Gibbs arrived in Tel Aviv at 5:00 PM, he was greeted by an uncommonly busy airport. He weaved his way through the thick crowd and managed to find a taxi. He turned his phone on and saw that Dinozzo had called and left a message, he wanted to listen to it but had never learned how on his new phone. He silently cursed technology, and after 15 minutes of fiddling with it, the damn phone went dead. He had not brought a charger, in fact he hadn't brought anything at all, he had come all the way to Tel Aviv for the sole purpose of killing Tony. Out of all the people Kelly could date how could she end up with Tony, a man years older than her who had quite possibly the worst track record with women. By the time the taxi reached the Sheraton, Gibbs was boiling with rage, he paid the driver and marched to the front desk. He handed his badge over to the attendant and demanded Tony's room number. The nervous attendant called a bell boy over and asked him to show Gibbs up to room 411. Gibbs made to argue "I can go myself I don't need assistance opening a door." he said glaring. The bell boy faced him squarely and leaving no room for argument said "Sir it's the hotel policy I go with you or we don't go at all." Gibbs gave him a long searching look then nodded and followed him into the nearest elevator. Gibbs knocked on the door loudly several times. After a moment the bell boy handed Gibbs a key and they both walked inside. Gibbs looked around there was no sign of Tony or Kelly, but he noticed with a pang only one bed. "He better be sleeping on the floor" Gibbs muttered to himself. He peeked into the bathroom and saw only a jumble of clothes on the floor, makeup lining the sink, and with another pang a woman's lacy bra draped over the tub. "I'm going to kill him" Gibbs said again this time more audibly. The bell boy who had followed him in said "excuse me sir, I didn't quite catch that." Gibbs turned " Do you know where the guests staying in this room might be?" The boy shook his head, "not exactly, but almost all our guests are attending the state dinner tonight." Gibbs nodded of course, he'd specifically told Tony that per Director Morrow he had to attend the dinner, no matter how pointless it was likely to be. After getting directions, Gibbs was in another taxi on his way to the dinner. The enormous wooden doors stood open, and two special agents, probably Mossad, guarded the door. After carefully inspecting Gibbs badge, and making a call to their director he was hesitantly welcomed in. He was in what seemed to be a large somewhat old fashioned ball room, dozens of people milled about, drinking wine and chatting to those close to them. After scanning the room several times he caught Dinozzo out of the corner of his eye and started walking that direction. He had his arm around Kelly, who wore and elegant long form fitting black dress with a slit all the way up her thigh. They were deep in conversation with a middle eastern woman with curly brown hair and a man Gibbs recognized to be Deputy director Eli David. He was about halfway toward them when a red headed woman with her back to him turned around. He stopped dead as their eyes met, she blinked her large pale green eyes at him and looked slightly nervous as she approached him. Jenny Sheppard was wearing a long green dress that brought out her eyes and showed off the curves that Gibbs had tried to forget about for so long. "Jethro, I dint think you came to things like this." She said as evenly as possible. " Lot you don't know about me these days Jen." He replied as kindly as he could muster. There was an uncomfortable long pause, broken finally when Jenny said " It's cold in here isn't it?" Gibbs locked eyes with her and said " Yeah Jen, must get cold when you leave your jackets lying around on airplane seats." She blinked her eyes at the insult, and for a second she looked like the young inexperienced agent Gibbs had known all those years ago. She started to say something, but Gibbs cut across her "Save it, you were always ambitious, I should have known you'd do whatever it took to get to the top." He put his hand on her shoulder, gave her one last look and walked off towards where Tony had last been.

