Main characters may seem a little oc.

The concept was simple. It was the most primitive aspect of human nature. One would think that he being a man of his status, would be able to grasp the concept and yet he felt unable to fully understand. He was an ABUN captain, a man of great strength and extraordinary ability to become detached and emotionless. The captain was not an emotional creature. He always found it much more favorable to express his emotions through actions; he found words far too manipulative.

Never, in the years since his rehabilitation had he found the urge to take another human's life so profound. It was an amplified feeling of massive proportion. Many in the room had not noticed his tense muscles, the way his hands gripped tightly onto the steel handles of the chair, or how his eyes glared murderously. The blonde haired man next to him took note of his abnormal behavior. Shifting in his chair, he leaned towards the enraged man, a smirk present on his face. "Green suits you well," he whispered to the captain.

In any other situation that captain would have barked rude comments at the man, but this moment was far too different. The rare occurrence was amusing to the spectators.

Jealousy, a concept Sasuke Uchiha was not familiar with. To say that he had never been envious would be a falsified statement. In the time since his feelings for the ex-Hyuga had developed, his proclamation, and marriage, there had one brief but amusing, to the onlookers, of course, the time the ANBU captain had found himself jealous.

The phenomena occurred after he proclaimed his love for the pale-eyed beauty. The love-struck man discovered, he was not pleased with the way her teammate, Kiba, stayed in an uncalled for close proximity to Hinata. He was vigilant of the tracker. He noticed how the man found excuses to call a blush upon the introverted woman, or the way he went out of his way to make her laugh.

For days, he was in an infuriated state of mine. Every time, his onyx eyes noticed Kiba the impulsive need to murder the man, washed over him. His jealous had surpassed to the point of no return when he saw the dog breeder, embrace his then girlfriend in a hug. Sasuke decided from then forth on, that he would make it known that Hinata Hyuga was his, something he did not intend to share. On that day, Sasuke Uchiha had done something, out of character. In the middle of the town square, Sasuke pulled Hinata out of Kiba's embrace and kissed her with a growl.

From then forth on, Sasuke wore a smirk around the tracker because he had won in the most primitive of all battles.

Being a green eyed beast was out of character for him. He was a rational man and far too self-absorbed to be envious of other men. Yet for the second time, in his entire life, Sasuke was enraged blinded with jealousy.

The scene before him caused his blood to boil, his mind red with anger, and the need for murder. His wife stood a few feet away. She wore a modest, yet fitting red dress. Her shoulder length hair pulled to the side revealing the sensitive skin on her neck. She looked ravishing, he wanted nothing more than to violent her in the most animalistic, most primitive way he could. He watched the thirty-something- man engaged in a conversation with his wife a slight blush to creep onto her face as the man said something. He smiled at her, and she smiled back. Lacing her arm into his arm, he escorted Hinata across the room, towards the bar. The pair did not take notice towards the daggers the ANBU captain was throwing at them.

Sasuke felt slightly suffocated, his formal attire seemed too tight. The ones cool room seemed to become hot, causing the air to become humid and his breathing to became slightly heavy and labored. The conversations around their table didn't seem to matter. The sound of the music and laughter all seemed to be zoned out. There was nothing in the room to him, other than his wife and the Kage that was openly flirting with his wife.

Averting his eyes away from the pair, he stared at the drink in front of him. "Sasuke," Naruto called out to him. Standing abruptly, Sasuke swiftly moved towards the pair. His eyes did not dare to depart of the duo, instead, they studied their body language. He did not miss, how close they stood, how the man's arm slightly brushed against the woman's elbow.

Standing a foot behind the pair, he noticed how the dark skinned man whispered something to her, causing her cheeks to turn rosy pink and an angelic laugh to escape her lips. She lightly punched his arm.

The man smiled at her. Sasuke did not fail to notice, the man's eyes lingered far too long on her. Since the meeting of the five great nations, Hinata was given the protective detail of the Raikage. He had noticed how the Kage had taken a liking to his wife. The man found every possible excuse to compliment her or to make her laugh. It boiled Sasuke's blood, to know that another man could make his wife blush. That was his right after all.

Feeling as if his territory was under threat, he moved in front of the duo. The pale-eyed woman looked at him and smiled. "Raikage, this is my husband," Hinata said.

The gray-haired man smiled at the pair. "Please, Hinata call me Omoi." Sasuke fought the urge to kill the man. "Excuse us," Sasuke said pulling his wife away.

"Sasuke," Hinata questioned. Ignoring her, he made their way out of the hall and into the garden. Stopping he took a deep breath. "Sasuke that was rude. Why did you drag me out of there all the sudden? What's you pro-," she stopped as he turned to face her. His eyes bore into her in a manner, which she had yet to experience.

His dark eyes was filled with rage. His hands gripped her arms in a rough manner, pulling her closer to him and kissed her violently. Pulling away, he looked down at her. His grip on her arm did not loosen. She hissed at his brutality. Noticing this, he loosened his grip on her. "What were you doing in there," he yelled at her. Taken back by this, Hinata stared at her husband in awe. Never had he spoken to her in such a harsh manner. "I saw you in there laughing and smiling at him." Frowning Hinata felt anger at such an accusation. "Sasuke you over reacting I was having a conversation with Omoi. "

Sasuke looked into her eyes. He moved closer to her, causing her to step back. Pulling her closer to him, he frowned down at her. His lips slightly brushed against her ear. "You are mine," he whispered in a husky voice. Shivers ran down her back, at the sound of his deadly voice. It was harsh, violent and yet she found it pleasant.

