Chapter Seven:

Castle and Ruins

After that we went down each compartment asking if they seen the toad, Trevor. All of the ones we stopped at said no. We got to the last one as Neville came out of it. "Well?" I ask though by his face expression I already knew the answer.

"Nothing. No one have seen him." He pout holding back tears.

I had to cheer him up before the waterworks happen. "It's okay. He'll turn up, toads do that, trust me." I smile stating out of semi experience.

He look at me hopeful. "Alright." I nod back and look to the last compartment with a strange feeling.

"Did you check the last compartment?" I wonder.

Neville nod his head and Hermione look determine. "Well it won't hurt to double check." Hermione stated pulling me along with her to it. "Has anyone seen a toad? Neville's lost one." She said with a bossy voice.

A boy with red hair snapped at us. "We've already told him we haven't seen it." The boy looks familiar. We could see a wand pointing at a rat asleep in his lap.

Hermione added up the clues and perk up some. "Oh, are you doing magic?" She ask sitting down and motion him to go on. "Let's see it, then." She said trying to get him to speed up.

She changed into her robes already as have I cause of her insisting. I look to the other boy in same compartment and sat down. "Hey, Harry." I smile to him warmly.

"Hey, Dence" he said back, I am happy I properly introduce myself to him after the Ollivander's chaos, as we look to the red head boy.

The second boy clear his throat as he pointed his wand at the rat again. "Sunshine, daisies, buttermellow,

Turn this stupid, fat rat yellow." He waved his wand but nothing happen. The rat stay ugly gray and asleep.

Hermione scolf making me glare at her for being rude. "Are you sure that's a real spell?" She ask. "Well, it's not very good, is it?" She said to fast still being rude. "I've tried a few simple spells just for the practice and it's all worked for me. Nobody in my family's magic at all, it was ever such a surprise when I got my letter, but of course, I mean, it's the very best school of witchcraft there is, I've heard- I've learned all our course books by heart, of course, I just hope it will be enough- I'm Hermione Granger, by the way, who are you?" She spoke really fast I don't think she was even breathing.

They both had stunned faces and I tried to hold back the laugh. "I'm Ron Weasley." The red head mutter and finally I realize that he is a younger version of the Ron in my vision.

"I'm Harry Potter." Harry said and by Hermione's face expression I could tell she was going to start and maybe not stop this time.

"Are you really?" She asked excites. "I know all about you of course-" here we go again. "I got a few extra books for background reading, and you're in Modern Magical History and The Rise and Fall of the Dark Arts and Great Wizardry Events of Twentieth Centry."

"I am?" Harry looked confused and like he going to hurl. I moved a little bit away from him.

"Goodness, didn't you know, I'd have found out everything I could if it was me," she said as I felt bad. "Do either of you know what house you'll be in? I've been asking around, and I hope I'm in Gryffindor, it sounds by far the best, I heard Dumbledore himself was in it, but I suppose Ravenclaw wouldn't be too bad... anyway, we'd better go and look for Neville's toad. You two had better change, you know I expect we'll to be there soon."

I let her and Neville get ahead and turn to Ron. "I think we haven't properly met, I'm Prudence Trudeau. Call me Dence though." I stuck my hand out to the redhead.

"Ron Weasley. Quite a chatty mate you have." He motion to where Hermione was.

I slightly laugh and smile warmly to him. "She gets better longer you know her I suppose. That or you'll get used to it." I told him with a slight shrug.

"Whatever house I'm in, I hope she's not in it," said Ron. He threw his wand into his trunk. "Stupid spell - George gave it to me, bet he knew it was a dud." George, one of the twins from my vision. This made me smile.

"What house are your brothers in?" Harry asked before I could.

"Gryffindor," he answered as he got gloomy over something. "Mum and Dad were in it, too. I don't know what they'll say if I'm not. I don't suppose Ravenclaw would be too bad, but imagine if they put me in Slytherin."

"That's the house Vol-, I mean, You-Know-Who was in?" Harry asked and I am now confuse.

I look between them still confuse. "Who?"

Ron rolled his eyes as he look at me. "You-know-who." He answer making me more confuse.

"No, I don't." I stated still utterly confuse and Harry LAUGH at this. He better not be laughing at me.

"No, You-Know-Who." Ron said slower.

I lean forward till our noses are nearly touching. "I-Do-Not-Know-Who." I said back at him.

