Previously: "We should probably start sleeping aswell." She whispered yawning too.
"Okay." I said turning onto my side, facing her.
"Good night Jace." She barely whispered.
"Good night Clary." I answered as quietly.
I was almost asleep when I felt a warm tiny hand linking our fingers. I smiled a bit before I fell asleep, feeling her warm hand in mine.
Clary POV
"Clary, it's time to wake up." I heard a voice saying. Wincing I bolted up banging my head into someone's forehead.
"Ow, Clary!" I recognized Jace's voice and saw him rubbing him head.
"I'm sorry." I whispered noticing the girls were still sleeping. "What time is it?"
"It's okay, shouldn't have been that close to you. Umm it's a little over four." He whispered yawning.
"In the morning?"
"Yep." He said popping the 'p'. "Are you feeling better?" He asked as I fought to keep my eyes open.
"Yeah, my throat is killing me though and as you can hear I have blocked nose." God my voice was horrible. It was hoarse and cracked all the time. Great. At the end of the day my voice would be gone, I knew it.
Jace nodded smirking "I find it very sexy."
Oh so now we're flirting. I turned around to hide my flaming cheeks and a smile that crept onto my lips.
"I need to take a shower." I said more to myself than to anyone else.
"And why is that?" Jace whispered right into my ear, making me jump.
"I feel dirty." I said before realizing how dirty that sounded. "No, not in that way. Jace, no. Don't you dare to say anything."
"Oh I wasn't going to. Come on, I'll give you a fresh towel." Before I could say anything Jace yanked me up and up the stairs. He pulled me into his now empty master bedroom and to the joined bathroom. It was much bigger than the one I shared with his daughters.
"I'm sure I'll find the towel on my ow-" I couldn't finish the sentence before Jace pushed me against the wall, his mouth hard on mine. He caught me by surprise and after a while I melted again in his arms and kissed him back.
But then I pulled away and leaned my head against the hard tile wall. He pressed his forehead down against mine and I could feel his breathing on my cheek.
"What are we doing?" I whispered, closing my eyes.
"I don't know. I- I.. I really don't know." Jace whispered as well. "But I know I can't keep my hands off of you. Everything about you makes me want you. A lot."
"Jace. I'm your daughter's nanny!" I said. "You can't want me. Not that I don't want you too. I do. A lot. What would the girls think if you'd be banging their nanny?"
"Lexi, Val and Jen adore you. Okay, Valerie adores you but Lexi and Jen do like you." He whispered against my cheek where his lips were.
"Yeah but that doesn't mean they'll just like that accept me being with you." I said pushing Jace's face back gently and looked him in the eyes. They were the most unique eyes I had ever seen; around the black pupil they were lighter golden and nearing the edges they darkened. He was staring right back at me, probably purposely making his eyes flame and my knees weak. I felt like he could say anything and I'd willingly do that.
"Please. Just one date. One proper date. Without the girls. Just you and I, please." He pleaded and if his voice had had a color, it would have been gold. His voice was smooth and hard to resist.
"Okay." I heard myself saying before I could stop.
Jace grinned down at me and cupped my cheeks before kissing my lips softly. "I knew you'd say yes." He breathed against my cheeks and winked before touching lightly my lip with his finger and going out.
"There should still be a few towels in the cabinet under the sink!" He yelled from the hallway before going to wake his daughters up.
"Oh god." I whispered and sank down on the floor. "What the hell just happened? Again?" I asked outloud. Groaning I stood up and looked for the towel. My bones still ached and I knew I had still fever but it wasn't unbearable like the day before. I took out a white fluffy towel from the cabinet and something fell out with it. I kneeled on the floor to put it back and blushed at what I saw. It was a small silver package. A condom. With flaming cheeks I lifted it up and put it back. Yes, I blushed at a condom, very mature.
I quickly undressed and slipped in under the shower letting the hot water pour over me, soaking my massive cloud of red hair. I looked for a shampoo in the shower but of course Jace had packed it along rest of the bottles.
"JACE! Can you bring me shampoo and conditioner?!" I yelled as hard as I could with a sore throat. Ouch. Soon I heard him knocking behind the door. I grabbed my towel and wrapped it tightly around my wet body before opening the door.
"I didn't felt right digging through your suitcase so I took my shampoo and conditioner. And before you say anything, yes, I do use conditioner. Look at this beauty, it needs someone to take care of it." He said running a hand through his hair.
