The Gardner Family
It has been nearly three weeks and finally I have enough energy back to teach my class. I did how ever have a very awkward conversation with my future brother-in-law about me being in heat. He explain very embarrassing that once a shadow or feral hits a certain age they must mate if they are females.
Ferals female dies if not mated with but shadows have a certain amount of time before their life energy is sucked out of them. So the biological side of my heat was what was wrong with me after Victor left. When he came back Victor and Sabertooth must have been fighting to mate with me till it became a must.
He did and because of him being gone during the actual heat cycle it last longer than should. We are right now getting ready for Christmas and New Year. In stead of us going to Arkansas Lady and Sir had the idea to bring the family to us. They got more mutants in somehow. Instead of the five they now about eight.
Only one is feral and it's an infant. The others have unique powers. One of them from what I understand can turn in to pure fire. They will come in a few days before Christmas during winter break.
The kids are buzzing with joy and Victor refuse to let me see the mall Santa. He knew the mall Santa last year was turn on by me but didn't know he was actually harassing me to a point till Ray told him. Part of my fun is ruin now.
I walk down the hallways during lunch time and stop long enough to feel lust and powerful urges. It reeks the air and makes me want to punch someone. I turn looking in to a room seeing Bobby and Kitty in a heated make out session. "You know normally I would say get a room but I am not going to suggest something that will utterly destroy a good friend. Bobby, you prick. Keep your god-awful hands to yourself. Cheating on Rogue AGAIN with Kitty?" I went mama bear and know it but Rogue is my friend.
I walk out of the room with Bobby chasing after me. "You won't tell her." He sneer at me like he knows what I'm thinking.
I turn around and got eye to eye with him and growl, a growl that would make my mate proud of me. "Try me." I growl out and turn around again starting to walk away.
"You can't hurt her." He said with a smug look though he looks slightly paler than normal. I concentrate on him and he grip his head. "You," he start to groan in pain, "won't," he by now on his knees, "hurt her." He gasp out I then glance away when I heard someone said something. I turn around and saw it was the professor and Storm. She sent me a glare as she rush over to Bobby. "Professor?" He asked as he got up.
I huff out and walk pass Xavier in a fowl mood then I normally in. "Harper, your powers are growing." He called after me.
I turn around with my hands in the air. "I know." I said with an even voice and as monotone as I can make it.
I could hear him sigh and I just kept going the way I was originally was going. I was on a new destination this time though. I need to find Rogue.
"Harper?" I heard someone call after me but I didn't turn around to the blond with brown mixed in to her hair. Ray caught up with me and put her hand on my shoulder to stop me.
I sent her a side glance and she let go of my shoulder but stayed beside me as I walked. "What is it, Ray?" I asked trying to play poker-face on the coppery smell that has slight salty smell added to it.
She gave me a worried glance and the smell got more so. "What happen with Bobby and do I need to call a family meeting?" She's really worried if she's willing to do that.
I sigh and shook my head. "He was cheating on Rogue again and I lost my cool. The scum shouldn't be in a relationship if he can't stay faithful!" I snap and growl out. This made Ray sigh knowing my heat cycle is almost over. Protective nature is part of heat cycle.
FLASHBACK
I end up deciding to go to Hank because he knows more information about this stuff and he would be able to answer me. Plus he knows more about my type of mutants than Jean too. I got to his door and softly knock. He was already in the room hanging upside down. Without looking from his book he spoke directly to me. "You should be in your room with Sabertooth. He'll be worried about you." He told me still reading but he did sound like he had venom on his tongue when he said 'Sabertooth'.
"Professor sent me here for answers." I told him which he got interested in from that. He jump off the rafter and land on the ground easily going to his desk. Placing his book down he turn to me with a look of slight aggravation. I can smell his anger and aggravation then. It's sicking and gross.
"What all would you like to know?" He ask as he fix his lab coat and walk over to his desk motioning me to sit down in a chair beside it.
"Well first off I want to know why you so aggravated and pissed off." I stated with a glare directed at him.
