"Ask your grandmother."
Clara looked at her and said bunny again.
"She's not going to stop till she gets a bunny."
They took Anna to school and Clara to Sara's. She walked up the walk by herself saying bunny over and over again.
"She wants a real bunny." Said Mac.
"Oh."
"Thanks mom."
"Well I'll have to talk to your father."
"You do that; we are late for work."
At work Deeks had to show everyone the newest photos of the puppy. Monty totally loved Bella. It was funny that they looked so much alike.
"You guys really need to get the kids a puppy." Said Deeks.
"Yeah it looks like we're getting a bunny." Said Callen.
"Mom took the girls to a petting zoo and now Clara isn't happy with her stuffed bunny any longer."
"Ok, Kensi note we don't bring the dogs over to Sara's house now."
"Monty tried to kill a bunny at the park a couple months ago."
"He loves cats and small dogs. Has no problem with birds but bunnies yeah he hates them."
The day went fast with Mac working in OPS with Nell and Eric now. At the end of the day Kensi and Deeks decided to take the kids to the beach to play with the dogs.
"Mommy I want to walk Bella." Said Donny.
"Ok but hold on tight."
As soon as Kensi handed Donny the lead Bella spotted a seagull and took off dragging the little boy.
"Deeks do something before Donny gets hurt."
Monty took off after them barking his head off. Deeks nearly fell on the sand trying to catch up to them. Kensi held Lilly and shook her head.
Deeks caught up to Donny only after he let go and fell face first into the sand. He didn't cry but pushed himself up and stuck his bottom lip out.
"Donny you ok little man?"
"I'm fine daddy. Bella wanted to get the bird."
Down the beach Deeks could see Bella jumping up to grab the poor seagull. Monty calmly walked over and grabbed the lead in his mouth and tugged his little sister back to Deeks.
"Good boy Monty."
"Bad doggie Bella." Said Donny.
"Is he ok?"
"Our son takes after you. Gets hurt and doesn't faze him a bit."
Donny had scrapes on his knees hands and cheek but just sat there telling Bella she was a bad dog.
"Donny are you ok?"
"I'm fine mommy." Said Donny pushing himself up off the sand. Lilly was giggling down at her brother.
Kensi pulled out a first aid kit from the diaper bag and cleaned up Donny. He didn't even flinch as his cuts got cleaned.
"Can I go play now mommy?"
"Go on have fun."
Donny took off running towards the water both dogs after him. Deeks went after them to keep an eye on the three. An hour later they had picked up dinner and were headed home. Both kids and dogs fast asleep in the back of the car.
SARA'S HOUSE.
Callen and Mac walked in to find a little brown bunny hopping around and Clara holding another one that was brown and white.
"Mom I said one bunny."
"I know but we had to get Anna one too."
"Bunny momma bunny." Said Clara holding her bunny out to her mom.
"That's a nice bunny Clara."
"I got one too mommy." Anna said scooping her bunny up. "Come on Clara we have to put them in their cage so we can go home."
Clara followed her sister out to the deck where Victor had set up a bunny hutch off to one side. He was filling it with straw.
"We had rabbits for the boys when they were young." Said Victor helping the girls put the bunnies in their new home.
"Thanks dad."
"Don't worry girls the bunnies will be fine here." He put a clip onto the lock to keep it closed.
"By bunny." Said Clara waving at her bunny.
"Did you girls name your bunnies?" asked Mac as she buckled Clara in.
"No momma not yet." Said Anna.
"I hope your grandparents got you both girls. We don't need more bunnies."
Anna giggled. "Can Donny come over and play with the bunnies momma?"
"We'll ask his parents tomorrow but I'm sure he'll like that."
Anna was thrilled. Her and Donny had become very close and loved spending time together. Deeks joked that those two were going to get married someday.
That weekend everyone met up at the beach house for a cookout. Deeks left the dogs at home so the bunnies would be safe. As soon as Deeks and Kensi walked in the door Anna ran over to Donny carrying a little black and white bunny.
"Look what Bunic got you Donny."
Deeks and Kensi looked at each other than down at their son holding the very small bunny.
"Um Victor that was very nice but you didn't have to." Muttered Deeks.
"Yes well Anna was worried that Donny would feel left out so we went back and got him one too."
"Donny the bunny has to live here ok?"
"Ok mommy."
Donny handed Kensi the bunny. "What are you going to name her Donny?" asked Anna.
"What are your bunnies names?"
"Mine is Daisy and Clara's is tulip."
Donny looked up at his bunny and smiled. "Fern."
Deeks totally lost it and had to sit down.
"Oh that's my boy alright."
Kensi looked less than pleased and handed the bunny back. Deeks was still laughing when Callen handed him a beer.
"Deeks I told you I hate that name."
"Yeah well your son and I love it."
Kensi made a face and took a beer off Callen. The kids spent the afternoon playing with their bunnies. Lilly had a blast crawling after the bunnies trying to catch them. The best moment was when one of the bunnies was nose to nose with Lilly. Deeks was lucky to catch a close op of this moment.