"Yeah yeah, now give me the bottles already, it's getting cold." I snatched the bottles from him and shut the door. I spent the next 15 minutes under the hot water, trying to get prepared for the day. Yeah, right. First few hours of driving to the airport and then almost three hours of flying.
I turned off the shower and wrapped the towel around my body before going back downstairs where the girls were sitting side by side on the mattresses rubbing their eyes and yawning. Jace tried to get them change their clothes, without any luck.
"Hey girls. Did you sleep well?" I asked with my voice cracking at every other word. I got no proper answer, just mmhmm's.
"What's wrong with your voice?" Asked Jennifer before yawning and laying back down.
"No no no, Jen you have to get up and change your clothes!" Jace said quickly before she could fall asleep.
"I'm still a little sick." I answered her question while digging through my case to find something fresh and clean to wear. I pulled out new underwear, black skinny jeans, white strapless top and a beige cardigan with thin brown leather belt at the waist. I went into the dinig room to change so I didn't get myself into awkward situations with Jace anymore that day. After I was fully clothed I dried my red mane with the towel and left it down to prevent head ache from it being tied up too tight. When I got back to the living room, Jace had managed to dress Valerie. She had navy sweat pants, a white t-shirt and a white sweater on top of it. I took Jennifer's clothes and sat in front of her.
"Look, we need to get you changed and then we need to go soon. We don't want daddy to drive too fast, right?" I said to her and she nodded. "So be a good girl and put these on, okay?" I gave her her wine red sweatpants and a black long sleeved t-shirt. She nodded tiredly and took them from me.
Finally our things were packed and we were ready to leave. We packed the car with all the suitcases and hand baggage before trying to fit ourselves into the car. Finally we were all in; the girls in the back seat, me in the passenger seat and Jace driving. The girls said good byes to their old home and so began our trip to the first stop, the airport. Jennifer and Valerie were guessing what the new house would look like and Alexandra fell asleep as soon as we drove out of the town. Eventually Jen and Val also dozed off. Jace turned down the music a bit and glanced at me quickly.
"Is this really alright? I mean you moving with us. I'm happy that you're moving with us but you didn't have to, you know that, right?" He asked quietly not to wake his girls. I turned in my seat to look at him, leaning against the door and lifted my left foot on the seat.
"Jace. You didn't force me. I wanted to move. I've been living my whole life in New York. It's refreshing. And besides if you suddenly decided to fire me, I'd got the whole new state and city to explore!" I laughed.
"Okay good. I just wanted to make sure. And for your information; I'm not going to fire you. The girls like you a lot. I like you." He smiled. He had few wrinkles at the corners of his eyes when he nose was straight and lips were oddly full. Does he have botox in his lips..? I wouldn't actually be surprised if he had.
I just sat there and stared at him for a long time before he said "You're staring at me."
"I know." was my answer. He smiled at that and glanced at me before looking back at the road.
"How do you feel?" He asked after a comfortable silence. "Is your head still hurting?"
"No, it's fine, the meds helped. I think this will be over in few days." He nodded. Finally we arrived at the airport and Jace looked for a free parking spot.
"Okay this place is crowded. Jesus how is it possible, there's not a single free spot?!" He cursed. Eventually he managed to find a spot and called his boss. Mr. Starkweather would be taking their car and a new one would be waiting in Miami at the airport. Jace went to get a luggage cart while I tried to pull the suitcases out of the car. You can imagine 5 suitcases plus all the hand baggage and me, short girl trying to pull them out without breaking anything. Yep. Not so easy. I heard Jace laugh behind me and a bigger hand moved my hand aside and pulled out the luggage. Great. Now I just seem weak. I forced a smile onto my lips as I looked at him and went to wake up the girls with Jace laughing still at me while lifting the bags.
"Okay girls it's time to wake up. Come on now." I whispered and shook Jennifer gently. She opened her eyes and stretched, hitting her sister accidentally. Valerie woke up and hit her back, causing Lexi to wake up. Jennifer was about to strike back but I managed to get my hand between them and unbuckled Jennifer from her seat.
"Now isn't the right time to start fighting, okay?" I said looking between Valerie and Jennifer as Jen climbed out of the car.
