Chapter 69: Twin Connection
After they finished dinner, William and Lobsang approached Matthew. He cocked his head to the side, but waited patiently for them.
"You know that spell cast on you that makes you invisible?" William asked. "I found the counter spell."
"It is wise that we undo it before the Deathplayers use it to their advantage," Lobsang said.
Matthew looked at them with wide eyes, but there was pure happiness in the blue-violet depths.
"Thank you," Matthew said.
…
Luciano tapped her fingers impatiently, looking at the clock. She and her brothers were having dinner.
Francesco finally came out of the room, since the other Nations were gone, though he was still a little nervous around the female version of his brother, and Flavio came out because he figured that Luciano was no longer dangerously angry.
Luciano looked over towards Flavio before looking back to the clock. She hadn't told him that she intended to pay his counterpart another visit. Knowing him, he might take it personal, and it would be annoying.
She wondered how long the magic trio would take before finding a spell to turn her back into a man. She really didn't want to have to deal with being a female for all eternity.
…
Hyung Soo didn't know how he felt about his current situation.
They had decided, in order to prevent the Deathplayers from releasing any more of those 'beasts', that no one would be left alone.
And that included having sleeping partners.
He was already hurt from being tortured by the other Japan and Hyo Soo, and now he had to share a bed with Yong Soo.
Im Yong Soo was not a peaceful sleeper. Never had been, and never would be.
Jeng Soo didn't sleep, but he would keep an eye on the two of them.
He still wanted to ask Jeng Soo about what Hyo Soo had done to him to earn a reaction like the one he had given them.
…
They were just about to perform the spell when three figures suddenly appeared in the room.
"The hero has returned!" Alfred's familiar voice said.
Will groaned, rubbing his temples.
"Artie is right," Will said. "The American git does have a habit of interrupting important spells."
Alfred looked confused and a little insulted, but Matt pushed him aside to glare at Lobsang.
"What exactly are you trying to do to Matthew?" he demanded.
The Tibetan sighed, fixing a level stare at Matt.
"We are going to undo what has been done," Lobsang said. "When we are finished, he will no longer become invisible."
Matt was surprised, and if you would look closer, you would see the elation and relief in his eyes.
"Then by all means, don't let me stop you," Matt said, going to the door.
"Could you at least please keep America away?" Will asked.
Alfred pouted as Rosa dragged him out of the room, laughing all the way.
…
When it was time to sleep, Feliciano curled up between her two brothers. Since they were already used to sleeping together in the same bed, they had no issue with the new arrangements that everyone had to make.
She didn't know if Luciano would come again, but in case of that happening, she was ready. She couldn't explain it, but ever since being transformed into a woman, she had been feeling braver than she ever did when she was a man.
Frankly, if she had the choice, she would prefer to be a woman for the rest of her life.
…
Hyo Soo looked at the clock, smirking.
He had waited the entire day so that he could pay his counterpart a visit. And if not his counterpart, then his brother's.
He would find Jeng Soo, and when he did, he would drag the Northern brother back by force, and he would make sure that he never escaped again.
Last time, he had to keep Jeng Soo to make sure that the other Nations didn't take advantage of him, dragging the Southern brother down as well. Now, he had to make sure that Jeng Soo didn't help their enemies, and he needed to make sure that he still had control over his brother's land.
He also wondered if it was possible to control someone through their dreams. It would be an interesting test. And he was sure some of the others would enjoy that.
Keeping that in mind, he waited patiently for the chance to go into his counterpart's or his counterpart's brother's head, and then he would be able to have some fun.
…
Marius was sitting at the table, head firmly on the surface. The rest of the magic trio, as well as the Slavic siblings, were standing nearby.
"So we have a potential apocalypse," Viktor stated.
"Da," Marius's muffled voice was heard. "And we helped it along."
"We need to warn Italy," Natasha said.
"He won't listen to us," Irina sighed. "Even if the world stops turning, he would not stop until his target is completely broken. Poland is the same way."
"And unless they're one of the pieces, they aren't going to back down," Marius said. She lifted her head. "Poland is one of the pieces. We might be able to convince him if he knows what's in store."
"Poland is stubborn," Viktor said. "He will not stop until he sees what happens."
"But he might stop if Lithuania told him to," Marius pointed out. "After all, the Deathplayers already have Lithuania."
"How do we know that Lithuania would be able to be contacted? For all we know, the Deathplayers could have killed him, or kidnapped him."
"They had a chance to do that with Bulgaria, and they didn't," Sigurd said. "I say we take a chance."
…
Feliks was lying awake in her bed, Eduard and Raivis next to her.
They had all been shocked to hear that Toris was missing, and that he had been taken by the Deathplayers. She wondered what he would be like. From what the others said of their encounters with New Zealand and Bulgaria, she could only imagine what her friend would be like.
She couldn't sleep, remembering the Deathplayer that had approached her. He had done nothing to hurt her, or make her feel threatened. Yet between the two Nations that she had known for years, she feared the danger that would come. And she couldn't sleep, because then Felic would get her.
