Recap
I sigh and lean back to a tree in aggravation. We taking another break the kids are out of breath. "Hey mumma
Look at me
I'm on the way to the promised land
I'm on the highway to hell " I heard it and I lean forward and look down to my radio.
"Miss Bandit, looking for Rattler." I said softly in to it.
"Rattler here heading Northeast to the promised land." He said and I can hear his smile. "Lil mumma, where are ya? I'll pick ya up where ever ya may be." His thick country accept slip through his force city one.
"We looked down the river and we see'd the British come.
And there must have been a hundred of'em beatin' on the drum.
They stepped so high and they made the bugles ring.
We stood by our cotton bales and didn't say a thing." I said and smile. He knows that we are just down the highway now and putting the kid down I ran out when I heard the trucking rolling in. It's a huge peterbilt 330 with gray paint job. It was custom made with instead of the back window it has a door in the back going to the cargo area. I smile as it slowed down to a stop and passenger door open.
"I 'eard from a lil raven with fire tat a lil mumma was looking for a ride?" He asked with his thick country drawl. The kids all gasp when they saw his black hair and bright blue eyes that twinkle with mischief.
"Yep we are." I said and motion the kids for ride. "School was attacked by outsiders. We need a way back. Have you got in touch with the others yet?" I asked and he shook his head.
"'Eard kid askin' for Rodeo bu' it was statics." he said and I nod my head. I help the kids in slowly and carefully till they were all in the back safe. I climb in but then notice Victor still in the road. "Wha' 'bout hi'?" Sean asked me.
"Get your ass in here." I growl at the man standing there like an idiot. He smiled and climb in to the back door and sat down behind my chair. I smile back to him. "I'm telling you this. Our rules, Rule Four, Never look back."
Road and Codes
I lean back and start to seat and then I heard something on the radio but it had a lot of static with it. "What did that say?" I ask leaning forward and touching the CB radio turning it up carefully.
:Little Miss Smokey looking for her bandits. Gotta catch that little red rodeo.: I heard over the radio.
"Sounds like kiddo needs help." I look to the man sitting in the driver's seat as he glance to me.
"Yeah." I sigh. "She won't hear me if I talk now will she?" I ask and he shook his head.
"She shouldn't by her crappy walkie talkie." He said with a sigh. I softly grip the hand held part and look to it.
:Miss Bandit here to Little Miss Smokey.: I said and it came back static. Should have known he's right, he's always right. I sigh and lean back for a few minutes. He shook his head but didn't say anything as we kept driving.
After about a hour we heard it again but this time with out the code for Fox. :Little Miss Smokey looking for her Miss Bandit.: Her voice came over the radio but this time stronger.
Sean took the hand held holding it up to his mouth as head straight forward. :This is the Rattler with Miss Bandit. Country Roads take me home to the place I belong.: He said and I smiled. They are taking us back to the mansion if it's safe.
I lean back on the seat and glance in to the mirror to see brown eyes looking at me. I smile as I reach back and felt his hand touch mine. "I saw dat." Sean said making me jump.
"You saw nothing." I growl at him. He just laugh.
"I thought I convince ya already I see everythin'!" He scream out with his hands off the wheel making me freak out for a minute before he start to laugh fixing the car right.
"Seriously! We got kids in the cargo!" I screamed at him.
He laugh more as we pulled up in to a gas station and jump out. "Better let 'em out to restrooms while can. I'll see 'bout food wise if ya want." I nod my head and got out. I lead the few back there out and pointed them to the area of the restroom. Victor walked make sure they weren't messed with. I went with the girls. Leaning against the wall as they came out and wash their hands. I smile and watch them leave one by one till they were all outside again with the others.
I went back out and saw a few trucks, not like ours regular trucks, come pulling around. I took a gulp and motion the kids back to our truck. "Come on, I got a bad feeling about these guys." I told them ushering them to the truck. They went willingly. Sean came out and I heard one of the guys that came out of the regular trucks talking to Sean.
"Who are ya?" He asked pushing Sean with his huge back of goodies. Sean isn't a little guy, he's about six feet tall and build like a boxer, hell he boxes when he is visiting Sir!
"I'm just a passerby. Ain't nobody important." He growl walking around the guys.
"Who are ya!?" the guy scream. He had to stand nearly on his tipsy toes to get in to Sean's face. I grip the arm piece of the door and felt a warm hand on my shoulder. Victor got out of the cab of the truck and got over to them.
"What is the problem here?" I saw another man come out. Store owner maybe? It's a small business type of gas station nothing big.
"Dis man right here!" The guy from the truck screamed.
Victor walks over and puts his hand on Sean's shoulder and glares at the men. They all retreated after they see two huge guys that can kick their asses. One they weren't worried but two they can't take with them that big. I smiled, smart move on Victor's half.
They got in to the cab and start the car after handing me the bag of goodies. I notice most of which is chocolate. I was going to argue with him but then decided, what the hell why not give it to them. It'll make this easier if they feel more safe and chocolate is a fix it all.
I climb in to the back with Victor who carefully put his hand on my waist to make sure I didn't fall. I smile to him and open the back door climbing out then in to the cargo part. Once there I got to the kids and hand them the bag. Giving the kids all something to munch on then went in to the front with the last of it. We all ate some chocolate as Sean went back to driving. He sip on his ever present coffee, maybe that's where Amber gets it from? She use to love traveling with Sean and Lew.
I lean back till I heard the radio speak again and smiled to it. :Open your back door here comes the Fox and Little Miss Smokey. No stop signs, speed limits nobody going to slow me down.:
They found us! I smiled and glance to Sean who pick up the handheld and toss it to me. :Miss Bandit here, saying once you get in close the door we don't want flies or bears on our derrières!: I told them with a smirk that earn me a playful slap on the shoulder. I tried not to laugh as he drove onward.