That evening the kids had all fallen asleep in front to the tv. Victor sat in the living room with them holding Lilly while she slept so the adults could have some time out on the deck.
"Your brother called yesterday he says that he is enjoying working with Gibbs but doesn't enjoy the head smacks so much."
Mac laughed. "Oh yeah the Gibbs smack." She rubbed the back of her head. "I worked two cases with him years ago and will never forget them."
Callen grimaced. "Yep been there done that."
"I don't get it." Said Deeks. Seconds later Mac Gibbs smacked him. "Oh ok ok I get it."
Kensi laughed.
"Deeks it's like when Kensi would punch you in the arm all the time." Said Callen.
Deeks was rubbing the back of his head. "Not cool sis not cool."
Sara laughed at them all. It was getting dark now so they headed into the house. Anna, Clara and Donny were all passed out on the floor the tv still playing a Disney movie. On the couch Victor was also asleep with Lilly snuggled on his chest.
"Victor wake up." Said Sara.
"I'm awake just resting my eyes."
When he moved Lilly woke up and started to get fussy. Kensi picked her up. "Ok baby girl time to head home. Deeks get your son."
"Yes dear." Deeks lifted Donny into his arms. He never woke up. The boy could sleep thru anything.
"See you guys Monday." Said Kensi.
"So are you staying here tonight or heading home?" asked Sara.
"I think we're heading home. We're going to move Clara into Anna's room and start painting the nursery blue tomorrow."
"Do you want any help?" asked Victor.
"No we're good. I'll do the painting while MacKenna sorts the girls room."
"Well if you need me call."
"Anna, Clara come on girls time to go home."
Anna yawned and stood up. Clara groaned and tried to go back to sleep. Callen had to carry her to the car. The girls slept the entire ride home. Mac sat there and kept her hands on her belly.
"You ok?"
"Yeah just thinking."
"About?"
"How it's going to be crazy with three kids."
"Yes but it's what we wanted." Callen put his hand over onto hers.
"Yes it is." Mac smiled at him in the dark. "But no more."
"Ok three is it."
The next morning Callen moved all the big stuff around first Clara was so excited to share a room with her big sister.
"Momma can I help daddy paint?"
"Ok but put on your ripped shorts and that old tee shirt of your dads first."
"My room." Said Anna sitting on her bed.
"Yes baby your room."
They had gotten Clara a toddler bed that had rails that could be removed as she got bigger. Anna changed and ran across the hall to help her dad. Callen had the windows open and a fan in the door way to keep the smell out of the rest of the house. He had also gotten special paint that was not supposed to smell too bad.
"Momma said I could help." Said Anna. Callen handed her the painters tape and showed her how to mask off the wood work.
Once they had the tape up Callen showed Anna how to put a thin coat on the walls. She took the job very seriously.
"Daddy how long till my brother is here?"
"Well about six months."
"That's a long time."
"Yes it is. But your sister came a month early so you never know."
"I'm glad you brought me home Daddy."
"So am I baby."
By the evening the room was painted and the crib was back in place along with other baby stuff.
"You two did a good job."
Anna stood there with hardly any paint on her. Callen had paint on his face shirt and jeans. Mac hoped their boy took after her and not Callen. That man loved to make messes.
They ordered pizza while Callen and Anna got cleaned up. Mac sat on the couch with Clara. Clara looked at her mom then laid down with her head on her belly.
"Hi baby."
Mac tried not to laugh. Clara was just like her dad.
"Baby hear me?" asked Clara looking up at Mac.
"Of course he can."
"Love you baby."
Month four came without any issues. Mac could finally stand the smell of coffee again but still couldn't drink it. Hetty kept a pot of tea ready for her at work. At home she tried to drink a lot of water and juice.
"My jeans don't fit."
Callen was pulling his boots off after a long day at work.
"Time to get out the stretchy ones."
Mac glared at him. He would never understand how important jeans were to her or Kensi.
"I know, I just don't want too." Mac moved some stuff in the closet and pulled out the box of things she wore when she was carrying Clara. Already she was a few pound heavier.
"Your son is taking up more room then Clara did."
"You have gotten bigger in just the last week."
Callen leaned over and kissed her belly. "Hey little man, don't get too big too fast ok."
Callen was shocked to feel a little flutter under his cheek. "He moved."
"I know I felt it." Mac smiled down at her very excited husband. "Makes it so much more real now."
They both stopped when they heard the doorbell. "I'll get it." Said Callen. "Sam said he might bring us some baby stuff Michelle found tonight."
When Mac didn't hear Sam's voice she went to see who it was. Standing there in her living room was Paris.
"Paris what are you doing here?"
"What I can't stop by and say hi when I'm in town?"
Callen groaned. The last time these two women were in the same room together it didn't end well for Paris.
"So how are you both?'
"Fine."
