This chapter… What can I say? I had fun writing it. The beginning is still a little dark, as usual, and then it just goes into the humour category. Really, this was fun.

Chapter 38: An Interesting Threat
White has an… interesting idea.
Black's reaction would be worth seeing.
…
Gilbert sighed, rotating his arm.
The wound had healed, and while it was still sore, there was no longer a risk of his arm being lost. Thank goodness for Nations' healing.
He just hoped Gilen wouldn't try again.
…
Feliks was pulled from the coffin, forced to lie on a table. His wrists were shackled, and he immediately proceeded to struggle.
"Like, what did you do to me?" Feliks asked.
"I made sure you couldn't wake up," Felic said, smirking. "This way, we can play whenever I want to."
Feliks paled, and he tried to struggle harder. Felic only chuckled, bringing a bucket closer.
Feliks didn't know what was in the bucket, but he didn't have to wait long to find out. And he wished he didn't.
Wax. Hot wax.
Felic smirked, unbuttoning the shirt of the pyjamas Feliks had been wearing, exposing his chest and stomach. Felic raised the bucket and tilted it.
And all Feliks could do was scream.
…
When Feliks screamed, Toris and William immediately rushed to his room. Since the blonde couldn't be awakened, they had to search the Pol's body.
Luckily they didn't have to search lower than the stomach. Neither would feel comfortable with removing the Pol's pants.
But they were horrified when they saw the horrible burns on Feliks's stomach and chest.
Elizaveta chose that moment to rush into the room, looking at the burn marks in horror.
"Out of curiosity," Wales said, "out of the Nations from the other world, who do you think will be least likely to kill me?"
"What do you mean?" Toris asked.
"I need to test something out, but I would like to try it on someone that isn't likely to kill me," Will explained. "I can see Canada trying to kill me for that, Thailand might kill me, Iceland might kill me… actually, I think both of them would try to kill me."
"What about Moldova?" Toris suggested. "At least you would be able to outrun him."
"I don't want Vlad angry at me," Will sighed. "Well, Egypt won't dare get far from South Africa. I'll try him."
"What do you have in mind?" Elizaveta asked.
"Let's put it this way: Poland would love that spell."
…
"Alright," Marius said, "this should do it."
"Great," Elise said. "So, when do we get to play?"
"Wait until they're asleep," Oliver said. "You won't be able to do it otherwise."
"How do we know they're asleep?" Allen asked.
"They sleep regularly," Sigurd said. "Wait until tonight."
"What are we supposed to do until then?" Dominik asked.
"Whatever you want," Marius said. "I know what I'm doing."
"Me too," Sigurd said.
"Yep," Oliver said.
…
Vlad had pulled Lukas and Arthur aside. No one questioned it, accepting that there are things that the magic trio needed to do.
"Alright," Lukas said, "what's wrong?"
"I was looking through the mirror," Vlad said. "And I… I think I can go through."
The other two paled.
"Does that mean that…?" Arthur asked.
"There's a chance that Marius could come through too," Vlad said. "And there's a chance that the two of you are in the same boat as me."
"What if they're listening right now?" Lukas asked, looking around.
"Last I saw, they were getting ready to cast a spell," Vlad said.
"And which spell is that?" Arthur asked.
"I don't know. But it can't be something good."
…
Anika was reading on her bed, both Egypts with her. Gupta was telling Omar many stories, and Anika had lost him. But Omar seemed entranced by the stories.
Anika wondered if it was perhaps the fact that Gupta was talking, and Omar had gone a long time without hearing the sound of his own voice. So Omar might not be listening to the words, but was instead listening to the voice.
There was a knock on the door, and Gupta grew silent.
"Come in," Anika said, not even looking up from her book.
William entered the room, and she quickly glanced at him.
"What do you want?" she asked.
"I would like Egypt's help with something," he said.
"Which one?" Gupta asked.
"Both."
The two Egyptians shared a look, Omar arching his eyebrow.
"What do you want our help with?" Gupta asked.
William muttered something, and in the next moment Gupta was hit by a small red light. Both Egypts were surrounded by smoke, and when it faded, Anika couldn't help but burst out in laughter.
…
Alida watched what was happening, and she couldn't believe her eyes.
