The weather outside is perfect for a cruise, especially for those on it. Everyone's having a good time on the top deck as they wait for their destination. But one event's taking place that's sure to pass the time…
Everyone is on the top deck dancing to the beat of loud music. The footsteps fell on deaf ears over the strong tempo the tunes produced. Everyone below the deck and then some could hear it, but they didn't care. In fact, they're dancing to the beat like the others. It's like the music is hypnotic but it didn't mattered. The entire ship became a private festival!
But no one was more hyped up than one certain girl among the crowd. The fluent moves matched the beat of the music in a way far surpassed than the others. It's like art perfected, and everyone followed her lead the best they could. But as amateur as their move are, she doesn't care. All she cares about is dancing the day and night away with all her new friends!
"HEY-HEY!" she praised, "IT'S SAMBA AT THE CARNIVAL!"
"Hey, are you alright?" a voice asked, "C'mon, wake up…"
Jason groaned as his entire world spun. He opened his eyes, but there's nothing he could see.
"It's dark in here, so you need a minute to adjust to it." Wait, now he remembered the voice.
"Yusei? Wha-" Jason stood up but winched as he reached back and felt a stinging, sensitive spot on his head.
"It looks like you've been hit pretty hard there too, huh?" Yusei asked, kneeling beside his fellow Signer.
"Please tell me you know where we are…" Jason groaned.
"All I can tell's that we're moving in the back of a truck," Yusei figured, "But I don't know where we're heading. Do you remember anything about before walking up here?"
"…Now that you mention it, I was out shopping when I heard someone calling for help from an alley nearby. I went to see I can help but...the rest is just a major blur."
"So we're both in the same boat," Yusei said, "The question is, who put us here?"
"A reasonable question," they both looked back in caution as a video screen flicked on, revealing a man with a mop of red hair wearing a suit, "I'm glad to see you finally woke up. I trust you're finding your accommodations pleasant? Did you notice the mint on your pillow?"
"Who are you people?!" Yusei demanded.
"Oh, we're just a nice bunch of citizens devoted to social justice and family values."
"Not quite the vibe I got from those thugs you sent." Jason retorted.
"Oh, them? We employ some rough types. It keeps 'em off the streets."
"What do you want with us?" Yusei asked.
"I can see that you're not interested in a sarcastic tête-à-tête. So I'll cut to the proverbial chase. You're both incredible turbo-duelists. So I'm sure you're already aware that the World Racing Grand Prix's fast approaching. I'm putting together a team to compete, and I want you guys on it."
"Oh yeah? Well thanks, but I'm afraid I'm not available," Yusei rejected, "I've already formed a team."
"And if you wanted me on your team then all you had to do is ask up front and politely," Jason added, "But too, little too late. so if you could just pull over and drop us off, that'd be great." Their captor replied with laughs of amusement, "Something funny?!"
"You will be joining my team one way or another. You can either sign up voluntarily, or we can take you to see our psychiatrist. He's got a fascinating way with people's minds, although he's a bit of a 'control freak', if ya know what I mean."
"Listen, 'buddy'," Yusei shot back, "I'm gettin' a little tired of your jokes!"
"You think I'm joking?! You really don't wanna mess with me, my friend. I'm not exactly what you would call, a 'well-balanced person'?"
"I can see that…" Jason muttered under his breath.
"Now please, just sit back, relax, and enjoy the view. Because you, aren't going anywhere!"
But their kidnapping didn't go unnoticed. When no word was heard from Yusei or Jason, a few of their friends decided to act and look for them. The search spread out across the highways.
"No sign of 'em! It's like they vanished into thin air!" Kenichi muttered as he rode on his duel-runner.
"No one just disappears," David said through a channel, as he rode through a different street. "If they never called back then clearly something has happened to them."
"Are you sure you looked everywhere?" Crow asked, "Like Oil-Slick Alley? Pier 23?"
"If you're so worried about Yusei, why don't you go look for 'im?" Jack questioned.
"I would, but, Clucker's Deep-Fried Chicken doesn't deliver itself. I'm on the clock."
"I tried that 'Ultra-Crispy Crisper' the other day. It's a little heavy on the paprika, but otherwise I—"
"How are you talking about fast food right now?!" Akiza shouted over the link, "What if Crow's right and something awful's happened to Yusei!" she huffed and sat back in the open-top jeep with Mina driving. "Ugh! Man, these yahoos!"