Her eyebrows scrunched together. In the years since she knew him, he had never been so aggressive, so dominant, so animalistic. It was somewhat refreshing to know her husband possessed the ability to be envious. "Are you jealous?"

The captain did not answer. "I did not appreciate the way that man was devouring you with his eyes."

Hinata could not help but grin at her new found discovery. Noticing her amused face, Sasuke felt provoked. "I mean it. I wanted nothing more than to have you there. God," he stopped placing a kiss on her neck. "You look beautiful," he whispered against her neck. "I don't ever want you to wear this dress."

She smiled to herself. Wrapping her arms around him, she kissed him. "I love you," she whispered. He sighed, finding himself melting into her embrace. "My job is to protect that man. He leaves tomorrow." Pulling away, she looked up at him. "It's cute when you get jealous."

"I am not jealous." Hinata laughed. "You are most certainly jealous. It's good to know you get jealous. I rarely see this side of you," she smiled at him.

His face softened and body relaxed. "I love you." She nodded and embraced him on more time.

Pulling away, Hinata stared at him for a few seconds. In the past few months, she had rarely spent time with her husband. The case files kept piling up, more Intel and mission were assigned. There was another attack on the village hidden in the sand. The second attack in two months caused the Kages to pressure the Intel department for answers.

The public seemed to become restless, they began to question the people in power, and the lords started to question the money being given to the hidden villages.

The workload began to increase and with that Hinata had no time for her personal life. She missed Sasuke dearly. He was never home. His squad was on missions or on constant standby. It was difficult to maintain a relationship in their field of work.

"I miss you," she said finally. He tightened his embrace. Sasuke placed a kiss on her head. It felt good to hold her.

Hours later they found themselves in their apartment. Clothes were thrown onto the ground creating a trail to their bedroom. Hinata laid her head onto of Sasuke's bare chest. His arm snaked around her waist. Hinata placed sweet kisses on his chest. Her fingers drew circles on his arm. He rubbed his thumb on her arm. It was a rare moment.

Everything around them disappeared and for a few moments, it was just Sasuke and Hinata. Not titles, no responsibilities just two lovers.

"Can we lay like this ever?" Sasuke looked down at his wife. He took in how her cheeks were flushed, her hair spread across her sticking to her skin. She looked like a goddess. He wished he could hold her like that forever. When she was away, he worried. He knew she was a strong shinobi. She was well equipped to handle herself, but he knew the evils of the world. When she was in his arms, she was safe. He knew he could protect her. Kissing her head, he allowed sleep to consume him.

..

"Do you understand what I am asking you," Naruto said. A long pause filled the room. Sasuke shifted slightly on his feet. It was a complicated question. Did he understand what was being asked of him?

He understood, that he was a shinobi before anything. His duty was to protect, and sometimes this leads him to commit crimes against humanity. These were things, every trained soldier was aware of.

Sasuke did not attempt to speak. His mind was clouded and the feeling of dread began to form in his stomach. His eyes left the form of the Hokage and traveled to the window. He could clearly see children running around the town square.

For a few more seconds he took in their laughter and smiles. It was a peaceful sight. Reluctantly, he gazed back at Naruto. "Yes."

A frigid silence filled the room. The men did not attempt to make eye contact. Picking up the file of his desk, Naruto handed it towards Sasuke. Looking through the file, Sasuke sighed. "There is no mission report. This mission will not be recorded."

Sasuke nodded. The air in the room was far too heavy. It was slowly suffocating both men. It was tension and the unsaid words.

Sasuke walked out the room clutching the file. The feeling of suffocation did not disappear. Looking at the vanilla folder he realized, the mission was a necessary evil.

….

"Hinata Uchiha. 25. Married to Sasuke Uchiha, Made chunin at 14, Jounion at 17. Became ANBU at 18 and took official leave from ANBU at 22 to join the Intel department. In her time there she apprehended three men from the Bingo book Goro, Kazuhiko, and Sadaq as well as Akifumi," Mizukage said.

"During her time in Intel she lost twenty shinobi, failed four missions, could not intersect information on the attack on Konoha, and most importantly she allowed Akifumi to be killed while under her care," spoke the Tsuchikage.

Naruto rubbed his temples ones again, "Under the circumstances of each event in question, she handled the situation the best she could," Naruto barked out.

"She is an excellent choice," Omoi said. "Of course, your opinion of her is so high. You want to jump her bones," the Tsuchikage retorted. The room seemed to become stiff with tension. "Look-," Omoi was cut off.

"I think we have come to an agreement," Kazekage said.

"Yes."

Naruto nodded handing the file over to Nara. The room began to become empty. The Kages bid their goodbyes. Naruto leaned in his chair and stared out the window. "Do you think I picked the right Uchiha? Do you think…you think I made the right choice?"

Shikamaru looked at the blonde. For a moment, he hesitated. His mind was putting the information together. Everything was far too complicated, too much at risk. There were too many variables with not many favorable outcomes.

"I don't know," he said. Naruto sighed. Picking up the file, he prayed he made the right choice. Lives of thousands were at stake, one wrong move could destroy everything.
