Thanks to krys, Mx Akiyata and madders10 for reviewing.
Okay, so this chapter continues with Italy, and then there's also more torture for someone else I kind of foreshadowed before. But let's focus on the fact that this chapter contains an angry North Italian and South Korean. When the happiest people become pissed, the devil shudders.
Disclaimer: I don't own Hetalia.
Chapter 70: Italian Devil
Hyo Soo found himself back in the room, glaring at his counterpart, who had managed to break free from the chains.
"You just couldn't let me finish, could you?" Hyo Soo spat.
"I won't let you hurt either of my brothers," Yong Soo said.
"Jeng isn't your brother."
"He might as well be. Especially after everything you did to him!"
"And how would you know what I've done to him?"
"While you were hijacking my body, I saw your memories. I know everything."
And Yong Soo launched himself at his counterpart.
…
Marcello looked up when Feliciano entered the room, a look of determination on her face.
"I'm going to get fratello back," Feliciano whispered, holding up the charm.
…
"Please stop!" Lovino shouted.
Luciano kept pushing the knife between two ribs, always keeping it shallow enough so as not to puncture the lungs, but still making sure that the blade scraped against the bone, tearing as much as possible.
Luciano just laughed, removing the knife, looking for another place where he could stab it.
"He said to stop," a cold, familiar voice said.
Both Italians widened their eyes, and they turned to look at the speaker.
Feliciano was standing there with her arms crossed, a murderous look in her eyes. She was still a female, in spite of being in the dream. Lovino had never seen such an angry look on his fratello's – sorella's – face.
"How are you here?" Luciano asked, not moving from his spot next to Lovino. "And how is it that you're a woman while here?"
"I found I rather like being a woman," Feliciano said. "And I asked England and her brothers for a way to get in."
Luciano chuckled.
"And what are you going to do, cry?" Luciano taunted.
Feliciano walked over towards the wall, and to both of the males' surprise, she punched it. But that's not all. She punched a hole straight through the wall, and cracks started to appear like a spider web from the point of impact.
She turned back to her counterpart, eying him murderously.
"Things are going to be different this time," she said, her voice even colder than before.
…
Gupta didn't know where he was. But he recognised the architecture as something that was built by his mother's people.
He felt a shudder go down his spine, and he immediately turned around. His eyes widened when he saw two figures standing nearby, one resembling Heracles and the other resembling Sadiq.
Gupta took a nervous step back as the two grinned at him.
"It's been a while since we played with little Egypt," the Turkey lookalike said.
"And even longer since we last heard him scream," the Greece lookalike said.
Gupta immediately turned and ran, trying hard to ignore the pounding footsteps behind him. Even though he knew this was a dream, he knew he had to get as far away as possible.
Sadiq had warned him that Mustafa would try to do something like this, and Omar had told him what the two were capable of.
…
Omar kept pacing around, looking nervously between the three Southern Africans and the door.
Alida had ordered her to stay by Anika's side, and Jana and Theresa had decided that they would sleep alongside their sister. But the Egyptian had a feeling that something else was happening in another part of the mansion. Something that was relevant to her.
She absentmindedly rubbed the scars at her throat and froze. It had been a while since the incident, and also since the last time they…
Omar's eyes widened. It had been fifty years since the last time Turkey and Greece had 'played' with her. Alida had made sure that the two left the Egyptian alone. But with the opportunity to enter someone else's dreams, and no one able to save them…
She looked over towards Anika one last time before turning to the door. She hoped the South Africans would be able to forgive her. But at the moment, her counterpart was possibly in more danger.
…
Jeng Soo and Hyung Soo had moved South Korea to the bed. They were paranoid, and tore a sheet, creating a rope. They would have to reimburse the British siblings later. They tied South Korea's wrists together, for they didn't know which South Korea would open his eyes. And in the case that it was Hyo Soo, they needed to be prepared.
…
Lovino screamed, right before Feliciano launched herself at Luciano.
Luciano had taken one more shot at Lovino by stabbing a knife at the joint where the bones of the hip and leg met. The knife had been completely imbedded into Lovino's flesh, and he knew that there was no way he would be able to get it out without some help, and a possible anaesthesia.