"No!" Ron was now nearly yelling.

Harry got his laughing under control then finally came to the recue. "Ron, she's like me, well just as lost in these ways." Harry told his friend.

"What do you mean?" Ron ask lost now.

"I'm a coven witch from America." I answer with a shrug as I look to Harry. "Now who is he talking about?"

"The man who Mr Ollivander was talking about. The one who gave me this," he moved his bangs and I nod in understanding.

"Voldemort?" I ask and he gave me a confuse look and Ron wince.

"Yes, his name isn't spoken." Harry answer as Ron gave me a look I don't understand.

"Speak of the devil type of thing?" I ask.

He nod his head. "Yeah."

"Yeah," said Ron after our confusing each other but now really funny missunderstanding. He flopped back into his seat, looking depressed now. Something is also nagging at back of my mind saying danger, but only Harry and Ron are in the compartment with me.

"You know, I think the ends of Scabbers' whiskers are a bit lighter," said Harry, trying to take Ron's mind off houses. "So what do your oldest brothers do now that they've left, anyway?" I reach out to touch Ron's arm and side of my hand touch Scrabbers.

PREMONITION

I stood in a doorway of a strange house. Worn out and tired redhead woman with worried expression on her face came running to me. "Prudence, you shouldn't fight without the other Coven witches." She scold me as she helped me into a worn down beaten and looks like have burn marks wooden chair.

"Had to, my job to protect." I gasp out trying to get my breath back. An older looking Harry and Ron came down the stairs. They look older but still them. I smile to Harry and took a deep breath. "Happy Birthday, Harry." I said as I sat straight and concentrate on who I had to call. "Paige!" I called my aunt and she orb down.

After the blue and white lights settle she look over me. "What happen? You step in front of a train?" She ask as she heal my broken ribs and who knows what else.

Later we were eating and having tea with a bunch of people. A tall man with brown hair with gray look gaunt and grim. If I'd known better I would think he looks like a walking corps.

"There have been another couple of dementor attacks," he announced, as Mrs. Weasley passed him a large slice of birthday cake. "And they've found Igor Karkaroff's body in a shack up north. The Dark Mark had been set over it — well, frankly, I'm surprised he stayed alive for even a year after deserting the Death Eaters; Sirius's brother, Regulus, only managed a few days as far as I can remember."

"Yes, well," said an older man who I have to assume is Mr. Weasley, frowning, "perhaps we should talk about something diff—"

"Did you hear about Florean Fortescue, Remus?" asked an older version of Ron but to young to be his father, who was being plied with wine by a woman I assume is his wife. "The man who ran —"

"— the ice-cream place in Diagon Alley?" Harry interrupted, "He used to give Prue and me free ice creams. What's happened to him?" I closed my eyes tightly not wanting to know but have to find out.

"Dragged off, by the look of his place."

"Why?" asked Ron, while Mrs. Weasley pointedly glared at the older brother.

"Who knows? He must've upset them somehow. He was a good man, Florean."

"Talking of Diagon Alley," said Mr. Weasley, "looks like Ollivander's gone too."

"The wandmaker?" said the girl now older but still looks like her mother, looking startled.

"That's the one. Shop's empty. No sign of a struggle. No one knows whether he left voluntarily or was kidnapped." My gut twisted. Not so long ago I was with him helping with a new wand idea.

"But wands — what'll people do for wands?"

"They'll make do with other makers," said Remus. "But Ollivander was the best, and if the other side have got him it's not so good for us." He glance to a small redhead that has darker hair than the other red heads in the room. Her eyes are same green as Remus's.

"The best thing we can do is hope they don't." I said stabbing at the cake in front of me.

Paige looks as if she is agreeing with me. "The Elders can't help and we need to stop the demon attacks in America. The worst it gets over here the more attacks we get over there." With that she orb out.

END PREMONITION

"Dence, are you alright?" Harry asked worried.

"Yeah, how long was I spaced?" I asked as I rub my eyes trying to get the blurry to focus.

"A couple of minutes. What happen?" He lean to me some to look me over.

I mumble without thinking. "Vision." Closing my eyes tightly.

"What?" Ron asked as I shook my head clear and look to him nervously.

"Don't worry about it. It's a coven witch thing. Did I said something while I was out of it?" I look between them.

"Just something about demon attacks." Harry answer and I nod my head.

