Chapter Three:

Aunt Paige Evil?

Phoebe stepped in finally. "Okay, Inspector, just put the gun down." Phoebe tried to be voice of reason. "There is a very good explanation for all of this." We all looked at her doubtful with that one. She lean to Piper, "Feel free to chime in anytime, guys." She looked at not just Piper but the uncles and myself.

The cop start to walk to Leo and Cole with them blocking me. "My whole life, I suspected evil magic was real," Is this man nuts? If evil magic is real so is good. Even a child knows that. "that there was something more. I've seen too many horrible things in the job to suspect otherwise, not the least of which are two murders that happened here."

I grip the back of Leo and reach out grabbing Cole's jacket tightly. "Wait. Are you accusing us?" Piper snapped.

He start to yell then making me pull deeper between the two men scared. "I've just begun to accuse you, Lady."

Grams finally spoke up making me a little calmer till she said everything she had to say. "All right, fine. You caught us. Congratulations. So what are you going to do about it, shoot us?" She sassed the cop with a gun aim in my direction.

"Easy, Grams. Not all of us are dead remember?" Phoebe snapped at our grandmother, well my great-grandmother.

Finally one of the uncles, Leo, step up as more reasonable then Phoebe was. "All right, look, you can't arrest us," he said motion around the room still letting me hide. "Especially not them." he motion at the two ghosts. "Nobody'll ever believe you."

"Maybe not at first." He start to get to confident if you ask me. "I'm putting this whole place under constant surveillance. I'm taping your every move. Sooner or later, I'll catch you doing something, uh, supernatural," wow, such a big word, He look at my grandmothers. "And then-" Finally Darryl hits him upside the head making him become knocked out.

"He talks to much." I said sticking my head out looking at Darryl who jumped at my voice. "Took you long enough." I glare at him slightly.

He shook his head realizing why Cole was acting reckless more then normal. "I think you've been through enough today, huh?" He look at my aunts and uncles then me.

"Thank you." Piper told him which he nod his head to.

Phoebe came running over to him. "Darryl, go. Get out of here. We don't want you to take the fall for this."

He start to shake his head. "No, it's okay."

She start to panic. "No, it's not. This is our problem." She said softly still in panic. "He wants to expose us, not you." she is reasoning with my other uncle and best friend's dad. "Let us take care of this. Please?" She begged trying to get him out of here.

He sigh in annoyance. "If you need me, you know where to find me, huh?" He ask her annoyed still. Phoebe nod her head then he turn to me. "You get back to hiding before someone else sees you are still around when you are suppose to be gone." I nod my head agreeing with him.

"This doesn't solve your problem. He's gonna wake up eventually. You just bought yourself some time" Cole spoke softly to his girlfriend and I moved around to the knocked out man looking down at him.

Leo grab my arm pulling back to him. "What you're gonna need, especially if you wanna save your..." he stop looking to Phoebe unable to really say it.

Phoebe looks lost saying it herself. "Sister?"

Grams jumped in then. "Well, what are you waiting for? Just write a spell, get rid of him." she said looking down to the KO cop.

I frown slightly as Phoebe talked. "Uh, get rid of him?" She asked just as confuse and all as I am.

Grams gave her a disappointed look. "Well, you know what I mean. Dump him somewhere, anywhere. With all the witches in this room, we outta do something with him. I mean, just start rhyming." Piper still looks aggravated and about to blow something up. Please don't be anything near me. "Uh, take him back, take him away, remove him now, don't let him stay," She start to move her hand for Phoebe to continue.

"Oh, uh, we..." She starts thinking about it hard. "Call the spirits to help undo and send him off to..." She stop looking at me.

"Timbuktu?" I ask her when her eyes land on me.

"Timbuktu!" She squeal happy she got something that rhymes with Undo. The man went up in white lights being teleported somewhere else. To Timbuktu.

"Timbuktu?" Cole asked looking down at me.

"It rhymed with Undo." I answer with a shrug.

"Whoa. It worked." Phoebe said shocked looking at me then Grams who looks mighty proud.

"Timbuktu? You sent him to Timbuktu?" Piper slightly freaked out on Phoebe.

She put her hands up on the freaking out Piper. "All right, well, it was the only thing I could think of that rhymed with undo." She defend herself. "Besides that it is what Dence said." She tried to throw me under the bus.

"Don't blame this on the kid." Piper glared at Phoebe aggravated.

"Not a kid!" I groan.

"Don't worry. I'll, uh- I'll find him." Cole stepped in to defuse the situation. With that he shimmer out.

"What did the other cop mean by you better get back to hiding?" Nana ask me facing me dead on.

