I've finished the last two chapters now. This is the first one, I'll try to get the other out later in the week.
It was late, Sam had looked over the notebook Kevin had give us until his eyes bled and decided to go sleep. He hoped if he looked at in the morning with fresh eyes that things might make more sense to him. Dean and I had both tried to make sense of the notebook too, but decided drinking would be more fun; and to be honest we just needed a night to catch our breathe with all the hits we had been taking lately. Dean was sat on the couch with his seventh beer, and I was curled up in the chair with my sixth. We were both reaching that relaxed buzz state of being drunk.
"You think we did the right thing, letting the angels take Kevin back home?" I pondered looking at the notebook on the coffee table. Kevin had made a fast impression on me and I found myself feeling overly protective of him.
"Yeah, yeah. I mean they're the best to watch over the kid." Dean answered as I looked over and met his gaze. There was a glint in his green eyes and I knew that Dean missed the kid around too. I shot him a quick smirk and took a sip of my beer.
"I kinda miss him." I admitted licking my lips. As the beer reached my stomach I realised I was getting close to my limit. I was always careful how much I drank when I was human, I like to remain in control.
"Kevin?" Dean asked scoffing a little before taking a sip of his beer.
"Yeah, he reminded me so much of Doyle..." I sighed sadly as I looked at the bottle in my hands. Thoughts of my baby brother flashed into my minds eye and I felt my heart sink. I just hope he doesn't end up with the same fate. Maybe it is best that Kevin is away from me. I mean Death does like to follow me round, killing those I love.
"Kids tough, he'll be able to handle all this Prophet crap." Dean muttered as I felt his eyes on me. I nodded slowly, hoping - praying Kevin didn't end up the same way Doyle. I felt the frown make its way onto my features again as I studied the label of my bottle in great detail. He's the same age Doyle would have been... So book smart and scared of the real world. So obsessed with doing well and making his parents proud. I wonder, I wonder if Doyle would have been so nervous around people. I wonder if he would have had a girlfriend. How much of his life has he missed out because of me and my curse? God I missed them... please don't let Kevin end up with the same fate... please. "Hey, Megan, look at me." Dean demanded firmly, yet softly. I torn my eyes away from the bottle and looked over to him. Dean had wiggled in his seat so that his was facing me dead on, his green eyes locking on mine as he gave me a reassuring smile. "Kevin isn't Doyle. He's going to be ok." Dean promised me, and the conviction in his words made me believe him.
"I think, ...you are the only man on earth I could believe this crap from Dean Winchester." I chuckled, making Dean burst out in a smile that made my heart race. I couldn't lie I was madly in love with Dean Winchester, for all my sins. I knew how I should feel about him, how pissed off I should be at him. But since the wolf side of me went, since I was human, I knew in my heart there was still love between us.
"Thank you?" He asked, chuckling before taking the final sip from his beer.
"I mean it in a good way." I sighed, but it sounded more like a whine; rolling my eyes I continued. "I just...After all we've been through, it's hard to believe that things can actually turn out ok." I admitted with a sad smile. Truth was, I had given up on happy endings a long time ago. There was always a small part of me waiting for the other shoe to drop.
"Yeah well believe it sister," Dean smirked getting to his feet. I noticed the small wobble as the beer was getting to him too. "You need another one?" He asked waving his empty bottle around.
"Nah, I'm good thanks." I answered as Dean trotted into the kitchen to grab a beer. I'm sat, drinking with my cheating ex husband. Not just sat drinking, talking, laughing, almost believing the words coming out of his mouth! How many ex wives can say that and mean it? I snorted in laughter at the thought, realising my life really was on the weird end of the scale.
"Something funny? Or have you had too much to drink again?" Dean asked cocking an eyebrow as he walked back over to the couch, the smile failing to be hidden on his lips.
"A-Yes I thought of something funny. And B- I haven't been able to get drunk in years, I'm going to enjoy it for as long as this lasts." I replied poking my tongue out before taking another sip of the beer.
"Ok... so what was funny?" Dean asked scooting up the couch so he was at the end closer to me.
"I was just thinking that there is probably a handful of women who could sit getting drunk with their ex-husbands like this." I smirked as I saw Dean look down at his bottle. I saw the hurt flash through his eyes as he tried to hide it from me. "Sorry, I, um I didn't mean that-"
"Stop apologising Megan, it's ok." Dean grunted as he looked back up at me annoyed. "I get it, this is weird and new to me too. I mean you are the only woman that I've hooked up with and still managed to hang around with." Dean admitted with a shrug as he started to pick at the label on his bottle.
"This is a little weird for me too." I sighed pushing the hair out of my face. "I'm just glad we can still hang out." I sighed genuinely meaning it as Dean shot me a quick smile.
"Yeah, me to." He answered before going back to picking the label. We fell into a silence for a few minutes both of us just enjoying the feeling of not being alone. I watched as Dean carefully managed to pull the whole label off his bottle without ripping it.
"You know that's a sign of sexual frustration right?" I joked as Dean's eyes snapped to mine. I felt the heat rise in my cheeks as I realised what I said. "Hey, hey um... so yeah... um... how about... we just forget I said that, huh? Clearly I've had too much to drink tonight!" I blurted nervously as Dean burst out into laughter. I couldn't help myself his rich laughter just invited me to chuckle along too. "Smooth..." I huffed downing some more of my beer.
"The smoothest." Dan chuckled as I just rolled my eyes.
"Thanks." I muttered pouting a little as I crossed my arms over my chest.
"Hey, I'm just agreeing with you sweetheart." Dean chuckled again holding his hands up in defence. I grumbled as I took another sip from my beer and pushed my hair out of my face.
"Urh.. I need to get a hair cut, damn thing keeps falling in front of my eyes." I huffed shaking my head a little as my hair fell round my face framing it again.
"I think it suits you like that... you look hot with long hair." Dean admitted shooting me a sideways glance as he took a sip of his beer. I felt the heat rush into my cheeks as I tried my best to play it cool. The alcohol was having a real effect on both mine and Dean's inhibitions. It was clearly letting the both of us speak with more honesty to the other.
"As I recall, you just loved playing with my long hair." I pointed out as the smirk crossed both mine and Dean's lips.
"You loved me playing with your hair." Dean smirked taking a long look at my face and how the hair fell around. "You always smell like violets and cherry blossom. I never understood how you always manage to smell so sweet." Dean admitted looking away from my face as I saw the ghost of a smile on his face as if he was remembering it.
"It's a gift." I shrugged innocently finishing my beer. "Well... I think that beers going to my head... best call it a night." I suddenly felt quite drunk and started to giggle a little to myself about nothing.
"Ok Jimmy Stewart, you taking the spare bed?" Dean asked putting his beer on the coffee table. I stood up, with every intention to take my empty beer bottle and put it in the bin. I wobbled as I started to walk past the couch. I blinked and the next thing I knew I had fallen into Dean's lap, my legs hanging over the edge of the couch. I burst out into a fit of giggles. "Ok, yeah you've clearly had too much." Dean smirked as I felt his arms wrap under me. It just felt natural to have his arms tuck under me.
"Hey, I am not that drunk, I just fell over." I giggled making Dean roll his eyes at me.
"Lightweight." Dean muttered as I pouted a little.
"We've both drank a pack a beer each... I ain't no lightweight sugar." I stated firmly before bursting out into more giggle.
"Ok. Just, keep it down, you don't want Sammy waking up." Dean sighed, but I could see the smile playing on his lips.
"You don't want Sammy walking in on us like this you mean." I pointed out with that stupid goofy grin plastered on my lips.
"And you do?" Dean asked cocking an eyebrow at me. I paused thinking about it for a moment before shrugging.
"Um... I dunno." I answered smirking like a three year old.
"How about we get you to bed huh?" Dean asked as I felt his arms tense under me. Before I knew it I was held bridal style in Dean's arms. I giggle as I rushed upwards and smirked at Dean.
"I like, again!" I giggled making Dean chuckle.
"No, bed. You... are something else when you're drunk." He chuckled holding me close to his chest. Automatically I wrapped my arms round his neck as he carried me over to the spare room. Resting my head on his chest his scent wrapped around me like a warm safety blanket, one I had forgotten I needed so badly.
"Hey, you think it would be so bad if one day we got back together? I mean like, I know you did some think pretty dumb, but you are pretty. And I really like you, you know?" I asked as he carried me down the corridor.
"I think maybe you shouldn't ask these type of questions when you're drunk." Dean admitted sadly, and I saw the pain in his eyes.
"Maybe I'm only brave enough to ask when I'm drunk." I whispered as Dean opened the door to the bedroom. He carried me in, a frown playing on his lips as he refused to look at me. "I said some think bad huh? Gonna make super awkward in the morning too. I just... I don't understand why things always have to be so complicated between us. I like you. You like me. I just... I miss you." I admitted looking down at my lap. I felt Dean tense under me but my mind didn't make the connection between his actions and my words.
"You're drunk. I'm drunk. Talking about this... it's just... come on let's get you to bed." Dean sighed as he lowered me onto the bed. I let go of his neck and wiggled a little. Dean sat on the edge and brushed a strand of hair off my face.
"Sleep tight." He whispered, his hand lingering on my cheek. I brought my hand up and held his hand in place, savouring his warmth against me.
"Don't let the bed bugs bite." I smiled, moving his hand and placing a soft kiss. "Night Dean." I hummed fighting back the tiredness that was sweeping through my body.
"Night Megan." Dean hummed back, kissing my forehead as I closed my eyes and started to drift into a deep sleep. "I love you..."
I had slept in, I realised that when I woke up facing the clock on the wall. It was around one in the afternoon. Wow... that's a lot of sleep. I blinked rubbing the sleep out of my eyes and yawned as I returned to the land of the living. Looking down at myself, I frowned, scratching my head. I woke up in the same clothes I had been wearing the day before. I stretched, sitting up but I couldn't remember how I got to bed. I knew I had been drinking with Dean, but I just couldn't remember what happened. Please don't say I did something stupid... or embarrassing. I know Dean ALWAYS remembers when he's been drinking... awesome... I groaned knowing all too well Dean would fill me in soon.
