Chapter 30: Meeting the World

Germany arrived an hour earlier, as usual. He had called the meeting, so it was only right that he was the first to arrive.

He didn't expect anyone else to already be in the meeting room. Especially such a large group. And especially not them.

The group had decided that they didn't want to waste any more time. A new location would be nice.

With an hour and a half before the meeting actually began, Australia and New Zealand once again collaborated to create the portal, with Brazil, South Africa and Russia's help.

But it still left them exhausted, so when they arrived at the meeting room, the two decided to sleep.

The Nations from the other world also went along, but they waited in the room next to the meeting room, where they could keep out of sight from any of the others. They would wait for the others to send them an indication that they could go, even though they didn't completely know what kind of signal.

For now, they sat together, but it would most likely change. South Africa needed to discuss the situation with the Deathplayers with the rest of the African Nations. And Brazil would most likely join the rest of the South Americans.

Poland, Lithuania, France, Prussia and Spain each had a thermos with them, filled with railway coffee, as it had proved quite effective. Prussia, Lithuania and Poland had stronger coffee than Spain and France, who actually had a – relatively – peaceful sleep. They had a few cuts and scrapes, but they still wore smug expressions. They had managed to gain the upper hand against their counterparts.

The fact of the matter was, none of them had a lot of sleep, except for France and Spain that had a nap, Wales and Canada that had lost consciousness, and Moldova, whom they all took mercy on and allowed him to sleep.

Most of them were tired, except for South Africa, who was used to pulling all-nighters. She spent enough time trying to clean up her government's messes, and she occasionally babysat her boss's children. To her, this wasn't a problem.

They had been there for about half an hour before the doors opened again. There weren't a lot of Nations that arrived an hour early for a meeting, considering most of them didn't like each other's company.

But it wasn't a huge surprise when Germany was the one that opened the door.

Germany stared at the group gathered in the room. He didn't know any of them to be early to a meeting. Especially not Gilbert, unless Ludwig was the one that dragged him there.

But as he focused on his brother, he instantly saw the sling on his arm.

"West," Gilbert said, and Ludwig noted that there was something different about the tone, "should have known you'd be here so early. You live for meetings."

That was when Ludwig snapped.

"What the hell happened to you?!"

The Micro Nations arrived at the room next to the meeting room. They had gotten a message to wait in that room, and they also had to keep their cell phones with them.

What they found inside surprised them.

They looked like Nations, many of them familiar, but at the same time they looked completely different. Wrong.

They nervously fidgeted when the others focused their intimidating gazes on them.

"Who are you?" a redhead with blue eyes asked.

"Micro Nations," another responded. "What exactly are you doing here?"

"W-well," Sealand stuttered, "Brazil told us to wait here, and…"

"Brazil?" another, a young girl, interrupted. "Why would they involve you?"

"India, Brazil and South Africa use us as spies," Wy responded. "Or, more specifically, they use us to get blackmail material on the other Nations, in exchange for information on current affairs."

"So that's how you always seem so well informed," the second one that spoke said. "Matthew mentioned that the Micro Nations seemed clued up about anything that's going on."

"Who are you?" Seborga asked, being the next one to feel brave.

"Come on in. We have a lot to tell you."

Since Luciano had all three the prisoners' cell phones, he had managed to see the message as well.

He was interested to note that it was Germany that sent the message, and he was curious about what would occur. And so were the others.

So now everyone, with the exception of Seborga and the three prisoners, were sitting in front of a very large mirror, in order to see how things would proceed.

Naturally, they saw their 'friends' first, and Francois and Alejandro seemed particularly mad.

Lutz immediately perked up when he saw his own counterpart, noting that they didn't look too different from each other.

They watched as the other Germany spent an hour trying to extract the information of why Gilbert had his arm in a sling, with the other dodging the questions at every turn. Lutz and Gilen shared a glance, silently agreeing that they would never be like that. They didn't exactly care if the other got hurt.

As other Nations started to arrive, they played a silent game of trying to identify which Nation is which. Some were easy to guess, such as Japan, while others were a little harder, such as Austria.

They watched as Austria and Hungary joined the other Germany in trying to get an answer out of Gilbert.

"They appear to be entertaining, in a way," Kyo said.

"Si," Luciano said. "I can't wait to see what will happen."

As soon as everyone arrived, a problem made itself apparent.

England's brothers never attended the meetings, so there were never seats prepared for them. But with three Nations missing, that meant that there were now three extra seats. But England has four brothers, which meant that there was someone was left without a seat.

America, the last to arrive, waited restlessly while the others tried to come to an arrangement. The problem with the seats distracted Germany from Prussia's arm, which made Gilbert quite relieved.

In the end, they decided that Moldova would sit on Russia's lap, and America reluctantly sat closer to Russia than he would like.

And that was when everyone noticed that England, Norway and Romania were missing.