I took a deep breath. "Um." I look to my aunts who both took a step back. "I am kind of suppose to be at summer camp." I answer hesitantly.

Grams raise an eyebrow at me. "If you are suppose to be why aren't you?" she ask slightly strict that I remember she was when we were suppose to do something but didn't.

"She threw a camp councilor across a room." Piper said strictly glaring in my direction. "That is after she pour gravy over his head." she added.

"Back to original subject please." I slightly begged looking to my aunts and not meeting my grandmothers eyes.

Piper snapped again. "Okay, well, this is way too much for me to handle, way to much." She is about to blow something up I am sure of it.

Nana start to talk again this time to my aunts which kinda relieve me. "Nobody can blame you for being angry, sweetie." She said to her middle child.

Piper turn to face her mother and grandmother. "Angry? Yeah, I'm angry." She snapped. "Um, I'm confused, and you know what?" She is ranting which is better than blowing things up. "This—this is just crazy." She snapped again. "You cannot float in here after all these years and go, 'Oh, gosh, I forgot. By the way you've got a sister.' Especially not today, of all days." She finish ranting.

Nana looks extremely upset and want to cry. "I know it's a lot, sweetie, more than anybody should deal with, but you're going to have to deal with it the best way you know how. Losing Prue, learning about another sister.." she hesitate. "This is your path. It's your destiny. Get angry at it, cry about it, but don't fight it, or it'll consume you." she is speaking from experience I can tell. She then turn to me. "Just like your path, your destiny, is at Hogwarts. You need to embrace it not run from it."

Grams cut in finally. "Come on, Patty. The rest is up to them." Grams entwine her fingers with Nana's and then they left with pretty white lights flying around.

I went downstairs and saw her come in. My eyes went slightly wide as I look up the stairs. "Leo! Piper! Phoebe!" I called as the woman walk to me.

Leo groans as the two start to ask him questions after questions. "I can't sense where she is, because she's technically not a witch yet."

"All right, so all we have to go on is that church that mom mentioned and the nun." Phoebe groan.

Piper start to talk before they got all the way down. "Okay, let's just get one thing straight." She said loud enough to make me roll my eyes. "I am only doing this to save her. I'm not remotely interested in reconstituting..."

I stomp my feet. "Aunts!" I yelled at them making them look to me.

Piper was the one that snapped though. "What?" She then felt bad and saw what I was trying to get their attention for.

The woman spoke softly not knowing what to really say. "I—The door was open." She motion behind her. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't be here." She start to turn around. I ran forward grabbing her jacket sleeve. It is an ugly orange but looks good on her.

"No, no, no. No, no." Phoebe jumped in. Phoebe grab the other arm. "We were just coming to look for you." she admitted.

The woman looks so confuse as she look to Piper and Leo. "You were?"

"Yep. Come on in. Welcome. I'm Phoebe." She said excitedly. "This is Dence." She motion to me who did a half wave as Phoebe link their arms and walk fast back to Piper. "And this is..."

"Piper." the girl said. "I know. I've been to your club. It's pretty great."

She's nervous and the look Piper is giving her isn't helping. I softly elbow my eldest aunt. "Thank you." She said softly. "And you are?" She then gave me a glare for elbowing her.

"Paige." She answer. "My name is Paige."

Piper look to Phoebe and then me. "Hmm. Another 'P.' Imagine that." Phoebe said with a cocky attitude making Piper glare at her this time.

Finally Piper is being friendly. She stuck her hand out to Paige. "It's nice to meet you." She said softly.

Right above us the book start to glow shining down the floors and to us. It felt empowering in a way. The chandelier start to shake and all of us look up at the soft light with soft gasps. Even Leo looks surprise as Piper and Paige pull away from each other the light went away. "Okay. What was that?" She asked surprise and slightly scared.

Leo spoke up as he stayed at his place on the steps. "I think that means you're supposed to be here." He answer her.

We all gasp and turn around when the doors flew open and a big twister of wind came in. It was like before when mom died. I felt my heart dropped and I was about to break down myself. A flash of light and we all went flying in different directions. Leo caught me before I hit the floor and the aunts went another way.

The gray man form with the ugly hair and disturbing look as he looked at us. He walked over as the Aunts start to get up and Leo moved me behind him so it was him then me and wall. Before the Demon, Shax, could attack the aunts Leo lung himself on top of the demon and hold on as tightly as he could. "Run! Get upstairs!" He yelled at the aunts and me.

"Leo!?" We all yelled at him but listen as we all went upstairs.

Paige is lost as we pull her in front of the book. "What are we doing? What is that thing?" She asked slightly out of breath.

