I'm so sorry for being off of this site for so long. I've been going through a lot of hassle in life and it caused me to lose almost all of my passion for writing. I'm finally starting to get that passion back, so you'll hopefully be seeing more uploads from me from now on.

A Truce

The class was a bit of a drag, to say the very least. Janessa honestly wasn't really that fussed about the origin of vampire hunters. She wasn't intending on pissing any of them off, so that was all that mattered in her opinion. Takuma kept trying to make her pay attention, but then his sister would just fix him with a blank stare, and the blonde male would no longer be very interested with making her pay attention. She was bored. Zero had already briefed her about hunters anyway.

Senri poked her in the side, causing her to look at him almost scathingly. Senri was unaffected by this, and offered her one of his pocky. Now that was something that Janessa could befriend the other vampire over. She had a bit of a sweet tooth. Not that she would ever admit that to the blue eyed vampire.

She took the treat and ate it, deciding to actually smile at the other student sweetly as her way of saying thank you. He nodded his head in reply, face as blank as always, before returning his attention back to whatever Yagari was saying.

If Janessa was honest with herself, she could admit that she and Senri could actually get along a lot better than they actually did. And again, if she was honest, if they did start getting along more, they would be able to freak out Takuma. And who didn't enjoy messing around with the sweet and composed blonde?

It wasn't until they were nearing the end of the class when Janessa realised that she was being stared at. She was slightly surprised by the fact that Kaname Kuran kept looking at her, an unusual look on his face that Janessa couldn't quite recognise. It was like he was scrutinizing her. And Janessa really didn't like it. Because that kind of gaze brought up bad memories of when she was trapped, while she was held captive.

Senri nudged her slightly again, and the two continued to share the pocky until the class ended. She was very thankful for the distraction, even though the two of them didn't say a single word to each other through out the whole class. It seemed that the Shiki Heir had a calming presence that a lot of people didn't give him enough credit for.

"Do you know why he's staring at you like that?"

"No."

"Hm."

As they got up to leave, everyone stopped as Kaname spoke, his voice smooth and deep as it cut through the original silence of the room.

"Janessa. I would like to speak with you."

Takuma stiffened at the tone of his friend, and Janessa took his hand for a fraction of a second, a soft smile on her face as she nods at him, before the cold and calculated mask was back in place.

"Go. I'll be fine. You don't have to worry about me."

Takuma hesitated again, glancing at Kaname. The Pureblood Prince didn't move from his seat, didn't seem phased by the conversation that was happening between the Ichijou siblings. The blonde looked back at his sister, before nodding and leaving the classroom where Senri was waiting for him. Janessa turned back to the Vampire sat in his chair. She walked towards him, and leaned on the desk in front of him, crossing her arms.

"Well, Kaname Kuran? You have my full attention. What is it that you want?"

Kaname gave her a soft smile, and once again Janessa felt slightly uneasy.

"I would like to formally apologise to you. I wanted you to settle in before I spoke to you about what was going on."

Janessa kept her expression blank, but she was confused. What did this man have to apologise to her for? She tilted her head to the side, expressing that confusion, and silently telling the Pureblood to explain himself.

"After all, it was my Uncle who abducted and tortured you."

"Ah."

"Indeed. So, as you can imagine, I want to fix the bond between our families. Your parents have already expressed their weariness about you being around me. So, I would like to express that I would never do to you what my Uncle did."

"I knew that already, Kaname-Sama."

"Oh."

"Hm. I know you won't torture me for hours on end to try and harness my powers and then when you realise that you can't wipe my memories and take away my vampiric abilities just to spite me for not submitting to you."

Kaname stared at her blankly for a moment before smiling at her almost sweetly. Which was odd, because Janessa was pretty sure that there was nothing sweet about the Pureblood. But anyway...

"You're right. So, I would like to call a truce."

"Why would we need a truce, Kaname?"

"Because we both want the same thing, Janessa."

Janessa went silent at the comment. She knew exactly what that meant. And she would indeed be lying to herself if she said that she wasn't tempted by the idea that she could be one of the hands to deal the final blow against Rido Kuran. Janessa had to close her eyes as her need for revenge grew, her eyes glowing red. Kaname smirked slightly.

"You know what I'm talking about."

"Of course I did. How could I not? You weren't exactly being subtle, Kaname."

The pureblood chuckled, his eyes closing as he leaned back in his chair.

"Oh, you are absolutely right, of course. We both want my uncle dead."

"Where is he?"

"I was assuming you knew."

Janessa sighed, annoyed and slightly betrayed.

"Of course. My grandfather is hiding him. What else would that scumbag be doing? Hn."

Kaname chuckled once more.

"I have heard rumours that your grandfather willingly gave you to Rido."

"That is true."

"And yet you have not reported him."

"My grandfather is one of the heads of the senate. Who would I report him to? I am just waiting to get my revenge."

"And I will help you. Just as you will be helping me get my own revenge against him."

"So be it. You have my power at your will, Kaname-sama."

He arched an eyebrow at her, and Janessa smiled at him sweetly. It was a fake smile, a scary one, which told the Pureblood that she would not answer any of his questions about her powers. He chuckled.

"You are a mystery, Janessa Ichijou."

She smirked.

"I know."

She wasn't about to tell him about her powers of being able to tell when people are lying, or of her telekinetic powers, or of her elemental powers. Those were her dirty little secret. Well, not dirty. More like special little secret. Takuma was only aware of her telekinetic powers. If it came to it, the only one who wouldn't be surprised would be Rido himself.

Kaname sighed, standing up and and straightening out his uniform, brushing off some imaginary lint. He smiled softly, offering his arm to the Level B vampire heir.

"Very well. We all have our secrets, especially myself. Shall we head to our next class?"

Janessa took his arm, her stoic expression once again back on her face as she nodded.

"Yes."

Well, this was one truce that Janessa would indeed take advantage of.
