Hi guys, again! Here is another chapter! As I said in my Author's Note, I apologize for the delay. I will try to update more regularly now, and I promise I won't take month-long breaks anymore. Not that I was exactly relaxing in the holidays… I did more than 20 mock exams.
Also, I don't think I mentioned in the description that this is a Drarry, and a Ronmione (Is that how you say it?) but there will be nothing too mature. The worst is kissing, okay? I'm not going to write a lemon in this story, so I'm very sorry if you thought I would.
Also, does any of you guys watch Markiplier or Jacksepticeye? Think they are awesome dudes. And I also have an idea, would you guys mind if I also wrote a Fanfiction where they were forced into a game they had played? I'm thinking of The Windlands (from Jacksepticeye) or the bomb game Jack played with Bob. It's just an idea, and if you guys wanted to see it, I'm completely open to the idea. Let me know in the comments.
"I have my first bonding lesson with Malfoy after breakfast!" Harry cried in despair. Hermione and Ron stared at him in shock; the girls around him stopped short and immediately began to crowd around him. Harry just barely managed to keep his glasses on his nose as he pushed his way through the crowd after Ron.
Hermione lowered her voice. "Harry, you do know that Malfoy won't easily be fooled by our glamour charms?" Harry nodded miserably. "So you've got to be extra careful around him." Hermione straightened her robes as they reached the Great Hall doors. At this point, the flood of excited wizards and witches had not yet ceased, so when Harry entered they grudgingly left for their own table. With the disruption though, many people did not notice Harry in amongst the throng. For once he was grateful for all the younger years causing so much noise.
Sliding into his seat, he kept his head down and tried to eat as quickly as possible. Ron and Hermione copied him, though Ron was decidedly more successful at wolfing down his food due to years of practise. The fact that crumbs were rapidly forming a mountain below him was another issue entirely. Harry and Hermione exchanged a little knowing look and returned to their breakfast. The rest of Gryffindor, however, had noticed the lack of Ron's loud mouth.
"Hey, are you guys ok today?" Ginny bounced in her seat, flashing them an encouraging smile. "Has the ferret gotten to you already, Harry?"
"Yeah, it can't be that bad. After all, it is the first day." Neville said. He received a gloomy look.
"I've got the bonding lesson with Malfoy after this." Harry cast a Tempus charm and sighed resignedly. "In fact, I'd better go. I don't want to be late, no matter how much I loathe him and his arrogance." He left the table without further complaint.
Harry tried not to attract too much attention, walking briskly and hiding his face in his wild hair. At least now it was proving itself a little useful, providing him coverage. He glanced around the hall. Where was Malfoy? Shaking his head, he quickly refocused on trying to get back to his rooms and avoid the student population. I should be thankful for not running into him yet. He shuddered. Better not jinx it by wondering where he is.
When he reached the fairly familiar door, he hissed the password. Claw flicked his tail in greeting and swung open the door before curling up and lazily ushering Harry inside. The halls were quiet since most people were still eating breakfast and the rooms he shared with Malfoy seemed no different. After he looked around a bit he noticed a door that had not been there before. He frowned, contemplating the possibility of it being a trick set by Malfoy. After inspecting it for a few moments, he decided that it was probably safe to go into. He checked that his concealing and glamour charms were still working. Hoping that Malfoy, and the teachers, if they were in there, wouldn't notice his ears and eyes, he opened the door and stepped inside.
To his relief, Dumbledore (A/N: I sometimes forget who I give to each pair. If you could tell me in a review, that would be great.) was waiting for him inside. Unfortunately, Malfoy was also there, glaring at him impatiently.
"Mr Potter! How good of you to join us." Dumbledore greeted him cheerily. Malfoy rolled his eyes. "Well, lets get started, shall we?" He clapped his hands together and looked from Harry to Malfoy. Whereas Harry forced a smile and nodded, Malfoy grudgingly muttered in affirmation.
"So, since this is the first lesson for bonding, we should get to know each other a little more. Today we'll be sharing memories of the past with each other. First we'll exchange our happiest memories, then our scariest, or worst memory in our childhood. Understood?" What?! Dumbledore didn't give them any time to protest. "Take out your wands, please, gentlemen."
They both drew their wands and pointed it at Dumbledore. He murmured an incantation and drew two silvery strands from both Harry and Malfoy's wand. He placed it into two jars and handed the jars to the boys.
"Well then, your homework is to go through these memories. Remember, this is your homework, so please don't share them with anybody." Once both boys nodded, he exited the room, leaving the two boys. They stared awkwardly at each other, or rather, Harry just stood there awkwardly and Malfoy was staring with narrowed eyes. It was clear that he was suspecting something. I should probably leave now... Harry thought.
"Um..." He shifted toward the door. "Well, I'll, uh, see you in the next lesson...?" There was no response from Malfoy. "Okay then... Bye."
Harry slipped out and when the door closed he let out a tense breath. He looked at the swirling strands in his jar. I should probably just get this over and done with. He sighed and headed into his room. Closing the door, he wondered why Malfoy hadn't left the room yet. Not that he cared, he just couldn't quit his suspicious habit. Shrugging, he opened the jar lid and poked his wand into the swirling mass. He immediately felt the same jolting sensation he felt when he entered Snape's pensieve and closed his eyes. Once he felt solid ground beneath him, he opened them again.
He could see a younger version of Malfoy playing in the back garden of Malfoy Manor. It must have been in springtime as warm sunshine streamed in in between the leaves of the large maple tree Malfoy's younger version was beneath. Harry curiously approached him, then remembered that it was only a memory. Malfoy seemed to be stroking a snowy owl. It looked a bit like Hedwig. Harry watched Malfoy playing with it for a while, then felt the scene around him changing. He looked around, wondering why. Then he heard Lucius Malfoy's voice. He seemed to be striding towards Draco, and he sounded cross. Draco must have noticed, too, because he immediately looked up and squeaked in fear when he saw his frowning father looming over him.
"Draco. Why are you looking after undeserving creatures like that owl?" Lucius sneered, kicking the owl with his polished boot. Draco bowed his head in apology.
"Sorry, father."
"We are getting rid of the owl in the morning. You are not to have any pets again. Is that understood?" Lucius glared down at his son.
"Yes, father." Draco's voice was small and quiet. Once his father turned and headed back inside, he stroked his owl again before lifting it.
He petted it's head for the last time and lifted it to the sky. "Go. Fly away, and don't come back. Father will kill you if you do." The owl hooted and flapped into the sky. Malfoy watched it go, then looked down and smoothed his robes. The only sign of his sadness was a small trace in his eyes, but his cool mask quickly replaced it. It was clear that from a young age he had been trained to show no emotion.
With that, the memory ended and Harry was pulled back out into his room. He set the jar back on his bedside table, secured the lid, and exited.
"I need a drink."
Sorry if this is a short chapter, I've got to go to school now D: I like school, just our teacher is a little to strict. Anyways, I hope you enjoyed the chapter!
