Silver grunted, as he threw another rock at Iblis. That was probably the twentieth boulder he threw, and it hardly seemed to faze the giant lava beast.

"Come on, Silver, I know you can do better than that!" Sonic shouted.

"I don't see you doing anything to help out." Knuckles said, smacking Sonic upside the head.

Silver looked at the red echidna and the blue hedgehog in anger, but then he realized something.

Red hedgehog... Storm...

"Sonic, could you start spinning?" Silver asked.

Sonic looked confused at first, but when he looked like he got the idea, he nodded, and started spinning as fast as he could.

If I could throw Storm at the Death Egg, Silver thought, as he picked Sonic up with his psychokinesis. Then I should be able to have Sonic smack this bastard in the face!

The white hedgehog launched the blue hedgehog straight at Iblis. The two collided directly in the jaw of the great beast, but rather then bounce back, Sonic continued to spin at the jaw, slowly grinding away pieces of the rubble in which it was formed.

Seeing what he was doing, Chris looked around the X-Tornado for something to help his friend with his goal.

Yeah, remember Chris? The kid who showed up and kinda didn't do very much until right now, except that thing with Egg Cerberus?

Eventually, he came across his green gem. If anything was going to help Sonic, if would be this.

"Sonic!" he shouted, as he loaded the gem into the cannon, and he fired it at the blue spinning hedgehog.

Sonic reacted just in time to catch the gem with his shoes. Once he caught them, the drilling process was much quicker, as he felt the air itself trying to dig into the jaw.

MEANWHILE, AT THE FIGHT WITH MEPHILES

"Pathetic." Mephiles said, as he fired a ball of darkness at Storm, who sliced it in half, clearly exhausting all of his strength doing so. "You can't even take me on surrounded by darkness after having pulled that little stunt earlier."

"You're going to eat those words!" Storm shouted, as the darkness around him intensified. He slashed his sword towards Mephiles, which extended itself using a form of solidified darkness.

Mephiles, however, merely caught the dark sword with two claw-like fingers. "You know, I didn't figure you to be the kind of being to waste all of his energy in one attack."

Storm grinned. "You seem to be forgetting something."

"Hm?" Mephiles hummed, still holding the sword. "And what would that be?"

"As long as I'm in this form, and you're surrounding me with darkness," Storm said, his grin growing wider. "I have all the energy I need."

The darkness past Mephiles's two fingers continued to solidify, until it scratched his skin, almost piercing it.

"Gah!" Mephiles cried out, as the darkness surrounding them began to dim. At this moment, he released his pinch on the sword, and flew above ground, whilst Storm stayed below to absorb more darkness.

"That was a close one." Mephiles said.

"If that hedgehog gave you trouble," someone said, as he ran behind the imposter. "I'm sure you won't survive very much longer."

Mephiles turned to see Shadow for a brief second, before he stuck his right hover boot in Mephiles's face, and switching it on, setting the face on fire.

I want to see this happen in a real Sonic game... Or Sonic TV series. Like, make him do it on Sonic Boom or something. That would be awesome, maybe I'd actually watch it.

"AGH!" Mephiles cried out, as he flew into the air, replicating himself as he went. It was easy to distinguish the original from the copies, though, as the original surrounded himself with a purplish smog.

Shadow smirked, as he leapt into the air, and spin attacked the real Mephiles, causing all the fakes to disappear.

"You can't hide that easily, Mephiles!" Shadow shouted, as he planted his right foot on Mephiles's face again, and switched his hover boot on.

"ARGH!" Mephiles screamed again, as he dove back into the darkness.

"Had enough up there?" Storm asked. He was sitting on a slab of solidified darkness, in a cross-legged position.

Mephiles smirked with his non-existent mouth. "Far from it."

The imposter of a hedgehog grabbed Storm by the neck using his legs, and flew above the ground once again, throwing him into Shadow in the process.

"Do you have any more fun tricks that you would like to try?" Mephiles asked, as the two collapsed onto the ground

"I don't know." Shadow said. "Why don't you ask the robot?"