I could tell they had questions. "I had a vision of demons attacking. It was a past one so no worries." I force a smile. I don't think I should tell them about their future yet, as if they will believe me. The lie came out easy enough.

"You can see past and future?" Ron asked shock.

I nod my head slowly. "Yeah, but I can't pick what I see or when it happens." I answer carefully.

Ron look uncomfortable so when he change subjects I was greatful. "What's your Quidditch team?" Ron asked looking between us.

"Er - I don't know any," Harry confessed.

"What's Quittish?" I ask and Ron look like he was about to have heart failure.

"What!" Ron looked dumbfounded. "Oh, you wait, it's the best game in the world -" And he was off, explaining all about the four balls and the positions of the seven players, describing famous games he'd been to with his brothers and the broomstick he'd like to get if he had the money. He was just taking the two through the finer points of the game when the compartment door slid open yet again, but it wasn't Neville, or Hermione this time.

Three boys entered. Stood in middle of them was a pale boy with blond hair so light that it looks white. His blue eyes are so strange looking they look cloudy gray. They aren't evil but they aren't good either. The two on either side of him look like mob boss guards or bodyguards.

"Is it true?" he ask as he look between Harry and I. "They're saying all down the train that Harry Potter's in this compartment along with a Coven Witch. So it's you, is it?"

"Yes," said Harry. He was looking at the other boys. Both of them were thickset and looked extremely mean. I reach over and look over the other two sizing them. They look tough but I have taken down demons bigger than them.

The middle notice Harry and I looking at them. "Oh, this is Crabbe and this is Goyle," said the pale boy carelessly, as if they don't matter at all. "And my name's Malfoy, Draco Malfoy." Ron gave a slight cough, which might have been hiding a laugh. Draco Malfoy looked at him. "Think my name's funny, do you? No need to ask who you are. My father told me all the Weasleys have red hair, freckles, and more children than they can afford." He turned back to Harry and I. "You'll soon find out some wizarding families are much better than others, Potter and Coven witch. You don't want to go making friends with the wrong sort. I can help you there."

He held out his hand to shake Harry's, but Harry didn't take it. "I think I can tell who the wrong sort are for myself, thanks," he said coolly.

He glance to me as did Draco. "My uncle is a Demon and my OTHER Uncle is an Angel that lives with us. Thank you but no thanks." I smile to him.

Draco Malfoy a pink tinge appeared in his pale cheeks and I just shrug my shoulders. "I'd be careful if I were you, Potter and Cover Witch," he said slowly. "Unless you're a bit politer you'll go the same way as Potter's parents. They didn't know what was good for them, either. You hang around with riffraff like the Weasleys and that Hagrid, and it'll rub off on you." That rile me up faster than anything. Attack the person not their family. Ever heard of family honor?

"Do you really have so little respect for the dead?" I snapped out.

All three of us stood up ready to fight them. "Say that again," Ron said, his face now match his hair.

"Oh, you're going to fight us, are you?" Malfoy sneered.

"Unless you get out now," said Harry. I look at him carefully then to the two dodo birds by the blond.

"But we don't feel like leaving, do we, boys? We've eaten all our food and you still seem to have some." Goyle reached toward the Chocolate Frogs next to Ron. Ron jump forward to stop him, before he'd so much as touched Goyle, Goyle let out a horrible yell. Ron's rat was hanging off his finger, sharp little teeth sunk deep into Goyle's knuckle. Crabbe and Malfoy backed away as Goyle swung the rat a round, howling, and when it finally flew off and hit the window, all three of them disappeared at once. They probably thought there were more rats hiding in the sweets, or they'd heard footsteps.

A moment later Hermione had come back in. "What has been going on?" she ask, looking at the sweets all over the floor iin disgust.

Ron picked up his pet by the tail. "I think he's been knocked out," Ron said to us. He looked closer at it. "No - I don't believe it - he's gone back to sleep-" And so he had making me bust out laughing.

"You've met Malfoy before?" Harry explained about their meeting in Diagon Alley. "I've heard of his family," said Ron darkly. "They were some of the first to come back to our side after You-Know-Who disappeared. Said they'd been bewitched. My dad doesn't believe it. He says Malfoy's father didn't need an excuse to go over to the Dark Side." He turned to Hermione. "Can we help you with something?"

"You'd better hurry up and put your robes on, I've just been up to the front to ask the conductor, and he says we're nearly there. You haven't been fighting, have you? You'll be in trouble before we even get there!"

