H e stood up and held his hand out to her. "Come on you need sleep, Wilson" and for the first time that day he saw her smile. It may have not been a big one but he'd take any form of smile. She placed her hand into his and he helped her up and they walked into the house together before getting into bed and drifting off to sleep knowing that he was there to protect her.

*Four Weeks Later*

Jess was finally getting back to normal. It had taken a while but both Steve and Joe had convinced her to cut her hours right down at the bar meaning she could take her mind off of everything that had gone on. Nothing else had happened in the meantime so right now both Jess and Steve were entirely focused on enjoying the pregnancy. She was about twenty weeks now and spent nearly every waking moment looking at her bump. It was about noon when she was relaxing at home in the bath thinking about the scan she had at three that afternoon to find out what gender their baby was. She was taking Kono with her as Steve couldn't make it due to work which she was pretty gutted about but knowing how busy he was she understood. She knew he was gutted so had promised him that as soon as she found out then she would let him know.

She'd tied her hair up into a bun, put on her ripped denim shorts and a loose off the shoulder white top and was now getting into her car to go pick Kono up from work. It was easier to do it that way as the headquarters was on the way to the hospital for the scan so it made so much more sense. She sent a text to Kono 'I'm on my way!' and started her car. It was a short drive so she pulled into the car park and waited for her to come out. She was that focused on looking through her phone to see if Kono had replied to her text, which she usually did, that the door opening almost made her jump. But it wasn't Kono.

"You didn't honestly think I'd let you go without me did you?" she heard Steve say to her. He had a huge smile plastered on his face and you could tell he was excited. She could feel her stomach doing flips; she couldn't love this man anymore if she tried. Her cheeks were hurting she had been grinning that much. "But what about Kono? Was this the plan all along?" she asked him as he was still stood outside of the car leaning on the door frame looking in. "It was the plan all along, I've had this half a day booked off since you made the appointment. She did say though we have to let her know as soon as we do because we used her in the big plan. Infact I've been threatened by them all, they all want to know" he chuckled as he held out his hand. Normally she would be surprised if someone just held out their hand out of the blue but rolling her eyes she knew what he wanted. He hadn't let her drive since he found out she was pregnant when both of them were in the car, so taking the keys from the ignition she placed them in his hand and got out. They met at the boot of the car where he smiled and leant to give her a soft kiss. "You ready nani?" he asked her as she smiled and nodded before they both got in the car and set off.

*At the scan*

They were both sat in the waiting room anxiously waiting for the doctor to call out her name. Steve hadn't said a word since they got in there; his eyes were wide listening to the babies wailing, the children throwing toys around like a crèche, the mothers running around like crazy trying to get a hold of their runaway kid. Jess looked at him and smiled. She placed her hand on his knee that had been bobbing up and down since they sat there and he stopped. He didn't say anything just placed his hand in hers and smiled.

"Jessica Wilson" a voice calmly called out to her down the corridor. Steve stood up first holding out his hand to Jess and waited for her to take the lead into the room. This was it. They were going to find out whether they were having a little girl or a little boy. Steve heard the doctor talking with Jess asking how she had been and how she was finding the pregnancy. But all he could do was look at her. Just remembering the times when they were children, playing on the beach, falling out because Steve had eaten the last of her sweets, growing up together, Jess leaving Hawaii after losing her parents, her coming back, Steve leaving for his missions, finding out he was going to be a father. But he wouldn't have changed one thing. He always knew that she was the one for him. Always had been, always will be.

He saw her lying back on the bed while the doctor rubbed the gel onto her growing stomach so he took this as his cue to stand up and stand by her grabbing her hand as she twitched with excitement. Placing the equipment onto her stomach the doctor moved around for a couple of minutes before they both heard "Ah there we go, there's your little keiki". Jess felt her eyes well up as she looked up at Steve and she saw one single tear falling down his cheek as he was in awe looking at his little baby on the screen. Looking down at Jess he quickly wiped away any evidence of him crying and winked. Shaking her head gently at him still trying to give off his macho appearance she locked her eyes back onto the screen.

"So what we having Doc?" she heard Steve ask, he was itching to know. He'd put bets on the baby being a boy but she thought they would have a girl. The team were tied on what gender the baby would be but Danny was adamant that they were having a girl. He said if they didn't have a girl then he would buy the whole team dinner but if he was right then Steve would buy.

"Well it looks like you both are having a little... girl!" and they were both speechless. But not unhappy speechless, the type of speechless that comes around when someone is beyond happy and excited.

"Wow" she heard Steve whisper quietly as the smile that hadn't left his face since they got there managed to become even bigger. The doctor left the room to gather some notes and booklets for Jess to take home and to get their print out of the scan so Steve sat down on the bed next to Jess.

"I can't believe it..." Steve told her. She was so happy right at this moment in time. "I know, a little girl!" she replied almost in a whisper.

"No I mean I can't believe I have to pay for everyone's dinner" he laughed as she playfully punched him in the arm. "Joking, joking... But seriously. A little baby girl" and he leant down to give her a kiss.

"If she's half as beautiful as her mother, then I'm in trouble" he told her before helping her bring her top down and stand up.

*Back at headquarters*

They both walked hand in hand into the room and were instantly swarmed by the team. They both remained silent as they walked towards the table not talking to anyone.

"Guys, come on. It's been killing Danny all day to find out if he has to shell out for dinner or not" Kono exclaimed making Jess chuckle slightly.

"Okay, okay..." Steve told them hushing everyone. Danny folded his arms with a serious expression on his face. This was the deal breaker.

"We're having a little..." and it seemed as if the team inched one step closer to both Steve and Jess waiting in anticipation. Jess winked at Danny before Steve blurted out "a little girl". And with that there was an eruption of screams and cheers whilst Danny stood there with his arms now held out in victory. Kono and Chin hugged them both and gave their congratulations. Danny hadn't said anything but was now stood in front of them.

"You not gonna say anything Danno?" Jess asked him wondering why he had gone so quiet.

"Sorry I was just thinking of what I could eat now I don't have to pay" he told her whilst Steve rolled his eyes.

"Seriously though you two, you deserve this. I love you both" he said with a serious tone as he gave Jess a kiss on the cheek and wrapped his arms around her before moving onto Steve and giving him a hug too.

"Thanks man, we love you too" she heard Steve reply as he patted Danny on the shoulder.

The office doors opened as Kamekona bounded through.

"Woah what'd I miss?" he asked everyone as they were stood in a huddle around the table.

"Well big guy, me and Jess have just found out that we are having a little girl" he told Kamekona. But he looked sad, nothing like the reactions that the team gave.

"Whats up Kamekona?" Jess asked slightly worried as to why he had gone silent. Taking his hands from behind his back he revealed a little blue teddy bear with a blue ribbon around its neck.

"Girls like blue right?" he asked and she instantly knew that he had been on the 'team boy' side. Shaking her head slightly she took the bear and threw her arms around him.

"Course they do!" and with that his infectious smile had taken over his face once more.

More hugs and kisses were being exchanged, baby names were being thrown about like no tomorrow and Steve just took it all in. This was his ohana and he would do anything in the world to protect them. He saw Jess turn to him and wave him over. His world, the soon to be mother of his child. He vowed to himself that nothing would ever harm her again. Nothing.