"Hey, you're preaching to the choir." Magic agreed.
"I'm sure Yusei's okay," Mina assured, "So, he didn't call Crow back. No big deal."
"Well, actually…It's not just that," Crow said, "I also got this really weird message at the garage."
Flashback...
"Your friend Yusei Fudo has been taken. I thought you should know."
...End Flashback.
"What?! Why are you just now telling us this?!" Akiza snapped.
"I didn't wanna freak anyone out!"
"I am gonna cobble you when I see you!"
"I believe you mean 'clobber', Akiza," Jack corrected, "to cobble is to make a shoe."
"Well, whatever! Then I'm gonna cobble up some boots and use 'em to kick Crow's butt!"
"Huh. This 'Yusei' thing's got you going. If I didn't know any better, I'd say you were in love with—"
"Stop right there, Jack!"
"All I'm saying is—" but Jack's link was suddenly cut off.
"All you're sayin' is what, Jack?" Crow asked.
"What's going on?!" Magic wondered.
"There's an interference signal; like someone's trying to hack into the transmission." Mina pressed a button on the dash and an unfamiliar voice speaks to them.
"If you can hear this, the vehicle carrying Yusei is a soda delivery truck traveling north on Blue Hill Ave in Crescent Valley," both girls gasped in response, "You need to stop that vehicle, and rescue him before it reaches its destination."
"Who are you? Identify yourself!" Mina demanded, "This channel is reserved for Sector Security-!"
"Time is wasting." The stranger said and cut themselves from the channel.
"What should we do?"
"You heard him; move it!" Akiza insisted. The three changed course to the city coastline, where many tracks and roads extend across the ocean. "Well, we've just entered Crescent Valley," she then winched as her mark glowed, "Ugh, my arm's burning! Yusei must be close-by," a moment later, Akiza spotted a truck crossing their path on the highway directly beneath, "There it is! Get us down there on Irving, Mina, quick! I saw a soda delivery truck!" Mina took an exit that curved down to the freeway below, then merged into traffic ahead of a large truck. They can't see it ahead, but Akiza's glowing arm pulsed. "We're getting closer...!"
"Is that the truck?"
Akiza looked ahead of them, in the lane opposite to them, is the dragon soda truck. "That's it. They're in there! Now get us up there!"
Magic staid behind as the jeep drove in the space between the opposite lane and the edge of the road in their tiny jeep. Akiza stood in her seat as they approach the big truck.
"I feel it's my duty to tell you that it's dangerous to stand up in a moving vehicle-" Mina cautiously suggested.
"What about having nobody behind the wheel?" Akiza gasped, seeing no one on the driver's seat with the wheel turning on its own, "Is that dangerous?" as the truck sped up, her arm is burned even brighter. It hurts but she decided to put aside the pain, "Just stay on it. I'm getting him outta there!"
"What's this burning about?" Yusei wondered, winching as his mark lit the room.
"Rose Tentacles ought to do the trick!" Akiza activated her duel-disk and slapped her card on it. Her monster appeared, a huge rose plant with several vines it uses to lash and grip its foes. It roots itself on the roof, clinging to the sides with its vines, and started pounding on the back door with its leaves.
"Should I be concerned right now?" Mina wondered to Akiza.
"No, it's fine. Controlling my powers is not an issue anymore." After Rose Tentacle pounded the door a few more times the door finally caved in enough to open a gap between the two Signers and the outside. "Hey, did someone in there order a rescue?"
"Who's she?"
"A pizza delivery girl; how should I know?!" the Signers' abductor snapped.
"I'm just sayin', boss, it might be time to move on to Plan D."
"The 'if we can't have him, nobody can' plan. Well... they have seen my face now. Do it!"
"Sweet! Heheheheheh..."
Suddenly the gas pedal was floored and the truck sped up, causing Jason and Yusei to lose balance.
"Speed up!" Akiza demanded.
The trucked swerved and vanished upon being uprooted. By now the truck and the jeep were zooming along a highway built on the side of a cliff above the sea. The captives shoved the weakened doors open, now letting the two sides of the door are swinging free.
"Yusei!" Akiza reaching out as the truck's speed changed back and forth to keep their passengers off-balance. She leaps the gap and clung to the closest swinging door, barely hanging on.