"Not at you, I assure you." He said with a slight sigh. "The Beast is acting up." He inform me and I nod my head.
"Because of my heat?" I ask and he nod his head. "So my heat affects all ferals around me?" I ask slightly shock.
"In different ways I assure you. You are mated to someone so Beast isn't interested in you for that." He inform me and I decide to drop it and then got a twisted idea.
"Does ferals have knocts?" Still talking about knocts. "How long will they last if they do?" and then he looks like he's wants to palm-face now. "How big do they normally get?" I asked him question after question about knocts.
"It depends on the feral. All of it depends on the male feral." he told me and I pout slightly.
He's being professional about this so I can't mess with him much. "How long does the heat last?" I am being serious now.
"Normally only a couple of weeks but from what I can tell that Shadow Mutants last longer till their mated. Shadow Mutants do not have to mate with their actual mate." He inform me and I raise my eyebrow.
"Wait is that why I am still attracted to other men sexually but I don't really want them though?" I ask trying to rephrase my train of thought. He looks confuse so I tried to rephrase it for him. "Is that why I'm still attracted to other men sexually, not that I want to mate with them or want them though?"
He shook his head slightly and I felt a wave of aggravation and then hatred like but it was push down. I know that was Beast and Hank fighting inside himself now. "Correct. Now he's mated he can't feel interest in other females now though." He inform me.
This actually shock me. "How come?" I wonder out loud.
He look to me curiously and then notice that I was actually wondering and feeling slightly bad. "His body was made for you, or more correctly, you were made for him biologically. You two are meant for each other and Ferals once find their mates can't feel anything for other females, only their mate. It's a biological thing that I am sure you would find most boring." I nod my head agreeing. "Anything more?" he tried to rush me out but I just grin.
I know he had to have groan inside his head at the fact of the grin I made. "Is it normal that Victor refuse let me out of the room or try to keep me in the room away from everyone?" I ask curiously though I'm being serious I know he's only taking me partly so.
"He's your mate and his animal side of him knows that being mated to him that other ferals can smell his scent on you and kill you to kill him. Once mated ferals are mated for life." He explain to me. "If something happens to you his animal side will lose control and he will eventually kill himself." I nod my head and then note to self never do anything that can risk my life.
A thought that hit right then too. "Would my normal birth control works during the heat or do I need something stronger?" I ask curiously.
"Normal birth control should work, if you do not want to risk it try condoms." He told me with out hesitation. I can tell he feels uncomfortable by this but still being professional about it all.
"Is it normal for Shadow mutants not be interested I mean sexually attracted yes but not really interested in anyone up till they find their mate?" I tried another question though he already partly answer it.
He sigh and gave me an aggravated look. "It is normal as far as I know. Shadow Mutant is one of few that has mates but don't have to mate with their mate to survive." He answer me, again.
I smirk and then lean forward slightly. "You know you will have to explain this all to my sister soon too right?" I pointed out and I think I saw a tent of purple under his fur.
"I know that and am prepared for it." he told me in a matter-of-fact voice.
"Okay." I smirk and he cringe slightly knowing I'm moving from the subject of my mate to his. "What all have you two done so far?" I ask with an evil smile. He felt slight panic and the smell of it made me sneeze, ugh. "Do I even want to know?" I half tease him and the panic made my nose itch till I start to sneeze again. "Okay, okay, I'll stop pressing in to your sex life. For now." I grin and he gave me a dirty look.
END FLASHBACK
I kept walking till I saw blue coming my way from another hall. I stop and smirk to Doctor McCoy. He stop and he start to panic knowing I told him 'For now.' Knowing me I would start asking questions like that at random times to embarrass him. I start to smirk and try not to bust out laughing when his panic turn to embarrassment and then I was hit upside the head. I rub the back of my head and look up to Amber who when hit me knocked me over. She sent me an accusing look and I held up my hands. "In my defense I didn't do anything. He's feeling it, I'm enjoying it." I told her trying to hold back the laughter.
