Chapter Two:
Paige and Remus
Leo look down to me then to the tall man that now I am looking at him I notice scars on his face but he's still quite attractive, for an older man. "You two can go down to the basement to talk. I will be down to check on you later. Dence, anything you want to talk to me about just call I'll be only an orb away." he spoke so soft that not many could hear and only if they were either standing on us or super hearing.
I nod my head and he kiss my forehead. I turn to the man real fast. "The letter is upstairs let me get it real fast." I said and ran up stairs as fast as I could. Once I got there I saw Piper getting ready to summon a spirit. "Just here to get a letter." I said walking pass her as she set the candles down and ran downstairs again. I showed him I got it and start to walk to the kitchen. He follow and I went downstairs with him not far behind me. We got down and I motion to a desk and a few chairs that is in the corner and went sitting on the desk cross-legged. He sat in one of the chairs looking to me as I start to open the envelop.
Slowly and carefully I open it and took out the old looking papers. Running my fingers over it softly I read the letter as I slowly move my fingers between the pages. The paper feels like the older pages of the book.
HOGWARTS SCHOOL of WITCHCRAFT and WIZARDRY
Headmaster: Albus Dumbledore (Order of Merlin, First Class, Grand Sorc., Chf. Warlock, Supreme Mugwump, International Confed. of Wizards)

We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment.
Term begins on September 1. We await your owl by no ater than July 31.

I read over it again softly gasping confuse and I know the man who is sitting silently in front of me can tell. "There is a school for us?" I ask looking up to his eyes.
"For both wand magic and coven, yes. Wand magic is more hidden as a community coven broke off to by them self." He explain softly.
Something hit me and I pop myself in the head, much to his amusement, when it did. "You never told me your name. I feel like a moron for not asking." I frown slightly.
He stuck his hand out to me. I look at it carefully before taking it and shaking his hand. I was worried I was going to get a flash of permission or something. I am not as strong as Phoebe with them and don't get them near as often as her. His hands are scarred like his face making them rough.
I really take in his appearance. He is very handsome and roughly in his forties at oldest and mid thirties at youngest. His hair is messy though looks like he tried to tame it, the color stood out making him look older than he is, light brown with specks of gray. His height is a few inches taller than six feet and he holds himself proudly but something is also holding back being who he really is.
He seem like he knew I was trying to figure him out. He gave me a moment before speaking. "Remus Lupin." He finally introduce himself with mischief hidden behind his worn down beautiful green eyes.
"So are you a teacher or something?" I ask looking down at the papers.
I saw from over the papers his shoulders drop and a slight pain cross his face. "No, I am not." He answer me. I felt bad for asking but the smile he sent me made me smile back.
The paper I have on top while welcoming letter was on desk is list of things I will need. I really didn't look at it. Flipping to next page my eyebrows fur together in slight confusion. "Does the headmaster normally hand write to his future students?" I ask shock by the letter in general.
Glancing up Remus has a grin across his face. "Only to a select few." He answer with something hidden in his voice I can't place. Looking back to the letter I read it carefully.
Dear Miss Trudeau-Halliwell,
I hope you consider to come to Hogwarts. You have rare talent that can be clean to perfection. I am aware you are a coven witch that studies your magic at home. Here you will be able to unlock things about yourself even you didn't know.

I skim it after reading it then place it down with the list and other letter. The final letter out of them I softly gasp covering my mouth. I can feel hot tears form in my eyes but don't fall no matter how much they sting. The last letter is on notebook paper and handwriting I know so well.

Hogwarts will teach you how to control your powers better than learning by yourself. It will help you more then you know. I put the letter down and cover my face with my hands as I held back the sob as I felt warm arms around me. I turn around burying my face in to the warm chest as soft smaller hands took the letter from my hands. "Dence, you going to go?" Phoebe's voice echo in my ear.
The strong smell of sulfur, after shave, and something peppery invade my nose. "Dence?" Cole's voice was soft and she shook her head. His un-ask question now answer he held me tighter.
"We are about to leave. You sure?" Phoebe voice was soft and Cole let go of me as I wipe my eyes.
Looking to my youngest aunt I softly whimper wiping my eyes. "I am sure, go be the super force of love, and I am not positive about the school yet." I told them with a force smile. Even after four years it still get all of us that Grams is dead. She was the best even after she hid her powers.
She taught me so much till she died. She was teaching me potions and spells before my powers were activated. At the time I thought we were playing make believe while cooking and baking.