"Akiza!" Yusei reached over and grabbed her wrist, pulling the door closer and letting her land safely inside the truck just in time for the hinge snap and the door Akiza was just standing on went flying, ripping her duel disk off with it. Mina tried to swerve and dodge the door and went spinning out of control.
"Oh well, there goes our ride!" Akiza muttered.
"I thought the idea was to get me out!" Yusei argued.
"Fine, next time I won't try to save you, I'll just leave you—," The truck jerked violently, interrupting the argument before it can start. The entire vehicle swerved wildly across two lanes trying to shake off the passengers. "So, d'ya think they'll slow down and let us off?"
"Can you guys argue after we're safely on solid ground?" Jason shuddered.
"I don't know if you noticed, but you do have a pair of duel-runners right behind you!" Magic called.
Akiza turned around and saw both Yusei and Jason carefully walking to their runners. "Uh-uh. No way. Forget about it. You are not serious."
Yusei pulls up a compartment under the seat and tossed Akiza a helmet before putting on a matching one, "I hope ya like red!"
"There's no way."
"You got another plan?"
"Yeah, we let this play out! We find out who's behind all of this!"
"And pray that his truck doesn't drive itself right off the road?!" Jason pointed out.
The truck suddenly jerked again.
"We don't have time to argue about this, Akiza!" Yusei said, "Come on, hurry up and hop on!"
"Forget it! Not gonna happen!"
A moment later, Akiza is sitting on the right-side crossbar, holding against the runner while Yusei revs the engine. "Hold on as tight as ya can."
Akiza began to panic as the combined engines on both duel-runners grew louder, "Okay, look, fine, I'll admit it! I've never ridden a duel runner before, okay?! I have a thing with super-fast moving objects. Especially when I'm on them. It's not that I—"
"Here we go!" Yusei warned.
"Oh boy."
Then Yusei sees an unfamiliar white and gold duel runner and rider closing in on Margaret and approaching the truck.
"What's up with this?! Reinforcements?!" Yusei wondered.
"Not that I know of!" Margaret said, confused as well.
"Then is he working for the guys that kidnapped us?" Jason questioned.
The strange rider was faceless in a maroon helmet with a visor and a grille, like the helmet of a medieval knight. As the white runner drew closer, we see it has spiky stylized flames on its front nose and back; shiny metal that imitates a horse's flowing mane and tail.
"Come forth, Yusei Fudo! Come forth and duel me!" the rider challenged, in a thick French accent, through his mask.
"Huh... great. This day keeps getting better."
The truck careens around another corner and scrapes against the side. The corner of the truck that keeps scraping is starting to show the wear.
"If we have to leave, we gotta do it now!" Jason suggested.
"So what're you gonna do?" Akiza asked.
"I don't think we have a whole lot of options; hang on!" Yusei said. As the truck was just smashing through the rail and over the cliff, Yusei and Jason flew free of it on their runners, right above the mysterious duelist and landed, speeding away with the mystery duelist and Margaret chasing after them. Meanwhile the duel-mode on Yusei's runner was triggered.
"You 'ave sprang from the frying pan, only to land in le flambé, Yusei Fudo!" the duelist taunted, "I have come to duel you!"
"What're you talking about!" Yusei demanded, "Why should I duel you?"
"You do not have a choice, Yusei Fudo. Your runner 'as been tinkered with. Should you stop while in duel mode, it will, how you say, explode. Go 'boom'."
"Are you serious?!"
"No way!" Akiza gasped.
"'No way' is right!" Margaret said, tailing the mystery duelist, "Whatever you're trying to pull I'm not having it! You want Yusei, you're gonna have to get through me to do it!"
"Is zat what you think…?" As they passed a junction another vehicle, small enough to carry one person, quickly met them at the main road. As it quickly closed the gap between it and Margaret, she could see that it was another duel-runner closing in. "I think you got it backwards. If you want a shot against me, you must go through my companion to do it."
"You're forgetting I'm here, too," Jason said. "I'm not letting Yusei go through this on his own, especially against someone like you!" Suddenly another duel-runner shot from off the cliffside overhead and landed right in the middle of the group, "See what I mean?!" the new rider proceeded to drifting against Jason's runner, forcing the duelist to swerve away until eventually he was lead into a separate junction.
"Jason!" Yusei gasped.
"Did you see who's on there, Yusei?!" Magic said, "It looks like one of those fullmetal suits one of the ghosts used!"
