Chapter 65: Missing Pieces
Tolys screamed at the sudden pain. Her entire body was seized by spasms, and she fell to the ground.
Never before had she experienced pain like this before, and that was saying something.
As her body was overwhelmed by pain, she didn't notice as her body became more and more masculine, but she did notice that those areas were particularly painful.
…
Toris screamed, and the Deathplayers watched. They did nothing as she writhed on the ground, her body wracked with seizures.
They did however notice that her hair was getting shorter, and that her clothing was morphing back to what Toris originally wore.
"I was wondering what would happen," the Lithuania Deathplayer said.
The two Reds went back to sleep, their duty fulfilled.
…
Ferdinand sighed as he moved away from the painting.
Toris, the male and female versions standing back-to-back, surrounded by a red mist.
"A painting I didn't think I would have to make so soon," he said sadly, hugging himself.
…
Vlad sighed in relief when she finally spotted Natalia.
"Belarus!" she called out, running towards the other woman.
She flinched when Belarus threw a knife towards her, barely missing her. But that of course forced the Romanian to come to a stop.
"What do you want?" Natalia growled. "I'm busy."
"I need you to accompany me to the other world," Vlad said. "We're going to save Bulgaria."
"Like I said, I'm busy."
Vlad sighed. It would seem she would have to use her ace.
"Your brother asked me to get you," she said. "He's going to accompany us."
Natalia's eyes widened, and after a few moments, she sighed in defeat.
"Fine," she said. "But only because Big Brother wants it."
Vlad beamed. It was easier than expected.
…
Mathias had gone to his own home in Copenhagen. He needed to get his axe.
And then, he would need to wait for the rest of the Nordics.
…
Emil screamed as Tobias poured boiling water on his freezing back.
His shirt had been removed, and his skin had gained a bluish tint. But on his back, the blue slowly became red as his senses were overwhelmed by the contrasting sensations of cold and heat.
The Dane chuckled, as he removed a pocketknife.
"This should make sure you're not too numb," Tobias said as the knife dug into Emil's skin.
…
Matt watched with amusement as Rosa and Alfred were still arguing about the fact that their counterparts had a relationship with each other.
And it was worse, considering Matt couldn't tell them if they were on or off. So they just assumed the worst.
They were listing reasons why they would never date each other, as well as each and every flaw the other had.
What Matt found amusing was the fact that they seemed to be in denial.
…
Natalia sighed. Before she met up with her brother, she would probably have to unlock Lithuania's door.
After she opened it, she was frozen in horror.
The Lithuanian was gone.
…
Feliks screamed as Felic tightened the rope around her already broken ankle.
There was a piece of wood tied in the rope, which was used to tighten said rope. This made it easier for Felic, but more painful for Feliks, as shards of broken bone pressed into her muscles and tendons.
There was a snap, and Feliks screeched at the sensation.
"Oh look," Felic said. "The bone came out."
And the tears that streamed down the blonde's face burned like nothing she had ever felt before.
…
The Deathplayers watched their new Red, who had passed out on the ground.
"How long before he wakes up?" the Lithuania Deathplayer asked.
"No idea," the Australia Deathplayer said. "Who should we go for next?"
I have an idea, one of the untransformed Deathplayers said.
…
Dimitri writhed as Viktor dunked him in a vat of vinegar.
It burned his wound and stung his eyes, and he was sure that the smell wouldn't be able to leave him for a while.
When his head came above the surface, he took a grateful gulp of air, before his head was once again dunked under the liquid.
…
Natalia was a little nervous.
She had locked Lithuania in the room for her own protection, but now Toris wasn't there. It was unsettling, especially considering the spell was still in place.
She knew she had limited time before she joined her brother on their mission to the other world, but with Lithuania missing…
She went to Poland's room, hoping to enlist the other's help, but she wasn't there either.
With a huff, she went to the one Nation that she didn't want to see, but who might be able to help her.
…
"I see," Ludwig said into the phone. "Danke, I will."
"Who was that?" Rebecca asked, completely bored.