The Deathplayers were right. Nations were the ones that were dangerous.
…
Lovino started to hyperventilate as he looked around the room.
He knew the room. He had been there before.
It was where he had met Luciano.
At least Marcello wasn't with him this time.
"Ciao, Lovi," a cold voice said behind him.
Lovino swallowed nervously, and he turned to see the very person who he didn't want to see standing behind him.
"L-Luciano," Lovino whispered.
"Si, and now it's time to play again."
…
Yong Soo was surprised when he suddenly found himself in a strange room. There were no windows that led to the outside, and one door.
He decided to see where the door led, and was almost surprised when he found it unlocked. He walked around for a while, trying to figure out where he was or why he was there.
He would occasionally find a door that was locked, and he could see sunlight streaming from underneath.
He finally reached a bedroom, but the moment he crossed the threshold, he felt a feeling of danger. He found himself wanting to retreat from the room without knowing why.
"I was wondering how long it would take you to find this room," a voice said from behind him.
Yong Soo's eyes widened when he heard the voice. It was unmistakably familiar, since it was his own.
He turned slowly to see a smirking face behind him.
"Hyo," he whispered.
…
Roderich sighed, looking at his bandaged fingers.
He had managed to call Elizaveta, who had immediately come to him. And in the morning, she would return to join the rest of the Nations, and he would accompany her.
She told him about what was going on, and he had received an email from England, addressed to all Nations, but focused on those that weren't at his house. The email warned them that none of them should be alone, as there are those with every intention of torturing the Nations.
And after what he had been through earlier, he had no reason to doubt the Englishman's claim.
…
Tolys groaned when he heard his phone ringing, effectively waking him up. He fished around in his pockets before finding the infernal device.
"What?" he groaned.
"How is it that you sound masculine?!" a familiar voice said from the other end.
Tolys winced, clutching his head.
"Not so loud!" he hissed.
"I wasn't… Lithuania, what exactly happened to you?"
"You tell me. I feel like I've been hit by a train. My head is killing me, and I can barely move. What the hell is this?"
There was silence for a few moments, and during that time Tolys attempted to sit up, without much success.
"Romania?" he hissed.
"We shouldn't have done it," Romania said. "We should have left well enough alone."
"What the hell are you talking about?"
"Our games with our counterparts… Apparently, it sped up something we would have never foreseen."
"And what is that?"
"The Apocalypse."
…
Feliciano and Marcello were awoken when Lovino started screaming. The two tried to shake their brother awake, without success.
"Do you think it's…?" Marcello asked, eyes wide in fear.
Feliciano's eyes hardened, and she jumped out of bed.
"I'm going to see England or one of his brothers," Feliciano said. "We're going to get fratello back."
…
"What is this place?" Yong Soo demanded.
Hyo Soo chuckled, stepping closer.
"This was the house I built for Jeng," Hyo Soo said. "This was to make sure that the other Nations didn't take advantage of him."
Yong Soo took a step back. He might not be the most attentive Nation, but he could piece together what he had seen. The fact that the building had no windows, and that all the doors to the outside were locked…
"This is where you kept him prisoner," Yong Soo whispered.
"I guess you could say that," Hyo Soo said, stepping closer. "Of course, I had to make sure that he didn't get away. And I had to punish him whenever he tried. After the first few decades, he learned to be obedient."
Yong Soo took a step back, hearing the echoes of screams. They sounded like Hyung's screams, but he realised they were Jeng's. The knowledge didn't make it any less painful.
"How could you do it to your own brother?" Yong Soo whispered.
"If I didn't do it, someone else would," Hyo Soo spat. "And they wouldn't have been as merciful as me. If one of us falls, so does the other! I will not allow Jeng's weakness to bring me down!"
Yong Soo stared at his counterpart in a mixture of horror and pity. Of course, they had discovered that fact a long time ago, but it became a different matter once they had become separated. It was probably the reason why Hyung Soo didn't want to unite with Yong Soo, even though they both missed each other's company, no matter how many times Hyung denied it.
Yong Soo was brought out of his thoughts when he suddenly found chains wrapping around his wrists. He gasped, and the chains dragged him towards the bed.
"A while ago, Poland did something called 'sleep paralysis'," Hyo Soo said. "That got me thinking. I wonder if I could take over your body through the dream."
Yong Soo's eyes widened, and he immediately knew what it meant. If Hyo Soo woke up in his body, he would immediately be able to get to Hyung and Jeng. And Yong Soo didn't want either North Korea to be in harm's way.
But no matter how much he struggled, he couldn't break free. He panicked when Hyo Soo straddled his hips, placing a hand on his forehead.
"I don't know if this will work," Hyo Soo said, "but let's try anyway."
And Yong Soo screamed.
…
Arthur, Will and Alistair were awoken by the door being slammed open.
They decided that the three of them should share a room, while the Ireland twins shared their own.