"Scabbers has been fighting, not us," said Ron, scowling at her. "Would you mind leaving while we change?" He grumble out.

"All right - I only came in here because people outside are behaving very childishly, racing up and down the corridors," said Hermione in a sniffy voice. "And you've got dirt on your nose, by the way, did you know?" Sure enough now I look he does, huh I didn't even notice.

Ron glared at her as we left. Getting back to our compartment I look out the window after checking Charlotte and the book. It was getting dark now. I can barely see mountains and forests under a deep purple sky. The train did seem to be slowing down a bit too.

A voice echoed through the train: "We will be reaching Hogwarts in five minutes' time. Please leave your luggage on the train, it will be taken to the school separately."

At that I took a deep breath. If I had any doubt I don't now. No turning back. I am sure Uncle Cole would blink, well he shimmers now, here and get me if I called. Something didn't sit right with that thought though. It's comfort but didn't sit right. Hermione grab my arm pulling me in to the crowd.

The train slowed right down and finally stopped. People pushed their way toward the door and out on to a tiny, dark platform. The temperature drop made me shivered in the cold night air. Then a lamp came bobbing over the heads of everyone, and then heard a familiar voice: "Firs' years! Firs' years over here! All right there, Harry, Dence?" Hagrid's big hairy face beamed over the sea of heads. "C'mon, follow me - any more firs' years? Mind yer step, now! Firs' years follow me!" He went on his job.

Slipping and stumbling, we followed Hagrid down what seemed to be a steep, narrow path. It was so dark on either side of us that a I thought there must be thick trees there. Nobody spoke much. Neville, the boy who kept losing his toad, sniffed couple of times. I guess he didn't find it. I reach over placing a hand on his arm for comfort.

"Ye' all get yer firs' sight o' Hogwarts in a sec," Hagrid called over his shoulder, "jus' round this bend here."

There was a loud "Oooooh!" From everyone.

The narrow path had opened suddenly onto the edge of a great black lake. Perched atop a high mountain on the other side, its windows sparkling in the starry sky, was a vast castle with many turrets and towers.

"No more'n four to a boat!" Hagrid called, pointing to a fleet of little boats sitting in the water by the shore. Harry and Ron were followed into their boat by Neville and Hermione. I went to one and a boy that reminds me of a bike gang leader with messy black hair and sparkling blue eyes came over as did a pretty blond hair girl the last being a snobby girl who kept her nose turn up at us.

"Everyone in?" shouted Hagrid, who had a boat to himself. "Right then -FORWARD!"

And the fleet of little boats moved off all at once, gliding across the lake, which was as smooth as glass. Everyone was silent, staring up at the great castle overhead. It towered over them as they sailed closer to the cliff on which it stood.

I am sure the fairy magic is letting me see the ruins that is also around the castle. It is see through so I don't believe the others can see it. It's really quite beautiful and breath taking.

"Heads down!" yelled Hagrid as the first boats reached the cliff. We all bent our heads and the little boats carried us through a curtain of ivy that hid a wide opening in the cliff face. Reminds me of the story of the ferry that carried souls to hell. We were carried along a dark tunnel, which I assume is taking us right underneath the castle.

We kept sailing straight until we reached a kind of underground harbor. Where we climb out of the boats on to the rocks and pebbles. I start to slip but the biker looking boy caught me helping me back up. I mumble my thank you scared my voice would break this spell of beauty.

"Oy, you there! Is this your toad?" said Hagrid, who was checking the boats as people climbed out of them.

"Trevor!" cried Neville blissfully, holding out his hands. Then they clambered up a passageway in the rock after Hagrid's lamp, coming out at last onto smooth, damp grass right in the shadow of the castle. I smile happy the boy got his toad.

We walked up a flight of stone steps and crowded around the huge, Oak front door. "Everyone here? You there, still got yer toad?" And with that Hagrid raised a gigantic fist and knocked three times on the castle door. I saw there are engravings into the door but when I reach out, to Hagrid's amusement it was smooth.

I smile slightly. Fairies are sure tricky little things. My blessing made me one of them in a way. I don't understand it really. The Fairy Queen gave me part of her magic when she blessed me.

I wonder if I will see any while I am here. I mean we are in a magic area with lots of woods. It makes sense that fairies are here along with Nymphs and Centaurs. I wonder what else they have here and if I will be able to interact with them one on one.