"Really? Are you sure?" Yusei asked.
"Sure am!" Magic glared at the mystery duelist, "So you're the one behind the whole thing, aren't you!"
"You seem to like shooting your mouth off. If you want answers so badly then let us 'ave our cards do the talking! I activate le Speed World Two field-spell!" the mystery duelist clicked on his console and activated the Speed World function.
Elsewhere, Jason's duel-runner buzzed with alarm, "Duel-Runner overridden. Riding Duel-Mode engaged."
"My runner's been hacked!" Jason gasped. A pulse of light then spread out from his and the challenger's runners in an arc, and the landscape around seems to saturate.
"If it's a duel you want then fine!" Jason challenged, drawing his starting hand. "I'm in!"
"Formulating cross-town duel course, and awaiting Central Grid Authority's official authorization..." the computer said, scanning the roads for a suitable course, "Authorization has been granted."
A combat lane emerged from the ocean perpendicular to the cliffs, streaming water off its sides. "A turbo-duel is about to commence. Combat lane transfiguration underway. All non-dueling vehicles must vacate the combat lane immediately."
Yusei, Margaret and the two mysterious riders merge onto a runner track through a sliding door in the side of the track.
"You're gonna duel this guy?!" Akiza asked.
"Yeah, I don't like it either," Yusei said, "but he hasn't exactly given me much of a choice!"
"Yusei! Let's switch to Tag Force mode!" Magic insisted, "That way we can have each other's back!"
"If you simply won't keep your distance then so be it," the French duelist growled, "But we'll do one better and make this a battle-royale!" he then adjusted the duel-mode on his console.
"Battle Royale Mode, Engaged."
"Well, better then nothing." Margaret muttered.
"I can't stop to let you off, Akiza," Yusei said, "so, uh... hang on."
"Don't worry about me; just concentrate on knocking these jerks into the next dimension!"
Yusei: 4000 (0)
Magic: 4000 (0)
Mystery Duelist 1: 4000 (0)
Mystery Duelist 2: 4000 (0)
"The first move is mine!" Yusei started the duel, "And I'll start with one card face-down! No more, no less!"
"Then it is my turn. I draw!" the first mystery duelist drew his first card, "I summon (1) Sacred Knight Spear-Holder(2/ATK: 800/DEF: 400) in DEF mode!" a female knight in heavy silver armor appeared with a gold spear in hand (DEF: 400), "And by placing one card face-down, I shall end my turn."
"Then I guess it's my turn to draw!" Magic started her turn, "I summon Crusader of Endymion in ATK mode!" the armored blue spellcaster appeared (ATK: 1900), "But since we're on battle-royale terms, I can't attack this turn!" a reverse-card then appeared, "One card face-down, and that's it!"
"It is my turn now," the second mystery duelist drew his card, "And I summon (11) Card Blocker(3/ATK: 400/DEF: 400) in DEF mode," a small knight I purple armor appeared (DEF: 400), "Then I place two cards face-down, and end my turn."
"It's my turn!" Yusei drew his next card, "Now that the first rounds over with, it's time to go on offense! I summon Speed Warrior to the field!" the skating grey warrior appeared (ATK: 900), "Due to its special-ability, Speed Warrior's attack points are doubled during the battle phase of the turn it was summoned (ATK: 1800) So now Speed Warrior, attack Spear-Holder with Hypersonic Slash!"
"Alas and alack, Yusei Fudo! I will reveal my trap card, Floral Shield!" the mystery duelist opened his reverse-card and Speed Warrior found itself blocked by a wall of white petals, "Zis negates your monster's attack, and allows me to draw one card!" Speed Warrior hesitated, and then attacked anyway only to be bounced off. The flower petals blow away and dissolve in the wind. "Hope you like ze flowers; looks like my game is in full bloom!"
Yusei groaned. "I place 3 cards face-down and end my turn. It's your move, 'buddy'."
"Merci," the mystery duelist drew his next card, "I summon, (2) Horse of ze Floral Knights(3/ATK: 400/DEF: 800)!" a white horse in majestic white armor appeared (ATK: 400), "And when she's summoned, I can draw one more card from my deck!" he drew another card, "And now with the power of zis card in play, my strategy shall truly begin to blossom!"
"I activate my face-down card, Tower of Babel!" Magic quickly opened her reverse-card. "This cards gets a spell-counter for every spell card activated."