If Wales was going to do the same thing to other Nations, then this could prove an excellent attack.
…
Will was standing just outside the door, prepared to run if it came to that.
Gupta and Omar were no longer Egyptian men. They were women.
Gupta was wearing a white dress, almost resembling the dresses of Ancient Egypt. Her brown hair was long, going down to her hips. She had a golden pin in her hair that resembled the scarab, and a golden piece of jewellery on her upper right arm that looked like a snake.
Omar looked pretty much the same, wearing black robes instead, a silver headdress on her head.
"What did you do?" Gupta asked, looking down at him… herself.
"I wanted to see if it would work if I cast the spell on one of you," Will said. "I was hoping the other would also be affected."
"Okay, now turn us back," Gupta said.
"Um… I don't know how."
That was when Will decided to run away. Luckily, only Gupta chose to chase him.
…
"Aren't you going after him?" Anika asked.
Omar shook his head, looking pointedly at her.
"I'm going to be fine. You obviously aren't comfortable in that body."
Omar shrugged, sitting on the bed. Anika sighed.
Was he like that with Alida as well?
…
"Coming through," William said, running past the magic trio.
"Get back here!" a female voice shouted, startling the three magical Nations.
"Wait," Arthur said, catching the woman as she reached them. "I'm not sure what my brother did, but…"
"He turned me into a girl and can't turn me back," the woman said.
"He did what?" Lukas asked.
"Oh yeah," Vlad said. "I use these spells on Poland a lot. Don't worry, it'll wear off."
She seemed to calm after hearing that. Luckily for Wales, he was long gone.
"Now," Arthur said, "who are you? Sorry, but gender-bending doesn't make things obvious."
"I'm Egypt," the woman said. "I should probably go check on Omar. He's still with South Africa."
"Is he also a she?" Arthur asked.
"Yes."
"Oh boy. What is that brother of mine planning?"
…
Marius, Sigurd and Oliver had all gone to bed, the spell they had cast tiring them out.
Marius had Reka keeping watch in his room, Sigurd had Denmark, Sweden and Finland in his room, and Oliver had his brothers in his room.
Denmark, also known as Tobias, had white hair and violet eyes. He was dressed as a Viking, keeping his battle axe close to him. His eyes were hard, and he still had not given up his Viking ways. He was brutal and cold.
Sweden, also known as Axel, had white hair and green eyes behind a pair of glasses. He wore a simple blue shirt, blue jeans and black shoes. His face was gentle, relaxed, and had Norway not needed sleep, he would be chatting away, as usual.
Finland, also known as Aleksi, also had white hair, but he had red eyes. He wore a black jacket, black pants and black boots, with a black cap on his head. He had a perpetual glare on his face.
"Where's that Micro Nation of yours?" Tobias asked Axel.
"He's staying at home," Axel said. "I don't want him anywhere near anyone here."
"Smart," Aleksi said.
…
William had asked the magic trio, the bad touch trio and Lithuania to gather in Poland's room. The three magical Nations were the only ones that had a suspicion about what was going on.
"I'm glad you could make it," Will said.
"Does this have anything to do with the fact that Egypt is now a woman?" Arthur asked.
"Wait, what?" Gilbert asked. "How did…?"
"I found Mother's old spell," Will interrupted. "The one she would use whenever she wanted to spend quality time with a daughter. I figured that it would be an interesting way to torture your counterparts. I tested it out to see whether it would work if I use it on the Nation on our side, and then if it would work on the Nation on the other side. I used it on Gupta, and Omar transformed as well."
"Does this mean we're going to have to transform into girls?" Toris asked, his face falling.
"Pretty much."
"This could prove entertaining," Arthur said. "I was transformed into a girl a few times, and it's not so bad."
"And I've used a similar spell on Poland a few times," Vlad said. "He really likes that spell."
"At least we know one alternate that won't be happy," Gilbert said, snickering.
"Alright," Francis said. "I won't mind becoming a belle femme."
"You just want to grope yourself," Arthur said.
"Onhonhonhon."
…
Francesco was avoiding everyone else. He was the only Micro Nation among them, and he knew that it would be bad for him if he was found by another Nation. He was too weak, and he had no way of defending himself.
