Part 62
Isaac Newton, son of a great doctor and an even greater dentist had lived his entire life under pressure of being perfect and to be molded into a doctor. His grades were supposed to be top, he was supposed to join a sports team and he was supposed to be student council president some day. Dalton Academy gave their students a free pass to the Ivy League by just graduating from there, it was the best school in the country and Isaac's parents wanted him to have and be the best. But luckily for him that now meant that be the best in what he wanted to be the best in.
He had perfect grades of course, he was a really good performer as well and he had lots of friends and a steady relationship with his boyfriend. Isaac couldn't wait for his parents to come so that he could show them his latest poems that had gotten a high grade and that Carmichael wanted him to gather in a book so that it could be published. His parents would be so proud! He sighed in annoyance after watching his watch… again. His parents were late, it was already 12:45. Why couldn't they ever be on time? The doors opened behind him and Isaac grinned when he saw his parents. He hurried up to them and his mother hugged him tightly and then his father did as well. Then to Isaac's greatest delight his mother looked at him and asked:
"Please tell me dear, have you written anymore poems? I'd love to read them."
Isaac's day just became much better.
This was Rob's second Thanksgiving dinner at Dalton and he enjoyed spending the day with his family. Rob lived with his mum and dad. Rob had once had two older sisters but both girls had been on the plane that crashed into World Trade Center. This year as September 11 came around Rob had not locked himself away from the world. He was out having fun with his friends and the kid he was suppose to mentor. That means Wes. Wes and the other freshmen in the Dragon weren't that close, except for Benjamin but the duo was close to four other boys. Samuel Norris and Gabriel Perez both lived in Black Tortoise and their mentors were good friends with Rob and Toby, Benjamin's mentor. Then there was a boy from the White Tiger named Kevin McGuire and a boy from the Vermillion Bird named Cory Langdon. On September 11 the six mentors and their charges went out having fun. Now Rob wanted to introduce Wes to his family again but unlike last family night he wasn't able to snatch him. Wes had gone missing early in the morning and so had Kim and Collin.
Rob' parents arrived at 8 am and Rob had showed them around the school, but unlike last time he didn't find Wes anywhere. It was as if he and the other two Warblers had disappeared from the face of the Earth. They didn't even answer their phones. But Rob wasn't too worried. It wasn't as if Wes was missing with the Everetts or Otthan… right?
Well Wes wasn't with the Everetts and that was making them slightly annoyed. They had spent all day so far looking for him. They looked everywhere and on every single roof they could get onto. But no sign of their missing third. They had looked everywhere and he was nowhere to be found! That wasn't normal! Wes was always somewhere! And when they tried to call him he didn't answer. The Everetts had called all other Warblers, asking if they'd seen him but no one had. Well they didn't get an answer from Kim and Collin. This was even stranger. Why were their favorite Swede not answering? Why wasn't Collin? This was a mystery that had to be solved! But before the boys could get their Sherlock Holmes hats on their parents arrived and demanded that their sons showed them around and introduced them to all the teachers and of course their friends. There would be now mystery solving with the Everetts today…
Howard Jameson was not having a good day so far. He hated family nights because he thought that his family… well they were different. Howard's dad was blind, as was his mother. Howard however was not blind and people sometimes thought that he wasn't the son to these two people, he was their assistant or something. When Howard was little he didn't understand that his parents couldn't see so there were lots and lots of times that they argued because he got upset with them not seeing what he was showing them.
He had a memory of once drawing their house and family and wanted to show it to his parents but they didn't want to look and Howard had been upset for days. Luckily he had an aunt that could help him understand what was going on and that he could show things to. But he got to show his parents one thing… his voice.
Howard had been singing all his life and played the piano. His parents would often sit in the living room and Howard would play the piano and sing to them. His mother once told him that they could finally see him because they saw his voice.