I look back to the man who is waiting for me to recover. "What all would you like to know?" And with that question in the air he was attacked with questions. He smile and was willing to answer any that I had.
Before long hours has past and it start to get dark. Piper sitting on the stairs with Leo listening in. "Wait so they have chocolate that is alive?" I ask in astonishment and laugh some when he nod his head. "What is that butterbeer and firewhisky?" I ask when he mention about the bar three brooms or something like that.
"Butterbeer is like rootbeer. Firewhisky is a form of magic alcohol." Leo answer for him. I look back to my uncle. He got up from where he was sitting and join us.
Piper is looking over the papers and frown as she did. "If she goes, that is a big if, where do we get these things?" She ask looking to Remus.
Leo sigh and look at his wife. "I will have to take her to Diagon Alley." He answer her.
She looking down to the papers aggravated and then ask what was bothering her. "How will her learning wand magic help her with her powers?"
"She will be training with select few that also has magic or blood with other species. She will begin training with Hagrid who is half Giant and also ground keeper of Hogwarts three times a week. Twice a week with me." He said then look to me. "If that is alright with you. We want you to be ready with not just some of your powers but all of them." He explain.
"You said before Professor Dumbledore couldn't come. How come he sent you instead of a teacher?" I wonder looking to him.
He smile to me warmly. "I think it is I can relate to you and I am also going to be one of the two training you. Hagrid was suppose to come too but he had something else to do." He answer me simply. I feel like there is more but he doesn't say it. He then look to Leo.
I glance to my uncle and put my hands on my hips. "You never told me about this." I said accusingly at him.
"I was not suppose to. It was against...-" he started Piper and I shared a look.
"Against rules." We said together in monotone voice.
Remus looks amuse by how we react to what he was saying. "He says that all of the time." I explain jumping off of the desk and stretching up with a yawn.
"I have to clean kitchen." Piper said getting up and hand the papers to Leo who place them back in to the envelop. She stops at the top of the stairs and turn in the doorway looking down at me. "Dence, do you want to go?" She ask as I follow her up.
I stop halfway on the stairway and look down to where the men are talking. "I think I do." I told her with a smile.
Her eyes got teary and she wrap her arms around me leading me back up where she start to clean with my help. I went running through the house and gather up the plates bowls and other stuff that needs to be washed for Piper. As I was walking through the Living room I saw Remus being walked out by Leo. "Bye." I call out to him.
He smile to me as I walk pass. "Will see you soon, Dence." He said with a bow of his head.
"Yeah, you will." I smile warmly before bringing the stuff back to the kitchen. Piper was frowning slightly as I put them in the sink. "You won't lose me that easy." I said without looking up to her worried face.
I left the room to make sure nothing else is still not put away or put in kitchen to clean. As I came back I heard Phoebe and Cole talking to Leo. "Are you sure she orbed?" Leo asked annoyed. "Are you sure that it wasn't something else?"
"Leo, she disappeared. Bright white, shiny thingies came, and then she reappeared. What else could it be?" Phoebe sounds confuse and slightly annoyed at Leo for not listening.
I stopped not far from the door listening. "It just doesn't make any sense."
Cole spoke up though it was simple. "Why not?"'
Leo starts to rise his voice with his reasoning. "Because why would Shax want to kill a whitelighter?"
Cole raise his voice slightly but not yelling and keeping it even. "Maybe he doesn't know she's a whitelighter." He answer simply.
Leo sounds doubtful. "Right. The Source sends out his personal assassin, but doesn't know who he's after?"
I then heard Piper drops the pots she is cleaning. Everyone even I who no one notice besides Cole is here. "Is it possible that she didn't know she was a whitelighter?" Phoebe asked. Cole gave me a look and I shrug my shoulders. I know Phoebe is trying to keep busy so her brain won't realize what everything else in her knows but don't want to believe, Mom, her sister, is gone.
He gave Phoebe a strange look before answering. "No. Why?" he answer calmer now.
Cole answer before motioning me in to the kitchen making Leo and Phoebe see me. I place the last of the things down on the counter. "Because she acted as if she didn't. She acted just as surprised as we were when she orbed out." I turn to face them thinking about what all they are saying.
Leo sounds aggravated again. "Well, that doesn't make any sense either."
Phoebe is trying to play peace keeper. "Okay, why don't you go up and ask the Elders what does make sense so we don't go risking our lives again?" I look to Piper as she looks like she's about to cry and break down again.