"Well no point staying in bed." I grumbled to myself as I made myself get up and grab my towel and fresh clothes from my duffel. I poked my head out of the bedroom door and could hear Dean and Sam talking about Anna Nicole, and decided that was about as much of that conversation that I needed to hear. I ran across the hall to the bathroom and locked the door as soon as I was inside.
"My fortress of solitude... for now." I muttered to myself as I dumped my things on the chair. I walked over to the sink and grabbed the clean bandages. Sitting on the edge of the bath I started to unwrap the bandage around my arm. I lost the sling just after Kevin went, I realised it was holding me back and in the end it could be dangerous if I needed to fight my way out. I looked down at the reddish pink skin and sighed. The bite marks were scarring, and I wasn't sure if my wolf genes were going to kick in soon enough to stop them from being permanent. But they are healing... scar tissue or not. I let out a soft sigh as I cleaned up the skin and put on clean bandages. Once I was sure the bandage as on tight enough I started the shower running. "Thank you Winchesters for not using all the hot water!" I hummed as I climbed into the hot shower, keeping my bandages arm out of the way of the jet stream of water. I closed my eyes as I let the heat work through all my muscles, the steam clearing my mind as I enjoyed my private moment to relax. My mind wondered to the weapon we were about to create and what it meant to me.
We're going to kill Dick, help get Bobby some real revenge and let him move on. He deserves a happy ever after, even if it is in heaven. With Dick dead the leviathans wont know what to do, at least not at first and that's when I hit them. I take out as many of them while they're chasing their tails. I take them out alone. Without Sam. Without Dean. I need to clear my head, I mean really clear it without the Winchesters around. I just need to take off the moment we kill Dick. Keeping my distance from them will let me know how I really feel, how I really feel about Dean and us... I just need space and time. Space and time. "Space and time..." I sighed opening my eyes as the water began to cool.
I got dressed, dried my hair and left it down, for some reason I didn't feel like tying it up. I walked out of the bedroom and headed to the living in. As I walked in I saw Sam, alone looking at his computer screen. He was frowning at the screen as he let out a heavy sigh.
"Morning sunshine." I smirked as Sam looked up over to me.
"Afternoon, how you feeling?" Sam asked as I went and grabbed a cup of coffee. As I walked over to the kitchen I noticed all the beer bottles in the corner near the bin. Shit did we really drink so much? No wonder I can't remember... damn! I sighed shaking my head slowly.
"Actually, really good despite realising just how much I drank last night." I chuckled pouring the coffee into the cup. I had to admit I had one of the best nights sleep I had in a long time.
"Dean said you guys really hit it hard last night." Sam commented absent mindedly.
"Oh? Is that all he said?" I asked pouring in the milk and stirring it up. I felt a knot form in my stomach as I waited to hear what Dean had said. In the very rare occasions I had been human and got drunk with Dean I had always done something stupid Dean couldn't wait to tell Sam about.
"Pretty much." Sam admitted as a smile crossed my lips. "He's actually been pretty quiet on the details. Just said you guys talked about Kevin, the tablet and then headed to bed." Sam shrugged as I turned to face him, the smile on my lips spreading as I felt relived about it all. I let out a small happy sigh and walked over to the table where he sat.
"Good. Good." I muttered sliding myself into the seat next to Sam. I noticed he had Kevin's notebook out and he was searching things on the internet. "Any luck cracking Rosetta Stone meaning?" I asked nodding to the book before taking a sip of the coffee.
"Yeah, I mean we know how to kill Dick..." Sam trailed off with a worried look on his face.
"But?" I asked as he glanced at me. "I mean there is a but here right?" I asked leaning my arms on the table. Sam glanced at my bandaged arm and frowned before meeting my eyes again.
"But," He sighed out. "But Dean doesn't seem bothered that all this has been able to tell us is that Dick will be dead, and the leviathans will flounder. He doesn't care how it all works and if there is a catch to it all. I mean, come on Megan, when has there ever not been a catch to something like this?" Sam asked looking worried just what the rub was going to be this time.
"Sam... he's not dumb. He'll know there's going to be something, some stupid arse cost. I think Dean just... he wants to be over. He wants Dick dead and for Bobby to move on." I explained, glancing at my bandaged arm. I took a deep breathe and looked back up at Sam. "We all want that, right?" I asked softly.
"But at what cost Megan?" Sam asked putting his hand over my left arm. I sighed looking down at my bandage and got a knot in my stomach. Whatever the cost is, maybe this is my turn to take it for the team. I should be the one to take the hit.
We sat looking into Roman and his recent business transactions. Sam was showing me the acquisition of Sucrocorp, a natural corn syrup company. From what I could tell, the corn syrup was used in a wide rang of products from bread to pie.
"Well I'm not tell him about the pie." I sighed out picking up my cup and taking a sip.
"Oh I'm not!" Sam cried out shaking his head as he turned to me with wide eyes.
"News like this should always come from a family member." I joked, smirking over the top of my coffee cup.
"But you two are closer than blood, really it should come from you." Sam joked flashing me a wide smile. I sighed putting my cup down and held my fist over the palm of my other hand.
"Rock, Paper, Scissors?" I asked smirking, wiggling my eyebrows a little.
"How human are you?" Sam asked cocking an eyebrow.
"Ninety-nine percent." I answered without blinking. Sam eyed my hands before slowly copying me. We both beat our fists against our hands three times before calling on it.
"Scissors!"
"Paper!"
"What are you guys doing?" Dean sighed as he walked into the room and went straight to pour himself a drink.
"Nothing." I smirked innocently as Sam played a video on his laptop. "Have fun last night?" I asked cheerily. Dean looked over his shoulder to me, that intense stare he saved for special occasions. I shifted in my seat, frowning a little when all Dean did was study me. "Dean?" I asked softly tilting my head to one side.
"Yeah, yeah I did." Dean beamed before moving out his froze state. "You falling into my lap was my personal highlight." He chuckled as he walked round and sat opposite me and Sam. I just sat there with my mouth open a little in shock, I could feel the heat rising in my cheeks.
"Come again?" I asked blinking a little as Dean winked at me. "Shit." I muttered pulling my cup back to my lips as Sam let out a small chuckle.
"Oh and the lap dance." Dean teased as I felt the heat burn my cheeks.
"I didn't?!" I cried out mortified with my actions. Dean smirked, taking a sip as Sam sat at the side of me with an amused expression on his face. "Oh come on, I mean I didn't right? I wouldn't... I couldn't... I oh god what did I do?!" I cried out folding my arms over my chest and resting my head on them. I felt Sam rub small circles on my back as I cringed to think what I could have done.
"Nah, I'm only messing with you about the lap dance." Dean broke out as I shot my head up.
"Ohthankgod!" I blurted out as he and Sam laughed at me. "I hate not being able to remember..." I sighed pushing some hair out of my face.
"Sucrocorp – eat well, live well." Sam's laptop said as I felt Dean watch me tuck the hair out of my face, there was a ghost of a smile on his lips.
"I am not drinking that much again." I vowed making Sam chuckle from the side of me. I picked up my coffee cup and hugged it against my chest for comfort. We fell into a comfortable silence as I hugged the cup and read Sam's screen.
"Little FYI. Bobby's officing out of the john these days." Dean pipped up as both me and Sam looked over to the older Winchester.
"Uh... awkward." Sam sighed out scratching the back of his neck.
"Super awkward." I muttered crossing my legs under me on the chair.
"Yeah, you're telling me. Uh, he does have some ideas about the weapon, though." Dean explained looking over more to Sam than me. Sam had been the one who had been really working hard on the weapon. He knew what we needed and was trying to figure out just how we were going to get it.
"Really? Well, uh, he may be just in time." Sam explained as he turned to his laptop so that Dean could see what we had been reading.
"Roman acquires... What's Sucrocorp?" Dean asked looking up from the laptop to the pair of us. I glanced at Sam and shrugged my shoulders sighing a little.
"They make food additives, namely high-fructose corn syrup. That crap is in – well, it's in just about everything – um, soda, sauces, bread." Sam explained as Deans eyes scanned the page again.
"Don't say pie." Dean almost demanded as Sam turned to me. I bit the side of my lip and shrugged my shoulders ever so slightly.
"I'm really sorry Dean, but it is most definitely in pie." I explained bracing myself for the explosion that would be Dean.
"Bastards!" Dean cried out and I fought with everything I had not to laugh at how upset he looked. "So now what? Roman's moved past restaurants?" Dean asked working through his shock and pain.
"And into grocery stores, Gas n' Sips, vending machines." Sam explained with a sigh.
"Let's just say anywhere you would eat Dean, it's going to be a no go soon." I admitted throwing him a sad smile.
"What can we do about it?" Dean asked, and there was a glint in his eyes, some hope that he could save his precious pie. I traded looks with Sam and shrugged, I honestly wasn't sure what we could do to save pie and the rest of the world.
"Short of going Al Qaeda on their trucks and plants, there's nothing we can do about it." Sam admitted with a small sigh as he looked over to his big brother. Suddenly Sam's laptop snapped shut making all three of us jump slightly.
"Like I said, uh, Bobby's got some ideas." Dean sighed looking worried about Bobby's sudden anger issues.
Dean explained to us that Bobby's idea was to get Crowley's blood and the blood of an Alpha. He said that these would be the easier parts of the spell to collect but I didn't like it. I thought it sounded like a really bad idea. In the history of Winchester ideas... this was up there if accidentally starting the apocalypse.
"So you want me to A- trust Crowley, and B- hope there's an Alpha out there willing to let us bleed him?" I asked shaking my head as Dean drew symbols in chalk on the table.
"Look Megan, what other option do we have here?" Dean sighed out as he looked up at me. I shook my head as Dean went back to drawing the symbols.
"Let's ignore Crowley for a second and focus on the Alpha issue. Dean there are zero Alphas running round in the wild. Ok, zero. Cass killed everyone in that... that prison Crowley had us in. And you killed..." Even now I found it hard to say that son of a bitches name. Dean glanced up at me as I balled my hands us. Dean looked hurt, worried and furious all at the same time as I shivered remembering what that bastard put me through. "You killed Luke." I whispered out feeling like a victim again just saying his name.
"Megan you ok?" Dean asked frowning as I couldn't even look into his eyes. I wrapped my arms across my body and nodded a little.
