Chapter 14

(A/N:) So you lovely people, I have a surprise for you...Today you get two chapters! I decided to go ahead and post chapters 14 and 15 today. Chapter 16, the Epilogue will be posted tomorrow. I charged him. He seemed to disappear and then reappear behind me. He hit me from behind. I fell but rolled forward and got up swinging my bad axes at him. I sliced him but he regenerated. He raised his hands and lightening came from the sky. I closed my eyes and built my smack hands to block it but as soon as the lightening hit me my smack hands shattered. He summoned lightening again and again I formed smack hands. Once more it shattered. He did it a third time but this time my hands glowed blue and then shields popped out. I saw that they deflected the lightening. Block Party. I thought to myself.

Van Kleiss scowled as he tried the lightening one more time. I formed my block party and this time aimed the lightening back at him. He was a little surprised when he was hit. Hehe.

Before he could recover I attacked him with my blaster castor. I wrapped him in the whip and electrocuted him. The force blew us both back. Van Kleiss looked at his hands.

"This isn't right." He muttered." I should have more power than this. Something's wrong."

He ran to the machine but I knocked him back with my funchucks. He glared at me. Then he flew off. Great he can fly now. I was about to chase after him but I heard coughing come from behind me. I turned and ran to Circe. I carefully propped her up in my arms.

She looked at me and smiled. "Hey." She said.

"Hey." I answered.

"You were right about Van Kleiss." She said. Then she started coughing. Alarmed, I notice blood coming from her mouth.

"Don't talk. Save your energy." I felt my tears come to my eyes. I blinked them away.

"Rex, I want you to know it was never about me using you." Her voice got softer and I had to bend lower to hear her.

"Rex, stop him and save the world. Be the hero I know you are." She closed her eyes. No! No! No! It can't end this way. It can't. Not again! It reminded me of Rylander. He had said the same thing.

"Circe, "I said softly shaking her my voice cracking."Circe, please. Wake up."

But I knew there was no waking up. I bent my head as tears blinded me.

"Mijo, I'm sorry." Without thinking I got up and punched him. Figures were blurry from the tears but I could make out enough to kill him.

"Wait!" He said alarmed. "I can explain. But not now we don't have much time and so much is at stake."

"You're talking like a crazy person. And I'm through listening. "I said hoarsely.

"No, your friends are still alive. I put them in suspended animation so that Van Kleiss would think they were dead. I had to get the meta-nanites together. There's a fail safe. Van Kleiss can't get all its power. But we need to stop him before he does any more damage." Caesar was rambling and not making any sense.

But I did understand one thing. "Doc and Six are alive? Where?"

"I'll take you to them."

"Okay but if this is a trick I'm going to grind you into nanite dust." I threatened him.

"No trick, mijo." Caesar promised.

I formed my rex ride. "Get on and lead the way."

A few minutes later we were at the mouth of a cave.

I blinked. "They're in there? How did you get them in the cave?"

"It's not a cave. He got off and pressed a button. The cave disappeared.

"Hologram. Very real hologram. Something I've been working on." Caesar said.

I gawked at the soldiers frozen in time. I saw Six in mid run. I could see Holiday and Bobo in a truck. White Knight looked like he was in the middle of giving orders.

"Unfreeze them." I demanded. Caesar took out some strange ray gun and shot a beam. Immediately everyone started moving. But they were disoriented. A few were rubbing their heads. Six shook his head and then saw Caesar. He moved to attack him but I stopped him.

"Wait Six. We still need him. I need to know what exactly he means by fail safe and that Van Kleiss can't have the full powers of the meta-nanites." I told him.

"Yes, I'm curious about that too." Van Kleiss said as he floated above us. Behind him an army of EVOs appeared. The soldiers behind me got into their battle stance. Caesar suddenly lifted off the ground. Van Kleiss was pulling Caesar towards him.

"Oh no you don't!" I formed my sky slyder and without thinking formed by BFS. It took me a second to realize that I could make two builds at once. Rather than feel elated I was angry at myself that I didn't try sooner. But I channeled my anger into smacking Van Kleiss in his smug little face.

He ducked but it was enough to loosen his concentration on my brother who fell to the ground. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Six catch him.

Van Kleiss gave the order to his army, "Attack! Take no prisoners!"

The EVOs rushed at the resistance group. I heard White Knight yell out orders. I knew they were in good hands down there. I was more interested in taking down the psychopath before me.

"Even with only a fifth of the meta-nanite's power I can easily defeat you." Van Kleiss declared.

"Yeah, care to back those words up." I attacked him again with my BFS. He disappeared again and did that annoying reappearing act. But I figured out that he was turning back time so I swung where I hadn't before and managed by luck to hit him. But he engulfed me in a fireball. I formed my boogie pack to blow it away. The turbines iced up but luckily I was still on my sky slyder so I didn't fall. Unluckily, he waved his hand and I flew down. I hit the ground pretty hard and as I tried to get up a bolt of lightening shot through me. I screamed and then felt the world grow dark.

As I floated in the darkness of space, I saw a vision of a giant mech robot. The robot raised its hand and blasted away Van Kleiss. It saw me and reached out its hand. I reached mine out to grab it but then I was falling, falling trying to grab its hand. I jerked awake.

This time when I came to, I saw Holiday and Six looking at me worriedly.

"I saw a robot." I croaked out.

Six looked startled. "What did you say?"

I sat up and looked at him. "I saw a robot in my dream. I think something like that can stop Van Kleiss." I looked around me. The battle was still raging.

"How long was I out?" I looked at Doc.

"Just a few minutes. Van Kleiss joined the battle and is wiping the floor with us." She said angrily.

An explosion went off near us and Six covered both me and Holiday with his body.

He straightened up. "Listen kid, when I found you in that rubble years ago. You were a giant robot terrorizing the streets. When I stopped you, you couldn't remember anything."

I looked at Six. "Are you telling me that I can become a robot but if I do I can become a rampaging monster with no memories of my past 5 years?"

Six thought about it. "Yes." He said flatly.

"Well, gee thanks for being so blunt. You could have sugar coated it." I grumbled.

"Look, Rex. I can't tell you what to do. It's your decision." Six said.

"Then there is no decision. My friends need me." I got up. Holiday held one side and Six the other. I tested to see how steady I was. I pulled the goggles over my eyes. I gave them both a smirk and a salute. I formed my boogie pack and flew off to face Van Kleiss.
