Ok next chapter.
sorry I was on vacation in Disney! Anyway I replaced the 26th chapter if you want to go read that. It's short but I get my point across.
I don't own ROTG and I don't own this beginning quote for it belongs to Lilo & Stitch. That's what happens when you vacation in Disney for a week.
Anyway onto the one shot!
Family means nobody's left behind or forgotten
- Lilo & Stitch
The Guardians were in the mountains looking for a child Jack had found while traveling. He explained that the parents were looking but the child had wandered off into a dangerous area where rock slides happened often. The child couldn't see Jack so that's why he got the others.
"You just need to get him to the cabin in the woods we passed by." Jack explained as they neared the dangerous area. "It's not in the range of this place should a rock slide happen and it's also where his family is staying for the week. I don't know why he ran off yet so keep an eye out."
Jack slowly led them to where he'd seen the child and surprisingly the boy was still there but now that Jack wasn't in such a rush to help him he saw the boy was clutching a small dog to his chest. Just as Jack was about to turn and tell Bunny to stay back, the other four walked passed him and towards they child. The little boy, who was curled in a corner, looked up at the sound of them approaching and gasped.
"It's ok little one." North whispered, "We'll get you home. You can trust us. I'm Santa, that's the Tooth Fairy, that is the Sandman, and The Easter Bunny."
"Wow." The child breathed. It was then North noticed the dog with the child but, before he could tell Bunny to back away, the dog saw him and began to growl. And before anyone could react, it barked. The sound echoed throughout the area and then, after a few seconds, it all went silent. Then a loud sound of collapsing earth sounded and the ground shook.
Looking up they watched as rocks came tumbling down.
"Get him out of here." Jack said getting his staff ready to form a shield.
"Jack-" Tooth began.
"Go!" Jack interrupted, "He can't see me anyway so if you leave with him he can't be scarred that badly if I get crushed! So go! I'll join you all soon!" With that, just as North picked up the boy and the dog, Jack made the wind push them away as he set up a shield of ice hopping to hold off the rocks.
The Guardians were hesitant to leave but quickly remembered the child. They ran, or flew, as fast as they could back down the mountain and to the cabin. Once they reached it, North put the child down at the back door and they told him to go in. Once the child was gone the four looked at each other. They all agreed on what to do without any words. Bunny then took off back in the direction of Jack.
When he got there he paused at the sight he saw. There was Jack as he struggled to hold up a cracking ice wall, bare feet digging into the ground, eyes clenched, and teeth grinding together. You see, Jack had not left as he just knew the Guardians would come back.
"Jack." There it is. "Jack you can let go now the kid's safe so now you just have to be safe."
"Go away." Jack growled, "You and the others need to get out of here!"
"Without you? Not on your nelly." Bunny said as he hopped over to the winter spirit. But about a foot away he heard the ice crack more and the wind forcibly push him away.
"Get out of here. I-I don't want you to get hurt or…die." Jack breathed out the last part. "Just go get safe!"
"Jack." Bunny began but stopped when he saw a rather large crack form in the ice. Jack tried to reinforce it but the strain was too much. The ice shattered and Bunny shot forward, grabbed the half-conscious boy, and hopped into a tunnel narrowly being buried by the avalanche. The tunnel opened up near the cabin and the two tumbled out of it and near the other Guardians.
"Jack! Bunny! You live!" North shouted in greeting.
"Oh my Sweet-Tooth!" Tooth exclaimed fluttering around the rabbit the held the boy.
"Why didn't you leave me?" Jack whispered, "You could have been killed. I at least know how it is to die already."
"Because Frostbite, none of us could stand it if you got crushed up there and we had to wait for you to come back. You're family and we don't want you dead as much as you don't want us to be. Besides you drowned when you died and didn't get crushed by bolders." Bunny explained.
Jack peaked up through his bangs at him, "You do care." But he sounded tired as he spoke and yawned not soon after, trying to hold back an avalanche took a lot out of him. The wind came down and ruffled his hair, causing Jack to close his eyes. Sandy then came over and sprinkled dream-sand upon his eyes. They all smiled. Yes they're a family.
Yep that's what happens when you vacation in Disney.
Anyway feel free to check out chapter 26, suggest, comment, flame, etc.
Until next time! :D