"If you want counters so badly then I won't keep you waiting for long. I activate ze Speed Fusion speed-spell, which, because of my current speed, allows me to summon to ze field a fusion-monster! By fusing Sacred Knight Spear-Holder and Horse of ze Floral Knights together, I can summon, (4) Centaurmina(6/ATK: 2200/DEF: 1600)!" the two monsters merged and from the vortex came a new monster. Centaurmina is a female centaur with long, hot pink hair and a brown horse's body with a black tail. She wore an iron cuirass and carries a sword and shield, and her lower body wore ornate greaves and a backplate (ATK: 2200).
Towar of Babel: (CTR: 1)
"And now, Centaurmina, charge!" She turned and galloped towards Yusei.
"I reveal my trap card, Scrap-Iron Scarecrow!" Yusei activated his reverse-card, "This trap card can negate your monster's attack!"
"C'ha! But I activate Centaurmina's special-ability, which forces your trap card back into ze face-down position! So, I negate your negating!"
"Uh-oh."
Centaurmina trampled Scrap-Iron Scarecrow underfoot as she passed, "Vive la Revolucion, Centaurmina! Continue ze charge! Attack with Graceful Blade!" she circled behind Yusei's runner to ride up on Speed Warrior. She raised her sword and slashed through the monster.
Yusei: 2700 (6)
Magic: 4000 (6)
Mystery Duelist 1: 4000 (6)
Mystery Duelist 2: 4000 (6)
"I now place one card face-down to end my turn." A reverse-card appeared.
Jason: 4000
Armored Duelist: 4000
"Challengee takes priority! So I go first!" Jason drew his sixth card, "I activate the spell card Double Summon! With it I can summon 2 monsters in the same turn! So I'll bring out Torapart and The Immortal Bushi!" the twin-bodied tuner (ATK: 600) appeared along with the aged samurai (ATK: 1200), "But they won't be staying forlong because now I tune Immortal Bushi with Torapart in order to synchro-summon (10) Scarred Warrior(5/ATK: 2100/DEF: 1000)!" in place of the two weaker warriors came a much stronger one. This one looked like it went through many battles due to the prostetic metal right leg and bandaged right arm with a blade strapped from the wrist (ATK: 2100), "I place one card face-down, and end my turn."
"It is my turn," the silver-armored duelist announced from a distorted, flat voice under his helmet, "I summon (5) Koa'ki Meiru Boulder(4/ATK: 1200/DEF: 1000) in DEF position," a rough, cone-like boulder with limbs appeared, with a face of a jack-o-lantern, especially a carved-out mark above the face (DEF: 1000), "I set three cards. Turn end." three reverse-cards appeared.
"Then it's my turn!" Jason drew his next card, "I summon Command Knight in DEF mode!" the female red knight appeared (ATK: 1200), "And while she's out, every warrior on my field gets 400 ATK points!"
Command Knight: (ATK: 1200-1600)
Scarred Warrior: (ATK: 2100-2500)
"Now Commander Knight attacks your Boulder!" the knights swung her sword and sliced the boulder.
"Koa'ki Meiru Boulder's effect activates," the armored duelist said, "When it is destroyed, the owner may add one Iron Core of Koa'ki Meiru or, in alternative, one Koa'ki Meiru monster that is level-4-or-below," he pulled a card from the middle of his deck and showed his opponent the spell card, "I choose the Iron Core of Koa'ki Meiru."
'By the name of that card, that might be a crucial cog to this guy's deck,' Jason wondered, 'I wonder what he'll do with it...' "I'll end my turn!"
"It is my turn," the duelist drew his next card, "I summon (6) Koa'ki Meiru Urnight(4/ATK: 2000/DEF: 1500) in DEF position," a centaur-like monster in full bronze armor appeared, with a black sigil on the left side of its chest (DEF: 1500), "Koa'ki Meiru Urnight's effect activates: by revealing the Iron Core of Koa'ki Meiru, a level-4-or-lower Koa'ki Meiru monster is summoned from the player's deck. I summon another Koa'ki Meiru Boulder in DEF position," another boulder appeared (DEF: 1000), "I end my turn. And during the end-phase of the player's turn, Koa'ki Meiru Urnight's effect activates. The player must discard one Iron Core of Koa'ki Meiru, reveal a beast-warrior-type monster in your hand, or destroy the monster itself. I discard one Iron Core of Koa'ki Meiru." the duelist took the spell card from his hand and sent it to the graveyard.