"Only you can make embarrassment over DOCTOR questions sound so dirty." She shook her head walking to her boyfriend. Once there she start to talk to him softly. I couldn't hear them and shrug my shoulder.
"Do you two know where Rogue is?" I ask and they both shook their heads, no. "Okay." I said and went down the opposite hall heading to where I know Logan would be. He would know where she is, I hope. She wasn't there and Logan hasn't seen her lately. I groan and walked off. I can't find her anywhere.
I got to where I saw Seira and a few of the kids playing and then I notice that Rogue is sitting on a bench talking to someone. I walk closer to notice who it was and then I stop in my tracks. Sitting beside her is no other than the Lady of the Orphanage I grew up in. Lady Rhaelin DeBlaca, the only person I can accidentally refer to my mother but not being her, I don't but can. "Lady?" I walked over to her.
"Oh my, look at you Harp." She said in a surprise way. She isn't surprise though. She can tell my confusion and surprise by my face I guess and she sigh in defeat, though it wasn't much of one. Hugging me tightly she explain. "We wanted to surprise you so we came up early. The Professor had Miss Marie showing me around." She explain.
"Marie?" I ask raising an eyebrow to Rogue who just shrugged her shoulders. "What about the kids and school?" I ask slightly panicking over my family there.
"Arper!" I heard an unmistakeable squeal and span around just in time to catch the eight year old. She hug me tightly. "Sissy, me come see you!" She squeal again and made me laugh out.
I snuggled her in my arms and kiss her forehead. "I can see that, kiddo." I told her putting her down. Seira looking at us and is slightly nervous. "Come here, Seira." I called her over. She came over and I place a hand on her head then look to Lady Rhaelin and Lena. "This is my little sister Seira. Seira, this is our sister Lena and Lady Rhaelin." I told my blood sister.
"Hello." She said properly and her Cajun accent slip slightly.
"Oh, Darlin' ya are just the cutest." Lady Rha gush over her and I smile when I felt her cherp up slightly. "You know you look just like Harper did when she was your age? Your hair is lighter than her's though." She comment and lead Seira to the bench. I went over to Rogue and tap her shoulder.
"You seen Bobby yet?" I ask her as I lean to her so the others can't hear us. She shook her head and I frown. "You already know don't you?" I ask because I can feel the hurt and the jealousy. She nod her head and I wrap my arms around her carefully. "You deserve better." I told her softly in to her ear.
"No I don't. Ain't possible. No one deserves a freak li'e me." she said her own accent slipping.
"Not true, Darlin'." I heard a voice that made me smile turning to face my two big brothers as they walk over to us. "Dar someone for everyone. Look at our Miss Know-it-all she got cat boy." Lew said and I wanted to punch him then laugh and punch him again. Instead I look to his twin who shrug his shoulders pulling me in to a bear hug.
"Air." I gasp out and he put me down with a rowdy laugh.
He place me down and Lew brought me in to a hug letting me breathe though. Once I was place back down on the ground I laugh as I felt two people tackle me and snow fly everywhere. I gasp out and look at the two that tackle me. One I learn last year is Elizabeth, also called by the twins Hadyn, and the other is a girl that hangs out with her a lot. She's younger and more mischievous but also more subtle, no one really can figure out it's her normally. Liz stood up and help me up. Her sandy brown hair move like smoke slightly and her orange eyes sparkle with mischief like her little friend. She's beautiful in her own way, for a teenager, about fifteen I believe. Her friend, Charlotte, is about eleven with blond hair that curls up below her ears and black eyes. They are both mutants that were chase out of their homes but Friends of Humanity. Apparently when they were found by the truckers they only knew of two places that would take mutant kids, The Orphanage and Xavier's school. Orphanage was closer.
I smile to the two and played with their hairs messing them up. Elizabeth took a deep breath and blew smoke at me making me laugh. "Second hand smoke will kill." I tease her pushing her softly. She laugh too.