"Momma can I have a cookie." Anna came running into the living room and stopped dead when she saw Paris.
"Anna say hello to Miss. Sumerskill."
"Hi." Anna said.
"When did you get a kid?"
"We adopted Anna last year." Said Callen.
"Really?"
"Anna get your sister a cookie too."
"Ok momma."
"Sister?" Paris was confused. Mac picked up a framed photo and handed it to her.
"We have Anna and Clara and Christopher is on the way." Mac put her hand on her belly making sure her wedding ring was showing.
"Wow." Paris looked at her then back at the photo. "You guys didn't waste any time."
"No we didn't."
Just then Clara came in a cookie shoved half way into her mouth. Anna stood behind her. Both girls were not sure what to do. They were not used to out siders.
"Paris would you like a beer?" asked Mac.
"Yeah sure." She handed Callen the photo and sat down.
"It's ok girls Paris is a friend." Said Callen.
Neither girl moved.
"Are you both excited to have a baby brother?"
Anna nodded and Clara shoved the rest of the cookie in her mouth.
"Clara looks just like you Callen."
"Yeah but she has her mom's hair." The older Clara got the redder her hair got. "How's Roy doing?"
"Good. He's heading up the old team now."
Mac handed Paris and Callen a beer and sat down on Callen's chair. Clara scrambled up onto her mother's lap.
"How's your overseas posting doing?" asked Mac.
"Was going good till I got shot last year." Paris took a drink of her beer. "I'm on leave till next month."
"Must have been bad?"
"Yeah it was. I died on the table twice."
"Ouch." Said Callen.
Anna was standing as close to her mom as she could. Clara was sitting on Mac's lap watching every move Paris made. Paris looked at each girl then at Mac.
"You don't have a lot of visitors do you?'
"No." Mac said. "They spend most of the time with my parents and brother or the team."
"Momma isn't Paris a city?"
Paris laughed. "It is. I was born in Paris that's why my parents named me after the city."
Anna finally smiled at her. Clara just stared.
"You are a cute one Clara." Said Paris. "You want to come sit on my lap?"
Clara tilted her head to the side and looked at her.
"Go on Clara it's ok." Said Mac. She lifted Clara down and she walked over to Paris and let her pick her up.
"Oh what a pretty little girl." Paris fussed over Clara then looked at Anna. "Anna you sound Romanian am I right?"
"Yes." Anna said.
"Well you're a lucky little girl to have such a great family."
Anna nodded her head.
"Anna's father was a friend of my father's back home. He passed away and Anna didn't have anyone so we went and got her." Mac pulled Anna in close.
"Your Romanian?" asked Paris.
"On my dad's side." Mac smiled over at Paris. When the woman was not trying to seduce her husband she wasn't half bad. "My mom is Russian and English."
Paris looked down to see Clara playing with a wooden bangle on her wrist. She pulled it off and handed it to the little girl.
"Pwetty." Said Clara.
They talked for about an hour before Paris realized Clara was sound asleep in her arms.
"Here I'll take her. It's past her bedtime."
"Oh let me." Paris stood and followed Mac to the girls room. They woke up Clara long enough to get her changed then tucked her in. Clara handed the bracelet back to Paris. "You can keep it Clara." Paris set it down next to the bed.
"Twank you."
"You are very welcome."
Anna came in and got her own PJ's ready. Mac tucked her in then led Paris back to the living room. Callen was on the phone by the time they came back.
"I was offered a job here in LA with Homeland Security. I was thinking about taking it."
"You really want to leave NCIS?"
"I would be training agents and not out in the field. I'm not sure I can handle it anymore." Paris leaned against the kitchen counter and watched Mac clean up a few dishes. "You and Callen look really happy."
"We are." Mac put a hand on her belly. "We've had a few ups and downs but things are good."
"How long till this one shows up?" said Paris pointing to the bump.
"Six more months, but Clara was a month early so who knows." Mac smiled sadly. "I lost a baby early on about six months ago. I keep waiting on something bad to happen."
"I'm sure things will be fine." Paris looked at her and smiled. "I'm sorry we got off on the wrong foot before. Think we can be friends now?"
"I think that would be nice."
"You two playing nice in here?"
"Yes." Said both women at the same time.
"Why do I suddenly feel out numbered?" Callen looked at the two smiling women.
"Because you are." Said Paris. "Well I'm going to head out. I have to call the director in the morning."
"You sure you don't want to stick it out with NCIS. I'm sure we could put in a word with Hetty for you."
"I'm good. I think it's time for a change."
Paris gave them her number and promised to be in touch when she knew more about the new job. Once she left Mac told him that she was taking a job with Homeland.
"So she's sticking around then?"
"Guess so."
"And you're ok with it."
"She wants to be friends."
"As long as she keeps her hands to herself I'm fine." Said Callen.
Mac smirked and pulled Callen in close. "That would be a deal breaker. I plan on keeping my husband all to myself."