"I'm ok. I just... I'll never be able to forget..." I pushed the hair out of my face as I gathered my thoughts. Get back on track O'Connor! Focus on the problem at hand, not the past. "I can't see how this can work Dean." I admitted looking at the symbols on the table.
"Maybe some of the Alphas escaped like he did. For all we know there could be some out there and Crowley might be able to hand them over to us." Dean grunted as I glanced over to him. He was busy writing the symbols in chalk to see me watching him, but I could see deep down he thought dealing with Crowley wasn't the best idea.
"Maybe he does, ok but it's Crowley! I know you don't think he's the problem this year Dean... But damn it, I think Meg was right! Crowley always screws you over! You taught me that Dean!" I snapped walking over to him and taking the chalk out of his hand.
"Give me that back." Dean asked dryly holding his hand out to me.
"Not until you realise this is a really, really bad idea Winchester." I said holding onto the chalk.
"He wants Dick dead as much as we do. He wont screw us on this." Dean explained still holding his hand out for the chalk.
"You don't get it Dean. Doesn't matter what Crowley says, he's always working an angle. Trust me, he gives with the left and takes with the right." I scoffed out trying my hardest to show Dean this was a terrible idea.
"How come you've become an expert on him all of a sudden?" Dean asked folding his arms over his chest as he just stood there studying me.
"I just am." I huffed looking away from Dean as I remembered the deal I nearly made.
"Oh ok, I'm really going to believe that." Dean scoffed out sarcastically.
"Can't you trust me on this one?" I asked looking into Dean's eyes. We paused, just standing there looking into each others eyes. I needed him to realise that Crowley was going to screw us over on this, and we needed to be ready for when that happened.
"Megan." Dean sighed out, pinching the bridge of his nose.
"Dean please, trust me on this." I begged, hoping that he would understand.
"This isn't about trust Megan. What happened between the pair of you?" Dean asked holding that damn, drill into your soul stare with me. I looked into his emerald orbs and found myself breaking down, yet again.
"Nothing." I huffed looking away from his intense stare.
"You're a terrible liar." Dean sighed out as I found myself looking into his eyes again, a small smile resting on his face.
"Only with you." I admitted returning the smile.
"What happened?" Dean asked softly, his arms dropping by his side.
"He... he gave me a case a couple of months ago..." I waited for Dean's reaction. He just cocked his eyebrow as he waited for me to continue. I took a deep breathe and went on. "I thought it was a good idea. Beat the shit out something, feel better over um..." I looked away as Dean nodded knowing I was talking about us. "He tricked me. It was a trap." I admitted feeling ashamed of myself. "I was so focused on the killing, that I let it all blur around me. I didn't realise what was happening until it was almost too late." I paused as I saw Dean's whole body tensed in the way he did when he was being protective of Sam. "I, um... I fought a Siren Crossroads Demon good old Eve made. She... I was intoxicated by her and I hurt so freaking bad, I couldn't escape the pain." I felt a lump form in my throat. "I need you to realise Dean, I've never felt heartache like this before. I never felt so hurt by someone before." I glanced into his eyes before looking back at the chalk in my hands. "I was this close to making a deal..." I paused, biting down on my lip as I felt tears stinging my eyes. I blinked them away and took a deep breath, realising I was about to explain the worst bit to Dean.
"What was the deal? Megan?" Dean asked as I blinked away the tears and looked up at him feeling so damn guilty. I shot him the saddest smile before looking at the chalk in my hands.
"You dead for my soul." I paused shaking my head. "She promised all the pain would go. Just like that. No more heartache..." I admitted looking to the floor and feeling as guilty as hell.
"What?" Dean's voice was just above a whisper and that one word held more rage than any I had heard come from Dean's mouth in a long time. I snapped my wide eyes up and pushed away the tears that threatened to overtake me.
"Dean... I hurt-" I started to say when he cut me off.
"You nearly sold your soul... because of me?" Dean asked, his words sharp and forced through a wave of pain and anger.
"I wanted the pain to stop... I... I didn't know how else to make it stop. It was crushing me. Killing me. I couldn't see a way out, a way to escape it all." I tried to explain as I felt the tears roll down my cheeks. I was looking straight into his emerald green eyes as I begged for him to understand, begged for his forgiveness.
"And selling your soul was the only way to get over me?" Dean asked as I saw his jaw flex. I shifted the weight under my feet as I shook my head.
"I didn't! I was snapped out of it in the nick of time." I cried out, brushing the tears away with the back of my hand. "Please, Dean. Point is. Crowley set up the hunt. Said he wanted to be a friend. After the hunt he told me it was his back up for me to turn into a demon. He always has another plan, some other way to screw you." I explained looking up at the stone expression. Dean had pulled his walls up again, I saw his jaw flex but he wasn't going to say one word to me. I put the chalk on the table. "This is a really bad idea Dean, just keep your eyes open, please?" I begged softly before walking out of the cabin to get some air.
I was sat out on my Camero hood, my head resting on my knee as I couldn't shake the feeling that is was all going to end so badly. That Crowley would yet again pull some crap on all of us and screw us over. I hoped that telling Dean the truth, letting him know how badly I nearly screwed up would at least make him keep his eyes open when he was talking to Crowley. But in all honesty I think I just pissed him off more. It was one thing to know I was hurting but I think Dean finding out I nearly sold my soul to escaped the pain... yeah that was something completely different.
"Now isn't that the expression of someone with the world on her shoulders." I heard Crowley's voice and snapped my head up, glaring at the bastard.
"You showed." I huffed standing up from the car.
"Of course I showed Love. But you," He chuckled pointing a finger at me. "You here with Moose and Squirrel, after everything he did to you?" Crowley asked walking closer to me. I knew there was no where to back up, so I just held firm. I stared the bastard straight in the eyes as his smirk grew. "That's ballsy. I don't know how you stand to be around the guy." Crowley shrugged as he watched me closely for any tell.
"That is none of your business." I growled holding my ground.
"But it is." He chuckled looking straight into my eyes. "See you and Squirrel make such an interesting power couple... but apart you could be so much more."
"I told you before Crowley, I'm not your friend... I'm not your pet and I am not going to let you play them." I ground out the words as I glared into his smug face. Crowley tucked a finger under my chin and forced me to look into his eyes. He let out a satisfied grunt as I pulled my head back.
"You might be all but human right now sweetheart, but trust me, that pain is still there. Only a matter of time before it comes rushing back. Broken hearts often have a way of showing back up at the worst times." Crowley laughed before disappearing right in front of my eyes. I blew the air out of my cheeks as I fell back against my baby. I ran a hand through my hair as I thought about what Crowley had just said to me. I didn't know if it was a threat or a promise but I didn't like it either way. This is a bad idea...
I blinked and found myself stood in the middle of the cabin in between Dean and Crowley. Dean and Sam looked as surprised as I did, but Crowley had a smug grin on his lips.
"I've got to say, I'm surprised to find this one hanging around you two." Crowley spoke as I turned and glared at him.
"Bite me." I grunted as I looked away from him.
"You know you broke her heart, right Squirrel?" Crowley asked amused with the situation. I felt Dean's eyes dart to me before he turned his attention to Crowley. I bowed my head, but glared at the demon as I watched him lap it all up.
"We didn't bring you here for this-" Sam started to say when Crowley simply raised his hand.
"Not now Moose. I think Dean here needs to realise just how badly he hurt sweet little Megan." Crowley hushed Sam as he turned to his older brother.
"Crowley no." I growled shaking my head.
"Crowley, yes." He replied looking into my eyes, and I swear for a fraction of a second he looked protective of me. His eyes darted to Dean behind me as my stomach dropped. "Do you know she nearly sold her soul to get away from the pain?" Crowley asked smugly as I turned to Sam and Dean. Sam looked at me utterly surprised but Dean was glaring at Crowley with so much hatred in his eyes.
"What?" Sam asked in disbelief looking between everyone.
"Yeah, she nearly sold her soul for a chance to get away from the pain your numb nuts of brother gave her." Crowley continued his eyes never leaving Deans. There was a venom in Crowley's words, one I hadn't heard before. "Now I don't know about you, but that tells me things. That tells me just how badly Dean broke her heart. How much betrayal, heartbreak poor sweet little Megan must be feeling. How utterly soul crushing it is to see the one person you whole hearty love in the universe, destroy you."
"Stop. Just stop Crowley." I snapped turning to face the demon fully. "Please... just stop." I begged him as I felt conflicted. Crowley was speaking the truth of how badly Dean had hurt me, but at the same time I wasn't sure I wanted the boys to know the full truth.
"He broke your bloody heart! He destroyed you! And now what? You're here playing happy families with him again?!" Crowley snapped at me as I took a step back from him. "You just love being hurt?! What the hell is wrong with you?! You and I both know the moment your wolf side returns that heart ache is going to kill you." Crowley explained almost sounding like a real friend. Almost sounding like he cared about me. "And we both know that isn't a bloody metaphor. It. Will. Kill. You." Crowley ground out the words as I looked to the floor. I didn't know what to say, how to react. Deep down, I knew Crowley was speaking the truth, but I just froze, scared to death of the truth.
"We didn't bring you here for this Crowley." Sam butted in again walking to the side of me. I think Sam didn't believe him.
"Fine," Crowley sighed like a three year old. "What do you want Moose?" He asked as Sam started to explain the tablet. I turned and glanced at Dean. His jaw was set firm and I saw the fire burning in his eyes as he glared at Crowley. As Dean noticed me watching him, he blinked and a sadness washed over his expression, he was starting to realise just how badly our break up was affecting me.
"I'm sorry." I mouthed the words as Dean looked to the floor. I turned back to Sam and Crowley and listened as they talked about the tablet.
"So, that's what all the rumble, rumble was about. Who translated it for you?" Crowley asked snapping Dean out of his thoughts.
"Never mind. You gonna give us the blood or not?" Dean snapped walking to stand the other side of me. He was completely focused on Crowley. Crowley paused looking at all three of us for a moment. When his eyes landed on me, I noticed the small disappointed frown on his face. I looked at the bandage on my arm instead.
"Happily. But not quite yet. I'm all for chopping Dick, but I can't have you running around with a vial of my blood, now, can I? You know the sheer number of nefarious spells my enemies can use that blood for?" He finally answered as I looked up.
"Well, then when?" Dean snapped, clearly annoyed with Crowley.