"I'll be right back." Leo said as he look to Piper too.
Cole step in front of Phoebe glancing to me and Piper and then back to Phoebe. "Maybe I should, uh, go to the other side and see what I can find out." He is trying to give us family time, how sweet.
"No." Phoebe is freaking out.
"I'll be careful. Nobody'll see me." he is trying to get out before someone snaps. "Besides, it could be good for me to go back down, confuse any bounty hunters that might be trying to track me." he is making good points. "Don't worry. I won't disappear on you." He said softer to her. He lean forward kissing her softly.
Phoebe turn around and walk over to Piper and I. "Hey, you okay?" She ask softly. I wanted to palm-face. OF COURSE SHE IS NOT OKAY!
I want to run for safety of my room when I saw Piper's face expression. "Yeah, sure, why not?" She ask with sarcasm dripping from her voice. "We could have another funeral tomorrow. I mean all of the dishes are out and we pretty much know who to invite."
"Piper." Phoebe tried to stop her.
I knew this is going to get bad fast so I took a few steps closer to the basement door ready to run down the second things start to explode or go flying. "Just tell me one thing." She turn around still pissed but not being sarcastic anymore, good sign I think. "Are you insane, or just plain stupid?" okay, bad sign. Very bad sign. "We bury Prue this morning, and you go off tonight and nearly join her. What the hell is the matter with you?"
"I was trying to save an innocent." Phoebe defend herself.
"No. You were trying to get yourself killed, which is what this family does best is get killed." Piper raise her voice and threw the hand towel she was holding. "Isn't it obvious by now that our only destiny is to die? And you are making it way too easy for them, Phoebe, you are just walking right into it! We have no idea what will happen to Dence once she leaves and now I have to worry about you who is the adult!" She was having a melt down and I can understand it.
Phoebe walk to her and pull her in to a tight hug. "I am so sorry." Phoebe said as she holds her tighter and motion me over to them. I let them pull me to them in their hug making it a group hug.
Piper sob softly as she spoke. "I can not handle anything right now, and I certainly cannot handle losing another sister. I don't think I can handle Dence going to that school." She cried out. I felt Phoebe start to squeeze us closer together. I hug tighter as tears start to form again but I refuse to let them fall.
Piper and I went back to cleaning and Phoebe went looking around for something her to do. I set up tea kettle and went back to cleaning as Piper made us all tea. I watch her drink two cups then made me a cup and then she drank another one. She made the last cup before walking to where Phoebe is. I follow with my cup sipping it slowly. "Here. This should help. It's chamomile. I had three cups." She said as she sat down on the floor. I went over to them and sat down too sipping mine looking at the fire Phoebe made.
Phoebe look at Piper worried before looking down to the cup and back up to Piper. "Thanks." she said softly taking a sip herself. She looks at her hands as she try to figure a way to say what is on all of our minds. "Doesn't seem real does it?" She finally asked.
"No." Piper and I both said at the same time.
"What are we gonna do with all of her stuff?" Piper asked with a groan. I want to run off because I don't want them to do anything with her stuff but I stayed where I am at. "And what are we gonna do with her car?" That I know I can't have. I am way to young to learn how to drive plus even if I could I wouldn't.
Phoebe look at the fire as she thought. "I don't know." She then glance to me before her hands again. She didn't want to say what we were all thinking again but had to. "Sell it, I guess."
"Unless you want it."
"No." she said softly with same thought I had. "We gonna get through this you know. We just have to stick together. All of us." they both grab one of my hands after I place my tea down and I smile to them weakly. Right then lights start to form and we all turn to the blue white light show of someone orbing in. "Well?" Phoebe ask once Leo became solid again.
Leo has his voice louder in aggravation again, but not yelling. "Well, they don't know anything about her," he lower his voice to normal level. "So she's definitely not a whitelighter." he answer.
Phoebe seems aggravated now. "Then why can she orb?" She ask out of aggravation.
I then spoke up though they both gave me confuse looks. "Half-whitelighter maybe?"
"Not possible." Leo said right off the bat. "It wasn't just a rule but unthinkable of before Piper and I." He shot me down.
"Could have been in secret." I said with a shrug.
Leo shook his head. "Don't believe so."
"Then why can she orb, Leo?" Phoebe asked again this time with his name.
He shook his head slightly. "They can't explain it."
