Shadow dropped out of the portal in the middle of a field of snow, shortly followed by Silver, and then Storm.
Or at least, that's what he thought.
"Where is he?" Shadow asked.
Silver shrugged. "Beats me." he said. "Is there a chance that he decided to stay in the past?"
Shadow shook his head. "He would've seen an older version of him when we met him in the first place." he said. "Also, why would he choose to stay in the past?"
"Beats me. He doesn't talk much with me... He mostly just fights." Silver said.
"Well what'd you expect? You were working with Eggman to bring back a god that would ultimately destroy the world as we know it." Shadow said. "Speaking of which, what'd I tell you?"
"This is not the time." Silver said. "I should go looking for Blaze."
"Do you know where the remaining Chaos Emeralds are?" Shadow asked. "I have a feeling Mephiles is going to be needing the seven of them."
"Eggman has two, I have one, you have one, Storm has two..." Silver said. "Where's the seventh?"
"I don't really know." Shadow said. "Maybe Mephiles had two before I swiped the purple one?"
Silver shrugged. "Maybe."
No complaining. I forgot nothing. Storm never told Silver and Shadow about the emerald he got from Rouge.
"I'll go after Eggman's emeralds. You go find Sonic." Shadow said, as he ran towards Eggman's base.
100 YEARS LATER
"Why are you here?" Mephiles asked, as Storm walked up to the black copycat... er... Copyhedgehog, I guess. He was currently in his standard black and white form.
"I have some business with the two of you." Storm said. "I will end you both right here, right now."
"This doesn't seem like a fair fight." Mephiles said. "It may be two against one, but you have three Chaos Emeralds, while we don't even have one."
"What about that fake one you used?" Storm asked.
"What fake one?" Mephiles asked.
"The emerald you used to retreat after our underwater duel." Storm said. "Shadow took your emerald before then, yet you still had it when you escaped. It had to have been a fake."
"That attack happened before Shadow stole my emerald, not after." Mephiles said.
"I seriously hate time travel." Storm muttered, before getting into a fighting stance.
"You are seriously going to do this." Iblis said, unphased, as he walked over to join Mephiles.
"You know, I said our odds of survival are slim, but now, I'm pretty sure it's YOUR odds that are slim." Mephiles said, before blasting Storm with a wave of darkness.
The red hedgehog grunted, as he was flung back into a stone wall, where Iblis flew to in order to kick Storm in the side of the head.
The kick knocked Storm onto the ground.
"Did you ever really believe you could measure up to us?" Mephiles asked, as he started to change into his stone form. "If you thought that, you're dead wrong."
The two hedgehogs flew at the lone hedgehog who was on the ground.
Storm quickly grabbed one of the emerald he was carrying. "Chaos Control!" he shouted, as he warped out of the way, and the other two ended up colliding with both each other, as well as the ground.
"Where did he go!?" Mephiles asked.
"Why are you asking? You're the one who was tasked with watching over him!" Iblis shouted.
"WHAT!? YOU'RE THE ONE WHO HAD TO WATCH OVER HIM!" Mephiles shouted.
Storm only teleported a few feet behind them, and was going to kick them in the head, but then he wondered whether he should go through with it, or stay where he was and listen to how their argument went.
IN THE PAST
"So, where's Storm?" Sonic asked. He and Tails landed in the village about a hour ago. "And Shadow?"
"We don't know." Chris said. "We figured we would see them with you if we ever saw them again."
"Although that silver hedgehog dropped by again." Cream said.
"WHAT!?" was both Sonic's and Tails's immediate reaction.
"Are you guys hurt?" Sonic asked.
"No, he just said he wanted to talk to you." Chris said. "He's waiting by Kingdom Valley."
"And why would I just believe the guy who tried to kill me three times now?" Sonic asked, holding up a fist with 3 fingers sticking out of it.
"He also gave us this." Chris said, as he reached into his pockets, and pulled something out. Once it was out, he showed it to Sonic.
It was a white emerald.
"Alright, I'm convinced now." Sonic said, snatching the emerald. "I'll go see what he wants."
"You want me to fly you there?" Tails asked.
"Thanks for the offer, buddy, but I'm better off on the ground." Sonic said, as he grinned, and ran off.
EGGMAN'S BASE
"Doctor, there's an intruder!" Bocoe said.
"What!? AGAIN!?" Eggman asked. "Who is it this time!?"
"Let's see..." Decoe said, bringing up the security monitor. "Oh my."
"It's Shadow, doctor!" Bocoe shouted.
"SHADOW!?" Eggman asked. "Rrrr... Bring out Egg Cerberus!"
"He'll trash the place!" Bocoe shouted.
"If that hedgehog is here, he's probably here looking for Chaos Emeralds. I have a very large room set right outside the room where I keep them. More than large enough for Egg Cerberus." Eggman said, grinning.
IN THE LARGE ROOM
Shadow ran into what he thought was the room with the remaining Chaos Emeralds: the turquoise emerald and the blue emerald.
Instead of the emeralds, he ran into a room that was basically just a wide open circular space.
"What kind of crap is he trying to pull here?" Shadow asked.