"Last. After you've got all the other components. Most difficult, the angel part, I'm assuming." Crowley paused looking at all three of us with a cocked eyebrow. I noticed Dean look to me and Sam. Both me and Sam held perfect poker faces, but I wondered if Dean had just given away Cass or not. "Given your role in their little apocalypse, I can't imagine the choirboys upstairs are wetting their vestments to do you – what's the word? – a solid. Unless, of course, you have an angel up your sleeve." Crowley continued as he turned back to face Dean.
"Well, that'd be convenient, but, uh, no." Dean sighed shaking his head a little.
"Don't worry about it. We'll get the angel blood one way or another. We just need you to be ready next time we call." Sam barked, butting in.
"Fine. Oh, here's a tip. I have it on good authority there's one Alpha still among us." Crowley smirked, enjoying the look of surprise on all our faces.
"Whose authority?" Dean scoffed.
"Mine. Wily character, that Alpha vampire. Somehow made good his prison break before Cass went nuclear on the place." Crowley explained plainly.
"You want to share with the class how you know this?" I asked folding my arms over my chest.
"Keep your friends close, your enemies, blah blah. Needless to say, I keep tabs. He moves around quite a bit. But I have an inkling I know where to start the Easter-egg hunt. Happy trails." Crowley explained looking straight into my eyes before vanishing.
"Okay. Where, jackass?!" Dean yelled as we all turned to face each other. Suddenly flames appeared on the table behind us. As they started to go out it looked words had been carved into the wood.
"Hoople, North Dakota." Sam scoffed looking at the table.
"Piece of paper would have worked." Dean huffed shaking his head before walking away to grab his things.
I walked out of the cabin to grab my things from my baby. I heard Sam fallowing me and let out a small sigh. "We're not talking about this Sam." I sighed reaching the boot and turning to face the puppy dog expression.
"You nearly sold your soul, you realise how big this is, right?" Sam asked shaking his head. "Megan, we need to talk about this." He added firmly, his eyebrows furrowing together in worry.
"No we don't. I told Dean, he knew before Crowley said anything. That's it." I huffed turning and unlocking my boot.
"Dean knows? What... what did he say?" Sam asked still throwing me those puppy dog eyes despite the surprise on his face.
"He didn't." I muttered reaching into my boot, grabbing my bags. "He... he hasn't talk to me since... barely looked at me..." I sighed sadly, running a hand through my hair.
"Megan, I can't being to imagine how much pain you must be in to consider selling your soul-" Sam started as he lent on the back bumper.
"Sam! Look, I didn't do it. Ok? And right now..." I blew the air out of my cheeks as I turned to him. "I've got too much too deal with ok? I have working my ex husband, being human, leviathans and Dick, Bobby, Cass and Meg, and, and now Crowley acting like my BFF for some troubling reason! I don't have time to deal with this ok? I don't have time to deal with how screwed up your cheating brother made me!" I snapped grabbing my things out of the boot. "I'm human, and while that's the case I can function." I huffed slamming the boot down hard.
"You shouldn't have to just function... Megan please talk to me about this. I'm worried about you." Sam pleaded, grabbing my arm. I looked to his hold and then back to his eyes shaking my head.
"I can't talk to you about it Sam... you're too close to it all. I'm fine. I can work and when the works done I'll be gone and sorting it all out on my own." I sighed pulling my arm free and walking back into the cabin.
"If you live that long." Sam called out after me, making me stop in my tracks. I heard him walk over to me. "Crowley said it's going to kill you-"
"How many people have you heard of that's died of a real broken heart? Huh? Zero, because it just doesn't happen. He's just trying to scare us ok?" I snapped as Sam walked round to face me, again that worried furrow plastered on his face.
"And if he's not lying about this one?" Sam asked throwing the puppy dog eyes at me full force. Then Sammy... I die.
"He's lying Sam. It's Crowley." I lied like a pro walking past him and straight into the cabin. My heart racing at the thought that Crowley could be right.
Dean drove us to Hoople, it didn't take us too long to get there. I caught Sam watching both me and Dean a couple of times, always frowning as he thought about something. I knew exactly what he was thinking about but both me and Dean really didn't want to talk about it. By the time we reached a Gas'N'Sip Sam had given up with the looks and we were just chatting about things. Dean pulled in for gas as we all got out of the car. I lent on the boot as Sam lent on the passenger side while Dean filled her up.
"Hey." Sam called out getting both our attentions as he make the hand motion for drinking. Dean took the flash out and tossed it in the car before hanging up the gas pump. I hopped off the boot and we started to head inside the shop. "He seem angry?" Sam asked as we walked.
"Angry? Of course he's angry. If you were Bobby, wouldn't you be?" Dean scoffed shaking his head as he looked at the pair of us. I bit my lip nervously as I looked over to Sam. By Sam's expression he was thinking the same thing.
"But was he showing signs of fatigue, like – like fritzing?" Sam asked as I looked up at the older Winchester.
"No, actually, it was just the opposite. He said he never felt stronger." Dean answered as both me and Sam shared another worried frown.
"This is not good..." I sighed stuffing my hand into my pockets.
"That's what we were afraid of." Sam added as he held the door for all three of us to walk into the Gas'N'Sip. Dean turned to the pair of us slightly confused. "The stronger he gets, the closer he comes to going full vengeful spirit. That's reality. We need to talk about what we're going to do with him." Sam sighed as he and Dean picket up baskets.
"Do with him?" Dean asked looking surprised, he looked from Sam to me.
"Dean, we need a plan B in case Bobby goes..." I sighed looking away from him as we walked down different sides of an aisle.
"Megan's right Dean." Sam sighed as he walked down the same side as me.
"Three weeks ago, you were – you were talking how this could work. And now – now you want to go Kevorkian on his ass?" Dean scoffed out as we all looked at the food.
"I'm just saying that the lore doesn't have a single real-life example of Casper the Friendly Ghost. It's all basically poltergeists until a hunter comes along..." Sam sighed as he looked at some food.
"Yeah, well, the lore sucks." Dean sighed as I looked up and met his gaze. I offered him a sad smile before looking away from him.
"I just think we need a back up plan. I don't want him to go either but if he gets dangerous..." I sighed hating myself for even saying those words. I was talking about a man who was like a father to me. A man I loved as much as my own father.
"We're talking pure hatred, Dean. No humanity. I mean, he could... kill... possess people. I mean, Bobby could burn this friggin' building down. Look, if he goes off the rails-" Sam was full on ranting at Dean about the dangers of Bobby, but the reality was that we all knew the danger Bobby could become.
"Hey." Dean cried out, cutting his brother off and getting my attention.
"What?" Sam asked confused.
"Check out that guy over there. He seem a little out of it to you?" Dean asked pointing behind me and Sam. We both looked over our shoulders to a guy who was pumping nearly the whole thing of mustard onto his hot dog.
"I-I don't know. Maybe." Sam shrugged as we turned back to face Dean.
"I put that much mustard on mine." I pointed out with a shrug.
"Yeah, but you're already strange." Dean huffed before glancing over his shoulder. "What about Paula Deen over here?" Dean asked as we looked at a older woman who was staring into the beer fridge, just day dreaming.
"Yeah, they – they look like, uh..." Sam started to say as we all took a really good look at the people around us. They all looked stoned and my stomach dropped knowing why. "…like those Turducken people."
"Son of a bitch is already starting." I sighed as both me and Sam picked up a couple of packaged items and read the ingredients. "It's the corn syrup." I sighed looking over to Sam.
"Everything in the store is laced with it." Sam confirmed grimly.
"Everything?!" Dean cried out, with wide eyes as we looked over to him. "Hey, man, I'm gonna go into toxic shock, okay? I-I... I need my road food!" Dean started to panic.
"That's what Roman is banking on." Sam sighed as both tried our best not to laugh at Dean and the utter panic attack he was having.
"Hey. Hey." Dean cried out holding up a pie. "This one says natural. Th-th-that means it's safe. Right?!" Dean was practically begging us to agree with him. Sam took the pie off him and put it back on the shelf as he glanced at me. I felt Dean's eyes snap to mine.
"Dean," I said softly. "Um technically corn syrup is one hundred percent natural... sorry."
"Well, then what the hell are we supposed to eat?" Dean cried out looking at the pair of us for help. Sam held up his basket with the bottled water and bananas in it. Dean looked like he was about to die from the shock.
After getting Dean past the initial shock of no road food, we hit the road and headed to the house Crowley had pointed out to us. I still didn't trust Crowley, I knew he had to have a angle he was working, he had to have something he wasn't telling us. I couldn't shake the uneasy feeling in my stomach as we sat watching the house for any signs of life.
"It's totally dark. I can't see inside." Dean sighed as he looked through some binoculars. Bobby appeared at the side of me as we all peered into the darken house.
"Well, should we wait for daylight?" Sam asked, glancing at all three of us.
"Hell no, we're not waiting. I'll scout it. See if we need to bring in the big guns." Bobby grumbled looking straight at the house.
"I don't know." Sam hummed as Bobby flicker and disappeared. "Look, Bobby-"
"Sam, he's gone." I sighed as the boys turned round to find me sat alone on the back seat. We all shared a collective sigh as we turned our attention back to the house.
"Okay. Place is clear. But there's something you're gonna want to see." Bobby explained appearing in the seat next to me again. We broke into the house and started to clear the rooms as we went. Bobby lead us through the house to a large dinning room. Me, Sam and Dean all had out machetes out, ready for whatever might have jumped out at us. As we walked into the dinning room we noticed three bodies are laid out on a table.
"Careful." Dean warned as he walked over to one of the bodies. I walked over to another and noticed the burn marks round the mouth and neck of the vampire. I looked up and saw Dean checking out the vampire in front of me, I glanced at the one in front of him and noticed they looked identical in how they died.
"You know a way to kill vamps with battery acid?" Dean asked as Sam and Bobby looked at the bodies as confused as me and Dean were.
"Only way I know is beheading." Bobby answered as I took a closer look at the body in front of me.
"Well, something didn't agree with them." Sam sighed as I reached out and touched the burnt skin and blood round one of the vampires mouth. As soon as my finger made contact I felt a red hot burning sensation flare up.
"Shit! Shit, shit shit!" I cried out in pain as I felt a burning sensation in my finger. My finger felt like it was on fire as I felt heat radiate off it.