He jumped when he heard a female shriek, and withdrew deeper into his room, locking and barricading the door.
…
Francois and Alejandro immediately threw away the wine they were drinking, and Gilen threw away the beer.
The three of them were looking down at their bodies, not exactly sure what happened.
As the other Nations arrived, they were met with hostility, at least until Francois spoke.
"Where's the magic trio?" she asked.
…
"Um, Marius?" Reka said.
Marius opened his eyes, seeing Reka looking at him nervously. He couldn't understand what was wrong.
At least, until he touched his chest.
"What the…?"
…
Feliks whimpered, feeling the wax that had, by now, hardened.
Felic chuckled, starting to pull the wax off…
…
Sigurd had dragged the other three Nordics to in front of the mirror, so that he can see his new reflection. He was startled awake by their startled shouts, and he needed to see what the damage was.
His – her – hair was long, about waist-length. She wore a white blouse, a green skirt and a green scarf, with white tights and black mary janes.
"What kind of magic is this?" she whispered, before she was startled when the door opened.
Standing at the door was a woman, apparently Spanish, with shoulder-length curly black hair and brown eyes. She wore a red shirt with a black corset and black pants tucked into black boots.
"What did you do?" the Spanish woman asked.
"Spain?" Sigurd asked.
"Si."
The two stared at each other silently, until Sigurd pushed the other Nordics away from the mirror so that she could see what Lukas was doing.
Lukas's hair was also the same length as hers, and she wore a female version of the sailor outfit that Lukas usually wore, with a blue skirt and light blue tights. The boots went to about just underneath the knees.
There were other Nations that were female, with Wales standing to the side.
"Let's go check on the British," Sigurd said, looking at Alejandro. "We're going to go negotiate with Wales. We're going to be the ones that punish that Welshman."
"I am not going to argue with you," Alejandro said.
…
"This is excellente," Francis said, looking down at her body.
"Kesesese," Gilbert laughed. "I am still awesome, and hot."
"Si, mi amiga," Antonio said. "You look muy bonito."
"How do women manage with their hair?" Vlad said, pushing her hair back.
Vlad had waist-length hair, with her hat still sitting atop her head. She wore a form-fitting red shirt that reached to about mid-thigh, with blue skinny jeans and black boots.
"This seems strange," Toris said.
Toris had long hair tied in a braid, lying over her right shoulder. She wore a traditional dress, with a pair of brown hiking boots.
"Is anyone else disturbed by the fact that Poland still looks basically the same?" Lukas asked.
Will went to check, and when he saw that Feliks's pyjamas were replaced by a pink nightgown and that Feliks was no longer flat-chested, he was satisfied.
"Bothered me the first few times too," Vlad said, shrugging.
"Hey, want to see how the others are taking it?" Gilbert suggested.
This prompted the others to run out of the room, towards rooms with mirrors.
…
Felic chuckled when he saw the burns on Feliks's chest and stomach.
He felt a tugging sensation, and growled. He unshackled Feliks and pushed him back in the coffin, locking the blonde inside.
This had better be good.
…
When Felic returned to his own consciousness, he glared at the person who was shaking him awake.
It was a woman, one with shoulder-length brown hair and brown eyes, very similar to Tolys. Strangely enough, she was wearing a female version of Tolys's usual uniform.
"What?" Felic asked, and immediately clamped a hand over his mouth. Why was his voice so high?
He looked down at himself. He was wearing a short black dress, and at the chest area… were those…?
If anyone asked, he did not shriek.
…
"What the hell?" Marius shrieked.
He was wearing a long black dress, and for some reason, his long hair was silver, and pinned behind his head.
"This could be awkward," Reka said.
The door opened, and he glared at the person standing there. Judging by the clothes, it was Prussia, but he could see that the other had the same problem.
"What is going on?" Gilen demanded.
"I don't know," Marius said.
Reka giggled.
"You two look like you could be sisters," she chuckled. "What with the silver hair and red eyes."
"My eyes?" Gilen shrieked, running towards the mirror.
When she saw Gilbert, she frowned, before pulling Marius close, if only so they could see their own reflections, and not their counterparts.
"This is creepy on so many levels," Marius said, cupping her new breasts.
"I see no way how this could be worse," Gilen said.
