Sorry guys! I had a case of writers block and a lot of homework, but I'm back now. All I had to do was draw your guys OC's and POOF no more writers block. Okay so guess what? I got a soli in my choir concert this Sunday! I'm so excited and nervous 'cause I have stage fright and I'm worried I'll pass out or something. Whatever, there is no backing out now.
Disclaimer: I don't own PJO or HOO or your guys OC's.
On with the story!
Nico's POV
I wake and wipe the sleep from my eyes. When I open my eyes I nearly scream because someone was hovering over me and staring at my face intently.
The figure, which I now identify as female, spoke, "You're Nico right? There are lots of weird stories about you here. Stuff about the Second Titan War and a casino, I mean seriously what kind of a casino let's kids in it? Or is that common? I really don't know. Anyway… I was wondering if I'd ever meet you face-to-face, and now I have. Am I too close to you? I'm not very good with people."
"YES, PLEASE BACK AWAY FROM ME! WHO IN HADES'S NAME ARE YOU AND WHY ARE YOU IN MY CABIN!?" I scream at her, right in her face since it's so close to mine. Nobody entered my cabin. Nobody except Hazel.
The girl backed up but she didn't seem scared, more annoyed than anything.
"What has your panties in a twist? I was just trying to be polite."
Now that she was farther away from me I was able to see her properly. This girl had thick black hair that hung to her waist and amber colored eyes that were furrowed in annoyance. She is thin, it's as if she only eats one meal a day and her height is about 5'5. A blue knit beanie is sitting on her head and she has a red shirt that says "Fire Girl". I sincerely hope she isn't another Leo; one was enough.
"What has my panties in a twist? I'll tell you what has my panties in a twist. The fact that a random Hephaestus girl has waltzed into MY CABIN!" I say seething in annoyance.
"Hephaestus? What god is he again? Never mind, I don't care," she replies. "I just wanted to meet the famous Nico di Angelo, but he seems to be a meanie. I've met enough of them in my day…" A blank stare crossed her face, like she was thinking of something that I couldn't read well. I dismissed it as my imagination.
"You said you were being polite? What part of being polite is barging into someone's living space and INVADING THEIR PRIVACY?"
The girl didn't seem to hear me; she just stalked around the room, opening cabinets and eyeing her surroundings, "Where is all of your stuff?"
I sigh in frustration and finally give in to her persistence. "Listen, I don't care who you are, just get out of my cabin before I strangle you."
"Ouch man, that hurt. That's no way to talk to your older half-sister."
WHAT DID SHE JUST SAY? "Excuse me. Half-sister? Care to explain? And by the way, I highly doubt that you are older." My voice is low and dangerous but she doesn't seem to notice, or care.
The girl rolls her eyes. "I'm guessing this doesn't happen often, I was told to come to Camp Half-Blood by a friend I met after I—." She cut herself of, and then continued. "Never mind, all you need to know is that I was claimed by Hades when I stepped foot into this camp. Also, we have a roommate, son of Thantos. Sword fighting with the Hermes cabin is in ten minutes so I suggest you get ready."
She turned on her heel and marched out the room, poking her head back in to speak once more. "My names Nadalia Knight, by the way, and next time I see you, you better have your Mythomagic deck out so we can play. I want to see if I can beat the 'supposedly-best-player' in camp. I'm kind of a fan myself."
Nadalia's head disappeared again and this time she didn't come back.
Eva's POV
Great, I've already made a name for myself at this camp. The only reason I survived high school is because I went unnoticed, but here everyone notices me. Wherever I go people look at me or clap me on the back. It's a little disturbing.
Anyway, breakfast was over and I was following Travis and Connor to the arena, my sword strapped to my side. I had never used a sword before and it was pretty likely that after today I would never be allowed to use it again. My sphere of knowledge was with hand-to-hand combat, not fricking weapons. I could, and probably would, take someone's arm off. Mostly likely my own.
As we grew closer to the arena my heart rate started to speed up and my palms felt sweaty. What if what Dream-Katie was talking about happened today, what if the sword was evil and I try to kill everyone, what if it was like Lord of the Rings and I turn into a Golem thing. What if…
I was about ready to pass out by the time we reach the arena. Time feels like it's moving in slow motion as I walk down the stairs towards the middle and the beefy instructor standing at the center.
"New girl you're up. Get over here, let's see what you can do." the instructor calls. My sword nearly falls out of my hand I'm so surprised. I probably should have expected it, since I'm the new kid and all. I walk slowly to where the dude I'm supposed to brawl against is waiting. Before I even have time to prepare, the instructor commences the fight, and my opponent brings his sword down in an arc. My instincts take over, I raise my sword to meet his and the power in his blow sends me flying backwards. He has an ugly smirk on his face and all I want to do is wipe it off. Of course he's a kid from the Ares Cabin, which makes it all the worse for me. This guy was 6'5 easy and had muscles the size of volleyballs.
