Ok next chapter. HAPPY 4TH OF JULY TO ALL OF YOU WHO CELEBRATE IT!
This chapter is short but had to be done. I don't own ROTG or The 4th of July.
Anyway onto the chapter!
Jack dragged all of the Guardians, and Baby Tooth, to Burgess. It was about ten at night when they reached his lake. There were four chairs set up and the Burgess seven were there as well. Jack had explained they were going there to see the fireworks since it was the 4th of July. The Guardians had protested at first saying it was too warm for Jack and Sandy and Tooth needed to work. Jack had said most children would still be up and the baby teeth could survive without Tooth for a while. When the heat was brought up again Jack told them it would be night so it wasn't as hot and that he could survive for a little while. In the end Jack won.
Jack led each Guardian to a chair and told them to all sit and wait. Then he leapt up upon his staff with Baby Tooth sitting upon his head.
The kids and spirits were seated around Jack's unfrozen pond, waiting.
"Frostbite," Bunny sighed, "Let Tooth and Sandy go work. There's nothing g-" He was cut off by a large bang! Looking up they all saw the fireworks explode into different colors. Some sparkled after exploding some didn't explode at all. Either way, everyone was mesmerized by the exploding colors in the sky.
Jack, who crouched upon his staff in the middle of everyone, shouted, "Happy 4th of July!" You see Jack had seen these fireworks many times over the years since it was started because even though it was summer, he still liked to fly in and one time came on this day. He memorized the date and always came back to see the fireworks. But before the years were never truly happy. Amazing and beautiful, yes but never really happy. He would see families and friends getting together to see these and he had no one. He would watch the fireworks with a sad smile.
But now he was happy. He was finally celebrating this day with others who could see him. Looking to his left Jack could see another person watching. The golden eyes soon met blue and Jack gave him a warm smile, gesturing for Pitch to come over near them. But the Nightmare King did not move so Jack mouthed a happy 4th of July to him. Then they both turned back to the fireworks. Above the booming lights showed the moon. MiM watched the group and glowed brightly with happiness.
Soon the children went home to sleep and Tooth and Sandy went to work. Bunny went back to Warren and North took the half asleep Jack back to the Pole.
That night they all dreamt of the fireworks and watching them together.