"We'll explain later." Piper declare as she flip to the right page. "Okay, just say this spell out loud with us, okay?" She ask in a rush.

Paige looks surprise and slightly scared. "Spell, what are you guys, witches?" she asked in fear.

"And so are you, we hope." Phoebe answer as I grip on to Piper's arm scared.

"Well, we're about to find out." Piper said as the doors start to shake and then explode as Shax reformed himself. We all screamed from the startle.

"Evil wind that blows, that which forms below, no longer may you dwell, death takes you with this spell." All four of us chanted. Shax start to groan and scream in pain as he twisted and then explode in red lights.

"It's not enough. Shax is just the messenger. We gotta get the Source." Phoebe said softer.

Paige looks to Phoebe scared and slightly angry now. "Source of what?" She asked, more like snapped.

The two older of my aunts look to each other. "Hmm. Of all evil." Piper answered slowly.

Paige looks so scared and discussed. "What have you guys turned me into?" She asked. She start to run off.

Piper was the one that called after her as Phoebe looks worried and scared. I let go of Piper and took a few steps back scared myself. "Paige?" Piper called.

"Wait!" Phoebe screamed. Paige was gone, again.

Piper look to me. "Dence, you should go to bed." She said in a defeated voice. I frown at her and shook my head. "Phoenix Prudence Halliwell, go to bed." She snapped at me.

Phoebe grab my hand. "Come on, you can sleep with me tonight." She said and dragged me down to her room. We changed and got in to bed. I didn't fall asleep as easy as I would normally. Today was a long day though, it shouldn't be that hard.

Next morning Piper was putting ice packs on Leo's neck messing with him about him being able to heal others but not himself. He groan out his answer that it's hard to heal himself but Piper doesn't slack up on him. Phoebe ask about how he can be knocked out since he is really technically dead. "Three years and now you are asking these questions?" he asked shocked.

"Well- I think the more appropriated question is, how does a whitelighter get somebody knocked up?" I have a feeling this question for personal gain not about newly discover aunt.

Leo looks confuse. "What's that suppose to mean." Phoebe is laughing about this and I'm trying not to.

Piper look at him just as confuse. "What do you think it means?" She asked.

"Subtle." I laugh softly looking through my comic book.

"If this is about Paige I swear the Elders had no idea that she even existed or that she was your sister." I did palm-face. He is an idiot.

"Sister witch." Phoebe corrected him.

"Half-witch, half-whitelighter." Piper went for Phoebe's back. "Let's not forget that little surprise." she walked around the island again to him moving the icepack some. "I still can't believe that mom kept that a secret from us." She groans softly.

"Well, it sounded like she didn't have much of a choice." Phoebe went for Nana's back.

Piper sigh looking over to Phoebe. "We're her daughters." She said aggravated again. "She could have found a way to share that information with us."

I jumped up when the doorbell rang. "Saved by the bell." I said running off.

Piper said something as I got to the kitchen door heading to the front door. "That better not be another long-lost relative." She snapped slightly.

I open the door to my third uncle. "Hey, Dence. Hi Piper." He look over my shoulder to my aunt.

"Hi there." She said confuse as he barge in like he owns the place. Hell he's here enough.

He starts to looking in different rooms going to Leo and Phoebe. "Where's Cortez?" He asked still glancing around for the man.

"Who?" Leo asked confuse.

"Other cop?" I asked at the same time.

"Inspector Cortez, the one I hit over the head, the one you said you would take care of. He's missing. Police inspectors are not supposed to be missing. Where is he?" Darryl ranted as he start to freak out slightly.

Phoebe spoke up and I went behind Leo again. Darryl has a gun, I know he is not afraid to use it. "Well, I, uh, kind of sent him to..."

Piper cut Phoebe off cause she was taking to long. "Timbuktu. It rhymed with 'undo.'"

Darryl looked to Phoebe not really believing it. "Timbuktu." He stated not asked.

Phoebe made the mm-hmm sound and Leo came to the rescue. "It's okay. Cole went to get him."

Darryl did a double glance at Leo. "Cole?" he asked with no emotion in his voice.

Right then as if on que Cole shimmer in. "Cole!" Phoebe start to run to him.

"Wait." he said as he looked around carefully. A bounty hunter showed up and Cole shot him with an energy blast. Jumping on to the stairs and scaring everyone. "Damn bounty hunters. They're like gnats."

Darryl look at Cole aggravated and trying hard to control his emotions. "Where's the inspector?" He asked.

"Don't worry. I found him, moved him to a place he can't tell a soul what he saw..." he glance down before back up real fast. "Literally." I groan knowing where.