"It was Anika," Ludwig sighed, hanging up her phone. "She said to keep an eye on mein bru… I mean, meine schwester."
"Warum?"
"Because there seems to be trouble, and apparently Gilbert is a target for that trouble."
"After spending an entire day with her, I have to agree."
…
Marcello chuckled as he brushed his sister's hair.
He had to admit, Feliciano's hair as a woman was soft and silky, and it brought him great pleasure to help her with it.
Lovino still didn't want to accept that their fratello was now a sorella, but they did notice a few things.
For one thing, female Feliciano appeared to be a lot braver than male Feliciano. And she also appeared to be more eager for a fight.
They had noticed something similar in Francis, and female Arthur appeared to be more approachable than male Arthur.
He recalled a past conversation at the large dinner table. Was it Scotland or Wales that mentioned that there was a chance that there might be differences in personality?
Marcello shook his head as he started to braid his sister's hair. He supposed that it didn't really matter. Feliciano was still Feliciano, even if he wore a skirt now.
He wondered what the other Micro Nations were doing…
…
Manuella and the Micro Nations were cleaning Alida's house, as punishment for breaking the vase.
Manuella tried to argue that she wasn't responsible for breaking the vase, but Alida argued that since she was supposed to be watching the Micro Nations, she was still responsible.
And the Micro Nations all decided that they had better stay out of the Mozambican's way.
…
Dimitri panted as Viktor tied him up once again. The vinegar burned his insides, especially his heart.
"Irina will be with you shortly," Viktor said, and Dimitri whimpered as he walked away.
…
Ferdinand shuddered, before he turned to see the angry Belarusian.
"Lithuania isn't in his room," Natalia said. "I know I made it impossible for anyone else to be there."
"You prevented them from going in," Ferdinand said. "You didn't keep them from going out."
She pondered his words for a moment.
"They were already in the room," she said.
"Si," Ferdinand said, continuing with his current painting.
Natalia observed the painting for a while.
"Is that… Poland?" she asked.
Indeed, it was.
The painting showed Feliks, with red wings, supposed to look like an angel, but they were also meant to represent the wings of a phoenix. The wings were tied in chains, and Feliks's hair was ruffled.
"Why is there a painting of Poland?" Natalia asked.
"Lithuania isn't the only one missing," Ferdinand said.
He didn't turn around to see Natalia's face, but the sound of her footsteps was the warning he received before he was spun around, a hand wrapped around his throat. He also took note of the other's nails digging into his skin.
"When did this happen?" she demanded.
"Around the same time that Iceland was taken," Ferdinand said.
She let go, stepping back. She immediately turned around, and Ferdinand gave himself a quick hug before turning back to the canvas.
…
Dimitri was waiting for Irina to come, before the next round of pain would arrive.
He heard footsteps approaching, but he didn't identify them as Irina's.
He looked up, and his eyes widened in horror.
It looked like him, except the hair was pitch black, and his eyes were blood red, with slits for pupils. He wore a black shirt underneath a black jacket and black leather pants, with black combat boots. He also had a pair of fingerless gloves. But the most important features that attracted his attention were the horns, wings and tail.
"No," he whispered.
"Is something the matter, little Bishop?" the other taunted.
"Please no," Dimitri whispered.
The creature smirked, stroking its clawed hand over the wound in his chest, making Dimitri hiss in pain.
"You'll be joining us soon enough," the creature said.
Dimitri had closed his eyes when the creature had touched him, but he opened his eyes to find that the creature was gone.
And right at that moment, he heard the tell-tale sound of Irina's footsteps.
…
Ivan was waiting for Vlad and Natalia to arrive. Every now and again, he would look towards Nicolai, who was breathing as though the very action pained him.
He saw the Bulgarian wince, and he knew that they needed to hurry.
"Russia!" Vlad's voice called out, and Ivan turned to see the Romanian approaching. She looked towards Nicolai. "Are you okay?"
"I'm not sure," Nicolai said. "Some sort of liquid, I think. It burns."
Vlad sighed, before she turned to Ivan.
"Natalia is on her way," she said.