Mephiles looked at ML, who was already using a spin attack to strike Mephiles in the face. Instead of bouncing off, however, he grabbed Mephiles's neck with his legs, and threw him into the ground, landing chest first, while the yellow robot landed on his feet perfectly

"Thanks for giving him ideas." Storm said, smirking, as he pushed himself up. "It makes this game a whole lot more fun."

"I'm sorry, this is a game to you?" Mephiles asked, laughing. "I haven't even begun to play."

Everyone stared in awe, as he backhanded the air, causing the two hedgehogs and the robot to fly backwards.

"Your little automaton here may have done some damage to me already," Mephiles said, as his eyes began to glow. "but I'm afraid your luck ends here."

"Well, by arcade standards, when you run out of luck," Storm said, pulling an emerald out of hiso butt. "you put another quarter in the machine."

"And what are you planning on doing with that?" Mephiles asked. "Chaos Control would merely stop time long enough to get a hit in on me."

Storm looked at Shadow. "Do you still have that scepter?"

Shadow nodded, as he pulIed it out of his butt.

"I assume you know how to use it." Storm said. "Because you're gonna have to."

"You wouldn't..." Mephiles said.

"Well, yeah, why wouldn't I?" Storm asked, tightening his grip on the emerald. "Chaos Control!"

Mephiles shot his arm out to stop him, but he was stopped.

Shadow held the scepter out towards Mephiles, which caused it to glow a dark shade of purple. This seemed to trigger the liquidation process of Mephiles, mas he was pulled into the scepter until nothing remained.

"Well, that seemed to do the trick." Storm said, putting his emerald away as he walked over to Shadow. "Mind if I hold on to that?"

"Are you surenough that's the best idea?" Shadow asked. "I mean, one small slip up could mean the end of the world."

"I know." Storm said. "I just feel like this is something I should hold on to."

Shadow sighed, and handed him the scepter. "I don't like it, but if you're so confident, I suppose I should just let you."

"Well thank you for understanding." Storm said, taking the scepter and putting it where he put the emeralds. "We should go check on the others."

"They can take care of themselves." Shadow said. "If they can't, then maybe they shouldn't have come after all."

"Wow. You really have, like, no concern for others, don't you?" Storm asked.

"I have fairly limited concern." Shadow said. "I haven't fought this 'Iblis' before, but if what I've heard from Silver is correct, he shouldn't be too big of a threat for Sonic."

"I'm going over there anyways." Storm said, running off.

BACK AT THE IBLIS FIGHT

Iblis roared at the blue hedgehog, who had dealt quite a lot of damage to his exterior. He brought his arm back, and swatted him into the foothold, where the other were standing. He then held his hands together, and proceeded to separate them, creating a small Celestial Body between them.

Celestial Bodies are stars, but the thing he throws in the game is too small to be a star, so I used that term instead.

"What is he doing!?" Tails asked, worried.

"He's going to destroy the foothold!" Blaze shouted. "We need to get everyone off of here!"

"But the Tornadoes can't carry everyone here!" Tails shouted back. "Even with the Chaos Emeralds, there's a weight limit!"

Iblis threw the large, destructive sphere at the foothold.

"We are going to die if we don't do something!" Blaze screamed.

Silver clenched his fist, before quickly unclenching, and pointing each of his palms at the sphere, stopping it in its tracks.

Everyone stared in amazement, including Iblis.

"This is for all you've done to the future..." Silver said. "And for messing with my friends!"

He threw the large ball back at the large monster, which collided, causing him to stagger. When he regained his balance, the first thing he saw was a silver hedgehog slamming his palm onto his nose with so much force, it caused a small crater to form, which glowed blue from the psycho-kinesis.

"Now leave our future alone!" Silver screamed, exploding Iblis's head with enough force to launch him back over to the foothold, which he fell into face first.

"Silver, that was-" Sonic started.