"Okay." I heard them muttering while shooting daggers to each other. I sighed and waited for all of them to get out before taking their backbags.
Sometimes I felt like their mother who made sure they had everything with them and they were properly dressed. Which I wasn't. I wasn't their mom and never would be. No matter how much I'd love them, they'd always belong to another woman. A woman I didn't know and, from what I knew, never wanted to get known to. But Melissa would always be their mother. But where I was a woman in their life who made sure they woke up on time and ate good breakfast, Jace was the carefree cool dad who would allow them to eat ice-cream until they were sick to their stomachs instead of making them proper food. And that was the thing I liked in Jace the most. He was careless sometimes, but he always made sure the girls had everything they needed and made sure that his daughters knew that they were the most important thing in his life, that he loved them more than anything.
Pulling me out of my thoughts, Jace came back with two luggage carts and not so quietly. He bumped into a light pole, trying to controll two massive carts at the same time.
"Wouldn't it be much easier to bring one at the time?" I asked laughing, taking the other cart and pushing it to the car.
"Yeah, but I like to take risks." He said winking. Why does he have to make everything sound so suggestive? I wondered trying not to blush.
"So I've noticed." I muttered not really sure if he heard me.
We loaded the carts with our suitcases and the hand baggage. Jace told the girls to hold on to the carts, Jennifer and Alexandra walked with Jace leaving me and Valerie to follow them into the terminal. Jace had taken all the big suitcases, I had only Jen and Lexi's so I lifted Valerie to sit on top of them. She smiled widely at me as I sprinted to catch up with Jace, Alexandra and Jennifer. Of course making sure she wouldn't fall off. Hearing Valerie laugh Jace turned to look back and smirked at us. He lifted Lexi up and put her on top of the suitcases before putting Jennifer in front of her sister. They giggled and clutched onto each other. We raised to the check-in, or at least half of the way. We saw a security guard walk towards us, not looking so happy. We stopped and put the girls down before the guard reached us.
"Good morning mr...?" He asked looking at Jace.
"Herondale." He answered, sounding embarrassed.
"Good morning mr. and mrs. Herondale." I opened my mouth to say that I definitely wasn't a Herondale, but Jace shook slightly his head at me and put his arm around my waist, pulling me closer to him. With his other arm he pulled the girls closer aswell. I blushed but looked back at the security guard.
"Good morning mr." He looked at the tag on his uniform. "Harrison. I'm sorry if we caused some trouble. But you see our family have been through a lot; their grandpa, my father, just passed away and me and my wife just wanted to cheer our little sweethearts up a little. He was so important to them. God bless his soul." He said and I tried not to burst out laughing. Mr. Harrison looked at me and his hard expression softed a bit and he nodded. I guess I looked like a was going to burst into tears. Jace leaned down and kissed my cheek. But then Valerie opened her mouth.
"But daddy, grandpa didn't die." She said looking confused.
"Emily darling, I know you don't want to believe it. I don't want either. But honey he's gone." Jace said kneeling in front of Valerie. What? Emily?
"Daddy my name's-" Valerie started but Jace cut her of.
"I know what your name is. Come on girls, let's go check ourselves in. Clary honey could you talk with Mr. Harrion? Thank you, I love you!" He said before kissing me quickly on the lips and took his daughters' hands, pulling them with him. What just happened? I asked myself. I looked back at Mr. Harrison and tried to smile.
"I'm sorry. Val- um.. Emily was really close with her grandpa. We're on our way to the funeral." I suttered. Oh Jace was going to pay for this.
"It's alright Mrs. Herondale. I hope you have a good flight and tell your husband I'm sorry for his lost. Now, have a good day." He said before walking away. I looked after him before taking the other cart and pushed it towards Jace and the girls.
"What the h-"
"Watch your language, young lady." He smirked but after seeing my furious expression he lifted his hands up "Alright alright! I'm sorry. I'll make this up to you, okay." He whispered into my ear. I shivered as his lips touched my earlobe, but then I remembered the girls.
"Jace. The girls." I muttered pushing him away gently.
"Oh, right." He rubbed his neck and turned to look at Jennifer, Valerie and Alexandra. Obviously he had explained what happened with the security guard but now he had to explain what happened five seconds ago. They looked at us with wide eyes and Valerie lifted her eyebrow. A six-year-old girl can do that and I can't? Great.