He marched up to the group, and was too close to turn around, when he noticed that Tony had gone, it was only Kelly, and Eli David left. Kelly turned when she heard him approaching and smiled, that smile that was so identical to Shannon's. "Kelly" he said quietly, she laughed softly " No I'm Kate, but close enough, Tony didn't mention that his boss was going to be here, but I can find him if you need to talk to him." She said warmly. At that moment Tony rejoined the group "Boss, what are you doing here he asked surprised." Gibbs jaw clenched, "Tony we need to talk, privately." Gibbs said quietly. Tony hesitated but Gibbs barked "Now, Tony!" and he had no choice but to follow his boss outside. Confused Tony asked " boss what's going-" but faltered with the look Gibbs gave him. It was a look Tony was all too familiar with, but had only ever seen it directed at murder suspects. Finally, Gibbs said in a deathly quiet voice "What are you doing with that girl, bringing her here?" "She's too young to be involved with you, Dinozzo, you could be putting her in danger!" Tony stared blankly, then said " You came all the way here to lecture me about my girlfriend?" Gibbs took a step toward him and stared at him directly in the eye, so angry he was almost speechless. Tony stared back trying to understand what Gibbs was so angry about. As he stared resolutely back at his boss he realized the eyes staring back were Kate's eyes, the same color, the same shape, and the same look she gave him when they were arguing. Tony let out a deep breath "Boss, Mike lied to me, Kate is Kelly? Kelly Gibbs isn't she." Gibbs took a step back as if Tony had hit him. Tony gasped "Boss how long have you known how could you not say anything?" Gibbs again shook his head "She's safer not knowing, and she's safer not knowing you Dinozzo." Tony started to protest but Gibbs cut him off "Send her home, then leave her alone." Gibbs turned and walked away giving Tony no time to argue. As he waited for a taxi outside, he saw Tony leading Kelly out of the front doors and towards the line of people waiting for taxis. He could see they were arguing, then watched her turn, shove past Tony, and step into a taxi.

One Month Later

Melanie Geer, stood in her pristine kitchen preparing dinner. She opened the fridge and pulled items out hurriedly. She was a little behind in the preparations, but wanted to hurry since her daughter Kate would be joining them for dinner. As Kate's college coursework had got more demanding these dinner visits had grown less and less frequent. However, after Kate and her boyfriend had broken up, she seemed much more inclined to come home. Kate wouldn't say what had happened between her and Tony, anytime Melanie tried to press her daughter she immediately clammed up or changed the subject. Therefore, Melanie was surprised to hear a knock on their front door. She wiped her hands on a dish towel and swung the door open to see none other than Kate's ex boyfriend standing there . "Tony" she said rather coolly "Kate's not here and I think she's made it clear she doesn't want to see you." Tony nodded " I actually wanted to speak with you, may I come inside?" Melanie hesitated for a moment, then said curtly "Sorry it's not a good time." as she made to close the door Tony held it and said "I know who her real parents are Melanie." Melanie, stared and opened the door so he could come in. They walked into the dining room and as they took a seat Melanie said " Her parents, they are dead, Richard and I saved her, and have raised her as our own what good would it do to tell her now?" Tony paused "Her father isn't dead, and I'm not going to lie to Kate, but I think the truth should come from you not me." Melanie shook her head "Her father is dead, he was KIA in the Gulf war, I think he was blown up." Melanie finally looked up "Tony, it was a Mexican cartel that killed her mother, we had to keep her safe." Tony opened his briefcase and pulled a file out, " Her father's alive, he did get blown up in the Gulf War, he isn't dead though, but he did have to come home from that war to bury a wife and daughter." Tony hesitated for a moment before handing the file to Melanie " It's all in there, even a DNA test, but you can do your own if you want. Oh, and one more thing her father, Special Agent Gibbs, he's my boss." Suddenly , there was a crash from the kitchen and both Tony and Melanie hopped up and ran around the corner to see Kate standing there with a mixed looks of horror and outrage on her face. A painful silence followed as Kate looked from her mother to Tony, then back to her mom "Is it true?" She asked in a remarkably even voice. Both Tony and Melanie started speaking very quickly all at once, Kate held up her hand "Explain" She said, this time with a note of anger in her voice.

Later that Evening

Gibbs was sitting in his basement sanding a rather unruly piece of wood when he heard the front door open, soft footsteps moved around the house, until they finally reached the basement door. He heard the door open, but still didn't turn to look at the uninvited visitor, he merely grabbed another piece of sandpaper and continued his work. " You know, it would be safer to lock your doors, Special Agent Gibbs." Said a tall blonde woman in a thick black sweatshirt holding a backpack and a Starbucks cup. Gibbs turned and raised his eyebrows "I don't need locks I have guns." Kate laughed, "You're not going to ask me why I'm here?" Gibbs shook his head " I figure you're probably going to tell me after coming all this way." Kate nodded, grabbed an empty mason jar, poured the steaming hot coffee in it and handed it to Gibbs as she walked around the basement "Who builds a boat in their basement, how on earth will you ever get it out?" She said with a note of indignation. Gibbs sipped the coffee, "You come all the way over here to talk about my boat, Kate? Kate sighed "No I guess I didn't" Kate said as she turned to face Gibbs "When I saw you in Israel, you called me Kelly-" Kate began, but was interrupted by Gibbs "Mistake, I used to know a Kelly a long time ago." Her eyes narrowed "Actually I don't think it was a mistake , Dad."