"Wha- Hey you ok?" Dean cried out as he rushed over to the side of me, looking worried. I looked down at the blister that formed on the end of my finger. The whole end of my finger was swelling in a bright red blister, the pain was unbelievable for such a small area.
"Yeah, um, sure.. just burns a lot." I hissed looking down at my finger. Dean took my hand and took a closer look. I watched as he moved my hand in the light, his green eyes taking in every detail, making sure that I was actually going to be ok.
"Yeah, it burnt you alright." He huffed as he looked up at me confused and then the guys.
"What the hell is that?" Bobby asked looking at my blistering finger. I shook my head, utterly confused about what had happened.
"I don't know, but it smarts a little." I muttered taking my hand back and sighing.
"Just... don't touch the vampires again, ok?" Dean asked looking down at me with a frown.
"Don't need to tell me twice." I hummed looking over to the bodies and wondering what the hell was wrong with them.
"Hey. Check out that wall. Something seem weird to you?" Sam asked pointing to the wall at the far end of the room. As we all turned to look at the wall, there was a panel that was just the wrong shade of brown to match. It was clear there was a hidden door behind.
"Yeah, see if you can find a switch or a lever or something." Dean added as we all moved to the wall and felt around for some hidden scooby-doo style switch.
"Don't need one." Bobby muttered as he walked through the wall into the next room. All three of us continued to look for a way to open the door. I was pushing on the different coloured wood, in case it was pressure sensitive. Dean was to the left of me looking at the next wall for a switch as Sam studied the bookcase for a fake book, or level.
"Hey." Sam spoke up, grabbing our attention as he held up half a book called How to Serve Man, behind it was a small switch. As Sam hit the button double doors in front of me opened and my heart stopped. A young woman rushed to her feet as she saw us standing there. She was holding a teddy bear and wearing a bright floral pink nightgown. She was clutching the teddy for dear life as she backed away towards the mantelpiece. I took a quick glance around the room, it was decorated like a little girls room, all pink and fluffy. My eyes landed on Bobby who was frowning at the poor scared woman.
"Guys. Machete." Sam muttered as we all sheathed our machetes. I offered the frightened girl a small warm smile as she looked at all three of us terrified.
"Hey. Look. We're not gonna hurt you. Okay?" Dean explained in a soft tone. "No fangs. See?" He added showing her his teeth in the oddest way ever. I fought to roll my eyes at him, sometimes he was just... an idiot.
"We just want to talk." Sam added throwing her the famous Winchester Puppy Dog look.
"Everything is going to be ok, you're safe." I added with a warm smile as she landed her eyes back on me.
We got her a warm drink and Dean gave her his jacket to keep her warm as she explained what had happened to her. She told us her name was Emily and as she talked I couldn't help but think how young she looked and how horrible it must have been to be locked away like she had been.
"I was 8. My mom left me at the playground while she ran to the store. A man approached me and said I was the prettiest girl there. And I've been living with these... things... ever since. At least until now." Emily explained as she glanced between the three of us.
"Do you have any idea why?" Sam asked as I ran a hand through my hair. I just couldn't believe how horrible this poor girls life had been.
"I'm one of his special girls. All the others, it was their job to make sure I was ready for the Alpha, whenever he came. Wash me... give me my IV bags every day." She explained, taking a sip of her drink.
"IV bags?" I asked confused, but my stomach dropped like I knew I wasn't going to like the answer.
"It's my only food. So my blood's pure." Emily explained as if it was just another average day, talking about what she did like normal people.
"They've been doing this for, what, 12 years?" Dean asked folding his arms over his chest. None of us could believe it, wanted to believe what this poor kid had been put through.
"Virgins are a delicacy. He always has at least one of us on hand." She explained as her voice shook a little.
"Well, don't worry, okay? We're gonna get you back to your mother." Sam tried to reassure her with a warm smile.
"Think she remembers me?" Emily asked almost scared of the answer.
"Of course she does. Don't you remember her?" I asked softly, giving her a warm smile of my own. The girl just shook her head in response. We all glanced at each other with a worried expression. I couldn't imagine not knowing what my mother looked like. This young woman had been held captive nearly her whole life. It hurt to think she wouldn't recognise her own mother if they walked past each other on the street.
"Hey, these, uh... these guys," Dean spoke up pointing to the dead vampires on the table. "They, uh, friends of yours?" Dean asked looking back over to the woman.
"They take care of the Alpha when he's here. Or did." Emily explained looking into her cup.
"What happened to them?" Sam asked softly as I noticed her hug the cup closer to her body.
"A week ago, they came back from what they said was an easy hunt. Three humans just came, didn't put up any fight. But when they started on them, the vampires screamed in pain. The ones who ate died immediately." Emily explained, her eyes darting over to the dead bodies now and again as she spoke.
"And the ones who didn't?" Sam asked leaning forward in his seat.
"There was only one. When he saw what happened, he moved to animals. He's out hunting as we speak." She explained softly, nodding her head to the exit. I paused and looked between Sam and Bobby before turning to Dean. This whole case was just not adding up.
"Never heard of vamps being allergic to humans before." Dean sighed running a hand over his face.
"I'm not sure we can just say vamps having the issue." I added glancing to my swollen red finger.
"You think maybe it's the corn syrup? I mean, think about it. The Gas n' Sip was lousy with stoners. All ripe for the picking." Sam tried to explain looking between all the hunters in the room.
"She did say it was an easy hunt." I added with a small shrug. If the corn syrup was laced, and because I had a reaction to it, it would be safe to say we had stumbled onto Dick's master plan for the monsters.
"Do you know where the Alpha is now?" Sam asked turning his attention to the young woman.
"I don't know. Maybe. He has a place he goes when something's wrong. He calls it his retreat." She explained, looking confused. Sam pulled his phone out and I noticed the young woman cock her head to one side.
"All right." Sam nodded loading up GPS on his phone.
"What is that?" The young woman asked confused looking at the phone.
"That's, uh, that's Sam's douche tracker. Helps us find the Alpha. All we needs an address." Dean explained with a nod, I hid the smirk playing on my lips as I shook my head.
"I don't know. But I remember things that maybe can help." Emily said nervously, looking between all of us to make sure she wasn't in trouble.
"That's okay. Just do the best you can." Sam replied with his puppy dog smile.
We made sure Emily was ok to travel and decided to take her during the day to help us find out where the Alpha was hiding. We drove into town when Sam suggested we get some food for Emily and ourselves. We went to a local supermarket and Sam picked out a bag of fresh fruit and vegetables. The whole trip round the store Dean constantly gave me and Sam dirty looks for not letting him pick the food he wanted. The food laced with corn syrup. As we walked out of the store Dean finally voiced his issues- like a three year old.
"I can't do this, man. I can't live on rabbit food. I'm – I'm a warrior." Dean pouted as we walked down the store steps.
"Dean, you'll be fine." Sam replied reassuringly.
"You don't know that." Dean cried out, pouting like a three year old.
"Seriously, it's not going to kill you Dean." I sighed rolling my eyes as I bit into my apple.
"I can feel myself already going into toxic shock." Dean replied as I chewed on my apple.
"Uh huh." I hummed tilting my head to one side.
"Seriously, we need to fix this... I'm... I'm not sure how long I can last." Dean added genuinely looking like he was going to die if he had to eat fruit or veg.
"Well if you keep whining, not much longer." I added with a sarcastic smile before taking another bite out of my apple. Dean looked at me surprised, his mouth opening to reply when Sam spoke up.
"So what's next on the list?" Sam butted in looking between me and Dean. Dean was still staring at me, but I could see the smirk fighting to break free. I shot Dean another smirk before looking over to Sam, smiling sweetly.
"Well, if we're bum-rushing the Alpha, then we're gonna need dead man's blood, which means a morgue. Or..." Dean answered as he stopped walking.
"Or what?" Sam asked as both me and him stopped and turned back on Dean. Dean was looking at a chubby guy sat on a bench near by just drinking from a large slushi cup.
"Oh no..." I sighed out, shaking my head a little.
"Guys, forget the morgue. We are swimming in vamp poison." Dean explained as we all looked at the guy on the bench. In fairness he did look like the stoner's from the store before. I turned to Sam with a questioning look asking if we were really going to do this. Sam shrugged his shoulders as we walked over to the guy.
"Excuse me, sir. Hi. We, uh, we're with the... Red Cross? See, we have an emergency shortage." Sam explained, grabbing his badge and flashing it to the guard. "And we're gonna need you to..."
"Sam... E.T isn't phoning home." I replied looking at the guy who was just vacantly staring at Sam.
"Yeah. You're not getting a word I'm saying, are you?" Sam added with a sigh as he looked to me and Dean for help. I just shrugged my shoulders, taking another bite of my apple.
"Hey." Dean called out clicking his fingers in front of the guys face getting his attention before sitting down next to him. "Hold out your arm. We need your blood." Dean explained plainly.
"Dude!" Both me and Sam called out at the same time looking around for anyone watching us. But to my surprise the guy held his arm out.
"All right, Sam." Dean smirked, reaching into his pocket and pulling out a needle. He passed it over to Sam grinning like an idiot. "Tap the keg."
"Here?" Sam cried out surprised as he looked at his big brother.
"Yeah, Sam, look around. It's friggin' Woodstock. Everybody's hopped up on the brown acid. We don't need the song and dance. Give him a little prick." Dean smirked wiggling the needle in his hand. Sam turned to me as I nodded a little.
"Dean's right Sam. I'm pretty sure I could wolf out and no one would bat an eyelid." I sighed as Sam took the need and sat the other side of the chubby man. Dean put his arm along the back of the bench and smiled at the chubby guy. Sam grabbed his hand, finding a vein before pushing the needle into the back of his hand.
"Oww! That hurts." The chubby guy said slowly as Sam looked between me and Dean. Before we could say anything the chubby guy turned his attention to Dean. "This is for Hurricane Katrina, you said?" He asked slowly, like he was stoned.
"Yes. Yes, I did." Dean nodded totally agreeing with the guy.
"So, look, uh... When we get there..." Sam let his sentence die off as his eyes locked with mine, then Deans. I realised he was talking about Bobby.
"Yeah?" Dean asked plainly. Sam glanced over to the car where Emily sat in the back seat.