"Daddy? What are you doing?" Jennifer asked quietly.
"I just thanked Clary for helping me." He said but it sounded more a question than a statement.
"Thanking?" Alexandra asked.
"Yeah. I whispered it to her ear." He tried. They were so not bying that.
"Your daddy was just too shy to say it out loud." I said and their faces broke into huge smiles.
"Daddy's afraid of talking to a girl!" they laughed. I grinned at Jace who was glaring at me.
"Okay I deserved that, thank you very much." He muttered as his daughters made fun of him.
"Okay let's go to check-in desk, this way please." He said to the girls and I followed them, still grinning like crazy. 15 minutes later our suitcases were on their way to the plane and we had two spare hours before the boarding started. We decided to go eat something after getting thourgh the security control. We all got through, not that I doubted it, but everytime my family and I travelled somewhere and used plane, someone had something that needed to be taken away. So it was a plesant surprise that we all got through without any problems.
Soon we were sitting in a café and eating breakfast. We compared our boarding passes and sorted out who was sitting with who on the plane. Jennifer, Valerie and Jace were sitting in the row in front of Alexandra and me. The girls argued something about who was sitting where.
"I don't want to sit in the middle. I want a window seat." Jennifer said, crossing her arms.
"No I said first I want the window seat!" Valerie yelled.
"Shh! Calm down now, it's not a big deal." Jace tried to calm them down.
"But I don't want to sit in the middle. If I don't get the window seat, I want the aisle seat."
"Hey, we can talk about it later. Now eat your sandwiches, please." Jace said.
Finally half an hour later the girls had eaten their sandwiches and Jace and I had drunk our coffees and we were ready to head towards our gate. Valerie, Alexandra and Jennifer were already tired and we had a long day ahead.
We decided that it would be the best if we sat where the boarding passes told us. Me sitting with Lexi, Jace with Valerie and Jen. I let Alexandra sit on the window seat and sat on the middle seat and next to me came a middle-aged business man, yes he was dressed into a expensive-looking suit and had a briefcase.
After the flight attendants had done the usual safety instructions, the pilot introduced himself and soon we were above the clouds. I heard Valerie and Jennifer arguing about something and Jace sighing loudly.
"Okay girls, that's enough." He said sternly. "Valerie, you got the window seat, right? So it's only fair that Jennifer gets to choose first which book she wants to read, isn't it? And Jen, please don't irritate her on purpose. You know that's her favourite book and you've read that already twice."
I heard them muttering something but the arguing stopped. Alexandra's eyes were closing slowly and she yawned. Few minutes later she was snoring against my shoulder, her dark brown hair covering her eyes. I decided to close my eyes, too, for a minute. When I opened them next time I had to groan out loud; my neck was aching for being tilted too long. I straightened myself and looked around. Alexandra was still sleeping against my shoulder and the business man was looking at his phone. Jace turned to look at his daughter and me and grinned.
"Oh, so you've woken up!" He laughed. " It didn't take more than 10 minutes after sitting down and you were both asleep."
I rubbed my neck and looked at sleeping Alexandra. Her long dark lashes hit lightly her cheeks, making shadows on them.
"Yeah, well we were both tired! And shouldn't you be happy that you have at least one cheerful kid with you. Not to mention the cheerful nanny!"
He laughed and said that we would be in Miami in about 30 minutes and I looked out of the window. The sun was shining and there were only a few clouds. I could almost imagine myself walking on a beach wearing a dress or shorts, not a gardigan or a winter coat. This is where I am meant to live. I thought to myself and couldn't keep the smile from my face.
"What's so funny?" Alexandra asked sleepily. I looked down at her and smiled even more.
"Nothing. I'm just happy. Look, we're almost there!"
Half an hour later the plane was on the solid ground again and we were walking out of it. We had to go and get our suitcases and the airport wasn't a tiny one. When we finally had all of the suitcases we made our way to the parking lot.
"This might be a stupid question but how on earth are we going to find the right car?!" I asked looking around. The parking lot was full of cars and we, at least I, didn't know what the car even looked like.
"Do not worry, dear Clary. I know where it is. Mr. Starkweather just texted me. It should be a black Mercedes on the 1st floor." Jace said looking around.
So we just walked around trying to find the right car. Surprisingly fast we found the right black Mercedes. It was a beautiful black car, yes, but still it was just a car. Jace didn't seem to think the same. He rounded the car and by the look on his face, enjoyed it.