Lovino was in too much pain to notice that Feliciano had punched Luciano in the jaw, sending the darker Italian to the ground. He also didn't notice the satisfying crunch when Feliciano did so.
He vaguely heard Feliciano yelp when a knife was thrown at her, grazing her upper arm. And he didn't notice when Luciano stood, inching closer to Lovino.
The Southern Italian was in so much pain, and he just wanted it to stop. He could already see black spots dotting his vision.
"Oh no," Luciano's voice pierced the haze of his mind, right before a kick was delivered to the side of his head. "You are not passing out."
"Leave my fratello alone!" Feliciano shrieked, lunging at Luciano with her fist.
Lovino had tears in his eyes as he watched his fratello – no, his sorella – fighting her counterpart with a strange ferociousness. It was almost as though she had become a beast.
While Feliciano was fighting Luciano, Lovino struggled in an attempt to free his clothes from the knives that were pinning him to the floor. One thing he could say about Luciano was that he knew how to work with knives. He was stuck.
Eventually, though, he managed to free one of the knives, and he started to work on the others.
…
Both Yong Soo and Hyo Soo appeared to be equally matched. They were both skilled in hand-to-hand combat, but Hyo Soo was brutal, while Yong Soo had more energy.
Hyo Soo wiped blood away from his chin, and Yong Soo did the same below his nose. The two launched at each other again, Hyo Soo's fist connecting with Yong Soo's cheek while the other's fist connected with his eye.
The two then, as one, did something that they would normally never do, no matter what.
They grabbed hold of the other's curl.
…
Gupta kept running, not intent on allowing the other two to catch up to him. He was thankful that he had always been faster than the other two.
He turned a corner, not interrupting his speed, and arrived at a crossroads. It was at that point that he realised that the halls were designed as a labyrinth.
He came to a stop, trying to figure out where he should go next. If it was a labyrinth, then he could easily avoid them until he managed to find an exit.
He heard the footsteps of the other two, and immediately went left. He tried to ignore the hieroglyphs on the wall, which he discovered told the story of everything that Alexandros and Mustafa had done to Omar. He didn't want his own story to join the wall.
…
Omar rushed into the room where Gupta was staying and froze. The other Egyptian was sleeping between Turkey and Greece, the others having wrapped their arms around her.
Swallowing nervously, she walked closer, grabbing the other's shoulders and shaking.
Gupta remained asleep, and Omar took note of the other's breathing. Gupta's breathing was fast, but it didn't sound as though the other was in pain, but… running perhaps?
Omar felt her panic rise. She knew the game. The other two had occasionally locked her in a labyrinth, and she had tried to run before they found her. But there was no exit, and all the paths would eventually lead to either a dead end or the same room.
And then they would get her.
She just knew that that was what was happening.
She turned to Gupta's bed mates, and admitted to herself that she might need their help. She first turned to Turkey, and did something that she had wanted to do for a long time.
She slapped him.
Turkey immediately woke up, and she cringed when she saw his eyes staring intently at her. But she shook it off and went to Greece's side, doing the same.
"What was that for?" Turkey asked.
Omar looked towards him before gesturing towards Gupta.
"We can't be alone, and Cyprus isn't here," Turkey said, misunderstanding her. "And there's no way that I'm sleeping next to the brat."
"Hey…" Greece began.
Omar smacked her forehead, before grabbing each of their respective curls and yanking, earning pained cries from both of them.
"What the…?" Turkey said.
Omar gestured to Gupta again, and Greece seemed to realise something.
"Something's wrong," Greece said.
Omar gestured with her hands, clearly saying Thank you! with the action.
"Oh no," Turkey said. "Mustafa."
"We need to save him," Greece said.
Omar gestured again.
How?
"Let's try to wake him up," Turkey said.
Omar massaged her forehead. Obviously, they hadn't paid attention when the others told them that while someone was invading their dreams, they couldn't be woken.
The trio turned their attentions to Gupta when the other suddenly gasped.
…
Luciano gritted his teeth, staring at his counterpart.
Feliciano was physically stronger than him, something that he couldn't comprehend. She was also really relentless.
His eyes drifted to Lovino, who was trying to free himself from the knives pinning him down. Luciano smirked, before Feliciano scratched him across the cheeks. He retaliated by kneeing her in the stomach, earning a grunt.