"Bobby's gonna have to hang back. Do you disagree?" Sam asked looking between the pair of us.
"He ain't gonna like it. I mean, he helped us in getting Emily." Dean grumbled as he turned back to us.
"He did, but we're sitting on a ticking bomb. He's just itching to get his hands on some action like back at Roman Enterprisers." I sighed running a hand through my hair.
"Look, I'm Team Bobby, too. Okay? But there's a reason we left him in the car with Emily. You know that. The more action he sees, the more chance he gets to spin out." Sam added as Dean looked between the pair of us. I knew he wasn't happy keeping Bobby at arms length, but I also knew he understood where we were coming from. He'd seen Bobby's wrath as much as I had.
"All right, fine. So, we'll keep him off the front lines, and he can just, you know, keep calm and carry on, right?" Dean sighed agreeing with the pair of us. A cop car drove past us slowly playing Why can't we be friends?. I watched Sam cover up the needle with his hand.
"Well, and if he can't?" Sam asked the question we didn't want to ask. Suddenly the cop car started to blare it's sirens in time with the music, making Sam put the needle away in a hurry. As the car drove off I noticed the chubby guy on the bench continue to drink his slushi like nothing had happened. Stoner people were so... docile it was scary.
That night we headed towards out to find the Alpha Vampire. Emily was sat in the back next to me as Dean drove and Sam tried to search local locations which could house him.
"When they hauled you off to vamp camp, do you remember how long the drive was?" Dean asked looking over his shoulder to us.
"We left at night. Got in before dawn." Emily nodded as she tried to remember.
"So, six, seven hours?" I asked from the side of her.
"I think so, yes." She answered, glancing at me nervously.
"You are doing great, ok?" I gave her hand a small squeeze and felt something. It was hard to describe, it was a familiar feeling, but more like trying to remember a dream. Everything was hazy and just out a reach of clear thought.
"Are you ok?" Emily asked getting the boys attention. They both looked over their shoulders to me.
"Yeah, yeah I'm fine. Just zoned out for a moment." I lied to Emily as I caught Dean looking at me threw the rear view mirror.
"Do you remember any highways?" Sam asked Emily as I gave Dean the small shake of my head. I honestly had no idea what I felt, or what that was. I didn't want to worry anyone unless it became an issue.
"No. We only took back roads." Emily answered as I glanced at her again.
"Okay. So, figure they averaged 45 miles per-" Sam started to work out the maths.
"Couldn't have been more than 300 miles." Dean finished his thought as the pair shared a look.
"Right." Sam nodded a little typing it into his GPS.
"What direction were you going?" Dean asked glancing over his shoulder to Emily for a second.
"I don't know. I'm sorry." Emily answered shaking her head a little.
"Oh, that's okay. Em, you're doing great. Um...is there anything else you remember?" Sam asked throwing her the puppy dog eyes again, that look really seemed to calm her down.
"Bells. As we pulled up, I heard these loud bells." Emily nodded firmly, it was clear the bells had made a lasting impression.
"It was still dark out?" I asked softly, throwing her a half a smile. Emily just nodded as her answer.
"You thinking church?" Dean asked looking at me in the rear view mirror again.
"No, that's too early. It could have been a monastery. Monks get up at 4 a.m. to pray." Sam answered glancing in the back to the pair of us.
"Ugh. Can't get laid. Can't sleep in. A friggin' tragedy." Dean groaned looking back to the road and I smirked. Dean really knew what he loved in life and it was clear monk was never going to be on his career path. Sam half ignored his brother, looking something up on his phone. "Okay, so, Alpha's camping next to a, uh, monkey house." Dean joked, looking proudly over to Sam for his reaction. When he didn't get one from Sam, he looked over his shoulder to me. I just shook my head with a deadpan expression. Dean cleared his throat, looking back over to Sam. "How many we got in range?" He asked plainly, pouting a little that no one laughed at his joke.
"Looks like one. Just outside, uh... Missoula, Mt." Sam explained as we headed to the monastery. Once we pulled up, we took a look at the place. At night it was guarded well, with patrols on the grounds and roof. Sitting outside I could feel something about the place. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath letting it out slowly as I tried to focus on the feeling. Power. There is power in there. A strong, old power... I think it's the Alpha. It has to be the Alpha... Yeah he's in there. I opened my eyes and everyone was still too busy checking out the place to notice my little adventure.
"This is where he took me." Emily confirmed as we scoped out the place.
"Are you sure?" Sam asked turning to look at her.
"What now?" Emily asked as she nodded at us.
"We'll get you some place safe. Circle back and Ginsu these leeches." Dean explained, starting up the engine and pulling away from the monastery.
We got Emily into a motel room and settled. She was sat on the bed watching the TV while Sam and Dean cornered me in the other side of the room. I looked up to the pair confused as they shared a silent conversation.
"Wanna fill me in?" I asked keeping my voice down so that Emily wouldn't hear us.
"How's your finger?" Sam asked as the pair turned to me. I shrugged looking down at my hand and seeing that the red blister had healed. No. My powers. They can't be back... if they are what Crowley said... no, please, no. My stomach dropped and as I looked back up at the guys, they noticed too.
"Are you back?" Dean asked carefully as his eyes darted from my finger to my face. He had pulled up that wall, trying to protect himself from me again.
"No." I answered honestly. "But..." I tucked some hair behind my ear.
"But?" Sam asked folding his arms over his chest. He looked worried for me.
"But I picked up on the Alpha back outside the monastery. I could just feel him there. It's the first sign of any powers. I swear." I answered looking between the pair, praying they would believe me.
"Maybe you should stay here. I mean what if you're powers come back at the wrong time?" Dean suggested softly, glancing at Sam.
"Yeah what if they do?" I asked as the pair looked at me confused. "You really think leaving me with Emily is a great idea? What if I wolf out and terrify her?" I asked folding my arms over my chest.
"Doesn't it normally take a few weeks before you're back to wolfing out anyway?" Sam pointed out tilting his head to one side.
"So?" I asked looking up at him.
"So, you're safer here babysitting Emily." Sam replied looking down at me.
"And you think I'm going to let you go after an Alpha without backup?" I asked putting my hands on my hips.
"What if your powers mess up out there? You could get hurt, or get us hurt. Megan, you're safer here, keeping Emily safe." Sam argued, trying his best to keep his voice down.
"Bullshit." I bit out shaking my head. "The Alpha is the danger. He can't get to Emily during the day. You two just think you can walk in there with no back up? I need to be there, powered or not. Maybe I can reason with him? Maybe I can just work as a distraction! Doesn't matter, I need to be there." I argued back, trying my best to keep my voice down.
"Megan-" Sam started to argue when Dean put his hand on his little brothers shoulder.
"You'll just fallow us if we leave you here, right?" Dean asked looking into my eyes. He knew me. He knew me so damn well that he knew what I was thinking before I thought it.
"Damn straight." I answered with a small smirk. Dean sighed, running a hand over his face, before glancing at Sam and sighing.
"Guess our only option is to take you along." Dean shrugged looking between Sam and me. "But first sign of wolf. First sign of any powers. You get benched, agreed?" Dean asked looking straight into my eyes.
"I promise." I nodded the smirk still on my face.
We finished gathering our things for the hunt. The whole time Emily just sat there watching the TV, soaking in all the things that had changed since she was a little kid. I packed my duffel with a few things as I watched Dean walk over to Sam with the needle. I walked over to the pair tucked the machete down my belt loop.
"All right, here we go. 10cc's of Vamptonite." Dean explained holding out the needle to Sam. Both me and Sam looked at Dean unimpressed at the name he gave the blood in the needle. "It's a thing." Dean protested as I smirked at him, shaking my head. Sam took the needle and packed it into his duffel bag.
"What's a Kardashian?" Emily asked watching the TV.
"Oh, that's, uh... " Dean looked from the TV back to Emily. "Just another bloodsucker." He joked but Emily looked worried. I frowned at Dean as he panicked. "No, it – it's... a joke." He muttered walking over to the safe in the room.
"He's joking Em." I added reassuringly as I walked over to her.
"Here. If we're not back by dawn, call this number – Jody Mills. She's a friend." Sam explained walking over to us and passing Emily the piece of paper. "She'll take care of you. Here, use this phone."
"Sam? Megan? Thank you." Emily answered with a warm smile to us. I turned to Sam and nodded a little before we both looked at Emily.
"You bet." Sam smiled back before we headed to the door. Dean opened the door before it immediately slammed shut again. We all looked at Emily who jumped and looked scared.
"It was the wind." He lied before turning his back on Emily and whispering softly. "Chill out, Bobby. We'll be back soon." Dean opened the door and we walked out into the hall.
"Well, he didn't take that very well." Sam sighed as we walked out of the motel.
"How'd you think he was gonna take it?" Dean grunted as Sam walked into a maid pushing a cleaning cart.
"Excuse me." The maid apologised as Sam threw her a warm smile.
"Sorry." He replied as we rushed out of the building.
We pulled up outside the monastery and scoped out the place. It was clear that half the vampires weren't out there patrolling the area. With it being daytime we had a better chance of reaching the Alpha with as little trouble as possible. Something I wouldn't lie, I was glad about.
"Well, this time of day, most of them would be catching z's. They won't know what hit them." Dean explained as he glanced to me and I nodded in agreement. Sam however didn't say a word, he was looking out to the building. "Hey. You with me?" Dean asked hitting Sam on the shoulder.
"Yeah." Sam mumbled but didn't sound convinced.
"But?" I asked leaning forward between the pair. Sam let out a loud sigh before turning to face the pair of us.
"Are you sure you just want to charge in there, machetes blazing? Last time, it took a dozen hunters to take down the Alpha. And most of them didn't make it out." Sam explained looking back to the pair of us.
"Yeah, well, you got a better idea?" Dean asked slightly sarcastically. It turned out that Sam did have a better idea. Well maybe not better, but different. I figured since there was only three of us that we might as well try Sam's idea and so we out voted Dean. We walked up to the front door of the monastery, all three of us keeping an eye out for any vampires ready to jump out at us.
"Stupid, stupid, stupid." Dean muttered as we walked up the stairs of the front door. Sam held a finger up to keep Dean quiet. I glanced at Dean as he just looked unhappy with the whole situation. I shrugged as Sam pushed the front door and it opened by itself.