"Spasibo," Ivan said. "Let's just hope we are not too late."
…
Emil whimpered as he was thrown into the chilling room where Feliks was also kept.
The Pol immediately went to him, as fast as her stiff joints and broken ankle would allow.
"Like, are you alright?" she asked.
Emil sobbed, shaking his head. Feliks could see why.
His back was one large purple bruise, and she wasn't really sure, but she thought that there were runes carved into his back.
She held him in a hug, allowing him to cry into her shoulder, and hiding her own tears from him.
…
Arthur was getting really annoyed.
Apparently, Feliks's phoenix decided to bother her the entire time. And she was getting really sick of it.
"Why don't you go bother Poland or Lithuania?" Arthur asked.
The phoenix squawked in protest, forcing Arthur to shield her ears from the phoenix's cries.
…
Tino loaded his guns, as Berwald tested his lance and Lukas sharpened his sword.
Gabriel was pacing nervously, afraid for his counterpart. He knew what Tobias was capable of. And if Aleksi was there as well, then he had even more cause for concern.
"Are we ready to go?" Lukas asked.
The others nodded, and they started their journey to Copenhagen.
…
While he was waiting for the other Nordics, Mathias decided to sharpen his axe. It was the only helpful thing he could do at this time.
…
"Big Brother!"
Ivan sighed as Natalia threw her arms around him.
"Privet, sister," Ivan said. "Are we ready to go now?"
"First, there's something you should know," Natalia said.
"What is it?" Ivan asked.
"Poland and Lithuania are also missing."
"What?" Vlad called out. "How?"
"I am not sure," Natalia said.
"Then we will have to find answers, da?" Ivan asked, his aura surrounding him.
"Da," the other two said.
Nicolai, on the other hand, was in too much pain to say anything.
…
Dimitri tried not to sob, but it was getting really hard.
Irina had made an incision, around the centre of his ribcage, and she used some sort of knife to cut the ribs away, breaking them when they were halfway cut. Already, she had broken five of his ribs, and was working on the sixth. The right side of his chest was in absolute pain.
"There we go," Irina said. "Now, I have full access to that lung of yours."
Dimitri's eyes widened, and he screamed as Irina started to cut into the spongy organ.
…
Vlad, Natalia and Ivan looked over towards Nicolai when they heard the Bulgarian whimper. They then shared a look, and Ivan moved to pick up the Bulgarian.
The four then made their way to the nearest mirror.
Vlad took a deep breath when the scene with Marius came into view, and she placed her hand on the mirror.
…
Mathias perked up when he heard a knock on his front door.
Carrying the axe with him, he made his way towards the door. He opened it to reveal the rest of the Nordics.
"About time you guys got here," he said. "Are we all ready?"
They each nodded, and they followed Lukas towards the closest mirror. She placed her hand on the glass surface.
…
"I see," Alida sighed.
Lobsang, Yul and Chio had approached her, saying that they felt that they would be much more useful on the other side.
Also, they thought it would be best that Yong Soo went back to his own world, and it would also be a good idea to get Jeng Soo to the other world for his own safety.
"Get the two Koreas then," Alida sighed. "I'll take you through in a minute."
…
Lovino and Anika were in one of the living rooms, along with South Sudan.
Kerieme had dark skin and shoulder-length black hair tied in a low ponytail. He also had golden eyes. He wore a green jallabiya with a red scarf and blue pants.
The three liked to hang out, simply for one reason.
South Africa, South Italy and South Sudan. Usually, South Korea would also be with them, but he was in the other world.
The four preferred each other's company, even if it was in silence. Of course, it wasn't really silent when Yong Soo was around, but the other three contented themselves with his voice as background noise.
It had started a few years ago, when Lovino got tired of being bothered by his brother, so he had gone to a little corner in the cafeteria with a piece of paper with the word 'South' simply written on it. He had hoped to be left in peace, but then Yong Soo arrived, followed by Anika and Kerieme. Lovino wanted to protest, but couldn't deny the fact that the other three were 'South' as well, and the four had formed a bond. Normally, at lunchtime, no matter where in the world the meeting took place, the four attempted to sit together, especially when they just wanted to get away from certain things. Yong Soo to get some peace from his brother's problems, Kerieme when he wanted to get a break from his arguments with his own brother, Lovino when he got tired of his brother, and while Anika didn't have brother problems, she did have neighbour problems, especially from Zimbabwe, and went there to get a break.