"I'm not trying to pull anything, you stupid little rodent!" Eggman shouted over the loudspeaker, as the doors behind Shadow forced themselves shut.
"And what's to stop me from just using Chaos Control to pass through these doors?" Shadow asked.
"The fact that Egg Cerberus is blocking the turquoise emerald in the other direction." Eggman said. "However, it has a Chaos Emerald too, giving it the ability to negate you from passing it with Chaos Control."
"Egg Cerberus? That's not even clever." Shadow said.
Once the words escaped his mouth, a black metallic dog ran through an iron gate across the room. Shadow looking into the area behind the gate, but it was just a metal box.
"This might actually be interesting." Shadow said, allowing himself a grin.
100 YEARS LATER
Storm got bored, and kicked the two imposter hedgehogs in the side of the head.
That, however, was 2 hours ago.
Now, the hedgehog who couldn't decide on a hair colour to save his life lay on the ground, doubled over in immense pain.
"What's wrong? Surprised your couldn't take on the two of us by yourself?" Mephiles asked.
"Maybe he's just so afraid that we'll start kicking him again." Iblis said, as the two laughed.
"Of course, you're not allowed to go yet." Mephiles said. "Once your whole universe is in ashes, then you will have our permission to die."
"Worst... Movie... Ever..." Storm said.
"We know." Mephiles said, walking away, along with Iblis.
"However, I'm not done yet." Storm said, as he placed his palm on the ground, and pushed himself up.
"Iblis, will you knock him down until he's done?" Mephiles asked.
"Sure thing." Iblis said, as he ran over to Storm, and made an attempt for a foothold-destroyer beneath him.
"Now's my chance!" Storm shouted, as he grabbed his sword, and made an uppercut at Iblis's chin.
"What!?" Iblis shouted. "What's that!?"
"It's a little doodad I made." Storm said, admiring his work.
"You had that the whole time?" Iblis asked.
This made Mephiles stop in his tracks. "I was wrong. We must kill him immediately. Perhaps we can find another seal for the young Iblis temporarily."
"Darkness mode!" Storm shouted, changing his fur from red to black, and causing his spikes to stand on end.
Also, the orange side of Storm's sword stopped glowing, and the other side, the black side, did instead, causing him to involuntarily flip his sword over so the black side would be the side to strike.
"Seriously?" Mephiles asked, as if it was a stupid move. "This mode is useless unless you yourself are in darkness."
"I know." Storm said, as he grabbed two Chaos Emeralds with his spare hand. "Drown in darkness!"
Once the words were said, the ground became a puddle of darkness, and Storm dove into it.
"You won't get away that easily!" Mephiles shouted, chasing after him.
IN THE PAST
Sonic arrived at Kingdom Valley. Upon arrival, he saw Silver, as well as the purple cat, Blaze.
"So what's up?" Sonic asked. "Why ask me here?"
"We need your help for something." Silver said. "To defeat someone."
"That Iblis whatever?" Sonic asked.
"No, not the Iblis Trigger." Silver said. "If I was trying to do that, you would be pinned to the ground unconscious by this point."
"Then who do you want my help with?" Sonic asked. "And for that matter, you worked with Eggman to try killing me, so even while I have your Chaos Emerald, why would I trust you?"
"If you honestly think you can't trust me, go ahead. Strike me down right here, right now." Silver said, with his hands spread apart.
"Strike me as well." Blaze said, as she spread her arms too.
Sonic pondered on what he could do next.
In the end, he reached back, grabbed Silver's white emerald, and passed it to Silver.
"I'll be honest with you, buddy, I don't have an emerald myself." Sonic said, before shooting Silver a grin. "I'm assuming we're going into the future, but first, I have an old friend I have to visit."
"Well, actually, we already have somebody in there." Silver said.
"We do?" Blaze asked.
"That black hedgehog from before." Silver said.
"You have Shadow helping?" Sonic asked.
Silver nodded, while Blaze stood there confused.
"Why would he be helping us?" she asked.
"I'll explain on the way." Silver said.
"'On the way'?" Sonic questioned, as Silver started walking away.
"We're going to find your friend Shadow." Silver said, causing Blaze to start following, and afterwards, Sonic started walking too.
AT EGGMAN'S BASE
Egg Cerberus was a tough piece of machinery. It wasn't easy to crack open.
Even Shadow had to use a couple of walls in order to break the thing, but he did it, and he managed to retrieve the 6th emerald from it's belly, the turquoise emerald.
"You pesky little hedgehog! I'll get you for this!" Eggman screamed over the loudspeaker.
"Hmph. Sure, doc." Shadow said, as he walked over to the metal door, leading to a small room with 7 pedestals, one of which had a blue Chaos Emerald on it, which he snatched as well, before using Chaos Control to leave the base, as nothing was stopping him now.
100 YEARS LATER
"You believe this futile resistance will help you against me?" Mephiles asked, as he went for a Shadow Ball to Storm's shoulder.
"I got you 1 on 1 without breaking much of a sweat, didn't I?" Storm asked, cutting the attack with his sword, and flying over to Mephiles for a Shadow Slice.
