The reviews mean so much. I forgot to thank you on the previous chapter so here it is. Anyway, we find out whom Eva's dad is in this chapter. Whoot-whoot. Any questions in the reviews will be answered from now on.
Eva's POV
It was beautiful. Being among the clouds like this was exhilarating. And the way America looked from up here made up for how nasty it is down there.
Percy didn't seem to enjoy the flight as much as I did.
I wonder why…
Way to soon the chariot began to descend onto the most beautiful place I have ever seen. The hills were a rich green and all the Greek styled buildings shone like diamonds nestled into the earth. Butch set the chariot down by what looked to be a volleyball court.
"I'm going back to the stables."
"Thank you Butch." Annabeth said.
Butch just grunted. After a few moments of silence I speak up.
"Well he's friendly…"
"I personally choose to believe that he is just really tired all the time." Percy quipped.
"Anyway… Piper and Percy will show you to Chiron. I need to check on something." With that Annabeth ran off.
"Okay then… off to Chiron. Piper make sure she doesn't stop walking." Percy takes off at a fast pace past the court.
Piper shakes her head and smiles at me, "We better catch up, Percy won't wait for us."
We both start walking. Not as fast as Percy but nowhere near a leisurely pace.
"Who is Chiron?"
"Oh… he's a centaur."
"Wait." I stop walking, "You don't mean the Chiron. Like the one from Ancient Greece. Do you?"
"I do. Just like the gods Chiron moved to America."
If I had juice I would have spit it out. "The gods are in America!?"
"Oh yeah. Most of them are on the 600th floor of the Empire State Building, but Dionysus is our camp director. Usually he is at the Big House, sometimes he is tending the strawberries." She said that way too nonchalantly for my taste.
"I suppose Zeus comes down for dinner and Poseidon acts as a lifeguard in the sound. I bet Aphrodite gives all the kids make-overs and Athena helps with math homework."
Piper grimaces, "Let's not mention my mom. I'm still not comfortable with it."
"Athena? She would be an awesome mom."
Piper shakes her head, "No, my mom is Aphrodite. Annabeth's mom is Athena."
"Does not compute."
Piper laughs, "What?"
"Sorry inside joke. Who are Percy and Jason's parents?"
"Percy is the son of Poseidon and Jason is Roman so his dad is Jupiter."
"That's weird. I guessed way too accurately about the gods in my joke."
Piper narrows her eyes, "Yeah, that is weird."
We were quiet for the rest of the walk to the "Big House". We arrived a few minutes later. Percy was already talking to a guy in a wheelchair gesturing towards Piper and I. It was easy to assume that he had already told wheelchair guy about me.
Wheelchair guy smiles at me and says, "Welcome, Eva, to Camp Half-Blood."
I was right.
"Thank you, may I inquire towards your name?"
He gives me a kindly smile, "My name is Chiron child."
"Wait, Piper said you were a centaur."
"I am. My horse part is folded into this wheelchair. This way I can interact with mortals. Of course it also helps to lessen the shock to new campers."
"Oh that makes sense I guess…"
"You'll get used to it." Piper whispers.
"Because you have not been claimed yet you will stay in the Hermes cabin and-."
I cut him off because I really had to pee.
"Okay then should I head over there now?" Suddenly a brown light washes across the porch.
"What in hell is going on?!" I exclaim.
Chiron smiles and says, "All hail Eva Parker, daughter of Hermes god of thieves, travelers, and merchants. Messenger of the gods."
"I've been claimed haven't I?"
"Yeah, Hermes is pretty cool. He doesn't like Annabeth much though. But that's a different story altogether." Percy says.
A warm yellow light spreads out from above my head. It's not as strong as the brown, but it's definitely there. "What does that mean Chiron?" I ask nervously.
"It means that you have been blessed by Apollo god of the sun, poetry, music, and many others."
Percy turns to Chiron, "Does this happen often?"
"No, people are more commonly blessed by Aphrodite or Athena. Hardly ever Apollo. Tell me child, have you ever been in a position where you have needed warmth more than anything else. A position where your goodness has kept you alive?"
"Yes, and no I will not elaborate on that."
"Very well. Percy find Travis and Connor bring them here. They will show Eva around." Then he turns to me, "Even though you have been blessed by Apollo you are still a daughter of Hermes, therefore you will stay in his cabin for however long you chose to stay at camp."
"Okay. Um, quick question, Hermes is the god of thieves, right? Should I be worried or something?"
"Yes, you should keep your possessions close to you. Otherwise you may find them gone." And with that Chiron wheels into the house, leaving Piper and I on the porch.
Travis's POV
To say I was excited about this new sister would be an understatement. Percy told me about the battle on the way to the Big House and she seems like a cool new addition to have.
Ever since Luke we have had to be really careful about how we act. The campers are always looking at our cabin making sure nobody goes sour. To say the least it's been hard. Connor and I had to keep being the happy pranksters even when we don't feel like it. Don't get me wrong; I love pranking. But it's hard to do all the time. I'm hoping Eva can help turn our image around. Bring us back to our former glory, that kind of stuff. As we near the porch I look up. Piper and the girl who must be Eva are sitting on the steps talking.
"Hey man, I'm gonna go find Annabeth. See you later." Percy sprints off towards the Athena cabin.
I redirect my attention back to Eva. She is probably about 5'7 and has long brown hair that is falling out of a braid. I can't see her eyes from here, but I bet they are brown. She is mildly tan and has a small amount of freckles on her nose.
Now that I'm closer it's obvious that Eva has brown eyes. Overall she is attractive but nowhere near Katie, Annabeth, or Piper.
Eva is average I guess you could say.
"Sup Eva. I'm your brother Travis."
She looks up and smiles, "Hi Travis, you aren't really good at any instrument are you?"
"No?" I say confused.
She brightens at this news; "I like you better than my sister already. I can't wait to see the cabin."
"I can show you the rest of the camp also if you want." I offer.
"Thanks Travis, I'll see you around Piper." Piper waves and Eva stands up to meet me.
"Shall we go milady."
"Such a gentleman."
She takes my arm and I lead her towards the cabin pointing out things of interest along the way. Eva seems to like the horse stables and the basketball courts the best.
Eventually we reach the cabin, I already know it was the least impressive cabin of them all and I am expecting Eva's reaction to be less than enthusiastic. I brace myself for her disappointment.
"Oh Travis, it's perfect!"
What now?
"My parents are entrepreneur's you see. I'm used to huge houses and mansions; I hate it. This is more my style."
"I guess you are more like dad than I originally thought."
"Have you met him?"
"I fought next to him in the Second Giant War."
"Huh?" I laugh at her confused face.
"There is so much you have to learn. Luckily you are in the right cabin, it is widely believed that the Aphrodite's are the biggest gossips. That is wrong. We know of everything that happens at this camp. We have hidden cameras all around and we even have some in the Big House. Dionysus doesn't even know."
A devilish smile spreads across Eva's face, "I guess I have a lot to learn, we better get started."
Ta-da! Daughter of Hermes, what did you guys think she was? Tell me in a review! Hope you like this chapter (I thought it was okay, I'm not a huge fan of filler chapters and this kinda felt like one. Oh well). Next time the plot starts to unfold so yeah…
BE READY!
Peace Out, orangeowl13
