Well, things are really kicking up a notch in life...but I have some unfortunate news...
There are sites which are mirroring fan fiction . net (remove the spaces).
They have stolen our profiles AND our stories, are making money through advertisements AND are infecting our computers, including iOS, with tracking cookies and spyware!
This spyware, while a low-level threat, will stick around even after it is removed from your computer system. It will steal usernames and passwords, and if you buy online, it will steal your real name, address and credit card number.
Please, if you stumble across one of these sites, report it then run a virus scan on your computer! We don't want anyone hurt by this.
Here are some sites that I have either been aware of, or found by searching (just get rid of the spaces):
thebuystock . org
talkfictions . com
thefanfiction . com
ourhealthtogether . com
ourhealthstory . net
fan-fictions . org
fictionavenue . org
thanfiction . org
hmofiction . org
Theft of this magnitude, literally millions of stories, should not go unpunished.
DO NOT TRY TO LOG INTO ANY SITE THAT LOOKS LIKE FFNET BUT IS NOT. THEY COULD STEAL OUR USERNAMES, EMAILS AND PASSWORDS!
...
HOW TO REPORT
1. Go to google webmasters /tools /spamreportform ?hl=en (without spaces)
2. Put in the name of the report each (one report per site)
3. In additional details, put: This is a spamdexing mirror site to fanfiction . net (no spaces) and has stolen my profile and intellectual property.
4. Click "I am not a robot" and then "Report webspam"
Writers and readers should report these websites that profit off our hard work stop plagiarism and art theft! I looked into several of these websites, and my stories are there.
I am so sorry for crushing all your hopes and dreams of me updating my stories, but I am afraid of my works being stolen anymore than they already have. Hopefully all of this will be over soon and we can all go back to writing and reading fanfics without them being stolen.