"Daddy can't you just open the trunk and put these suitcases in? I'd like to go home. Though I don't know where it is." Said Jennifer tapping her foot against the ground.
"Huh?" Asked Jace, looking up from the car.
"Just give me the keys." I said and took them from him and opened the trunk. The girls helped me lift the suitcases in while Jace almost drooled over his new car. I closed the trunk and gave the keys back to Jace.
"Jace, could you get yourself together and drive us safely home?" I asked.
"Of course I can." he said and we got in. He drove us out of the parking lot after writing the address to GPS. Despite his 'excellent sense of direction', like he said, we did get lost. More than once. The GPS said it would take about half an hour from the airport to our new home but with Jace driving and NOT following the GPS's guidance, it took more than one hour to get there. Finally we found the right house. Or should I say mansion.
It was surrounded with high concrete fence and an iron gate. The house itself was full of windows and the walls were very light colored- almost beige. It was maybe a little too modern-looking for my taste since I liked older and more charateristic houses but I wasn't going to complain.
"And what was the position you were at, again? How the hell is the house this big?!" I asked as we were unloading the car. Girls were already exploring the house and choosing their rooms.
"I'm the new department manager. And believe me, I did not know the house would be like this. I mean, is this even a house? Not that I'm complaining; there are no costs for us." Jace said.
"Dad! Jen doesn't let me keep the room I found first!" Alexandra yelled from the house. Jace sighed and walked into the house, telling some man to help me with the luggage.
"I got it, miss." he said and told me I could go inside. I opened the huge mahogany door and took in all the whiteness. The floors, the walls, even the stairs were white. Floors were white marble-looking material, as were the stairs. I wonder what this is looking like after two months. The girls aren't the tidiest ones I know. But I bet Jace loves this. Considering it's all white. I thought to myself as I looked around. I had to admit it was really a beautiful house. Downstairs were the kitchen, dining room, living room, one bathroom/toilet and the utility room with washing machines and dryers.
I walked up the stairs and saw a long hallway with five doors. I didn't get why all the floors had to be that cold and slippery marble material, hardwood floor would've been so much cozier but then again, I shouldn't be complaining.
"Dad! I told Jen I wanted this room!" They were still fighting over the room. I looked into one of the rooms and saw a scowling Alexandra, a frustrated Jace and a smirking Jennifer.
"Okay." Jace said running his hand through his hair. "Jennifer, this is Lex's room from now on. Come on, let's find you another room." He put his hand on Jen's shoulder and guided her out of the room. Alexandra was smiling brightly at her now scowling sister and shut the door behind them.
"I choose this one, then." Said Jennifer angrily, stepped into the room and slammed the door.
"No slamming the doors, Jennifer!" Jace yelled. Shaking his head he turned to look at me. "I'm sorry, they're just so tired and they annoy each other on purpose which is driving me crazy."
"It's okay, I understand. So, which one is still free?" I asked, pointing the doors.
"Oh, right." He said rubbing the back of his head. "I took the first one here, the next room is Jen's so the last one is yours. Valerie and Lex are in those two on the other side the hallway." He said walking past the closed doors. He opened the door for me and I stepped in.
It had the dark hardwood floor that I had hoped for, one huge window and a glass door. The bed was the same one I had had in the previous house. I still didn't have a walk-in-closet but I got two big wardrobes, instead of one like in the old house, standing side by side next to a cute little desk. I had an en suite bathroom that I didn't have to share with Jennifer – she had her own.
"I have a balcony?!" I asked opening the glass door.
"You, me and Jennifer share the same balcony – see, it goes all the way to my door. Alexandra and Valerie don't have fortunately a balcony. I can only image how dangerous it would be in their use. But anyways, do you like this one?" He asked, gesturing my room.
"Oh yes, I love it!" I smiled. He smiled back and we fell into awkward silence.
"Well... That's good, that's good. I'll just.. I'll have Mr. Wilson get your things." He said and walked out of the room. Who? Mr. Wilson? Oh right, the man who came to help me with the luggage. So we have a footman now? Oh my god..
I sat on my bed and looked around. The floor was dark hardwood, walls were light beige and the furniture was the same color as the floor. The en suite bathroom was not really a big one but big enough for me. It had a shower, sink with a mirror and cabinet and a toilet of course. I heard a knock on my door and went to open it – it was Mr. Wilson with my suitcases.
