Bet you thought I was gonna take another extremely long hiatus. Pffttt…. Nah.
Leo POV
It turns out that Camp Half-Blood is definitely not made for wheelchairs, I have a new respect for Chiron, that dude must be ripped.
I breathe a sigh of relief as I crest the top of the small incline I was battling, and then moan when I see how far away I am from the Hephaestus cabin. This is not working. As a last resort I begin to see who is around and that could help me.
At this time of day most people are in classes or in the woods, so I can't see anyone. Apparently, the gods hate me.
"I guess the Bad Boy Supreme is going to have to handle this all by himself." With a dejected sigh I place my hands back on the wheels and push myself forward, but instead of rolling down the incline I start to move backwards, "No! Holy Hephaestus." I feel myself tipping and prepare my body for an impact that never comes. I turn around and see Nico gripping my chair.
"I have never been so glad to see you in my life." I tell the skeletal demigod.
"Don't thank me, thank her." Nico jerks a thumb over his shoulder and I find myself looking at a girl with long dark hair and amber eyes.
"He wanted to see what would happen." She shrugs and then waves, "I'm Nadalia by the way." And without another word she turns on her heel and walks away.
Confused, I turn to Nico, "She's more socially impaired than I am." He says with a shrug, "So, you headed for…"
I cut him off, "The awesomest cabin in camp? Why yes I am."
For a moment we don't move, "Come on Nico, let's go! To Cabin Ten."
I can practically feel Nico rolling his eyes, but he does what I've asked and we make it to Cabin Ten only a few minutes of awkward silence later.
"I'm gonna go." Nico turns away, much like Nadalia had, and sets course for the Hades Cabin.
"Wait man. Ahhh… thanks. Would've taken me a Hades of a lot longer without you."
Nico brushes off the compliment, "Don't thank me, I wanted to see you fall." He gives me a smirk and doesn't look back.
"Softie." I roll my eyes and enter the cabin.
Annabeth POV
I barge into the Hermes cabin without knocking and find Travis in the middle of a nap. I roll my eyes and blow my hair out of my face; then, with hands on hips, I march over to Travis and pull him off the bed.
He lands on the hard wood, uttering a myriad of curses.
Most seem to be directed at me, "Travis I need your help."
"Great way to ask, pull a guy out of bed won't you?" He scowls, but upon seeing my expression he furrows his brows.
"What's up Annie?"
"Don't call me that." Shoving the cell phone into his hand I tell him, "I need to get into this phone, collaborate with the Hephaestus campers if you must, but I need it unlocked."
Travis looks at the phone, then at me, then at the phone, then at me again. I know I'm in trouble when a smirk etches itself onto his face, "I'll do it, but only if you let me call you Annie."
I grab his shirt and glare, "Or…"
He puts his hands up, "Or I'll do it for free." I let him go, "Thank you Travis, this phone could tell us who stabbed Leo." A serious look comes over his face, "Shoulda lead with that."
I let out a snort of laughter, and cross my arms over my chest, "Maybe I should of," I break off and look around, "Well I'll leave you to it." Before he can say anything else, I book it out of that cabin. Ever since Luke it's been hard for me to be in there, too many memories of him comforting me about Thalia.
Gods, I wrap my jacket tighter around me, once again glad for the magic weather barrier around camp.
With a scowl on my face I kick a loose piece of rock and think about everything that has happened. Not that I would tell anyone, but I was worried.
Worried about Leo.
About the weapon that took Leo's powers.
About that fact that something is brewing and I'm involved in it again.
About my friends and how many will survive this latest battle.
About everything.
I just want everything to be okay again; but then I snort, since when have things 'been okay' at Camp? It wouldn't be camp without strife and death, I remind myself.
And I still think of this place as a home.
Percy POV
Eva, Callie, and I barge into the Big House like Furies fresh out of Tartarus, "Chiron! Chiron!" Callie calls into the… big… house. A quiet response finds it's way back, "No need to yell Callie. I can hear quite well."
Chiron turns the corner in wheelchair form, a soft smile on his face, "Now what is it child?" Before anyone can say anything Eva blurts out, "Callie saw a half-human half-empousai in the woods."
Everything is silent for a moment, but then Callie snorts, "What in Hades Eva? I wanted to tell him." Eva blushes and seems to fold in on herself. But Chiron still hasn't said a word; he just sits there, silently.
"Chiron, what do you think?" I ask, much more worried than Callie or Eva.
He heaves a great sigh and then speaks, "I have not seen this in a long time, but I have seen it. This is an indicator of horrid things to come, a rising of one of the most feared beasts known to gods and man."
I'm afraid to ask the question, but Callie and Eva are both looking to me. So I gather myself and speak the dreaded words, "What wants to kill us this time?"
Chiron doesn't answer for many minutes, just looks off into the distance. When he finally opens his mouth he sounds tired, "You must not tell anyone, for I could be wrong, especially if this is an isolated incident. But it sounds to me… like Chaos is attempting to rise once again."
Eva POV
Well fuck.
Dun-Dun-Duhhhhhh…
How many people saw that coming?
Peace Out,