Feliciano reeled back, and Luciano took the chance. He went to Lovino, and grabbed the back of the other's shirt, pulling him up. Lovino yelped and started to struggle. The remaining knives had disappeared, as per the rules of dream manipulation. He dragged Lovino to his feet, placing yet another knife against his throat.
"Fratello!" Feliciano yelled.
Luciano panted, and he noticed that Lovino was trembling in his grip.
"That's it," Luciano said. "You wouldn't dare attack me with your fratello like this."
"You coward!" Feliciano shouted.
Luciano snorted, noticing the irony in the other's words. He pressed his knife closer to Lovino's throat, earning a gasp.
Feliciano's eyes widened, and Luciano grinned.
"Now, do you think you can get to me without hurting your fratello?" Luciano taunted.
With the hand not holding the knife, he grabbed one of Lovino's wrists and twisted it, earning a strangled cry from the Southern Italian.
Feliciano looked conflicted. On one hand, she wanted to save her brother, while on the other, she didn't want to risk him getting hurt. Luciano knew this and grinned.
Something then happened that he didn't expect.
Lovino rammed his head back, impacting with Luciano's nose. Luciano yelped and clutched his bleeding nose, releasing Lovino in the process.
Lovino scrambled to stand next to Feliciano, who looked happy at first, then she turned to glare at Luciano.
"You know what," Luciano said, "it's not worth it."
…
Gupta kept running, hoping to get as far away from the other two Mediterraneans as possible. That plan was stopped, however, when he reached a dead end.
He turned to double back, but let out a gasp when he saw the other two standing only a meter away from him.
"Gotcha," Alexandros said.
The two advanced on him, and he tried to get away, but Mustafa grabbed him, and despite his struggling, he was pinned to the floor, with the Turk sitting down on his stomach.
"Thanks for the exercise," Mustafa said. "Now, what should we do with you?"
"I have a few ideas," Alexandros said. "But let's make him scream. It's been a while since we heard Egypt's screams."
"So it has," the Turk mused.
Mustafa moved his hand to Gupta's earring and yanked it out, earning a choked sound.
Gupta refused to give them the satisfaction of hearing him scream.
"Does this one have a voice?" Alexandros asked, looking a little disappointed.
"One way to find out," Mustafa said, pulling out a dagger. "If you don't say something in the next ten seconds, I'm going to assume you're mute and cut out your tongue."
Gupta's eyes widened.
"I can speak," he said, his voice a little panicked.
"There we go," Mustafa said, a smirk on his face.
Gupta believed he now knew why Heracles hated that expression on the Turk's face.
Alexandros walked closer, grinning down at the Egyptian.
"You seem to want to act strong," Alexandros said. "Let's see how long it will last."
…
They watched as Gupta thrashed for a moment, before lying still.
"What do you think they would do to him?" Heracles asked.
He and Sadiq turned their attention to Omar, who had a hand placed over her throat, a look of fear in her eyes. It took the two a moment to process this before their eyes widened.
"Are you saying that… our counterparts…?" Sadiq said.
She looked towards them, and the two were able to see many different emotions in her eyes. Fear, horror, anger…
The two noted that it was the first time that they were alone with Omar, without Gupta being around. They then recalled when Omar removed Sadiq's mask, as though it was offensive. And now they knew. They knew that, after what their counterparts did, Omar couldn't get too close to them. She wouldn't. She would look at them and see her tormentors.
Would Gupta be the same once she woke up?
They looked towards Gupta when she let out a choked sound, and they could see her left ear start to bleed where her earring was.
"We need to do something," Heracles said.
"Gupta's going to be in a lot of pain," Sadiq said, turning to Omar. "Mustafa said that they want to hear him scream. But Gupta is strong. He won't give in easily."
This caused Omar to widen her eyes, and she sank to her knees.
There was nothing they could do but wait for the screaming to start.
…
"LET GO!"
The two Koreans kept pulling the other's curl while trying to pull away from the other's hand. At the moment, it was a competition of who can escape the other's grip first.
Of course, pain shot through their bodies as the sensitive piece of hair was pulled mercilessly, and that pain outmatched the pain from their fight.