He comes at me again, but this time I use my martial arts training to… skillfully dodge him. Hey, don't judge. No way was I going to fight him with a weapon I had never used before, and besides, for my small stature swords really weren't the best weapon choice. Swords were heavy. I really wish I had a gun or something, that way he couldn't get close to me.
Before I know what's happening, a light coming from my sword nearly blinds me. It starts begins to melt as bright orange and blue flames warmed it, yet it doesn't burn me. While everyone watching from the stand watches me in awe, I just smile. I see what no one else can see—my sword has turned into a gun. Exactly what I had wished for. I look up with an/ evil grin on my face and point the gun at his chest.
"Drop… your… sword." I say, still gasping from the fight I had put up before.
He obeys with difficulty and lets his sword drop to the arena floor. I could tell that he wanted nothing more than to charge at me anyway, even if he knew before he would get near me he'd be dead. I guess that's what honor is to people in the Ares Cabin. Smiling victoriously I speak, "I believe that means I win."
Everyone is still gawking at me, mouths gaped wide open, and at my sword/gun in amazement. The Hermes cabin was still silent; this must be some kind of record or something.
Then I hear a voice from the top of the arena, "The sword, it's that sword. Eva your sword is the key!"
I look up to see the kid I met the night before with a girl wearing a blue beanie. The boy was staring at me in terror and I get the feeling he knows something I don't—something I probably don't want to know.
Nadalia's POV
"Cool…so when can I get one of those swords?" I ask. Nico looks at me with a face that scares me. "What?" I ask, confused at his sudden change in temper. He had been slightly neutral, though with a small frown on his face, but I'd never seen him so angry…and so horrified. Of course I hadn't known him for long, but that's beside the point.
"You don't want that sword," Nico says, barely above a whisper.
"Why?" I ask, but Nico doesn't get to answer me. We are cut off by a voice in the arena making gun sounds, "pew...pew pew." It's the girl with the awesome sword in the arena, but I don't recognize her. She's the one who's making the strange noises.
"Is that girl okay, or is she somewhat mentally insane? I wouldn't trust her with a gun," I say truthfully—I never did ever learn when to keep my mouth shut. My voice was magnified through the arena and I realize that the girl in with the gun had noticed me.
"Hey, that's no way to talk to someone with a gun," she says, shaking it for emphasis. "My name is Eva Parker, and I am perfectly responsible enough to hold a gun." Her hand slips on the trigger and she accidently shoots it through the stands, nearly clipping a passing satyr on the hoof. "Sorry," she yells, as she makes her way up towards me on the stands.
"I would say otherwise," I reply. "My name is Nadalia Knight. Want to be best friends?"
Eva crosses her arms and raises an eyebrow. "Huh?"
"Yeah, I heard that friends fight a lot, so I was wondering if you wanted to be my friend." She is still staring at me weirdly. "Sorry, that's no way to start a conversation. You see…I don't have many friends…"
"Fine, were friends," Eva states. Although I'm almost positive she was just trying to shut me up.
I feel Nico disappear behind me, and I knew I'd have to finish my conversation with him later. He seemed to be hiding something, but then I remembered that I hid things myself. I didn't want anyone to know where I came from…or who told me about Camp Half-Blood. The thing was, I didn't know the person who told me of here as well as I thought. "So what do friends do?"
"Well, you did say they fight, right?" A small smile creeps to the corner of Eva's face. "I challenge you to a duel, weapon of choice."
I grin. "This might be a little more fun than I expected, you are using your sword, I assume."
Eva nods. "I can't wait to see what else this sword can do."
Euthymius's POV
I was late. Again. I didn't mean to but I hated training with campers so I stay late in the woods and practice the techniques that my father taught me. It's hard to fight with a tree, so I go to sword training with the Hades cabin. However, I'm usually late; today is a prime example.
I break out of the woods and slam into someone; we both go down. Mentally, I'm berating myself; I really should be more careful and less clumsy. However, physically I'm helping the girl I knocked over up.
"I don't need your help." She snarls tearing her arm out of my grasp, "And watch were you're going next time." The girl has bright blue eyes and curly hair that reaches mid back. She would be cute if her face wasn't scrunched up in anger, now she kind of looks like a ferret.
"I'm sorry for bumping into you, I'll be more careful next time." I say to her before turning away. I didn't want to be late because I got into a fight with a ferret.
"I'm not done with you! Get over here and fight me! Don't you walk away…"
I just kept walking leaving her to scream insults at my back. I pick up my pace as I get closer to the arena, yet I don't hear the normal sounds of battle coming from the arena, it sounds like only one fight is taking place.
Peeking into the arena, I confirm what I already knew. Two girls are battling; one of them is my roommate Nadalia Knight. The other is the new girl, the one who saved Leo's life.
As they fight Eva's weapon changes before my eyes, going from a saber to a longsword. My breath gets caught in my throat. I knew that sword; I had seen it destroying the world.