The attack connected with Mephiles's neck, although he barely flinched. Since Storm was right in his face, Mephiles could just bitchslap him into some darkness, which the imposter of a hedgehog solidified.
"You just don't get it, do you?" Mephiles asked. "You cannot kill me!"
"After seeing what happened all those years ago, do you think I don't know that?" Storm asked. "Killing you isn't on my task list anytime soon."
"Oh?" Mephiles asked. "Then what is?"
"Shoving my foot down your lack of a mouth and then absorbing you again." Storm said.
"Absorbing me?" Mephiles asked. "Don't make me laugh!"
"You think I'm bullshitting you?" Storm asked.
"Well forgice me for not believing that the lowly Sol isn't going to succeed in absorbing a demi-god such as myself." Mephiles said, as he flew at Storm, and attempted to punch his face.
In the instant before it made contact, however, Storm grabbed Mephiles's hand with his own, and, in one swift motion, used the force of the punch to twist his body, whirling the stone hedgehog into another solidified patch of darkness.
"Stop calling me that. I'm aware there was a time when that was my name, but no longer!" Storm shouted. "When I first found out about myself, I was both shocked as well as saddened."
As this was being said, the darkness around the currently black hedgehog trembled.
"But no more. No longer am I Sol, the Solaris Trigger. From this point on, I have a new identity!" Storm continued. "I am Storm! Storm the Hedgehog! Balance between darkness and light, and wrecker of your shit!"
Mephiles just stared at the hedgehog, blinked twice, and sighed. "You always were a stubborn home, Sol."
"Stop calling me that!" Storm shouted, rushing towards Mephiles, and landed punch after punch on his face out of rage.
The last punch he landed launched Mephiles out of the darkness.
"What the hell got into you!?" Mephiles asked, as he landed on the ground, and Storm floated out of the darkness to join him.
"Didn't you hear what I said?" Storm asked. "I am no longer Sol, so don't call me that. I am Storm the Hedgehog."
"You kinda dodged his question there." Iblis said.
"You know, this next part kind makes me wish I was a falcon." Storm said. "Not sure why."
"What do you mea-" Iblis started, but before he could finish, Storm kicked him to align him up with Mephiles. He then switched back to flame mode, and put all the energy he could spare into his fist.
"HEDGEHOG..." Storm started, as he brought the fist closer to the two demi-gods. Once it made contact, he finished with: "PUNCH!"
That punch sent the two flying across the ruined city they were surrounded by, and caused them to land in the volcano.
Being drained of all his energy, Storm fell to one knee, and then flat on the ground, unconscious.
AT THE VOLCANO
The two who were sent flying landed on a conveniently placed foothold in the center of the volcano. They each landed on the rocky platforms chest-first.
"Well... That was a thing." Iblis said, panting. "Mephiles, care to explain?"
"I know as much as you do." Mephiles said, pushing himself up. "Despite what just happened, I believe we need to continue on with our buisness as usual."
"Right." Iblis said, as he closed his eyes, and started meditating. However, his eyes were shot open not even a second later. "Uh oh."
"What is it?" Mephiles asked.
"The others..." Iblis said. "They're coming."
"Who's they?" Mephiles asked.
IN THE PAST
"Are you all ready to go!?" Sonic asked everybody.
Once Sonic, Silver and Blaze met up with Shadow, Rouge showed up and came up with the idea that they each should go to the village and take anybody who wanted to come.
The ones who were going into the future were Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Chris, Shadow, Rouge, ML, Silver, Blaze, Cream and Cheese.
Because screw Egg Wyvern, I'm not writing that shit.
"We're all ready to go!" Tail said from the X Tornado, with Chris in the back seat, and Knuckles in the spare.
"All set." Shadow said, with Rouge and ML behind him.
"We're ready too!" Silver said, with Blaze, Cream and Cheese behind him.
You know, one would think to question the sanity of someone who would bring a 5 year old rabbit to a future warzone.
Then again, one would ALSO question the sanity of a 5 year old rabbit beating the shit out of a robot.
"Alright, let's do this!" Sonic shouted, as he grabbed the blue emerald that Shadow gave him.
Also, Shadow grabbed his purple emerald, and Silver grabbed his white emerald.
The three hedgehogs walked towards each other, nodded, and held their Chaos Emeralds up. "CHAOS CONTROL!" they shouted in unison.
Once this happened, a portal appeared, and they ran towards their groups. Sonic hopped on the X Tornado, while Shadow and Silver just stood with their groups.
"3..." Silver started.
"...2..." Shadow continued.
"...1!" Sonic finished, and the 3 groups ran into the portal.
100 YEARS LATER
"Hmm..." Mephiles hummed. "Well, maybe I won't need to gather the emeralds myself. They're being brought to us."
"But they have the scepter!" Iblis shouted.
"Oh, that won't be a problem." Mephiles said, before he started laughing... He sounded very evil while doing so.
I think I'm going to do 9 more chapters of this story before moving on to the sequel... Yes, there will be a sequel. It's gonna be a crossover with my other story, so once this is one, I suggest checking that one out to pass the time before I start with sequelling.