While Alida was making plans to retrieve the friends of their (possible) allies, Ricardo, Mahesh and Bruce had planted themselves in front of a mirror, planning to see the meeting.

They were accompanied by Argentina, Peru, New Zealand, Taiwan and Vietnam.

Vietnam had black hair and red eyes. Her skin was also pale. She wore a black dress with a red dragon embroidered on it and her hair hung loose.

The latter five were mostly there to add extra security for their leaders.

"That's America?" Argentina asked, incredulously. "This should be interesting."

"Is that Italy?" Peru asked, laughing. "I wonder how he will react when he sees his counterpart."

"What I want to know is whether or not the ones that know about us will reveal us," Brazil said.

"Only one way to find out, right?" India said.

"Now that everyone's here," Germany said, but not without glancing over towards England's brothers, who shrugged, "we can begin this meeting."

"Dude, what's the emergency?" America asked.

Germany sighed.

"Alright," he said. "Raise your hand if your capital was attacked by a bomb yesterday."

Many Nations raised their hands, and those that didn't raise their hands looked around at those that did.

"Now I want to know who caused it," Germany said. "The bombs all went off at the same time, and I want to know who organised it."

There was silence, everyone looking around nervously.

"I think it was the Commie," America said, looking towards Russia.

"I did nothing," Russia said. "I was in plane around that time, and before that I was in Brazil."

"What were you doing so close to my country?!"

"Brazil is my friend. I can visit friend, da?"

"I think it was North Korea," South Korea said.

"I did nothing! Besides, I was too busy dealing with you. It could be you, trying to frame me."

"It might be Romania," Hungary said. "He's not here, is he?"

"Hey, he has nothing to do with it!" Bulgaria said. "It's not his fault that he couldn't come."

"Then where is he?"

"I… can't tell you at this stage."

"And where's Iggy?" America whined.

"It could be England," Mexico said.

"Non, he isn't involved," France said.

"Did France just defend England?"

"I blame Iraq," Iran said.

"Me? I blame you! Or what about Israel?" Iraq responded.

"Hey, I was one of the ones attacked," Israel said.

And so chaos erupted, where the Europeans mostly blamed each other, the Middle Eastern Nations blamed each other, the Asians blamed each other and several Nations blamed those that weren't even on their continents.

The only ones not involved in the arguments were the South Americans and the Africans. Brazil was explaining the concept of Deathplayers to the South Americans while South Africa was explaining that it was the Deathplayers, and that it had been confirmed. The Africans that didn't want to believe that the Deathplayers were back had to listen to the testimonies of the other Southern Africans, who confirmed all that she said.

And the ones that had been involved with the other world were too busy defending the three missing members while avoiding the question of where they were, and Prussia had to defend himself by telling the rest of the world that that wasn't how he injured his arm.

Luciano's group watched this happening, dubious expressions on their faces.

Luciano checked his watch, and checked it again to make sure it was working.

"That has to be some record," Marius said, a look of astonishment on his face.

"You're right," Luciano said. "Not even our meetings are that chaotic that fast."

Ricardo's group also stared in astonishment.

"We're supposed to consider them as allies?" Vietnam asked incredulously.

"If they're as spirited in a fight as they are in an argument, this might be good for us," Mahesh said.

Germany, for once, wasn't trying to calm the chaos around him. He also didn't join in.

His eyes were fixed upon a Nation that he never really noticed before, but that he had definitely seen before.

In fact, if he had to think about it, he saw that Nation the previous night. In his nightmares.

It had been since World War 2 that he had been getting nightmares of that Nation. But since he never saw him again, he assumed that it was only his imagination. That it was nothing but a nightmare.

But he could see that this Nation was real.

He would recognise that face anywhere. A gentle face, very similar to America's, with violet eyes behind glasses, wavy blond hair and a wayward curl in front of his face.

He had seen that face many times in his nightmares. His own personal Boogeyman.

And his conversation with France the previous day echoed in his mind, and he couldn't understand how he didn't recognise it sooner.

Canada.

They could clearly hear the voices through the wall coming from the neighbouring room. The Micro Nations were now informed of the situation, and were trying to find out how their counterparts were.

"That was fast," Basch observed.

"Yep," Matt said. "They have meetings more often than we do because they never get things done."

"I can't believe I'm saying this," Eva said, "but at least Italy knows how to run a meeting."

"Oh!" Seborga said. "How is my fratello's counterpart?"

"Honestly," Gabriel said, "we're trying very hard not to take our frustrations of him out on you."

"What did he do?"

"More like what didn't he do," Nicolai sighed. "The Italy of our world isn't someone we like to be around. At least Romano is a little more tolerable."

"What's he like?"

"Think of a combination of Italy and France," Matt said, "and you get a pretty good idea."

Every one of the Micro Nations shuddered. That truly was a dangerous concept for them.

Vlad, Arthur and Lukas remained in the room, trying to find a way for them to escape.