Leo I could tell did too but he wants to play stupid I think. Wants to try to make sure Cole still have some good in him or something. "What do you mean? Where'd you put him?" Everyone looked down when Cole pointed down.

Phoebe trying to be hopeful that Cole did what was right. "In the basement?" She asked.

Piper answer for her. "No. I think he means a little bit further down than that."

Phoebe gave up the act. "Oh."

Leo groans this time. "Cole, he's a cop. He's one of the good guys."

Cole went to bat real fast. He's been practicing I think. "He's also the one who can expose them as witches." he motion to my aunts and I. "I would think you above anybody would want to avoid that as all costs."

Leo went father like scolding a child. "Not at that cost. We have to save him."

Darryl start to freak out again and look at Leo getting mad. "Save him? What do you mean, Save him?" He look to my aunts and I then back to Leo. "Wh-what's going on?"

Phoebe to the rescue or more damage not sure which yet. "You know what, Darryl?" she grabbed his hand and dragged him back to the door. "We are gonna take care of this whole mess, okay?"

"Wait a sec- hold-"

"Okay, you don't worry about it." Piper looks stress. I step behind Leo again and he softly squeeze my arm.

She turn to Leo hopeful as she thought about it. "Okay. Maybe you can talk to the inspector and reason with him." She pointed out calmly.

Cole went protective of the family again. "And what if he can't? What if you two get exposed? Don't forget about what happens to Dence once you two are gone." He pointed out. Then he looked back to Piper again slightly panicking. "What's to say the same thing won't happen to you that happened to Prue?"

Phoebe was watching Piper's face as she spoke carefully. "Well, it's a risk we'll have to take."

"Yeah? Well, you know what? There's another risk you guys have to worry about. On the way back, I heard gargoyles."

Piper sound doubtful and annoyed. "Gargoyles? You mean like statues?"

He gave her a what the hell look. "That's only in their resting state." he stated simply. "They come alive to ward off evil. In this case, I think they're trying to ward off the Source. I think he's surfaced."

Phoebe sounds more freaked out then I'm feeling. I don't know what to think or do just squeeze Leo's arm as he holds me carefully to his side. "Wait- What? He's here? Now? Where?"

Cole shrug his shoulders. "I don't know. Could be anywhere." He answered. "Or anyone." he said the last part carefully.

"He probably came for Paige, but she doesn't stand a chance against him. She doesn't even know what her power is yet." Leo went on still holding me close protectively.

"Leo, we don't stand a chance against him, not without Prue." Phoebe said scared still and still freaking out.

Leo look to Phoebe trying to figure things out. "But you might with Paige, the new Power of Three."

Piper look up to her husband and asked softly. "Can you sense her?"

He shook his head. "I don't think so. She's too new."

Piper sigh then. "Well, then we just have to start with the Church mom was talking about."

Phoebe still scared and we all can tell as she plays with her necklaces. "Piper."

"What?" she said softly. "Phoebe, I'm not crazy about it, either, but we can't just do nothing, not now. Mom wouldn't want us to...and neither would Prue." that worked.

They left leaving me behind. Leo and Cole went down to get the cop and Piper and Phoebe went off to find the church. They were looking through phone books and trying to find anything they could about any churches in our area. After a while Piper voice can be heard through the rooms as she called for Phoebe. "Phoebe, I think I found the..." Her voice just drops. I am sitting on my mom's bed with a stuff animal she gave me an I left on her bed whenever I slept with her which was more often then I would ever admit to. "Phoebe, Dence?" she look to us. Phoebe is standing in front of a window looking out it with a jacket in her hands. Piper put the phone book down carefully looking to me then to my now middle aunt. "What are you doing in here?" She asked carefully.

Phoebe turn around to face her with the jacket still in her hands. "You remember the time I borrow this from Prue without asking her?"

Piper sigh with the memory. "Which time?" she asked simply.

Phoebe smile at the memory. "When my boyfriend's cat peed on it." She said and Piper look downward. "She got so mad, I thought she was gonna have a stroke. But the funny thing was she got mad at you because she thought that you were the one that borrowed it. And you never told her the truth. She never knew it was really me." She starts to cry harder than what was coming out and softly sobbing.

Piper watches as she sits down on the love seat like couch and then walk to Phoebe to her letting her cry on her shoulder. "I miss her so much." She cried out.

"I know." Piper said softly like a mother. "Me, too." She said still as soft. "I was wondering when you were gonna let go."