"No time." Silver said, reaching his arm out to Sonic. "I need your emerald."

"What are you planning on?" Sonic asked.

"I'm going to seal Iblis in my body." Silver said. "If Storm can do it, so can I."

"You're sort of insane." Sonic said, with a frown, earning an angry look. His from broke into a smirk, as he passed him the emerald. "It's not like anything I'll say will stop you, though."

The two exchanged nods, before Silver turned to where Iblis was earlier, only to see him float out of the hole.

"It doesn't matter what you do to me here and now." Iblis said. "Somewhere, there's another version of myself, with a lot more potential than what I have here and now."

"Then we'll take him down, too." Silver said, holding his emerald in one hand, and holding Sonic's in the other. He crossed his arms over each other, and the flames from Iblis to the emeralds, yet green beams of light struck Silver. "But right now, I'll need your soul, and if you won't let me have it, I'll just have to take it by force!"

"Try all you like, but I will never give my soul up to someone like you!" Iblis shouted.

Silver grunted, hardening his face, until Blaze held the emerald in his left hand. "How about me?"

Iblis hardened his own face. "Why would I give my soul to you of all people?"

"You have no choice, if I want to." Blaze said, taking the emeralds from Silver. "You already gave me a small piece. I'm ready for the whole thing!"

She held the two emeralds out in Iblis's direction, causing the fire from his body to transfer directly into the cat.

"Silver, as soon as this is finished, I want you to use Chaos Control to send us to another dimension." Blaze said.

"What!? No, I'm not going to do that to you!" Silver said.

"You were wiling to have it done to yourself, why not to another?" Blaze asked.

Silver opened his mouth to protest, but then realized he had nothing to use against her. "Alright, I'll do it."

"Go ahead." Iblis said. "But you will regret it. Don't say I didn't warn you."

With those last words said, he disappeared into Blaze's body, who then handed Silver the emeralds.

"You were my best friend, Blaze. I'm gonna miss you a lot." Silver said, giving Sonic back his emerald, before holding out his own. "Chaos Control!"

With those two words said, Blaze warped away. Even Silver had no idea where she and Iblis ended up.

A FEW HOURS LATER

"Ah, good. I see you all made it out safe." Shadow said, as the people who fought Iblis arrived at the meeting place, where Cream, ML, Rouge, and Shadow were waiting. "Wait, where's Storm?"

"He wasn't with you?" Sonic asked.

"He was." Shadow said. "After we defeated Mephiles, he ran off looking for you guys."

"Wait, there's another one missing." Rouge said. "Where's the cat?"

Everyone looked at Silver, who looked down at the ground. "Gone."

"Hmph. Just like what I told the kid." Shadow said. "If you aren't strong enough, you should stay the hell away."

"Shut up..." Silvery muttered.

"Hm?" Shadow hummed. "I'm sorry, I didn't hear what you said."

"I said shut up!" Silver screamed, aiming a punch for Shadow, using his Psycho-Kinesis to hold him in place. It would have connected if Sonic hadn't held him back.

"Silver, it's not worth hitting Shadow!" Sonic shouted. "And Shadow, if it weren't for Blaze, NONE of our group would have made it out! She did more for us than you ever did for us!"

This caused Shadow's ear to twitch. "You mind repeating that, buddy?"

"What?" Sonic asked.

"Yeah. Repeat what you just said. How that brat did more for about 8 people than I did." Shadow said. "What about that time I used Chaos Control to keep Biolizard from crashing into the Earth, sacrificing everything except my ring. Or maybe that time I froze an entire planet still for eternity, again, sacrificing myself in the process?"

"We had those under control!" Sonic shouted. "It wasn't my fault you pooled all of your energy into warping Biolizard when I could have offered just as much, and I could have helped with the whole planet situation!"

"Oh, as if you really could have done anything to help!" Shadow said.

"Maybe you just didn't want help! Maybe you just have a massive ego!" Sonic shouted. "Or maybe the reason you're being like this is because of what you failed to do to help Maria!"

