Anywho onto the chapter!

They Guardians watched as Jack lay on his bed, pain covering his face. Ice had spread over the sheets but Jack seemed not to notice. He only focused on clutching his chest.

"Jack are you alright?" Tooth asked.

"I-I ne-eed…my staff." Jack gasped out. The pain he hasn't felt since that Easter years ago came back full force. He felt like his power was trying to rip out of him and the weakening of his staff. He needed to get his staff back for he never tried to control his powers without it's balance and with the tiredness he was already facing, everything was just painful.

"The Yetis are looking for it now. Jack, is this what you had told us about?" North asked. He remembered Jack telling them about the pains of his staff breaking but they didn't expect it to have this big of an effect. Jack nodded, jerkily as another ripple of pain spiked through his chest.

"Is there anything we can do?" Tooth asked. Jack shook his head. He just needed to get his staff and he'd be fine. But Tooth was determined. "There must be something!"

"I just need to fix my staff." Jack grunted out, "Otherwise…I don't know. The l-last time this…happened I-I ha-d som-ethin-g else to think a-about."

"Do you think some pain medication will help?" Bunny asked. Jack once again shook his head. "What about sleep? Could dreams distract you?"

"No! No sleep!" Jack exclaimed shooting up but falling back down in pain on to the ground, more ice spreading from where he lied.

Sandy frowned. He knew Jack need sleep and just maybe the calm of the dreams might calm Jack down so he wasn't gasping in pain and his powers would stop shooting out in his panic and pain. So Sandy got a ball of dream-sand in his hand and prepared to throw it. Jack shook his head franticly but it was futile as he soon was hit with the golden sand.

Bunny caught Jack before his head hit the floor and placed him back in his bed, golden dolphins dancing above his head. There was a knock at the door and it opened to a yeti standing there. It began to speak to North.

"Have your Yetis found his stick yet?" Bunny asked once they finished talking.

North nodded, "They found one part of it." North then showed the top half of the staff with the curve.

"You mean they don't know where the other half is?" Tooth asked, worried tainting her words.

"Yes." North said, "It was either kicked somewhere else or the…elves got to it." They others physically winced at the thought of the elves possessing the other half of the staff.

"Well while Jackie rests we can go search for the other half." Bunny said. While Tooth and North nodded in agreement, Sandy put an x above his head.

"You don't want to search for staff?" North questioned. Sandy nodded then motioned and signed about staying and keeping watch on Jack and his dreams.

"Sandy has a point." Tooth said, "Jack had obviously not wanted to sleep. Jack doesn't need any nightmares right now and if he woke Sandy could calm him down." North and Bunny agreed and the three left Sandy with Jack and the half of the staff.

Jack laughed as he played with dolphins and froze waves. He was having a great time when suddenly his staff vanished from his grip and his chest began to ache. He began to fall through suffocating darkness when he just stopped and collapsed to his knees, clutching his chest on the dark floor.

"Oh boohoo, your staff is gone. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA Pathetic! You should just give up this fight already!"

"No. I-I won't g-give up!"

"Oh but you're causing unnecessary pain. Not that I don't mind! HA I can't wait until your will is broken!"

"Shut up!"

"No! In fact you should listen to the pained screams of the victims of those beautiful storms!"

Then screams and cries of pain, fear, and sorrow filled Jack's ears along with the malicious laughter of the voice. It was torture listening to this and Jack screamed along with it as he clutched his ears.

"STOP IT! PLEASE STOP IT!" Jack screamed. And if that wasn't bad the pain of his unbalanced power, triggered by his distress, shot painfully through his chest. It was so over whelming that Jack did want to give up right there. But then gold shot through and all the noises silenced. The pain in his chest vanished and when Jack opened his eyes he saw he was in the middle of a snowball fight.

Smiling Jack joined in.

Sandy sighed. It wasn't long after the others left that the golden sand above Jack's head began to turn black and Jack began screaming, ice shooting across the bed as he screamed. Sandy quickly got to work in changing the dream. As Jack settled back down, Sandy looked to the door, expecting the others to burst through because of the scream.

And, just as he expected, the door slammed open and in came the other Guardians.

"What happened?!"

"Is Jack ok?!"

"Was it Pitch?!"

"Are you ok?!"

"Why is there more ice?!"

Sandy scowled and snapped a whip, silencing them. Sandy pointed to the now peacefully sleeping Jack and motioned them to the door. The others nodded in understanding and left to look for the other half of the staff.

As time passed while the other's searched for the staff, Sandy kept Jack sleeping peacefully. Whenever Jack seemed to be waking, Sandy would just dowse him with more dream-sand. He didn't want Jack waking up and feeling the pain and freaking out. Besides he needed the sleep.

And as Sandy continued to watch Jack, the others were looking everywhere for the other half of Jack's staff. They checked all the nooks and corners. Every room and hallway. But they couldn't find it. But then again, they couldn't find half of the elves either.

"Where could it be?" Tooth asked.

"I don't know." North answered.

"Did you ask the elves, mate?" Bunny asked.

"Yes but there are some that are missing right now."

"Is there a secret room or something?" Tooth asked, "Anywhere that only the elves and you might know?"

North thought for a moment before motioning for them to follow him. They went down many elevators and stairs until they reached a very simple room.

"This is where elves sleep so we aren't disturbed. Not that they stay down here." North said. With that he opened the door and sure enough there were elves playing around and chasing each other with the other half of Jack's staff.

North cleared his throat gaining the attention of all the elves. "We shall be taking that." With that North walked over and took the half of the staff from the elf and the Guardians then left. Going back up to Jack's room.

Oh MiM that was better! It was beautifully longer then the last at I'm just so happy!

Ok for those of you who were wondering on my take of the staff this will explain. What I feel like is that if you break Jack's staff it wont turn him human nor leave scars on his body. I feel like it balances his power so it doesn't go out of control when he's expressing emotions like excitement. Since he is one of the youngest, if not youngest, spirit in body having the power of winter at his fingertips would be a lot so the staff is the conduct that helps control said power. Both Jack and the staff focus the power back and fourth evenly keeping the winter powers in control. When the staff is injured it's ability to keep the balance weakens sending more magic back to Jack causing him pain. If the staff breaks it's like all of Jack's power comes rushing back into him and, not knowing how to control it without his staff, he tries to keep from loosing control causing him pain. He can fix the staff because it's the only thing he can conduct his magic through and keep balance. If said conduct is destroyed Jack is forced to keep all his magic within himself instead of doing a circle from the staff to him. He could learn how to use his powers without his staff but it would take time. I have no problem with other ideas on this like it turns his human or what not, this is just for me. I think this because I think back on when he found it on the lake.

But then there is the fact of how it looks when it's not in Jack's hands. You may think how does my opinion fit with that well I'll tell you. While it just becomes a regular shepherd's crook in another's hands because it was only made for Jack, no one else can use it. Jack's power isn't as strong because he is still having the equal balance, just not directly. If the staff left Jack for a long time that balance would weaken but slowly, unless it was broken or destroyed. Jack himself could always cut off the connection and take all of winter but why should he? The staff was from his human life and it's easier to control his magic with, even if it is more painful when broken.

If I missed any facts or you have any questions on this feel free to tell me. I would also let you feel free to tell me what you think of this opinion. I'm not saying mine is right nor am I saying it's wrong. I've even favorited other great stories that don't think this. In fact I don't even know if anyone else feels this way. But I'm not bashing anyones ideas. Like I said feel free to tell me what you think.

Until next time! :D