Phoebe laugh slightly but didn't come out as a laugh more like more sobs. "I was trying to-" Piper got her a tissue and Phoebe stop for a moment. "Thanks-" Then start to talk again. "Stay strong, you know," softly sobs. "Keep it together for you two, and..." she wipe her eyes. "Then I put all my energy into trying to save Paige because I figured only one of us could break down at a time. Otherwise, we'd both be useless." She lean forward off of Piper. "I'm scared, Piper." She said looking to my eldest aunt. "I am really, really scared. She always took the lead. She was-" Phoebe didn't know how to describe it. With a sigh she said what only they would understand but in a way I did too. "She was our big sister." with another sigh she asked the thing that's on all of our minds. "How are we supposed to go on without her? How are we supposed to go against the Source without her?"

Piper sigh thinking of what she should say. "I don't know." She answer looking back to Phoebe. "But I do know that we can't let the bastard get Paige, either, so no matter what we think or feel, she is our sister, and sisters protect each other." She said softer. "Dence, you are our sister witch though you are our niece which makes you double protected by us." She added with a slight smile with her arm up for me to join them. Phoebe moved over slightly and let me crawl between them. Once I was there safe I felt somewhat better.

Once they left I curled up in the room I always played in when I was little. It's the one that's is mostly to all glass stained windows everywhere. I hold the stuff toy closer to me smiling that it still smells like mom. I must of have doze off because next thing I know it is getting dark and Piper came in screaming for Leo with Phoebe right behind her. "Did you find her?" I ask with a yawn.

"Yes." Phoebe said as they came in to the room. I Uncurl myself around the stuff animal, the stuff dragon, and look at them with the dragon in my lap. "Someone else was there." She said softer then a moment later Leo orbed in and Cole Shimmer next to him.

"We went to the Church. The Gargoyles start to screech and then next thing we know is some guy talks Paige in to leaving with him like she knew him." Piper explain in one sitting.

"And you are sure it was the Source?" Leo asked as Cole start to pace.

Phoebe got snappy again. "Well, the gargoyles weren't exactly whistling 'Dixie,' Leo."

Piper then finish the thought. "Plus, something pretty powerful knocked us on her our asses." Piper is aggravated about that.

Cole is trying to figure this thing out as are we. "But if he was there, why didn't he try to kill Paige?"

Phoebe came up with the only solution she could. "Maybe he didn't want to go up against the Charmed Ones."

Cole sat in the chair across from me. "No, doesn't make sense. He knows that Paige is new to her powers. If ever there was a time to attack-" Cole explain aggravated but softly.

"Wait a minute." Leo spoke up realizing something we haven't yet. We all looked up to him confuse. "What if he's not trying to kill her anymore?" He asked as he look at Cole, whom knows the Source the best. "What if he's trying to lure her to his side?"

Piper looks like she is confuse and about to throw a fit and Phoebe lean over her looking to Cole. "Translation, please."

Cole glance to them. "Mythological window." He answer. Both aunts and I are utterly confuse.

"There's a window of opportunity—an opening." Leo explain better.

"48 hours." Cole threw in there.

"Right. 48 hours where a nascent witch who hasn't chosen to use her power for good or evil yet can be swayed either way." Leo sat down in the chair next to me looking at the aunts.

Phoebe is the one that spoke as I tried to figure all this up in my head. "Wait. So all he has to do is cast a spell on her?"

Cole shook his head. "No. He can't. It has to be her choice, but he can tempt her, entice her. If he gets her to use her powers for evil..." Cole look for best way to explain this to us.

Leo cut him off. "She becomes evil forever." Leo explained.

Phoebe sigh in aggravation and Piper looks ready to kill someone. "Who makes up these cockamamie rules?" She snaps. Leo motion to the sky when Cole look down to where hell is making me hide my smirk behind my hand about how they both don't really know just know the rules. "Oh, never mind." She roll her eyes at them. Deciding as did I that it was best not to really know.

Phoebe took a breath talking now. "Okay. So we have less than 24 hours to get Paige and no idea how to find her."

Piper got an idea. I like it when Piper get ideas. "But I'll bet the Source does." She said with her wheels turning. Everyone looked at her. "Dence, you are going to the Morris's no ifs ands or buts." She said as she got up as did the others.

Cole motion me to follow him. "I'll take you." I went over and he shimmer us off to a few houses away from the Morris house. Once there he walked with me down the street to it.

Knocking on the door Sheila open the door then before I could protest she pull me up in a motherly hug. "Dence." She said happily. "Come in, you are in time for dinner. Oh, Cole, will you be joining us?"

He shook his head. "I am sorry, Sheila I have prior arrangements but we need Dence out of the house for a bit. Is it a problem-" he start.

Sheila shook her head scoffing. "It's never a problem to have my other daughter her." She roll her eyes and motion me inside.