We all stood up and start to move around now. "Wait a minute. How is it possible that they don't kn-" Cole shimmer in at the right time cutting Phoebe off on her rant.
Piper looks like she was ready to blow him up when he did not expecting him and I was ready to shoot him across the room if had to. He took a breath out. "Sorry I took so long. I had to dodge a couple of bounty hunters."
Leo was first to recover form the shimmer in. "Did you find anything out?" he ask trying to figure this out too.
Cole sat down on the chair arm and pull me in to the comfortable chair. "You have no idea what I found out." The aunts sent him a look to explain. "Turns out the Source doesn't think she's a whitelighter at all. In fact, he thinks she might be another..." he motion to the aunts and then myself.
"Wait what?" I ask leaning forward looking up to my favorite uncle, don't tell Leo.
He look to me with a slight frown from being confuse. "Charmed one. That's why he put Shax on it. He thought he ended the Power of Three. Now he's worried this girl somehow reconstitute it. He is also going to come after Dence once he learns that she has survive too."
Phoebe looks like she's about to cry and Piper like she wants to blow something up again. "No, but that's not possible." Phoebe insist. She span to look at Leo as both of them place their hands on their hips. "Is that possible?" She asked slightly demand him to answer. Leo shrug his shoulder and Piper huff out as she walk in a fast past away. "Piper?" Phoebe called.
"Piper?" I call after as I jump up and followed my eldest aunt.
"Piper?" Leo call her as she storm pass him to the staircase.
We all got up and start to run after her now. "Pip?!" I call after her as she ran upstairs and got to the attic where the candles from earlier were still set up.
"What's going on?" Phoebe demand with me on her heels.
Piper is pissed off and we all want answers. "Only one person can answer these questions." I said as I look to Leo and Cole as they round in behind me.
"I'm going to ask Grams what's going on, actually." Piper declared still pissed off.
"Grams?" Phoebe and I asked almost at the same time shock.
She just made the 'mm-hmm' sound as she looks at the book then up to the candles. "'Your destiny still awaits,' she says. 'There's a reason for everything,' she says." I look back to the Surprise and confuse looking uncles then back to my aunts. "So it's time to summon her transparent butt back here and find out exactly what that reason is." Phoebe tried to cut her off with reason but Piper started the spell cutting her off. "Hear these words, hear my cry, Spirit from the other side, come to me, I summon thee, cross now the Great Divide." Cole looks like he is happy it wasn't Phoebe who looks like she lost her marbles and Leo looks slightly confuse more so now then earlier as Piper snap the last bit hitting the book hard.
Grams formed transparently in the circle confuse. "Piper, why are you calling. Ph-Phoebe, wha-what's going on? Flame?" She look to me. I put my hands up in the air as if I wasn't part of this which I am not. Grams is just as confuse as we are.
"Grams, why does the Source think that the Charmed Ones can be reconstituted?" Grams has the lying face on.
I straighten up confuse more so now. "I- I don't know what you're talking about." She kept her lying face on.
Piper sounds aggravated but kept her cool better now then before. "You know what, Grams? You were a lousy liar when you were alive, and now as a ghost, you're worst." Piper pointed out mad.
Phoebe seems to sober up her act too knowing Grams is lying. "If you know something, Grams, you have to tell us." Phoebe said getting upset. "We deserve to know."
Grams gave her the motherly look that I have always loved about her as she tried to explain herself. "I can't. I'm sworn to secrecy."
"By who?" Phoebe snapped.
A voice I don't recognized said "By me." it was a female voice that reminds me of my mom's. I felt Piper grab my arm as another woman showed up in the circle. She looks so much like my aunts and Mom, it is Nana. "By me." She said again. I have only seen pictures of her. She has the same dark curly hair and eyes that all of them have but they have always kept their's straight and I like mine curly. Her skin looks lighter than theirs but same tone and mine and Mom's.
"Mom?" Piper asked doubtful.
Nana start to walk around Grams as she talked. Grams kept an eye on her looking like she doesn't want us to know. "We didn't tell anybody, because we were afraid that there would be reprisals, afraid that you girls would be denied your powers, your birthright." Nana told them as she kept walking around. The aunts look at each other confuse as I look at them confuse too. We were all getting the picture that it is big and also that I am starting to think I was right earlier but with a twist. Nana and Grams shared a worried look. "It happened after your father and I were divorced, when Sam and I were together." Sam was their whitelighter I believe, before we had Leo.