"Then it's my turn!" Jason drew his next card, "First I switch Command Knight to ATK mode (ATK: 1600). Then I'll summon Rose, the Warrior of Revenge!" the red-haired ninja appeared (ATK: 1600-2000).
"Activate trap card: Automatic Laser," the duelist's first reverse-card opened and a large laser-holding pedestal holding the same emblem appeared, "When a monster with 1000 or more ATK points is summoned, the player of this card reveals one Iron Core of Koa'ki Meiru card in their hand to destroy the summoned monster." after the duelist revealed the spell in his hand, the laser fired and destroyed the ninja.
"Then I'll have Scarred Warrior attack Urknight!" Scarred Knight ripped his blade through the centaur, "Then Command Knight, destroy his boulder!" the knight smashed through the boulder with her shield.
"Since Koa'ki Meiru is destroyed in battle, I choose to add another Iron Core of Koa'ki Meiru from my deck to my hand," the duelist revealed the spell card.
"I place one card face-down," Jason concluded with a reverse-card, "Your move!"
"It is my turn," the duelist drew his next card, "I activate the spell card Urgent Synthesis. The player returns one Iron Core of Koa'ki Meiru from their graveyard to the deck," the spell card was then shuffled into his deck, "Then the player can special-summon one Koa'ki Meiru monster from their graveyard. I choose to summon Koa'ki Meiru Urnight," the centaur returned to the field (DEF: 1500), "Next I activate Urknight's effect and reveal Iron Core of Koa'ki Meiru in my hand. Then I will special-summon (7) Koa'ki Meiru Prototype(4/ATK: 1800/DEF: 1800) from my deck in DEF position," a blue portal opened and a small, four-legged machine with the same symbol glowing in its chest appeared (DEF: 1800), "Next, I activate the spell card Iron Core Immediate Disposal. It allows the player to send one Iron Core of Koa'ki Meiru from their deck to the graveyard," the card was pulled from the deck before it was discarded, "I tribute Koa'ki Meiru Boulder to tribute-summon (8) Koa'ki Meiru Rooklord(7/ATK: 2800/DEF: 2200)," the boulder was the replaced by large blue-and-silver robot. Etched at the end of each piston-like hand on each large blue arm is the glowing insignia (ATK: 2800), "This monster may be tribute-summoned by tributing one Koa'ki Meiru monster. When Koa'ki Meiru Rooklord is tribute-summoned, its player may remove one Iron Core of Koa'ki Meiru from their graveyard to destroy two cards on the field. The cards selected to be destroyed will be the opposing player's two set cards," Rooklord's hands began glowing with burning energy.
"I activate my trap card, Reinforced Truth! And with it I special-summon Vengeful Shinobi straight from my deck!" Jason's reverse-card summoned the black ninja to the field right before Rooklord unleashed a pair of sigil-shapped fireballs that destroyed it along with Defense Draw (ATK: 400-800).
"Koa'ki Meiru Rooklord attacks Vengeful Shinobi," the Rooklord smashed one of its pistons against Vengeful Shinobi and destroyed the ninja.
Jason: 2000
Armored Duelist: 4000
"Since Vengeful Shinobi was targeted for an attack, I got to draw one card from my deck!" Jason said.
"During the end-phase of the player's turn, Koa'ki Meiru Rooklord's effect activates. The player must discard one Iron Core of Koa'ki Meiru, reveal a machine-type monster in your hand, or destroy the monster itself. I choose to destroy Koa'ki Meiru Rooklord," the machine self-destruct.
"Then it's my turn," Jason drew his next card, "I summon Comrade Swordsman of Landstar in DEF mode!" the landstar tuner appeared (DEF: 1200), "And just like Command Knight, he gives warriors on my field a 400-point boost!"
Scarred Warrior: (ATK: 2500-2900)
Command Knight: (ATK: 1600-2000)
Comrade Swordsman of Landstar: (ATK: 500-900-1300)
"Sacred Warrior, move in and attack his Prototype!" Scarred Warrior cut down the small machine, "Command Knight, it's your turn! Attack him directly!" Command Knight readied her sword and charged.