The three of them were still wearing the clothes given to them by Flavio, and all three had to endure the torturous measuring session. Flavio was still working on the outfits.

They were surprised that no one had come to actually torture them yet, asides from Francois and Alejandro that demanded to know a little history of their counterparts. Vlad and Lukas had stood aside while Arthur explained, since Arthur had more history with the other two Nations than the Romanian and Norwegian had.

They couldn't use magic, which unfortunately meant that their secret weapon was also out of their grasp. But Lukas and Arthur were happy to see that Vlad had gained his second fang. That meant that they were at least closer to their goal.

They hoped that the other South Africa would at least fulfil her promise.

Alida had returned to her home, Namibia and Mozambique by her side.

The three of them would work together to retrieve the three prisoners. They had gone to where the meeting had taken place, but Italy's group had already left, as expected. The only other options were the homes of the Northern Powers, which was especially dangerous. They needed to think carefully about what they would do.

Namibia would be going to Germany's house, Mozambique to Japan's, and South Africa to Italy's house.

The three of them were excellent hunters, and they were among the stealthiest of the Southern Nations. They would need the stealth if they were going to their enemies' homes.

Namibia would be going to Germany's house, since she has some history with him. She knows how he works, and she knew how to counter any strike he would make against her.

Mozambique would be going to Japan's house because she could be just as ruthless as him. She wasn't afraid of him.

South Africa would be going to Italy's house because he was the most dangerous, and she couldn't put her sisters in that kind of danger.

They examined the blueprints of each of their targets' homes, specifically looking for rooms that they knew were unused. They couldn't afford teleporting into a room, only to run into the Northern Nations before they could even start their search.

And if the Nations that they were searching for happened to be in the rooms marked 'unused', then it was fortunate for them.

They just hoped that they didn't have to deal with the Northern Powers before they found the Nations from the other side. If this assignment ended in failure, then they could not get another chance.

India sighed, ignoring the accusations of Nations all around. Thanks to Anika, he knew who the real culprit was, and he didn't feel the need to try to explain. He'll leave that to Anika.

He stared down at his hands, remembering what Canada said. He had the magic touch, but he wasn't aware of it. But how is that possible? He wasn't exactly the youngest Nation. So how could he not have noticed it?

Or perhaps he had? If that was the case, then something must have happened that blocked it from his mind. But what? And if it was true that he did have the magic touch, then what form did it take? He knew Anika's involved storms and spirits, while Roberto's involved knowledge of the past and future. And in both his friends' cases, it could be disastrous for them. He had seen what happened after it was used, usually against their will, and it scared him. Would the same happen to him?

Perhaps that was his problem. Even when he was young, he had only seen the disastrous side of magic. And it terrified him to be able to do something like that. The effects terrified him.

And perhaps he was afraid to use his powers, if he had any, for fear of getting hurt.

His eyes widened when he saw sparks around his fingertips, and he immediately pulled himself from his musings.

He noticed that Germany had made no effort to return order, and he wouldn't dare because no one would listen to him. He didn't have the influence.

'In this world,' he thought suddenly.

They needed to explain anyway, so why not bring them in right now? Hopefully, their presence would be able to calm the chaos. Otherwise…

Well, they are more violent than the Nations of their world.

Sealand paused when his cell phone chimed, indicating that he had received a message. He looked at the screen, noticing that it came from India.

Tell our new friends that they can enter.

It didn't take a genius to figure out what he meant. He showed it to the others, and they all agreed that it was relevant to the Nations from the other side of the mirror.

He informed the others, and they all clearly understood the instructions.

The Micro Nations were there to inform them when they should enter.

As the darker Nations departed, the Micros all decided that none of them wanted to miss this. They also didn't get any instructions to stay out of it, so they assumed that they wouldn't get in trouble over this.

Matthew didn't participate in the chaos, but for once it wasn't because he was ignored. Actually, he had never felt so many eyes on him before.

He wondered if Matt's presence in their world was why he was suddenly noticeable.

Strangely, Germany was staring at him as though he was some sort of monster. He could see faint traces of fear in his eyes.

He was one of the first to see the door open. He was slightly surprised to see his counterpart enter.

He looked around, seeing Raj and Anika looking intently, as though they were expecting that.

'Things aren't so different after all, eh?' he thought.

He looked up when Matt stopped behind him, resting his arms on the back of the chair and leaning over it. Nicolai came to a stop behind Dimitri, Gabriel stopped behind Emil and Andrei stopped near Alexandru and Ivan.

"What are you doing here?" Matthew asked.

"I think we're putting an end to this chaos," Matt sighed.

"Who the hell are you?!" Germany hollered, finally ending the chaos as everyone noticed the strange additions to the room.

"And why do you look like Canadia?" America asked.

"It's CANADA!" Matt said, startling Matthew. "And I look like him because I am also Canada."