"What the bloody hell is going on?!" Arthur demanded, glaring at the Nation that woke her.
Under normal circumstances, the Italian would be trembling in fear under the harsh glare, but these weren't normal circumstances.
"I want you to take me into my fratello's dream," Feliciano demanded.
The three Brits stared at her for a moment, before Will sighed.
"I think a dream charm would work," Will said, standing up. "I've had a few of them made with Jamaica, just in case."
He searched around the dresser for a moment before producing a charm made from stones, glass and fabrics. Feliciano took it.
"Grazie," she said, before spinning around and leaving the room.
"I pity whoever decided to make Italy angry," Arthur said.
"When nice people become pissed, you know that you're in trouble," Alistair agreed.
…
Hyung Soo was awoken by his brother's scream. He didn't know if it was a scream of pain, fear or anguish. Perhaps it was all of the above.
Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Jeng Soo moving closer, but at the moment, it didn't matter. He just needed to get his goofy brother to wake up from whatever was causing those screams.
"Yong," Hyung Soo said, shaking his shoulders. "Please, wake up Yong."
He would never admit how much it pained him to hear his brother screaming like that.
Yong Soo's eyes snapped open, and Hyung Soo breathed a sigh of relief, before Yong Soo's hand wrapped around his throat. His eyes widened as Yong Soo rolled them over, pinning Hyung Soo to the bed.
"Yong, what are you…?" Hyung began, before he froze.
He finally took the time to look into Yong Soo's eyes, and what he saw terrified them. The brown eyes were blank, but he could see specks of blue appearing in the irises.
This was not his brother.
"What are you doing?!" Jeng Soo demanded.
"Hello, brother," Yong Soo said, but the tone was not anything that Yong Soo would ever use.
Both North Koreans could connect the voice and tone to one person.
"Hyo," Jeng Soo whispered.
Hyo Soo chuckled, before he tightened the grip on Hyung Soo's throat.
"I had a feeling that you would be somewhere around the two of them," Hyo Soo said. "I just didn't expect all three of you to be in the same room. How… cosy."
"Let them go," Jeng Soo demanded.
"No, I don't think I will," Hyo Soo said. "You see, I want you to come back home, and if these two are the way to do it, then so be it."
"I'm not going anywhere!"
Hyo Soo tightened his grip again, and Hyung Soo made a choking noise.
"I'm going to force you, one way or the other," Hyo Soo said. "You always were a bit of a softie. Tell me, do you care for our counterparts?"
Hyung Soo looked over towards Jeng Soo, and he could see the conflict in his eyes. Tell the truth, or tell a lie that would save them. Either way, his words could spell doom.
Hyo Soo seemed to take his silence as answer enough, and he chuckled.
"Then let's go home," Hyo Soo said. "I'll even let you take the two of them along, and you can keep each other company."
There was a brief flicker of fear in Jeng Soo's eyes, before he closed them in defeat. Hyung Soo saw all of this, and he could immediately tell that something happened between the two of them.
He gasped when the grip around his throat suddenly tightened, and he looked up to see Hyo Soo's eyes widen in confusion and something else. The eyes suddenly clenched shut, and the next words that came from the South Korean's mouth made him almost cry out in relief.
"Get… out… of my… head…"
That tone. It was Yong Soo! His brother was fighting back against his counterpart.
"Couldn't you have… waited?" Hyo Soo spat.
It was interesting, seeing South Korea arguing with himself. But that provided the perfect opportunity.
Jeng Soo pushed him off of Hyung Soo and the bed, and Hyung Soo took grateful gulps of air.
South Korea hit his head when he landed on the floor, and he slumped as he blacked out.
"Are you okay?" Jeng Soo asked.
Hyung Soo nodded, still trying to catch his breath. The two turned their attention to South Korea.
They would only be able to tell when he woke up which South Korean it was.
…
Lovino screamed as Luciano stuck another knife into his shoulder.
He was pinned down once again, and Luciano enjoyed slicing his skin, watching him bleed and hearing his screams.
Lovino grunted as the knife was pulled out, and his eyes widened when Luciano stuck his fingers into the wound, opening the wound even further.
"You know, I never allowed anyone to do something like this to Flavio," Luciano said, withdrawing his fingers. "I would never do something to hurt my fratelli."
"Then why are you doing it to me?!" Lovino demanded.
"I guess it's because you remind me of what Flavio used to be like," Luciano said, licking his fingers. "He used to be tough. He used to be a fighter. But after a ceiling fell on his head, he became obsessed with fashion, and he refused to torture someone because the blood would stain his clothes. I guess I'm mad that that Flavio abandoned me. Not that I don't love my fratellone, I just want to see the old one again. So I'm taking it out on you."
Lovino screamed when the knife was pushed between two of his ribs.
I'm going to cut it off here, otherwise it gets too long. I wanted this chapter to focus on the Koreans and the Italy brothers, but now it's mostly Korea brothers and next chapter would be the Italy brothers.