They tilted away, and in that effort Yong Soo shifted his wrist a little, and suddenly he was falling backwards as Hyo Soo howled in pain.
He looked down at his hand, seeing a piece of the curl. Oops.
It hadn't been completely pulled out, but it would still cause a vast amount of pain.
Yong Soo watched as the world around the two became dark, Hyo Soo's screams echoing in his head.
…
Gupta gritted his teeth as Alexandros closed his hand over a fruit.
As he had learned, this fruit was from their world and was called 'Deadly Shell', simply because the shell of the fruit was incredibly spiky. Oh, and apparently the shell was coated in some sort of toxin that burned the skin when touched.
Gupta refused to scream, even though he felt as though his hand was on fire. Mustafa sighed from his position atop the Egyptian.
"This isn't working," the Turk said. "We need to try another tactic."
Alexandros let go of Gupta's hand, and the Egyptian immediately released the fruit, ignoring the blood on his hand.
Mustafa stood, but grabbed Gupta before he could scramble away. The Turk hauled the Egyptian up, and Gupta was once again pinned, this time against the other's chest with his back towards the Turk, facing the Greek.
"This will be fun," Alexandros said, grabbing hold of one of Gupta's wrists and twisted with enough force to earn a loud crack.
Gupta hissed in pain, but he refused to scream.
"Stubborn, aren't you?" Mustafa remarked. "Maybe we should take him to the room?"
Gupta's eyes widened. What room?
…
Marcello watched his brother and sister. After using the charm, Feliciano had pretty much passed out, and he wasn't sure what to do.
He jumped when both of his older siblings jumped up, their eyes wide. It took a moment for the two to orient themselves before Feliciano threw her arms around Lovino's shoulders.
"Oh fratello, are you hurt?" Feliciano cried.
Well, there was the Feliciano they were used to.
"I'm fine," Lovino huffed. "Now come on. I think we need to patch ourselves up. I'll go get the first aid kit."
Marcello wanted to protest, and Feliciano looked like she was about to protest when Lovino pushed himself to his feet, limping slightly to the door. It was obvious that their older brother wanted to prove that he was strong.
After taking a few steps Lovino froze, and the other two looked at him in confusion.
"Ve, are you alright fratello?" Feliciano asked.
"…I can't move," Lovino said.
"What do you mean?" Marcello asked.
"Dammit, I can't move! That bastard stabbed me in the hip, and now my entire leg won't respond."
The two younger Italians shared a look before rushing to the other's side, guiding him to the bed.
"I'll go get the kit," Marcello stated.
…
Hyung Soo and Jeng Soo watched as Yong Soo's eyes opened. They were wary at first, until they saw Yong Soo acting confused instead of hostile.
"Um, why am I tied up?" he asked.
The two North Koreas breathed a sigh of relief, before moving to undo the other's bonds.
"We were afraid Hyo Soo would come back," Jeng Soo explained. "How did you win, anyway? Hyo is ruthless when it comes to fighting."
"Um, yeah," Yong Soo said, looking nervous. "I don't think he'll try again anytime soon."
"What makes you say that?" Hyung Soo asked.
"I might have, accidentally, broken his curl."
There was silence for a few moments.
"You did what?"
Looks like dream torture will continue next chapter, focusing on Gupta, and maybe other characters.
So, character notes say that NyoItaly is a hothead and is a lot braver than her male counterpart. She also becomes really strong when she is angry. Strong enough to flip the conference table. So if anyone thinks that Feliciano was OOC in this chapter, keep in mind that the character is now female, and it is perfectly in character for NyoItaly to be this way. Seriously, fics where NyoItaly has the personality of normal Italy tend to annoy me because NyoItaly is a badass.
Also, when Lovino couldn't move is based on something that happened to me. I tore the cartilage in my left hip a few years ago, but we didn't know it at first. So we had to do a lot of tests, and one of them involved an MRI with the needle going where the knife went in this chapter. Later, when I went to get myself a glass of water, my hip locked and I couldn't move at all. It happened a few times after that as well. Seriously not good if your hip and consequently your leg is unresponsive while driving, especially when driving a stick-shift. But yeah, being unable to move like that is scary, and if there's an injury involved, it's also really painful.