"Here you are, Miss Clary." He said and took them in for me. Oh, wow. I really have to study how to act around a servant, or whatever he is to us. I had always thought that people have servants only in movies these days – apparently not.
"Oh please call me Clary. And thank you!" I said before he bowed lightly and closed the door as he went. Ouch, I really need him to stop the bowing. I'm really not the queen of England.
Sighing I started to unpack the suitcases. It wasn't really that big of a deal, considering I didn't have that much property with an hour later I closed the empty suitcases and pushed them under my bed. The room still looked empty – though I had put the pictures of my family back in New York on my bedside table and some other personal things I had with me on the little desk.
I decided to go check how the girls were doing with their suitcases. And I'm glad I went – the situation was chaotic. First was Jennifer since she lived next to me. She had somehow managed to open the suitcase and get them around the room, in what, ten minutes.
"Okay I see you need a little help here." I said and picked up a flower-printed dress and put it on a hanger and into her walk-in-closet. Is this real? A six-year-old girl gets a walk-in-closet and I don't? Okay I had to admit that she had a lot of clothes. Much more than I did. And most of them hadn't even arrived yet. So yes, that made sense. We folded and put her clothes onto the hangers in her closet before I went to check on the other girls.
Valerie and Alexandra's rooms were on the other side of the hallway – each side of the staircase. Alexandra's opposite to mine and Val's to Jace's. Alexandra and I apparently were the only ones who didn't have a walk-in-closet – her room was exactly like mine, minus the balcony door.
Lex needed a little help too - but I was actually a little surprised how neatly she had folded her clothes into her drawers. Valerie had gotten her clothes already in her closet but when I tried to open it to look if she really had actually folded them, she rushed in front of me and turned me around to walk me out of her room.
"I'm a little hungry, could we eat something?" She tried to smile innocently – without succeeding. But I decided to let it go. It was her room after all and her clothes. She was old enough to clean her room by herself.
"Yeah, sure – go get your sisters and I look if your dad is ready with his room." She ran into Jen's room and I knocked on Jace's door. I waited for a while before going in and closing the door behind me. Of course I should've guessed he had the master bedroom. It was huge. His bed was a king-size bed with a big dark wooden headboard, the floor was the same as in all of the rooms; dark hardwood. The walls were the same light beige as in my room. I didn't realize to look the girls' walls – I was sure Jace would let them choose different colors if they wanted to. But the only thing that caught my eye was the huge bay window. The bench was filled with light brown, black and white pillows – it was beautiful.
"Jace?" I asked as I walked towards the bay window "Are you here?"
I sat down on the bench as he opened his closet's door and looked around before he noticed me.
"Oh, hey. I didn't here you knocking. You did knock, right?" He asked.
"Yes, I did." I laughed "Anyways, the girls are hungry and I don't think there are that much food in the cabinets, so should we order something or should I go find some grocery store?"
"No, you don't have to go, it's getting late already. So lets just order something." He said grabbing his phone. Before dialing the number he found on the internet he looked back at me.
"Isn't this great? The room, I mean. It's so huge. It's almost too big, I don't even have enough things to make this look like someone lives here!" He said looking around and sitting down on his bed. "Could you help me decorating this? Some paintings or drawings maybe? I saw you paint the other day back at NY."
I knew my cheeks were red as I looked down smiling. I had never been good receiving compliments.
"Yeah, sure. I'm not sure about the paintings though, I don't think my paintings would fit here. But I could buy you some desing pictures?" I knew my paintings were a little too, umm, colorful to this room. The paintings should be calming and relaxing, not catch you attention with their colorfulness.
"Yeah, what ever you say. And what comes to the girs's rooms, I already told them they could choose some other color for the walls if they don't like the beige, but I have absolutely no eye for that kind of things. So I'm begging you to keep an eye on their choises. I don't trust them, especially Valerie, when it comes to choosing colors to any room." He said scratching his neck.
"Of course." I said laughing and standing up. I could almost imagine Valerie choosing some neon green or yellow paint, and I was sure she would regret it at some point.
"Thank you." He said and walked to me. He leaned towards me and kissed my forehead. Ummm, what are you doing?! I was about to say, but kept my mouth shut. His lips lingered on my head as he wrapped his arms around me. I just stood there and couldn't do anything.