"Guys." Sam whispered looking back to us.
"Maybe we're too late." Dean suggested as I cocked an eyebrow at him.
"When are we ever that lucky?" I asked as Sam walked inside and was suddenly grabbed by someone just inside the door.
"Sam!" Dean cried out lunging after Sam and also instantly getting grabbed some someone. I was seconds behind Dean and felt strong arms wrap around me as I crossed into the building too.
"Get off me!" I cried out as I could see Dean and Sam struggling with vampires who were holding them. A few more walked over to us; one in a dark suit standing in front of the others.
"Don't resist." He spoke with a monotone. "The Alpha wishes to see you," He said looking at me as my eyes darted to the guys. "Take the others to the study." He ordered as the vampire holding me started to pull me away from the guys.
"Hey! Hey leave her alone!" Dean yelled struggling with the vampire holding him.
"Leave her alone!" Sam echoed but it was useless we were all dragged off in different directions.
"Dean! Sam!" I cried out my voice echoing as I was pulled down a dark corridor.
I was dragged into a dining room and thrown into the room. I stumbled into the table, putting my hands out to stop myself from falling. I flicked the hair off my face as I looked up. Sat at the end of a very long table was the Alpha vampire. He shot me a toothy grin as I met his gaze.
"Omega, it's been too long." He hummed as I stood up straight. I felt my skin crawl just looking at him. Vampires and Werewolves aren't exactly known for getting on well, and the first of each kind, even more so.
"And that's the welcome I get? You might want to work on the welcoming committees opening number." I joked rolling my shoulders, trying to relax a little. The Alpha let out a deep laugh and I fought not to shiver as something stirred inside me.
"I see you still choose to hang are those to imbeciles." The Alpha commented about Dean and Sam. "Even after what he did to you?" He asked leaning forward in his seat, his eyes locked on mine. As we locked eyes I felt his stare work through me, he wasn't just looking at me, he was looking at my soul. I shook my head trying to look away from the Alpha but I couldn't tear my eyes off him.
"I don't... I don't know what you're talking about." I stammered backing away slightly as I felt the fear creep up my spine.
"My dear, I am many things, but a fool is not one." The Alpha purred as in a blink he was by my side. I never saw him move. I jumped back, feeling my heart race in my chest. He reached out a hand and placed it on my cheek. His skin was ice cold and I fought again not to shiver. "Omega. I can see it. See the devastation in your eyes." He added looking straight into my eyes. I felt myself falling deeper into his stare.
"I... I..." My mind went blank as I couldn't help but look into his eyes.
"Does he realise the damage he's caused you?" The Alpha asked tilting my head as he looked through into my soul. I felt frozen, right down to the core of me. He was talking to my soul, taking in how broken it must have looked.
"He knows. He's just learnt the whole truth." I answered without thinking. Damn it! Shut up! Don't tell him these things- He'll use it against you! Shut! Up!
"My dear Omega, he's destroyed you. He's killed you." The Alpha purred with a hint of anger to his tone, shaking his head with a frown on his face. "That one man has killed more of our kind then all the hunters put together. Do you realise you're fate?" He asked curiously watching me.
"I regain my powers and I die of a broken heart." I answered again without thinking.
"The last Omega, the last to ever be, and he kills you. It's a travesty!" The Alpha called out sounding disappointed by it all.
"I love him." I blurted out and wanted to kick myself. Why can't I just shut up? What is he doing to me?!
"Yes, yes you do. But you can't forgive him? Isn't love such a cruel thing?" He asked rhetorically. I kept quiet as he titled my head again, letting out a heavy sigh. "Do you want me to kill him for you?" He asked seriously. What?! NO! At those words something in my mind snapped and I took a step back, violently shaking my head.
"No, no that's not why... We're here to help you... we're here-" I mumbled as my head felt like cotton wool. I couldn't get my thoughts straight, I felt so confused.
"We? We?!" The Alpha laughed shaking his head. "My child, the spell that man has on you is stronger then any a witch could bestow. He has killed you, yet you remain so loyal to him, it's saddening." He mocked me as he returned to his seat. As he moved away I let out a heavy sigh, feeling safer the further away he got to me. The doors to my side opened and two vampires shoved Dean and Sam into the room.
"Megan!" Sam cried out as Dean rushed over to me, his eyes looking for any signs of me being injured. Dean grabbed me by the shoulders, giving me a small squeeze to make sure I was really there.
"Are you ok? Did he hurt you?" Dean whispered as his eyes finally landed on mine.
"I'm fine, we... we just, um talked." I answered, glancing at the top of the table where the Alpha sat. "I'm.. I'm ok." I answered feeling the fuzzy feeling in my head fade away. Dean grabbed my hand and led me back to Sam and him, making sure that he was standing just in front of me.
"The Winchesters. I'm intrigued." The Alpha purred as the door to his side and Emily walked into the room with a wide smile on her face.
"Emily!" Sam cried out as we watched her walk over to the Alpha's chair and lean on it.
"Hi, Sam." She beamed looking at the three of us.
"Wow. For a girl raised in a basement, you're a hell of an actress." Dean scoffed shaking his head at her as we all kicked ourselves for letting her play us like that.
"You were gonna hurt my daddy." Emily pouted leaning her head on the chair.
"Hmm." The Alpha purred with pride.
"Wow. You get a trophy in Stockholm Syndrome. And sorry to burst your bubble, but, uh... we weren't. Sam here had a better idea." Dean explained waving a hand in Sam's direction.
"We're here to talk. That's it." Sam said looking straight at the Alpha. He started to laugh, looking at all three of us.
"We're telling the truth, you can sense that, I know you can." I said firmly, standing to the right of Dean.
"Now that my guys have taken your blades and your syringes of tainted blood. Is that what you mean?" The Alpha laughed shaking his head at us.
"Well, we, uh... figured you might hold a grudge." Dean joked flatly.
"And why would I? Because you captured me, tortured me, sold me to the king of Hell?" The Alpha asked bitterly as his squared his gaze on Dean alone.
"That was more our grandpa." Dean replied with a small smirk and shrugged his shoulders. Suddenly the vampire behind Dean, grabbed him, slamming his head head into the table, knocking him onto his knees.
"Dean!" I cried out, helping him back onto his feet. As he struggled to his feet he spat some blood out.
"Thank you. That was awesome." Dean muttered shaking his head as he stood up straight. I frowned as Dean wiped the blood from his mouth a nodded that he was ok.
"We're telling the truth!" I grunted, shooting my best glare to the Alpha.
"I'm going to peel off your faces and drink you slowly." The Alpha hissed from his seat at the top of the table.
"Just listen. You need us." Sam cried out, walking up to be level with me and Dean.
"Oh, yes. I am thirsty!" The Alpha purred as he looked between Sam and Dean. My heart jumped into my throat at the thought of the Alpha attacking them.
"The plague! We know what it is! What do you know about Leviathan?" Sam blurted out as he tried to make the Alpha see we really did want to help him.
"A bit." The Alpha purred as I saw him realise something. I think he realised that we knew more than he thought.
"You know they're poisoning the food supply?" I asked confidently as I looked him square in the eyes.
"Roman didn't mention that when we met for dinner last fall. We made lots of plans. We are on excellent terms, he and I." The Alpha explained as I felt my stomach roll. He really doesn't know... Dick is playing them all off against each other.
"You sure about that? Did he mention that he was going to... Maui wowie the human population?" Dean barked waving a hand in the air as he talked.
"Oh, of course. He said grabbing a snack would be easier than ever." The Alpha confirmed, so confident in his relationship with Dick.
"He said you'd all live together, didn't he? You really believe him? You think your children are dying by accident? There is pesticide in the formula!" Sam cried out shaking his head as it appeared to have clicked with him to.
"It suits you to think so. You need me on your side." The Alpha shrugged, not willing to believe us.
"There is something in the blood. It burns our kind from the inside out- all of us! You must have seen your children dying. Believe us! Whatever deal Dick made with you, is utter crap! He is going to end all of us, no competition for his kind, just cattle to graze on." I explained begging for the Alpha to see that Dick really was only looking out for himself. The Alpha paused, looking over to me, looking into my soul again as I stood straight and tried to make him see the truth. I swear I got a moment of fear wash from the Alpha. It was just a beat, leaving almost as soon as I felt it.
"Why are you telling me this?" The Alpha asked curiously, playing devils advocate with us.
"Because we can stop Dick. Stop all of it. We just... We need your blood – for the weapon." Sam explained plainly, laying it all out for the Alpha.
"So now you want to prevent the extermination of the vampire race." The Alpha laughed, mockingly.
"No. But it beats going down with you." Dean admitted honestly. We were all praying the Alpha would believe us. Suddenly a door opened and a small boy no older then eight walked into the room.
"Allan, darling come." The Alpha purred as we watched the small boy walk round to the other side of his chair.
"Well, the creep gets creepier." Dean muttered looking to me and Sam. I sighed really hoping that the vampire wouldn't get pissed off with Dean's attitude.
"What's wrong?" The Alpha asked Allan.
"Edgar's here." Allan answered plainly. My heart jumped to my throat again as me, Dean and Sam all look at each other slightly panicked. The Alpha dismissed Allan, I watched the kid walk out of the room through the door he walked in.
"Wow, what a funny coincidence. All right, we need soap, uh, cleanser, anything with borax in it. We need knives." Dean rambled looking around the room for assistance from vampires.
"Put all of them in the study." The Alpha ordered to the other vampires in the room.
"What? No. No, wait." Sam cried out as vampires grab hold of each of us.
"Word of advice, boys. You do not live through centuries of fire and ice and continental divide... by jumping to conclusions." The Alpha said dismissively.
"You're making a huge mistake! Please, believe us!" I begged struggling against the vampire who had his hands on my upper arms.
"You're judgement is clouded Omega." The Alpha added as we were all shoved towards the door.
"Okay. Whoa, whoa, whoa." Dean cried out as we all continued to struggle.
"You're making a mistake! Listen! Wait!" Sam added as we were all shoved into the study.