"During your end-phase I activate the trap card Core Compression," the duelist opened one of his two reverse-cards, which was a continuous-trap card, "It allows the player to special-summon one Koa'ki Meiru monster from their graveyard. The monster selected will be Koa'ki Meiru Rooklord," Rooklord returned to the field from a blue portal (ATK: 2800).
"Fall back!" Jason commanded and the knight retreated, "I guess I'll hold back for now. I end my turn."
"It is my turn," the duelist drew his next card, "And right before the the draw-phase ends, I activate a face-down card: the Core Blast continuous-trap card," after the second reverse-card opened, a large, hexagonal chariot appeared, with several tendrils coiling from it; and in the front was a glowing symbol similar to the monsters "And during the standby-phase, the effect of Core Blast activates," Koa'ki Meiru Rooklord moved over to the chariot and landed behind it, looking over its enemy monsters.
"Here it comes..." Jason muttered.
"While there is a Koa'ki Meiru monster on the player's field, and the opponent controls more cards than the player, that said player may destroy cards on the opponent's field until they no longer hold more cards than the player controls monsters," two of the coils ignited on opened fired on Jason's field, destroying Scarred Warrior Command Knight.
Comrade Swordsman of Lasndstar: (ATK: 1300-500)
"Next I activate the spell Pot of Greed, which allows the player to draw two cards," the player drew two more cards, "Then, I will tribute Koa'ki Meiru Rooklord to tribute-summon (9) Koa'ki Meiru Valefar(8/ATK: 3000/DEF: 2100)," the robot left the field and was replaced by a colossal, fiery-winged red titan, its body glowing with cracks of magma over it. On its forearms, knees and chest carried the same three-pronged sigil as the others (ATK: 3000), "And when Koa'ki Meiru Valefar attacks a monster in DEF position, if the ATK is higher than the attacked monster's DEF, the oppoenent take the difference as battle-damage," Valifar's claw lit ablaze and incinerated the landstar monster with one swipe. The flames burst past and washed over Jason.
Jason: 200
Armored Duelist: 4000
"During the the player's end-plase, they must discard one Iron Core of Koa'ki Meiru from their hand in order for Valifar to star on the field," the duelist discarded the spell.
'If I had to guess, then this is the best this guy has to offer,' Jason thought, breaking a small bead of sweat as he looked down at his hand, 'I just hope I can bring out mine before it's too late...'
"Now's my move!" Magic drew her next card, "And I activate Crusader's special-ability: as a gemini-monster, I can summon him while he's on the field! And that adds another 600 ATK points for him until the end of the turn (ATK: 1900-2500), plus another spell-counter that I'll place on my Tower of Babel (CTR: 2)! Crusader of Endymion, attack Centaurmina!" Crusader charged towards Centaurmina. But instead of the centaur, the small knight moved into the way and took the full brunt of the attack, destroying it instead of Centaurmina. "Wait! I told you to attack Centaurmina, not that!"
"Card Blocker special-ability activates whenever an opposing monster declares an attack," the second mystery duelist said, "So I used its effect to take Centaurmina's place in the battle."
Magic huffed. "Fine. I'll just place a card face-down and end my turn."
"Then it's my turn," the second mystery duelist drew his next card, "I place this one card-face down for now." A reverse-card appeared.
"It's my turn!" Yusei drew his next card, "I summon Junk Synchron in ATK mode!" the rust-colored tuner appeared (ATK: 1300), "And that's not all I'm bustin' out! 'Cause when Junk Synchron is summoned, I can summon one level-2-or-below monster from my graveyard to join it on the field. I summon Speed Warrior!" the skating soldier returned to the field (DEF: 400), "And now I tune my Junk Synchron with my Speed Warrior, in order to synchro-summon, Junk Warrior!" the two monsters merged into the strong-armed, blue-armored arrived with a mighty punch (ATK: 2300), "And now Junk Warrior, take out Centaurmina! Go, Scrap Fist!"
"Not so fast! I reveal my trap, Fleur Guard!" the first mystery duelist opened his reverse-card, "Zis prevents you from destroying my monster in battle!" Centaurmina turned and caught Junk Warrior's Scrap Fist on her shield.
"You may've saved her, but you're still takin' damage!"
Yusei: 2700 (9)
Magic: 4000 (9)
Mystery Duelist 1: 3900 (9)
Mystery Duelist 2: 4000 (9)
"I end my turn by placing one card face-down!" Yusei concluded. "Something's not right. These guys can't be with the goons who kidnapped me."