Now Howard loved his parents a lot so they weren't really causing his bad day. That was caused by the fact that he had a sore throat so he couldn't sing to them or talk to them that much because he had no voice. His aunt was there too though to help explain to her brother and sister-in-law what was going on around them. They caught a lot of looks and Howard felt a bit like an animal in a zoo. Had they never seen blind people around here? He sighed and felt his mom take his hand and all his worries got forgotten. His mom needed him and he would gladly be there for her. He always would be.
Logan hated how his dad could always embarrass him and how did he do so? He told all parents or teachers they met about things Logan did when he was little. How he had a blankie that he brought everywhere he went. How he was such a little doll when he was little. Logan had never liked to play with cars or dinosaurs. His dad told everyone how he played with dolls and that he still has them to witch Logan objected with:
"They're action figures!"
Oliver's parents were so proud of everything he had accomplished since getting to Dalton. They had been there for every competition and they were happy to meet his friends and teachers. Oliver was just sad that they didn't get to meet Austin, Joseph and Justine because the trio had mean to much to him, especially Austin and Joe. When walking down the hallway they ran into principal Carmichael.
"Hi there Ollie", he said happily. "Is this your parents?"
"Yes sir", Oliver said happily.
"You should be very proud of your son", Carmichael said and smiled brightly as he shook their hands.
"We are", Oliver's mother said. Carmichael then turned to Oliver.
"I am so proud of you Ollie", he said. "When I look at you now I can't seem to find any traces of that sad, broken and devastated boy that came here last year. Just look at you now Ollie! Look at you! Standing so tall and proud about who you are, so responsible, smart and friendlu! Dalton is happy to have you here! I hear you are a big help for the rest of the basses in the Warblers."
"Speaking of them", Oliver's dad said. "Will they perform at dinner?"
"Most likely", Carmichael said. "Right Oliver?"
"Yes… but we are three members down because Kim, Collin and Wes have vanished", Oliver answered. Carmichael just laughed.
"Don't worry about those three", he said and patted Oliver's shoulder before leaving. "They are just out having some fun."
Oliver stared after him. What did their principal know that no one else did?
"Mom will you stop that", Peter "Pan" Watson objected as his mum was cleaning his cheek like mothers do.
"Sorry dear but you had a little something there", she said.
"You could just have told me", Peter grumbled as he noticed some other boys from Vermillion chuckle or snigger at him. He glared at them and that sent them running.
"Now I hope you remember to switch your underwear dear", he mother continued.
"Mom!"
"Juan?!" his older brother exclaimed as Juan came tumbling down the stairs. Juan landed on his back and then sat up shaking his head as if he was about to clear it. He then got up and looked up the stairs.
"That wasn't funny!" he yelled and then turned to his older brother. "Hi Julio!"
"Juan what the hell?!" Julio asked.
"Oh don't be such a worrywart", Juan said. "I fall down these stairs every day at least once. I don't even get hurt anymore."
"Why are you falling down the stairs?"
"Because I lack grace and body control?"
"And why do you do that?"
"Don't know, you raised me… so it's your fault?"
"Will you stop answering my questions with questions of your own?"
"Will you?"
"Juan will you please stop that?"
"Stop what?"
"Will you please stop answering my questions with questions?"
"Maybe?"
"Juan will you please stop that?"
"Why?"
As an answer Julio just threw his arm around Juan's neck and pulled him tightly to him and started to tickle him. Juan's laughter rang throughout the building and brought smiles to everyone's faces.
Alexander sighed. His mother and grandmother always did this. They always asked him if he was going to ask Cristina to marry him or if she was coming to dinner soon and the like. Alexander groaned and looked at his dad and granddad. Both were smirking slightly. He had no sympathy there. He wished he'd done like Wes and snuck out at 5 am so that he could get away from all this family drama. Speaking of that… where was the kid going and who was it he met up with?
TBC I'm so so so sorry for the long wait... again! But I've been having writer's block :S Don't kill me for the shortness of this chapter.