Chris stared at Sonic, scared. What is he thinking, mentioning that to Shadow?

Shadow's eye widened in anger, as he threw a Chaos Spear at Sonic. "Don't you dare mention her name! You have no idea what it's like having a burden on yourself of knowing you failed to protect someone!"

Shadow was about to go in for a punch, but something held him back.

"Leave it alone, Shadow." Storm said. "Things could get nasty if I have to get serious, and I don't just mean for you."

Shadow stared at him, before shaking his arm free. "Fine. I won't do anything. Let's just head back to our own time."

He walked away without a fight, and everybody stared at Storm, save for Silver, who was still depressed about Blaze.

"How did you convince Shadow, of all people, to do anything he was against?" Rouge asked.

"He prefers not to unleash the beast." Storm said, before walking away. "Everything will have been for nothing if he did."

"Does anyone know what that was about?" Chris asked.

"I do." Silver said. "A few years in the past of your present, he had Iblis injected into his body. By himself from the future. Before, having it release was one thing, but..."

"But what?" Sonic asked.

"But now, he has Mephiles in the mix, too." Silver said. "If we get him in a bad mood, it could be disastrous."

"Wouldn't it just be like what happened?" Chris asked.

Silver shook his head. "If those two are released now, they will combine their powers into one. No place in no time will be safe."

"Alright. Anything else we should know?" Knuckles asked.

Silver looked him dead in the eye. "Keep him away from Dr. Eggman."

BACK TO THE PAST

"Well, I'm finished my whole reason for being here." Storm said, tossing the scepter in the air and catching it repeatedly. "What's next?"

"I'll tell you what's next." a familiar voice said, coming from a nearby tree. Storm looked to see Dr. Eggman floating in his little floating car, with Metal Sonic next to him. "You give me that scepter, and I won't have to hurt you."

Storm chuckled. "You? Hurt me?" he asked, holding the scepter like a sword. "You must be in over your head if you think you or your metal friend still stand a chance against me."

"And what can you do with that as a weapon?" Dr. Eggman asked. "Surely you don't intend to beat Metal Sonic over the head with it."

Storm grinned. "Well, maybe. Why don't you come and find out?"

Dr. Eggman stared at the red hedgehog. "Metal Sonic, go retrieve that scepter."

The metallic hedgehog raced forward, only to be stopped by Storm swinging the scepter at him, spouting darkness at him like a sword.

"What!?" Dr. Eggman exclaimed. "But your fur is red! How can you be controlling the darkness in the scepter!?"

"I'm not." Storm said. "I'm just guiding it."

The red hedgehog then proceeded to run past Metal Sonic, creating a blade of darkness from the scepter, and slicing Eggman' car in half.

"If you'll excuse me, now, I have places to be." Storm said, as he continued walking away.

Metal Sonic didn't give up, though. It flew at Storm, and attempted to jab its hand into his heart.

However, its hand was trapped in a wall of darkness, mysteriously protruding from the scepter.

"Hey, I never said I HAD to guide the darkness. It just wants me alive." Storm said.

"Wants you alive, hmm?" Dr. Eggman asked, climbing out of his broken car. Could this mean what I think it means?

"Something wrong, Eggman?" Storm asked.

"Storm... Do you desire more power?" Eggman asked.

Storm looked at him, curiously. "Why would I need it?"

"Well, it occurs to me that many things in this life are stronger than you. Don't you wish to protect the people you love from them?" Eggman lied, and Storm knew it. He had some ulterior motive. But he might have gotten a little curious.

"Go on, keep talking." he said, putting a very large grin on Eggman's face.

If Storm ever actually IS the fate of the universe, we might as well surrender now.

Anyways, hope you liked this chapter. If you did, leave a suggestion on how I can improve the story. That one about involving Chris more was good, he's going to have a very large role near the end with one last gem, which was planned to be added into the game but never was... I mean, I'll be tweaking it slightly, but whatever, nearly the same thing.

See ya next time!