"Clary? Is everything okay?" He asked pulling away just to look at me.
"Uh, yes?" Oh how wonderful, I made it sound like a question.
"Was that a question?" He was clearly amused.
"No? I mean, no. No it wasn't. Isn't this weird to you at all?" I asked gesturing between us.
"Yes, of course it's weird. I'm not used to girls who just stand as I hug them. Even an iron stick would be more cuddly than what you are right now." He said seriously.
"Ha ha ha, you're so damn funny. No. I didn't mean myself. I meant this situation. You're hugging your daughters' nanny. Isn't that weird to you?" I asked rolling my eyes.
"How many times we're going to go through this conversation? I've said to you already that I don't know what draws me to you, but what I know – it draws me hard. You draw me to you. Everything about you makes me want to just hug and kiss you and never let go." He whispered and caressed my cheeks.
Okay, wow. I couldn't tear my eyes from his. They kept me staring at them, my knees going weak. If Jace hadn't had his arms tightly around me I would've probably sank on the floor.
"Okay, lets get you back down." He said and moved me to sit on the bay window bench again. He sat down next to me and took my hands into his.
"I didn't mean to scare you. You know that, right?" He said. I nodded and took a deep breath.
"I bet I wasn't the first girl who almost sank on the floor in your arms." I laughed and rubbed my face gently.
"No, you weren't" He dared to laugh a little too. "But seriously, are you okay?"
"Yes, Jace I'm fine. I just didn't expect you to say anything like that." I muttered.
"Say what? That I like you? 'Cause I do." he was all serious again.
"There, you did it again. You can't just walk around telling people you like them!" I said, I didn't know if I was angry or just in shock.
"You're angry at me because I said I like you? And what people? Do you think that I say that often? Do you really think I change girls like socks? You're unbelievable." He said standing up and looked down at me. No! This isn't how I meant this to go! Great Clary, now he's angry.
I grasped his hand before he could take another step. "No! I don't think like that! I was just.. I was just shocked. That's all. Please don't be mad." I stood up aswell and looked up at him.
He sighed and shook his head. "I'm not mad at you, Clary. You just make me feel so... Nervous. You make me nervous."
"I don't want to make you nervous." I was barely whispering. He smiled at me before took his hand from mine and put both of his on my cheeks. He stroked them gently before leaning down and touching my lips with his. I took in a quick breath before sinking my fingers into his golden hair. It was so silky under my hands, so smooth. His hands roamed down to my waist and stayed there, thank God. I could have continued it forever but unfortunately we didn't live alone in the house – I heard Valerie calling for us behind the door. I quickly pulled away and stepped back a step just before she opened the door and looked at us. I smoothed down my shirt a bit when she wasn't looking at me.
"Come on dad! We're hungry!" She said before looking at us one more time and skipping away and down the stairs.
Jace let out a long breath and looked at me smirking. "How on earth did you hear her?" He asked amused.
"Actually, I don't even know – but I'm glad I did." I laughed. It was a little too close for my taste.
"Yeah. Now, come on let's get us some food." He said and gestured me to go first. I walked out of the room, Jace behind me. He closed the door and we went downstairs to find the girls.
This time they didn't catch us. But that's only a matter of time. What will happen when they all or just one of them catches their daddy and nanny kissing? I thought to myself and couldn't decide if I liked the idea of them knowing about our thing or if I was terrified.
So.. Yeah.. Wow, I'm sorry. I know, I know. There's no excuses for my lack of updating. Almost nine months and not a single update. I just haven't feel like writing, at all. I still don't feel like it – I wrote this chapter for six months, little by little. And during last week I wrote the most of it. So please don't be mad at me. I just don't feel like writing that much, but I PROMISE that I will get this story to the end. I know what I'm going to write. But don't expect me to update weekly. I know I don't deserve your cheering and support, and I understand if I lose some readers. But I'd really appreciate if you were just patient. Like I said I promise to get this story done. This might be my last story here on FanFiction, who knows. Maybe I'll get my writing mood back someday. But 'till that day, (I'll say this one last time) I promise to do whatever it takes to get this finished. I owe you that much, my lovely readers. Thank you so much if you stuck with me and I'm sorry if I let you down. And sorry for any mistakes, I tried my best.
Good night,