The three were enjoying the silence when a few figures suddenly appeared in the middle of the room.
"What the hell?!" Lovino called out, jumping from his seat.
"Aw," Yong Soo's voice resonated through the room. "You three were hanging out without me?"
Anika sighed.
"A little warning would be nice, Alida," she told her counterpart.
Alida wasn't listening, gaze fixed on Lovino.
"Out of curiosity, how long have you been friends?" Alida asked.
They immediately knew what the problem was. Lovino's counterpart was the brother of Alida's sworn enemy.
"A few years," Anika said. "Hy's orraait. Don't worry."
Alida narrowed her eyes, before turning to Anika.
"You know about what's going on?" she asked.
"Ja," Anika said. "Don't worry. I'm not going to allow myself to be alone."
"Good. Because Omar isn't going to allow that."
That was when the blonde South African saw the Egyptian, and she groaned.
Here they go again.
"By the way, Anika," Alida said. "You wouldn't happen to have any magical creatures that I could borrow? You know, as guerrilla troops against Italy?"
Anika arched a brow, and chuckled.
"I'm sure the Tokoloshe would be able to help," she said. "There's this one in particular that especially likes to attack woman and girls."
"Considering Italy is female at the moment, that would be ideal," Alida said.
…
The trio were pouring over the spell books, at least until they felt something strange. They each looked up, just as four figures appeared in the centre of the table.
Marius grunted as she was immediately tackled to the ground, a hand wrapped around her throat.
"Where's Dimitri?" Vlad demanded.
Marius rolled her eyes, before a scream echoed through the building.
"We're going ahead," Ivan said, as he and Natalia ran out of the room.
Marius's eyes fell on Nicolai, and she smirked.
"Having trouble?" she taunted.
Vlad growled, before she smirked.
"You know, I have to say, I like you better as a woman," Vlad said.
Marius fixed her gaze on her counterpart once again, a glare set on her face.
"You know how to undo this, don't you?" Marius demanded.
"Da, of course," Vlad said. "Do you have any idea how many times I used this spell on Poland?"
Before anything else could be done, five more figures appeared in the centre of the room. This time, Sigurd was tackled.
"Hello Lukas," Sigurd said, smiling brightly. "Hello Gabe."
"Shut up!" Lukas said. "Where's Emil?"
Sigurd cocked her head to the side, before her eyes widened in understanding, and her smile brightened.
"Oh, so that's the approach he took," Sigurd said. "I hate to break it to you, but I have nothing to do with Emil's disappearance. Why don't you try Denmark? That is, if you can survive."
Oliver kept her eyes on the air in front of her, half expecting Arthur and a few others to arrive as well and tackle her to the ground.
…
The Deathplayers watched as the unconscious Nation – no, Red – stirred at last. He had a red cloak, just like the others.
He opened his blue-green eyes, which contained a spark of insanity.
The part with the South was inspired by a fanfic I read about a year ago on Archive of Our Own called 'The South Table'. South Italy decided to 'reserve' a table for himself by writing 'South' on a piece of paper which he kept on the table, but then South Korea and South Africa arrived as well. The author just forgot about South Sudan.
And since the 2P world's humans were never as superstitious as the 1P world, there aren't a lot of magical creatures. And Alida doesn't have a native population, as stated previously, which is why she asks Anika. Tokoloshe are South African boogeymen. I added that because earlier this week, my sister and I watched a few youtube videos. I'm not sure which one it was, but one of the videos mentioned Pinky Pinky, a Tokoloshe that hides in the girls' bathroom and attacks them, and it especially despises the colour pink. And both of us were surprised that we didn't even know about it.
And Viktor and Irina are really hurting Dimitri. It's only a matter of time before he can't take it anymore.