I got up and went to the back leaning against Victor's shoulder. I'm getting sleepy and yet no matter how much I fight it I can't keep fighting it off. He moved slightly and I then felt something rumbling. Was he purring? I glance up to him and notice how he somehow got his face in to my hair without me noticing it and was in fact purring. It calm me down a lot and I slowly close my eyes for a bit.
When I woke up I look around and notice it was the CB radio that woke me up. I heard Victor growl and I smiled up to him kissing his cheek. "You are a very comfortable pillow but my sister is calling." I said climbing back in the front. :Miss Bandit here.: I said into the hand held that was pass to me once I got in to the passenger seat.
:Hey Miss Bandit, strangers waiting up and down the boulevard, their shadows searching in the night.: She said and I frown. She's losing hope that things will be fine. I shook my head roughly and glance around till I saw a huge red truck and smile. The truck is a Peterbilt 281. They normally driving things like gasoline or liquid bombs and stuff but this one is hook up to a silver box that seems very comfortable. How does Lew get the good jobs that has good cushion? Probably because he's a flirt.
I saw Amber sitting shot-gun to Lew who looks a lot like Sean just his eyes are darker, green not blue. Twins with different eyes, ironic. :To you Little Miss Smokey, Oh you feel so trapped and confused start with nothing and you've got nothing to lose.: I sang in to the hand held and saw Amber look to me and smiled.
We lean back and waited as we kept driving. Where to? I have no idea. We need time for the others to get out to us and also so the X-Men clean out the mansion. Once back we can rebuild or whatever. Hopefully it won't be TO bad. I then felt someone touch me and saw it was a hand that looks like a claw. I look up the well built arm to the blond hair with dark roots man sitting beside me now. "I stink of worry huh?" I asked and he nod his head. I frown slightly. "Sorry." I whisper and he shook his head. He sat back and listen to the old country music that was playing in back ground. It's not by the CB radio, more of the other one that's on the dashboard.
I lean back and sigh. I really need stress free environment after this. We stop at another gas station and I got out first with Victor and I saw Amber get out with Beast behind her. I helped Victor to get the kids out and Beast and Lew got the ones out of their truck out. I then felt someone tackle me. I hit the ground hard and yelp. I look to Amber and smiled hugging her tightly. She laugh as we got up with help from Beast who already had two injure kids waiting on him.
"Amber, you need to be more careful." He scold her and I smirk. She didn't feel ashamed but more proud. I then saw her knuckles.
"Hey, Smoke, what happen your hands?" I ask her and she blush deeply NOW feeling ashamed.
"I kinda punch Lewie." She answered twiddling her thumbs.
"Why?" I asked holding my hand to my face to hide the smirk. I want to laugh so hard. It's about time someone other than the Gray Hound punches the Fox.
"He kept making animal comments about Henry." She pouts at me.
"Hank?" I asked turning to him. He smirk slightly and then hid it just as fast as it came. "Well good going, Amber." I said tapping her head walking away to find my own fetal. He's watching over the kids as is the two truckers who somehow end up in ANOTHER fist fight. "What happen this time?" I asked looking to Victor. He shrugged and I can tell by his feelings that he's just as confuse as I am.
"I ain't no not gonna be a goober ya good for nothin' dork fish!" The blue eyed twin yelled punching the green eye one hard.
"Ya are da good for nothin' dork fish, I ain't one ya cow hide for brain!" The green eyed one said kneeing the blue eyed one in the gut then flipping him. I then palm-face at it all. They are fighting over calling each other stupid names. Some things will just never change will it?
"Guys!" I screamed at them. They by now are holding each other by the throats about to punch each other again. "Coffee?" I ask and they drop their hands and grumble under their breaths walking off to the gas station to get their coffee. "They will calm down after they get black goodness in to them." I said as I start to follow them and the kids ran after us in to the station. Some went to the restrooms and others went to pick out drinks or food for the rest of the ride. The older ones helped Hank and Amber clean out the trucks cargo holders. After all that was done we went back to the road. More snacks and goodies for the kids, this time Hank paid for most of it though the twins volunteer to pay.
"We always had dem two with us." Sean said motioning to Amber and I.
"Yah, dey always got da most of everythin'." Lewis vouch for his twin. They only get along AFTER coffee, every time.
We all got back to the road and I smirk to the CB as it went off again. :Miss Smokey here to Rattler, Neath that old Georgia pine, we'd gain a lot of ground, Cause we'd both give a little. Ain't no road to long.: Amber's voice echo through out the cab. I tried not to laugh as I heard that. They are meeting us halfway. That means that they got message from Gray Hound halfway there.
After a while I got bored and the sun was already getting higher in the sky. We are mostly just driving around trying to kill time for the X-Men to clean house. :Hey Little Miss Smokey!:
:What is it, Miss Bandit?: Amber asked confuse like.
:You remind me of the Babe.: I said with a smile looking out of our cab in to the one that's driving behind us by the review mirror.
I could hear her laugh as she answer me. :What babe?: her black hair with red streaks went in to her face as she replied.
I smile more trying to hold back the laugh. :The babe with the power.:
:What power?:
:Power of VooDoo.:
:Who do?:
:You do.:
:Do what?:
:You remind me of the babe.: I laugh out as I couldn't breathe.
A few minutes later I heard the CB radio speak up again. It's Amber. :Why does the duck look so pissed?: Amber asked and I smirk at the radio.
:Well if you tell me the precise measurements of yonder I'll tell you why the duck looks so damn pissed.: I answer her. I saw on corner of my eye that Sean's shoulders were shaking in a silent laugh.