Cole lean to Leo slightly. "Sam?"
Leo lean back explaining. "Her whitelighter."
Cole seem to be in thought and joking look up to me then Piper and back to him. "Hmmm. Apples don't fall far from the forbidden tree, I see."
Piper shot her head to them with a loud shushing sound making me try to stay concentrating what we are about to find out for sure or not. "Go on." Piper told Nana still aggravated something was kept from her.
She took a breath before she started again. "You were both toddlers. You just thought mommy got a little fat. You never knew I was pregnant." She said softly after Piper and I already connected it. I glance to Phoebe as she squeezed my other arm.
Grams finally cut in. "I was the only one who knew." She said stepping up to her knowledge.
Nana look scared for a moment correcting Grams. "And Sam, obviously."
Grams kind of waved her off. "Well, yes, of course."
Nana looked at her daughters and they both look disappointed as I felt. I don't know why but I have a feeling things would have been a lot different if the baby stayed. "We wanted to keep the baby, of course. But Mother-" She turn to Grams.
Grams finished what Nana was about to say upset still. "Well, I—I knew it would be disastrous. You know, before you and Leo, Piper, it wasn't just forbidden it was unthinkable for witches to be with whitelighters, I mean let alone, have children with them.
"So that's why we had-" Nana start to choke up. "Why we decided..." she then took another breath. "To give the baby up. Sam and I took her to local church as soon as she was born, and we asked the Nun there to find a home for her. And she found one, a very, very good home." Piper looks like she's about to break down as is Phoebe. I lean to Phoebe and Phoebe wrap her arms around me.
"Yes." Grams nodding her head.
Leo look to me shock I got it right then spoke to the aunts. "Explains why the Elders didn't know about her."
Phoebe finally snapped and I RAN to Cole hiding behind him. "All right, hold it!" She holds up her hands walking to the candles. "Wait just one minute. Are you telling me that that girl, our innocent is really..." everyone held their breaths. "Our sister?" She gasp out.
"Your baby sister." Nana correct.
"Their baby half-sister." Grams corrected her.
"But by my half, which makes her a sister witch." She explain. Piper looks like she was about to have another melt down but this time with exploding things. "Well, actually, not yet, anyway." Nana and Grams look to each other again. "Not until all three of you are here together by the book," she then smile softly. "Just like before."
"Charmed." Grams said simply. Then added with a wide smile. "Again."
Cole spoke up again. "And I thought my family was screwed up." I hit him in his back making him groan. "Ouch." turning to face me. Piper shot him a glare that made me hide again, this time behind the one that can heal me if she does blow something up.
Before anything else could be done or said the attic door gets slam wide open and flashlight is shined around temperately blinding all of us besides the very shocked ghosts. A man I don't recognized but I guess knows one of both of my aunts look surprise but not scared or shocked surprise more like he figured out this huge thing surprise, happy like. "Well, I'll be damned." He admitted making me hide behind Leo more.
Freaking out slightly I grip back of Leo's shirt as Cole step in front of me so this new man couldn't see me. "Darryl, do something!" Piper groan.
"He's a cop, Piper, and he's got a search warrant." Darryl gasp out and look defeated.
The man start to shine the light in Grams and Nana making it go through them. "And believe me, I've found what I've been searching for." This surprise Darryl. Cole start to walk to him with hands in his pants pockets. The cop turn to him pointing gun straight at him. "Ah-ah-ah-ah. Don't move. I'll shoot."
"Then so will I." Cole said innocently but aggravated.
"Cole." Leo stepped in grabbing Cole's arm. Cole kept his body blocking mine from the cop.
Phoebe stepped in finally. "Okay, Inspector, just put the gun down." Phoebe tried to be voice of reason. "There is a very good explanation for all of this." We all looked at her doubtful with that one. She lean to Piper, "Feel free to chime in anytime, guys." She looked at not just Piper but the uncles and myself.
The cop start to walk to Leo and Cole with them blocking me. "My whole life, I suspected evil magic was real," Is this man nuts? If evil magic is real so is good. Even a child knows that. "that there was something more. I've seen too many horrible things in the job to suspect otherwise, not the least of which are two murders that happened here."
I grip the back of Leo and reach out grabbing Cole's jacket tightly. "Wait. Are you accusing us?" Piper snapped.
He start to yell then making me pull deeper between the two men scared. "I've just begun to accuse you, Lady."
