I'm back! I'm not going to give you guys an excuse for why this update is late, I do that enough. Plus nobody reads these anyway lol. I'm going to stop rambling and get on with the story. By the way I didn't pass out.

Leo's POV

I'm so bored. I would rather face Gaea again than spend another moment in this infirmary.

Ever since I woke up I've felt weird, like something was missing. When I mentioned this to Will he said that I was missing blood, and a lot of it. That's why I was feeling weird. At the time I agreed with him, but now 12 hours later I'm not so sure.

Deep stuff right?

On a lighter note, I've gotten a lot of "Get Well" baskets.

Actually that's a lie, I've gotten one. And it was from Piper, who doesn't really count 'cause she's like my sister.

At the moment I'm lying in bed, bored out of my mind.

Picture this, an ADHD kid stuck in the same place for hours on end, not allowed or able to move. Sounds great right? Plus I was in a private room so there was no one to talk to.

I make a promise to myself to never get stabbed again, being injured sucks Minotaur balls.

Just then the sheets around my prison swish open and an unknown face peaks in.

"You're awake! Thank the gods." The girl says. I reply with a snort, "I've been awake since last night."

"Oh, well are you feeling okay?"

For some reason I find myself getting mad at this girl, "Besides the fact that I was stabbed in the stomach and I can't get off my butt, I feel great. Are you done with your little check-up or are you going to bother me more?" As soon as the words left my mouth I felt bad, she just wanted to make sure I was all right.

"Okay then. I'll leave if my presence pains you so much, sorry for trying to be nice and saving your life." Then she spins on her heel and starts walking away.

"Wait!" she turns to face me again and raises her eyebrow expectantly, "I'm sorry for snapping at you, I'm just a little scared." I take a breath and then add, "It's not you it's me," for some signature Leo Valdez humor at a bad time. Even I can tell it was a weak joke, and I'm Leo.

I'm rewarded by a small wry smile and a handshake, "My names Eva. I'm the one who found you in the forest and got people in to get you out."

"Well I and all of the camp appreciate your service. I mean really, can you picture Camp Half-Blood without me? The campers would be devastated."

"I'm sure." Eva snorts, "I'll see you around, but for now it's back to the camp schedule."

I don't want her to leave. Eva is the first person I've talked to in hours, and she kind of actually gets my humor. "Hey Eva? If don't mind could you stay here for a little while? I'm lonely and I have a bunch of new jokes with nobody to try them out on."

She gives a sympathetic smile and says, "Why not? Besides, it's not like you learn anything on the first day anyway."

I smile my most charming smile, "Pull up a seat, Uncle Leo is gonna tell you some jokes. This could take awhile."

Eva's POV

Sure sit down with the kid with the maniac smile, let him tell you a few jokes.

Wrong. Never do it, never.

It's five hours later and I'm still sitting here, listening to cheesy joke after cheesy joke. On the outside I'm smiling and laughing, which is probably why he is still talking, but I really just want to take a nap.

The sparring match with Nadalia wore me out, she was pretty good and the only reason I managed to keep all my limbs was because a frantic looking kid called her away.

"Hey Eva? Are you even listening any more?"

"Mmhmm…"

"And I'm secretly half unicorn. I don't have to keep telling jokes you know; I have felt first hand the dreariness of boredom. I would never wish that upon anyone." Leo says with a shiver.

"If you want the truth," he nods, "I was never listening."

"Wow, maybe I should get my eyesight checked out too."

I smile, "Your eyesight is fine, it's your intuition that needs a looking at."

"Hey, I am very proud of my feminine intuition thank you very much." Leo says mock angrily.

"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry." My voice is dripping with sarcasm.

Leo's eyes drop to my hip where my sword is hanging, "Cool sword, I've never seen it before."

"Nobody has, trust me." I mumble.

He looks confused, "What do you mean?"

"This." I take the sword off my hip and focus on a crossbow. I watch Leo as the familiar melting sensation takes over. His eyes widen as the flames of light die down and the crossbow is left in my hand.

"Holy Hera! Can I see it?"

I nod and pass it over.

"There must be magic in this, it's impossible for mechanic's to do that." He says turning it over in his hands, "It's like a more advanced version of Percy's sword. But the question is, how is this even possible?" Leo finishes examining my sword and passes it back. Then he frowns.

"What?" I ask.

"It's just that, I got really excited and there was no fire. That has never happened before." Leo finishes, still frowning.

"Fire? Excuse me but what do you mean?"

"You're new aren't you?"

"Yeah. So what?"

Leo's maniac smile makes a reappearance, "Watch and behold child of camp as you witness the greatest power of them all! Some say air is the most powerful, some say water, or even earth. I say, FIRE!" Then he holds his hands out in front of him, nothing happens.

"You are so powerful." I say sarcastically.

But Leo doesn't look amused; he looks terrified.

"It's gone." He says staring at me with hollow eyes, "My fire is gone."

Thanks for reading the next update will be a lot faster! Sorry to those who I promised that their OC's would be in this chapter, but I need to get the plot going. They will definitely appear next time.