"Wait, back up a few!" Magic said, aparrently hearing Yusei's train of thought, "I could've sworn I heard you writing these jerks off from those thugs!"
"I know its crazy, but their whole vibe is different," Yusei kept his eyes trained on the duelist on horseback, "In fact, I think their working all on their own."
"It is my turn!" the mystery duelist drew his next card, "I summon ze Fleur Synchron tuner monster!"
"I know what this means!" Yusei muttered.
"What is it, Yusei, something bad?" Akiza asked.
"Look, whatever happens, just hang on tight!"
"Now, it's my turn for a synchro-summon! I tune Fleur Synchron with Centaurmina, in order to bring out my most trusted monster!" Centaurmina leap triumphantly through Fluer Synchron's two gates, and hovers, suspended before bursting into a column of light.
"My body that's faster than the speed of light, the time for Revolution has come! Bring victory into my hands! Synchro Summon! Shine, (4) Chevalier de Fleur(8/ATK: 2700/DEF: 2300)!"
The mystery duelist's new monster is a knight in full plate armor, with a sweeping red cape and a headdress that looks like a blooming flower. It carried a long, graceful sword and a shield with a long pole at the bottom that makes it a standard as well (ATK: 2700), "And now, since Fleur Synchron was used to perform a synchro-summon, I can summon an additional monster from my 'and! Say 'allo to, Apprentice Knight(2/ATK: 1000/DEF: 1000)!" a young man appeared, thin, wiry and tough under his partial plate armor and swinging a large sword.
"My Scrap-Iron Scarecrow is still face-down on my field," Yusei reviewed, "This guy's well aware of that, so, I don't think he'll try an outright attack with that Knight, but..." he then chuckled a bit, "I can't wait to see what he does next."
"I don't like that chuckle," Magic grimaced, "Either he's starting to lose it or..."
'Is... is Yusei having fun?' Akiza wondered.
"Fleur de Chevalier, attack Junk Warrior!" the knight charged towards Junk Warrior.
"Go, Scrap-Iron Scarecrow!" Yusei reopened his reverse-card, "This trap deflects your monster's attack!"
"I was hoping you would try zat again! For not only can Chevalier negate your little Scarecrow's effect; it can send it to the great corn field in ze sky!" the monster cut down the scarecrow, "Now with your little Scarecrow out of ze picture, Chevalier can vanquish Junk Warrior!" with the obstacle out of the way, nothing else prevented the warrior from attacking Yusei with a swipe of her sword. "En garde, Yusei Fudo!"
Yusei: 2300 (10)
Magic: 4000 (10)
Mystery Duelist 1: 3900 (10)
Mystery Duelist 2: 4000 (10)
"Nicely played," Yusei groaned, "But now I know what surprises your Chevalier has in store."
"Pardonnez-moi?"
"I activate my trap card, Miracle's Wake!" Yusei opened another one of his reverse-cards, "With this card, I can resurrect a monster that was destroyed this turn! So I'm bringing back, Junk Warrior!"
"I place two cards face-down and end my turn," The mystery duelist concluded with two reverse-cards. "It appears you were simply baiting me so zat you could learn my strategies! Tres bon, Monsieur Fudo." he looked over his shoulder just a moment longer as if he, too, seemed to be enjoying the duel.
Up ahead, the other rider slowed down and stoped, clearly inviting Yusei to do the same.
"I hope this doesn't hurt." Yusei smiled, intrigued, and started braking with his foot.
"What do you think you're doing?!" Magic gasped.
"If we stop the engine will blow!" Akiza warned.
Yusei glided to a stop short of the opponents while Magic screeched to a halt a distance away. A moment passed before they realized that nothing happened.
"When do we blow up?" Akiza wondered.
"We don't," Yusei smirked, then called out to the other duelist. "So what's with the bluff? Who are you?"
The duelist reached up and pulled his helmet off, long, blonde hair bursting from under it. The horseback duelist was a woman with daring green eyes, "My name is Sherry LeBlanc," she introduced with her voice unfiltered, "and I wanted to test your courage under fire.
"You're a...'woman' turbo-duelist?" Akiza stammered.
"You have passed ze test. I shall dispense with ze games and tell you ze true nature of my intentions," Sherry explained, "I 'ave sought you out so zat I might steal you for my own!"