"Hey. Hey!" Dean hissed as the vampires shoved all of us into a study, I stumbled into Sam as I heard the vampires lock the door behind us. As I stood up straight I looked around the room and shuddered. There were bags of blood in a refrigerated cabinet, and empty bags hanging from medical stands. I felt a hunger rumbled through me as I looked at the bags of blood. A hunger I hadn't felt for a while. I closed my eyes tight hoping that if I couldn't see the blood it wouldn't be an issue to me. No, no no... come on. Not now. Not here! This isn't happening to me. Not here. Get a grip! I heard one of the guys try the door with no luck. I heard the heavy sigh before a sharp stabbing pain burst into my heart.
"Arh!" I cried out dropping to my knees as I felt like my heart was being stabbed my a silver blade.
"Megan?!" The guys yelled at the same time, as they both rushed to my side.
"What's wrong?" Dean asked moving to be in front of me. I gasped as I felt another bolt of pain dart through my heart.
"It hurts." I gasped out holding my chest. "Hurts real bad." I added gasping again.
"Are you hurt?" Sam asked worry lacing his words. I couldn't speak, I shook my head closing my eyes and begging for the pain to fade.
"Megan, keep your eyes open, please, look at me." Dean called out, putting his hand on my knee. I snapped my eyes open and in that moment I had changed. I could hear the racing hearts of both Dean and Sam. I could smell the blood in the bags and boy was that enticing. It was like smelling a steak after being in the gym for the last hour. I felt how scared the pair of them were over me.
"Sam get back!" Dean ordered never looking away from me. Sam stumbled back, getting to his feet as I felt worry change to fear.
"Arh!" I let out a scream as I doubled over holding my chest as I felt a fire burn through my veins. I gasped clenching my fists so tight I could smell the blood on my own hands.
"Megan!" Dean cried out, his hands on my shoulders, trying to make me sit up. I gasped again as in a heart beat it all stop. The pain vanished, the hunger vanished, the power vanished. I panted harder as I let Dean sit me up.
"I'm... I'm ok now..." I panted looking at how pale Dean suddenly looked.
"The hell you are!" Dean snapped shaking his head as he looked over to Sam. "We need to get her out of here. Try the window." He barked to Sam. I lent back on my heels as I watched Sam try the window. "Anything?" Dean asked impatiently.
"Nothing." Sam sighed shooting me a worried look. "What happened Megan?" Sam asked throwing me a puppy dog look. I shook my head, getting to my feet and leaning against the table.
"I... I looked at the blood... I felt my wolf side stir. Next thing... next thing I knew, I was... it felt like I was having my heart ripped out." I explained, avoiding looking at either Winchester. The room fell silent as we all thought back to what Crowley has said. It'll kill you... He is right. It's going to kill me. Dean Winchester is going to kill me. I lent on the table as I realised that I was going to die soon.
"Screw Crowley! He doesn't know everything!" Dean barked making me jump a little. "We'll talk to Cass, see if he can fix this some how." Dean added looking around the room. He didn't sound convincing but I knew what he was doing. He was trying to cope with the situation the best he could.
"Yeah, you're right Dean." I added with a small smile. "But let's get out of here alive first huh?" I asked looking between the brothers.
"You think Edgar's here for the same reason we are? I mean, look, if they figured out that we're here to get Alpha blood for a weapon..." Sam asked shrugging his shoulders.
"I think any way you slice it, you got Pac Man and True Blood in the same room and that's bad news. I mean, he's not stupid. Why the hell do you think he locked us in here?" Dean asked looking around the room.
"Dean, we're his enemy. I mean, they're like monster cousins or something. Who would you give the benefit of the doubt to? Man, you know what? Maybe the Sucro is poisoning the vamps on accident. Maybe they'll fix it." Sam suggested only it didn't sound like Sam believed it.
"Dick is cutting every monster out of the food chain. It's all for him. Nobody else." I sighed pushing the hair out of my face.
"I think you got the oldest monster on earth thinking that he can hold his own because he always has." Dean grumbled looking around for a way out of the room.
"Edgar's gonna eat him alive." Sam commented softly.
"Yeah. Hey." Dean agreed as picking up one of the needles attached to the empty bags. "You think you could pick a lock with this?" He asked holding it out to Sam. I watched Sam walk over and take a look at the needle, nodding a little.
"But Dean... We gave up all our Vamptonite." Sam sighed looking between me and Dean.
"Did we?" Dean asked taking a needle out of his boot.
"Vamptonite." I smirked looking at the needle.
"Vamptonite." Dean smirked back at me.
Sam managed to pick the lock and we made out way out of the study. We moved as quietly as we could but at the bottom of some stairs a vampire grabbed hold of Sam from behind. Dean plunged the needle into the vamps next burning it from the inside out. We watched as his skin bubbled and burnt before he fell to the floor dead.
"Wow." Dean said astonished at how well it worked.
"So glad I can't smell that with my wolf nose." I admitted looking at the still burning flesh on the vamp.
"Vamptonite." Sam smirked looking at the pair of us.
"Friggin' vamptonite. All right, we need knives. There's got to be a prep room or a kitchen somewhere. Come on." Dean clapped his hands together and took the lead.
We headed back into the dinning room as Edgar loomed over the Alpha with all his face turned into rows of teeth. Dean rushed over to Edgar from behind as I moved to get to Emily. As I left Dean's side Edgar turned around, Dean swung his machete at Edgar neck. I watched as Edgar knocked the machete clear out of Dean's hand, grabbing his lapels and dragging his closer.
"Dean!" I yelled as I watched Sam effortlessly cut Edgar's head from behind. I smirked before rushing over to Emily.
"You don't want to see what happens next." I said to Emily, trying to usher her over to the room I saw Allan leave through.
"Grab a glass. We're juicing this freak." Dean yelled picking up his machete and moving back over to the Alpha.
"No!" Emily screamed as I held onto her.
"Stay back!" Dean snapped as the Alpha got to his feet and sent Dean flying over the table.
"Leave her alone. She's been through quite enough." The Alpha sighed as I kept my body between her and the Alpha.
"Now, that's rich... coming from the guy who took her off the swing-set." Sam snapped as he and Dean moved closer to the Alpha.
"Do you want to do this fight? Or do you want my blood?" The Alpha asked calmly as he looked between the three of us. I glanced at the guys as we were all slightly wary of the Alpha. I watched as the Alpha sat down at the head of the table and sliced his wrist open, letting the blood drip into a glass.
"You're helping us?" I asked confused as the Alpha held the half full glass out to Sam.
"For taking care of Edgar. Now go." The Alpha answered as Sam looked between me and Dean. I could see he was thinking about doing something pretty stupid.
"What about the little boy?" Sam asked and I felt the smirk burst out onto my lips.
"Are you joking?" The Alpha hissed looking between the three of us.
"Do we look like we're joking? How many other kids you got in here, you freak?" Dean snapped, glaring at the Alpha.
"At the moment, just him." The Alpha answered before sighing loudly. "Emily... help Allan with his coat. He's leaving with Sam, Megan and Dean. Now, take it." The Alpha ordered with no room for questions. Sam took the glass and the pair started to walk towards the door.
"I..." I spoked up, making the Alpha turn to me and the guys stop to look back at me. "Thank you, from one monster to another." I sighed as the Alpha nodded to me. He turned to the guys waiting for them to say something similar. They didn't.
"What? No thank you? Oh, right, right. Your flesh is crawling. All you really want to do is kill me now. You hate having to wait and come back and try again." The Alpha hissed at the boys and I could see the fire burning in his eyes.
"Pretty much. I wouldn't leave that head too close to that body for too long." Dean quipped back, nodding to Edgar.
"See you next season." The Alpha purred as we all waked out of the door.
"Looking forward to it." Dean yelled as we left with the blood.
It was pretty late when we got back to the motel room. But we had a win. We got the blood and we even got a kid back to his parents before he turned out like Emily. Sure I had a little taste of my not so distant future, but we were so close to getting the weapon ready to kill Dick.
"Let's never do that again. Cops thought we took that kid." Dean sighed as we walked down the corridor to the room.
"Long as he gets back to his folks, I don't care what they thought." Sam admitted honestly and I gave him a small smile. It really did feel good, to actually help someone.
"We had to jump out a freakin' window, man." Dean grumbled.
"You did, I just walked out the front door." I smirked as the police didn't have any questions for me. Dean rolled his eyes at me as we reached the door. I watched as he reached for the handle but the door looked bust open. We all pulled out guns as Dean opened the door and turned the light on. We rushed in and I couldn't believe my eyes. The room was a tip, the placed had been trashed.
"Bobby. Bobby?" Dean called out as I looked around the devastation. I noticed the mirror was cracked, the draws had been flung open.
"Guys?" Sam called out as we both turned to him. He moved so that we could see the safe in the room was open, Bobby's flask gone. "He's gone."
"Damn it!" Dean cursed as we continued to search the room. Sam got his EMF reader out and was pacing the room as I checked that there was nothing else missing.
"I'm getting trace bits of EMF, but it's fading fast. And Bobby's probably been gone three or four hours. He's got the flask, Dean." Sam sighed, turning to face me and Dean. "How the hell are we supposed to track him? Look, I hate to say this..." Sam let his sentence die away, but we all knew what he was trying to say.
"Well, then don't. He's gone." Dean laughed sarcastically before letting out a deep sigh. I watched as he lent on the arm of a chair. "How could he do this... now? I mean, we've got half the freakin' weapon, we're almost there." Dean asked and I could see how hurt he felt about Bobby leaving.
"Dean, Bobby just..." I started to say when Dean looked straight into my eyes and I lost all my words. I didn't have anything I could have said to make it better.
"It's not him. I mean, he's not thinking." Sam added sadly as we all just looked at each other lost.
"So, what, we just keep going while he's out there like this?" Dean asked as we turned back to him.
"Do we have any other option? I mean, it's what he'd want us to do. Right?" Sam asked looking between us.
"What if he does something stupid? Really hurt someone?" I asked nervously.
"We need to finish this. Kill Dick and give Bobby no reason to have that rage, right Dean?" Sam asked turning to his big brother who looked just about rock bottom.
"Yeah. Yeah, him and Frank and Cass, if his marbles were in the bag." Dean muttered walking over to his bag. "It's a good thing we got Crowley in our corner. Right? Seeing as how it all comes down to him. What could possibly go wrong?" Dean asked sarcastically as he turned to face us.
Hope you guys enjoyed this chapter.
