Chapter Seven

Firepaw looked around nervously. Where ever that ShadowClan cat was, it was probably sneaking up on him right now…he felt grass tickle his leg and jumped a mile.

"Stupid grass…"

He turned to head back to camp and was faced with a dark gray cat glaring at him.

"Holy crap," he yelped. "Who are you?"

"Yellowfang," the cat hissed, baring its teeth.

"You're from ShadowClan and I don't like it. Also you smell like a garbage dump rolled in a sewer. Get that checked out," Firepaw snapped. "Now I don't want to fight you, but-hey!" He ducked as Yellowfang sprang after him. "I'm not fighting you."

"What kind of ThunderClan warrior are you? You're not going to fight back," she snarled.

"First of all, I'm an apprentice. Second of all, violence is not always the answer.

"Freakin' noob."

"Hey, I resent that sentiment." Firepaw looked critically at the cat. "You look starved. I'm going to hunt for you!"

"Dude, that totally goes against the warrior code. You're gonna get in so much trouble if you get caught."

Firepaw snorted. "I'm not going to get caught.

"HA! CAUGHT RED HANDED." Bluestar, Tigerclaw and Graypaw appeared from the bushes. Tigerclaw looked pleased to see Firepaw caught in such a heinous act.

"Firepaw, what are you doing? What did we tell you about talking to strangers? Stop it," Bluestar scolded. "Oh, hi Yellowfang! What are you doing here?"

"Not too bad," Yellowfang meowed. "Get this. This fool over here wanted to try and hunt for me!"

"Wow, doesn't he know that's against the warrior code? Firepaw! You're in trouble starting right now. You're gonna take care of Yellowfang because you want to be all helpful and whatnot. No more training until I say so," Bluestar barked.

"Cats don't bark," Tigerclaw murmured.

"SHUT UP TIGERCLAW."

Firepaw looked between the three older cats in disbelief. This was totally unfair. He hadn't even broken the code yet. He was only considering it. This is why he had trust issues.

"Hey, at least you aren't exiled," Graypaw meowed reassuringly. "Then you'd NEVER get to redeem yourself!"