"I think I can think of one thing," Reka said.
The two stared at her as she searched for something in her purse. When she finally took it out and revealed it, the two former males paled.
"Oh no," Marius said.
"Nein, nein, nein!" Gilen said. "Please tell me that can't happen."
"It's a possibility," Reka said, shrugging.
…
Oliver glared at the mirror. Her brothers were standing behind her, looking like they wanted to run away in fear.
On the other side, Arthur was looking at the other smugly.
"This is your doing, isn't it?" Oliver asked.
"You know, I would have figured that you wouldn't mind a spell like this."
"Are you kidding?! I have a bust! How can you be so calm about this?"
"Mother used to do this a lot to us," Arthur said, shrugging. "Of course, that was when I still looked like a three-year-old. This new age is a little strange."
"I don't care. Undo it."
"Sorry. I'm not the one that cast the spell. And it wasn't Norway or Romania."
"Who was it? And tell him to undo this!"
"Sorry love. You know, I think I rather enjoy being a woman. If only because it makes you mad. This is the best idea you've ever had."
Arthur was looking towards the side, and the person she was speaking to was out of Oliver's range of vision. She also couldn't hear a response to help her identify the voice.
"Whoever is responsible can expect a slow and brutal death," Oliver seethed.
"You need to find out who it is first," Arthur said, leaving the mirror.
"Get back here Arthur Kirkland!" Oliver shouted. "We are not finished here!"
"I think it's time to go," Scotland whispered to Wales.
…
When it was time for lunch, most of the other Nations were confused about the new-yet-old additions. Anika was still laughing, and laughed even harder when she saw Arthur, who only shrugged, ignoring her former colony.
"This is wrong on so many levels," Ludwig said.
"What's wrong, West?" Gilbert asked, a smirk on her face. "Didn't you ever want an older sister?"
"It's disturbing!"
"I'm disturbed with the fact that you seem to take it so well," Dimitri said, looking at Vlad.
"Please tell me that Marius was freaking out," Nikolai said, chuckling.
"Da," Vlad said. "It was funny, seeing Marius like that. For some reason, she has silver hair."
"Are there any side-effects that we should be aware of?" Ludwig asked.
"Just possible personality alterations," Alistair said, shrugging. "Men and women think differently, so it's only natural that the personalities are different, even if it's the same Nation."
"How long is this going to last?" Portugal asked, staring warily at Spain. "It's disturbing to see my brother as a sister."
"I agree," Germany said.
"A few days," Wales said. "I think."
"You're not helping."
Nicolai jumped as he got a text. He read it before staring at Anika.
"Is having an evil mentality a South African thing?" he asked.
"Why?" Anika asked. "What did Alida want?"
"She's asking if the spell could be used on Italy as well."
Everyone's eyes fell on Feliciano.
"Ve, I wouldn't mind," he said. "I want to see what I look like."
"No!" Lovino shouted. "I do not want to see what my fratello would look like as a sorella."
"I'm curious," Marcello said.
…
"So," Oliver said, glaring at the mirror, "it was Wales."
The eight Nations that had been turned into women were all gathered in Marius's room, any other Nations out of the line of fire. It would seem that the eight were a lot scarier when angered now that they were women.
"Are they really going to do that?" Francois asked.
A few seconds later, a shriek could be heard through the mansion.
"Yep," Sigurd said. "They did that."
Soon, the sound of stomping footsteps could be heard, and a few moments later the door swung open, with whom they assumed to be Italy standing there.
"Someone is going to die," she hissed.
Not all of the appearances are a hundred percent identical between the male and female Nations. Which is why some look drastically different.
The 1Ps had a bit of a warning, with the exception of the Egypts, so they're taking this rather well. I originally wanted to use Canada, and I might, but I decided that Will would test the spell on someone whose alternate counterpart was there, but wouldn't chase after him to kill him. He wasn't really bothered with one of the Nations from his own world trying to kill him. And since Omar wouldn't leave Anika's side, he decided on Egypt.
The reason the spell worked on both sides is because the barrier was weakened. In the past, if that particular spell had been used, only one side would be affected while the other would remain as they were. It is for that reason that the spell would wear off. Now, however…
Who else thinks that Wales is in deep trouble?