"We missed you, Harp." Charley told me hugging me again.
I smile down to them and hugged them back. "I've missed you too." I told them really meaning it. A few more kids came over and then I saw Rany-Pa walk over to us with a bundle in his arms. He rock it softly as he motion us all to go inside. I nod my head and spoke to everyone, even the kids still playing. "Time to go inside and warm up!" I yell out and all the kids start to head that way.
Once there I took the bundle of crying and claws away from Rany-Pa who is having some difficulties. "Hush, little cub." I told it softly and it purred like a kitten making me awe at it. Rany-Pa, Lady Rha, and Liz all look to me shock. "What?" I ask softly to keep the cub happy.
"How did you do that?" Lady Rha ask me softly walking over to me. She place a hand on each of my shoulders as I softly rock the cub in my arms. "He never likes anyone." she softly coo at the baby who growl at her and made her frown slightly.
"My mate is a feline feral, he is a feline feral." I pointed out as I start to rock again and the baby start to purr again. I heard growling and turn to Victor as he look at the little cub in my arms. "No." I growl at him protectively and he stop growling going over to it and sniff. The cub scratch his nose making him back up real fast and growl again.
I tried not to laugh as he glare at the baby in my arms. I softly start to sing a Lion King Song I know very well, Hakuna Matata. I heard a few of the kids that know me very well giggle and some of them, both Orphanage and School start to sing along. I did the talking part with Ray who was laughing hard playing as Pumba and Amber doing the Simba part. I smile to my sisters who are having fun with this. The baby start to laugh and reach up for us again but his claws went in and this time I hand him Victor who held him at arms length till I showed him how to hold him. He did and the baby reach up to him and I smile as I saw him start to bond with the baby. I then heard slight purring from Victor and before I know it the baby is asleep.
"No one is able to do that." I heard Sir said walking in looking at the baby in Victor's arms asleep. "How?"
"Cat." The twins said at the same time pointing at Victor. He growl at them and strangely the baby didn't wake up.
The twins both moved behind me and the gross smell of fear is in the air, though not thick so I know it's not serious. I sigh and lead everyone in to another room. We went in to the Dinning room and sat down around the table. I got Liz to take the kids, all by the cub in Victor's arms and Seira, to the gaming room to play and warm up. I sat down beside Seira pulling her chair closer to me. "You want to know about Mama right?" She asked and I nod my head. "Mrs DeBla-"
"Rhaelin or Rha no Mrs DeBlaca me, young lady." Lady Rha said in a strict voice making me smile to her. Seira smelt of amusement, smells like popcorn if you ask me.
"Yes, Lady Rha." She said calling her what I call her. Lady Rha's shoulders slump and she gave a giving up sigh then motion for Seira to go on. "Mama told me of stories I know was real. She told me about me big sista and how she'll be this great mutant of the future. She would be eldest and wisest of her own clan, though not Alpha." She explain. "She told me that she had to leave her with the DeBlaca family because the future she saw with her was a terrible one that ended in tragically with the DeBlaca's she saw an easier and better life. She wanted what was best for Harper, for you." She said looking up to me with big eyes.
"So she saw something bad happening and that's why she left me on DeBlaca's doorsteps?" I ask and she nod her head. I pull her in to my arms tightly and kiss her forehead. I know about my mother now. "Will you talk about our parents?" I ask her softly wiping my eyes.
"Mama and Pa were the best. Pa was a wildlife rescuer person. He had wrestle Gators and saved big scary cats, no offense Frere." she look to Victor with a smile. He look to me confuse and I shrug. "It means brotha." She explain which made me nod. Makes since she calls him that because he is my mate. "Mama was a cook but she kept getting chased off and every time she did she just left and then Pa found her again. They found a small town that didn't mind she was a mutant as long as she didn't use her powers on them. They settle down but she missed you dearly. She always spoke about you and things she saw about you. Tell me stories that were amazing and yet I don't know what was truly what she saw and what she made up." She then smile slightly.
